| Feb 2026 | ENGINE | On 5 Feb 2026 I was starting my 4-hour drive back home. 15 minutes into my drive my truck lost power, several lights and the engine light came on. Truck was sputtering and making harsh engine noises and shut off on me. I was forced to exit Loop 2 (a major highway). Once I was able to restate the truck I went straight to the dealership. This truck had the recall done 15 Oct 2025. However, this issues still occurred. The motor gave out. Truck is 83K in mileage. well under 100K. Cost estimate is $6.5K. The technician informed me that a lifter collapsed in cylinder 5. This is clearly still part of the GMC recall issue for the 6.2L engines. What is my next step in this process. If I knew there was a major issue with these Trucks, I probably would not have purchased it. All maintenance has been done with same dealership to keep all service records excess able. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | While driving the vehicle I hit a bump on the road and all 4 windows in the vehicle went down. I did not push any buttons. I tried to close the windows and they would not close. Nothing happened when I attempted to close them. It was 10 degrees out I pulled over, and tried again with out success. I shut the car off, opened the door and closed it and restarted the car after a few minutes. I was able to close 3 of the 4 windows. I started driving and eventually I was able to close the last window. ON my drive I late hit another bump and again all 4 windows opened with out any action by me, I was on a highway, I again pulled over and was not able to close the windows. After I continued driving I was able to close 3 of the 4 windows and eventually the 4th. This is a safety issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | SEATS | Seat is squeaking loudly like if its loose or something is loose with it dealership and gm dont want to fix it they expect me to pay to fix something that ahouldnt even be happening on a 2 year old vehicle specially when you pay more than 70,000 dollars for a vehicle to be having this issue | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | Post recall L87 I had a catasrophic engine failure. 70 mph highway engine seized lost propulsion. 38000 miles. No warning, Engine has been replaced by GM | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | While traveling 60 mph on a divided highway went to pass another vehicle. Had no throttle response the engine had completely turned off, locked up seized up. I’m not sure what caused the engine to just lose all power. Had to go back to the lane and luckily there was a turnoff where I was able to turn off the highway. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | STRUCTURE | I was driving on the highway (using cruise control) when the front bumper grill started vibrating (so I tried to slow down) but it kept flapping and flew off before I was able to pull over. I then pulled over on the shoulder and had to walk back to retrieve it. My safety was put at risk because it could have hit my windshield and caused me to have an accident, or, it could have hit someone or another vehicle. I have it and it is available for inspection. It has not been inspected by anyone yet. There were no warning signals prior to the failure. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | Lifter failure in 5.3 liter V8 causing extended repair | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | 2024 gmc engine 6.2 that failed had the recall test done and a couple of mounts later engine started making loud knocking sound its at the shop now getting a new engine in been at the shop for about 3 weeks now | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) in October 2025, and the vehicle was taken for inspection. The vehicle passed the inspection, and the recall was closed. The following month, while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power and decelerated to approximately 30 MPH with an abnormal clanking sound coming from near the engine compartment. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road and waited before driving 30 MPH to a nearby dealer. The check engine warning light and an unknown sensor light were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that there was a loss of power due to engine failure and that the engine needed to be repaired. The engine was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 67,000 |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | my truck has not been added to the 6.2 engine recall. I have several cases of friends and acquaintances who have had multiple engine failures (including replacements)with this same engine where their trucks shut down in the middle of the highway. I’ve tried speaking with GMCs customer warranty department to get details on why my engine has not been recalled and no one including them, my selling dealer or my service dealer can explain why it has not been recalled. I do not feel safe driving this truck and I’ve come to the point where I do not feel GMC has been honest with me about this engine. I’m actively reading dozens and dozens of cases each week where some GMC trucks are on their 3 or more engine. (engines produced in 2025 and late 2024). facebook page called gm 6.2l engine and bearing failure 2019-2024 discussion group has nearly 5,000 active members on it. I’m even getting conflicting information form gmc and dealers on what oil the truck should have. