| Mar 2026 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING | the rear lights do not function they quit working and there is no parking lights tail lights brake lights | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | POWER TRAIN | While driving a "Service Transmission" message appears on the information center. The truck shifts slowly, sometimes slamming into gear, doesn't seem to have smooth acceleration through the gears until a high gear is reached. Unusual sounds occur during the shifting sequence. The vehicle was dropped off at the dealer for service. Dealer claims that since they were not able to duplicate the conditions reported to them, the vehicle was fine and not in need of any further investigation or service. Transmission problems are a known concern with vehicle as recalls have been expanded to include this class of truck in the recall but GM is not including this vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES | At speeds of 65-75, both with the adaptive cruise control enabled and disabled, I accelerated a little bit to pick up speed and pass another vehicle. The vehicle responded initially by gaining speed, then it feels like I hit something and the front brakes lock up for 1-2 seconds and the tires start screeching from sliding, then everything resumes to normal. I was very shocked during a recent roadtrip when this happened 4-5 times. I feel like my safety and my family’s safety is at risk and of the 2 dealerships I called, they don’t prioritize it and make it seem like a minor repair. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | LANE DEPARTURE | I am reporting a safety-related defect involving the blind zone alert system. The system failed repeatedly and required multiple service visits. Initial repairs did not resolve the issue. The dealership ultimately determined the cause to be a faulty wiring harness, which has now been replaced and appears to have corrected the issue. Safety Concern: Failure of a critical safety system Increased risk during lane changes Issue persisted across multiple repair attempts Additional Concern: The delay in identifying the defect required multiple service visits and resulted in significant out-of-pocket costs. Request: Investigation into: Wiring harness defects affecting safety systems Reliability of blind zone monitoring systems | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | While driving 65mph in my 2024 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate on Interstate 270 in Hilliard, Ohio my chrome grill deflector just flew off and hit my windshield. It then went over my truck and almost caused a major accident with the cars and semi-trucks behind me. I was lucky to maintain control of my own vehicle! It appears to me that the mounting fractured and it looks like manufacturing defect. Looks like the same issues recalled in 2022 year models. How many have to die before GM fixes this issue? They now want $1,500 for a new grill on my 2024 truck. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle shut off while making a turn and started shaking abnormally. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated and the contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned off. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed, and it was determined that the engine had seized and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,524 | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 25,524 |
| Mar 2026 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the fuel level indicator on the instrument panel became inoperable and provided incorrect information. The contact stated that due to the inaccurate fuel level, the vehicle almost went into LIMP Mode with the message “Refuel - EMPTY Now” displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the DEF tank had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed by the dealer that parts to repair the vehicle were on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,895. | Crash: No Fire: No | 34,895 |
| Mar 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | My 2024 GMC Sierra 1500's engine has gone bad, and needs to be replace after only 71,000 miles, and this is only 90 day after already replacing the transmission | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ENGINE | Engine failure on March 8, 2026. 2024 Sierra Denali 1500 VIN [XXX] Prior to this incident, the vehicle was taken to the same dealer due to the safety recall. The engine was inspected on November 12, 2025, and I was told that it "passed," with the remedy being a change in oil viscosity. I was driving on March 8, 2026, when I heard some odd noises (clanking and knocking). Shortly thereafter, the engine just stopped in the middle of the road. It would not restart, and as a result, I couldn't put it in neutral to roll it out of the roadway. It remained stuck in park. I was stuck for 2+ hours in the rain, waiting for a flatbed wrecker. Cars were unable to pass in either direction. When the tow truck arrived, I was told it had to be dragged on to the flatbed with sleds due to the transmission being stuck in park. The truck was taken to Carl Black GMC in Roswell, GA. On Monday they confirmed that the engine had seized and needed to be replaced. The repair was completed, and I picked up the vehicle on Friday, March 13. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The gauge cluster quit working, I have no way of knowing my speed or how much fuel is in the vehicle. Feel like this is a safety issue with not being able to see the speedometer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ENGINE | The engine locked up 2 months after recall inspection. There was no lights or warnings. Towed into dealer, they inspected it and said lower end failed. Dealer replaced engine. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | My engine makes a rattling noise intermittently, misses, and surges. The transmission has shuddered and shifts hard randomly. The transmission has stayed at 2-plus rpm for well over two minutes. All this happens at random times. I have shown videos to my dealership, which did no good because they couldn't replicate it. I have had GM's so-called fix with changing the oil and software updates, which still haven't fixed any of my issues. I've been in contact with the main GM over these issues, and no one has seemed to care. They did scan the vehicle, and the only code it showed was a loss of signal to the transmission control module, which I assume fixed itself, because they did nothing further. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | [XXX] and [XXX] of 2025 the 6.2 V8 engine died while driving down the highway in Houston. The truck was bought brand new in January of 2025 with 100 miles on the odometer. The first engine failure happened [XXX] with 10,350 miles. Replaced, the second failure happened [XXX] with just under 25,278k miles. Once again the engine was replaced and took almost 6 weeks. | Mar 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while stationary or while driving, the vehicle unexpectedly shut off. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle stalled and lost electrical power. The battery was replaced five times and the BCM four times; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that after opening the door causes an immediate parasitic drain on the battery, resulting in a total loss of electrical power. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 48,000 |