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Had a recall for the engine , went in for the pick scope test and it passed they switched the oil from 0w-20 to 0w-40 and not even 500 miles and the engine failed lucky I wasted driving it when it did | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Vehicle was in neutral on an alignment rack with no one in the vehicle. Vehicle was idling. Vehicle shifted into reverse on its own (no one in the vehicle) and backed off the alignment rack causing $7,000 estimated damage to the vehicle. This happened at a tire dealership (TGK, Owatonna, MN). Luckily no one got injured or killed. No inspection yet. No warning messages. This truck has had numerous "electrical glitches" previously that have had no resolution. This "glitches" have included loss of power while driving, 3 times smelling like burnt wiring upon start up, left mirror motor going bad, right mirror motor going bad. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | While traveling down the highway at approximately 60-65mph I pressed the accelerator to change lanes and pass a tractor trailer when it felt like my transmission slipped very abruptly. There was a very noticeable power loss and the truck would not accelerate. Then I noticed a loud knocking noise coming from the engine. No check engine light or any other indications on the dash to let me know there was a problem. I began to try and merge to the right of the highway to get off which was not easy do to the power loss and heavy traffic on the highway at the time. I made it to the right lane to exit the highway and when I slowed down the engine died and I had to coast to a stop luckily on an exit ramp. The truck was towed to a dealership and they state that I will need a new engine. I know this issue is already well documented with the GM 6.2l engines but I is very unsettling that the engine just died on the highway at highway speeds and no indications. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | SERVICE BRAKES | Break system failed while driving. Multiple warning lights came on including Break System Failire, Service Steering Column Lock, Service Traction Control, Service ESC and Service Brake Pad Monitor. This happened as I was driving and I could barely stop the truck. I had my wife and kids in the car. Luckily, I was not driving very fast and was not in a congested or had to stop quickly. If I had to stop fast or was in a congested area this could have causes a life threatening accident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,BACK OVER PREVENTION | I purchased my 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 on July 4, 2024. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle began experiencing recurring electrical and electronic malfunctions affecting multiple safety and driver-assistance systems. These issues include power mirrors not consistently folding when the vehicle is locked, the digital speed (MPH) intermittently not displaying on the dashboard, driver seat memory not always setting upon entry, and blind spot warning indicators activating while driving when no vehicles or objects are present. More critically, the rear parking assist sensors do not function consistently and often fail to alert before contact with an object. I have backed into objects on multiple occasions before the sensors activated or without any warning, creating a safety risk while reversing. I first brought the vehicle to the dealership on January 13, 2025 for these issues, but they were not resolved. I purchased two GMC-branded trailer cameras in December 2024 that are advertised as compatible with this vehicle. On September 1, 2025, I returned to the dealership when the “invisible trailer” feature became inoperable. The trailer camera system frequently shows a black screen, cuts out intermittently, or fails to display an image. I returned again on September 11, 2025 due to continued failure of the invisible trailer feature and rear parking assist. The dealership kept my vehicle until December 2, 2025 (approximately one month), but the issues remain unresolved. I am scheduled to return again in January. These failures reduce rear visibility and compromise multiple safety systems. Despite repeated dealership repair attempts and extended service time, the problems persist, suggesting a defect involving the vehicle’s electrical system, sensors, software, or camera modules. I have photo and video documentation of these failures. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to coast to the highway divider and stop the vehicle. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine had suffered a catastrophic failure and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact informed the dealer of the issue and was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,504. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 6,504 |
| Dec 2025 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | I am writing to express my significant concerns regarding the recurring issues with my 2024 Denali 6.2, which has been subject to multiple service visits since reaching 7,000 miles. Despite these visits, the underlying problem remains undiagnosed and reoccurs shortly after I retrieve the vehicle. Following the second oil change, the engine developed a persistent ticking noise. Over the past 13 month, I have invested over $200,000 with your dealership in the past 5 years!. My truck was recently held for two weeks for service. After I lodged a complaint, the General Manager suggested I seek service elsewhere. This recommendation was made after I responded to an email stating that, following the completion of repairs to the headliner, third brake light, and brakes/rotors, I would no longer be utilizing Crain's services. The headliner sustained water damage due to improper installation by your technician, and fingerprints were also evident. I firmly believe in transparent communication regarding service progress, which was notably absent in this instance. Both the General Manager and Service Manager deferred responsibility, instructing me to contact GM directly, only for GM to inform me that direct contact was inappropriate. This resulted in a continuous cycle of unaddressed concerns with the service manager. Currently, I am operating an $80,000 vehicle that has incurred damage from a technician and exhibits a ticking engine. Furthermore, the driver's side mirror, which was previously replaced due to shaking at highway speeds, is now exhibiting the same issue, despite a technician's assertion that this is normal. I also note that my brakes, with over 89% remaining, are beginning to squeak, which your team claims is normal. This assessment is difficult to accept. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle started losing automotive power and stalled. The contact frantically maneuvered the vehicle across three lanes of highway traffic to get to the right shoulder and park the vehicle. During the failure, the check engine warning light and several other unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The contact had previously received a letter regarding NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 48,301. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 48,301 |
| Dec 2025 | ENGINE | I brought my 2024 Sierra in for its L87 recall. It passed. Two weeks later I had to bring it in for check engine light. They reset the system under a TSB that is known to occur with the l87 recall. Not a total of 300 miles of passing the recall I was driving and the engine started making a horrible noise and I started experiencing loss of power. I managed to get the vehicle safely parked. The dealer pulled the oil filter and said it had 100% metal contamination in the oil. The filter looked like a glitter bomb went off. It took 3 weeks, they replaced the engine with a remanufactured engine even though I told them new only. They also had to replace the radiator as it was polluted with metal. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | My truck braked for a vehicle that was parked on the side of the road. This vehicle was not in my lane or hazardous in any way. I was traveling at highway speed 55 mph and truck braked to 30 mph approximately with no pre warning this has not happened before or after. The truck has about 26k on it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | 12/7/2025 8:48 AM Engine lost propulsion while driving 35mph enroute to residence. The engine cut off and at the same time we saw a cloud of blue smoke trailing the vehicle. The engine refired and propulsion resumed. I immediately looked at the dash display for an indicator light resulting from the lack of propulsion. There were no unusual indicator lights or messages but the tachometer needle dropped about an inch and went back up again rapidly. The engine had resumed running. This loss of propulsion and resumption occurred two more times while my foot was off the accelerator. After the third incident the vehicle seemed to be running normally. I stated we had only about two miles to get home and I hope we make it. The next day I called DeLuz service department to notify them of the incident. I left a message but my call was not returned. I updated service staff of the new incident when I dropped the vehicle off for a previously scheduled appointment on 12/11/25. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | My truck completely stalled and had to be restarted. I took it to the dealership to have it resolved. They wouldn’t look at the truck without a recall notice. Now there is a recall notice for my exact issue. I took it to be repaired by them but now they are saying that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle and are refusing to do anything about it stalling. They specifically said that I will have to stall and potentially get in a car wreck before they will repair the damaged engine. I have been very disappointed in this entire situation and would like to avoid driving a car that may end up crashing due to a preventable problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | While driving my 2024 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate on the highway, the engine suddenly failed without warning. The truck shut off completely while I was traveling at highway speed. I was fortunate to be able to safely maneuver to the shoulder, but the sudden loss of power created a serious risk of a collision with surrounding traffic. The failure appears to involve the engine or engine control system. The vehicle engine is currently available for inspection upon request. Prior to the incident, there were no warning lights, messages, or unusual symptoms. The shutdown occurred abruptly with no prior indication of a problem. This vehicle previously received the NS25249400 safety recall repair on August 12, 2025, and it reportedly passed all required checks at that time. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | ENGINE | https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2025/RCRIT-25V274-6343.pdf Safety Recall N252494001 L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion I am currently writing due to my vehicle falling under the guidelines of this recall but it is not listed in the recalls. I have been in contacts with GM directly as they say because it is not listed on NHTSA as a saftey recall they will not cover the cost. I am writing to try to get this listed as I currently can not get an oil change at any location but a GM dealer because it is listed in the systems. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