| Mar 2026 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered and hesitated, and the transmission was slipping. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and DTC: P2818 “Pressure Control Solenoid H was stuck and the Transmission Control Module (TCM) valve body”. The contact was informed that the part needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact to stop driving the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that months later, the failure reoccurred while driving at an undisclosed speed, and the vehicle shuddered and hesitated, and the transmission started slipping. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but three months later, the failure reoccurred, and the RPM started fluctuating. The contact called the dealer; however, the vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 3,000 |
| Mar 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | I was driving on the highway with the cruise control engaged. An instruction came on the information center telling me to push the start button, while I was driving at highway speeds. Then the transmission downshifted numerous times violently the last few times. By the tachometer the engine was doing 6000 rpm. I pulled over and the start button would not shut down the engine until about the third time I pushed it. Then it would not restart. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership and they told me that they had gotten the truck to start but that the engine seized while pulling it into the repair bay. I had followed the recall directions that they had sent me for the recall on the 6.2 liter and they said that mine was fine and that I should use thicker oil from now on. I had done that but still had ths failure, which as a person that has worked on mechanical equipment my whole life, this failure is violent. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ENGINE | 2024 1500 Denali 3.0 Duramax Diesel engine failed at 57,000 miles. Engine is out of spec per dealer inspection, has an audible ticking noise, an additional audible metal on metal noise, and loss of power. New 3.0 engine is on back order due to a large volume of engine failures and has no ETA on when it will arrive. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The driver's and passengers' side mirror indicators remained illuminated but occasionally failed to operate. There was a glare that was shining into the vehicle while it was raining and driving at night. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that an unknown module was not operating as needed. The rear wiring harness was replaced. The seat module and transmission were repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was opened. The Attorney General was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 9,000 |

The vehicle was in the process of being repaired free of charge. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: RQ26001 (Engine). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no vehicle rental assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 45,000 |
| Feb 2026 | ENGINE | 1) In May of 2025 I attempted to have the dealership complete the recall which the GM app told me to schedule. Related to the L87 engine failure. According to their own document my engine manufacture date was to be replaced a defective. The dealer told me that there was "no resolution for the issue and turned me away. (see attachments) 2) In June GM changed the procedure adding the PICO test. (see attachment) 3) In October I received the official recall notice and scheduled the test. At the prior service visit I had the dealer give me back the old oil filter. I took it apart and found metal fillings in it. I reported this to the dealer. The truck had the PICO test and passed. They told me that "the filter did its job and the metal in it was normal wear and tear". They replaced the oil cap and filled it with thicker oil. I was sent on my way, told to call if I had any issues. 4) On 2-6-25 while driving 65 MPH on the highway, the engine just shut off without warning. The dash displayed "press start again" while I was traveling at 65MPH. I was able to pull to the side and restart the engine. Service was scheduled and performed on 2-10-26. They found no codes in the computer and could not find the issue. 5) On 2-13-26 while driving 75 on the interstate the engine stopped, the display read "press start again". I was able to coast through traffic and got to the shoulder. After some time and playing with the buttons I was able to get the truck into park. Then I started the engine. I made it off the freeway and onto a side road. I drove a few miles further and stopped for a stop sign. The truck was again dead, displaying "press start again". After several attempts and my vehicle in traffic, I got it to start. It drove for a mile more and the truck was dead. I had it towed to the dealership where they are working in it. It requires a new engine. 6) GM failed and endangered my family while traveling at freeway speeds. They should buy back their failure. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | ENGINE | I get alert saying low oil pressure and the truck turned it's self off and won't start back up. And I got car's and 18 wheelers coming up from behind. They're not paying attention to my emergency lights flashing. It did this twice on me, first time in my neighborhood and the second time on major road with a lot of traffic. I call GMC Corporate office and they know about the Recall on the 2024 GMC Sierra engine cutting off. I was told I need to get a picture or video of the dashboard say low oil pressure and video with me trying to start it back up. I guess I'll have to get hit or kill for them to replace the engine. I have no documentation because I have no picture or video. Didn't know I was supposed to take a picture or video. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | ENGINE | The engine lost power on the Hwy. Resulted in having to tow the vehicle to the dealership for an engine replacement. The truck is a 2024 with only 20K miles. There were no alerts within the interior to make me aware there was a problem. The engineer starting make a knocking sound at the time of failure. I had just gotten off the interstate when it failed. I spoke to a representative at the dealership and they informed me that the same engine will be installed, with a new oil type. I'm writing this given this will diminish the value of the truck, and I have to be worried about the engine failure happening again. Next time it could happen on the interstate with loss of power. I can't trust that to happen. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 67 MPH, the transmission shifted to neutral(N) unexpectedly. In addition, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact attempted to drive the vehicle off the road. A passerby slowed down and allowed the contact to move over to the side of the road. The engine seized, and the vehicle stalled between the shoulder and the line of the left lane. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the messages "Battery Low" and "Reducing Features to Save Battery" were displayed on the instrument panel. The contact called a friend who towed the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer was informed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact stated that due to the failure, the contact no longer felt safe while driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,680. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 52,680 |
| Feb 2026 | ENGINE | My truck started knocking and while driving home and it died on me in the middle of a busy street and would not start. I waved down a police officer and he kept me safe from cars hitting from behind.Come to find out it was the bearing rod and now I’m getting my engine replaced. My truck is a 2024 gmc sierra with 9,000 miles on it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
