| Jul 2026 | ENGINE | I was driving at normal highway speed. I exited the highway and started to deceleration for an upcoming traffic light. The engine started making a lot of noise. The 6.2L engine has 31k miles on it. Oil changes have been completed at the dealership where I purchased the sierra Denali. I called the dealership and the service writer could hear the engine noise. He asked if I could get it to the dealership which was about 15 miles away. I tried but the truck stopped about 7 miles from the dealership. They told me to call the onstar service and get a tow. The dealership said it will take about six weeks to get a new engine. In the meantime I'm making payments on an eighty thousand dollar vehicle I can't use. Someone needs to hold GM accountable for the lack of urgency in getting this problem fixed! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The vehicle suffers from a persistent transmission defect including shuttering bucking slipping torque converter failure valve body failure twice metal debris improper down shifting chirping noises and related liability and safety issues. The vehicle has undergone multiple unsuccessful repair attempts at authorise GM dealerships. These repairs include torque converter replacement valve body replacement twice solenoid replacement fluid services software updates. The transmission problems have persisted despite these efforts and the vehicle has been out of service for more than 22 business days including a breakdown driving to Florida. I have filed a claim through GM but it seems like it just keeps getting pushed further and further away this is a serious safety issue as I fear for those driving around me and myself that I may cause an accident with the bucking slipping and failure to operate properly on the road. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | ENGINE | This vehicle became subject to a manufacturer safety recall requiring complete engine replacement. The engine failure has been confirmed by an authorized GMC dealer, and the vehicle has remained out of service for more than one month while awaiting the recall remedy. The dealer has advised that the repair has been escalated through GM's SPAC (Service Parts Assistance Center) process because a replacement engine is not available. General Motors has also confirmed there is currently no estimated delivery date or estimated completion date for the repair. As a result, the recall remedy is effectively unavailable, and the vehicle remains unusable for an indefinite period. Although a temporary loaner vehicle has been provided, it is not functionally comparable to the recalled vehicle and does not provide the towing capability and utility required for its intended use. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized GMC dealer, who confirmed that engine replacement under the recall is required. The vehicle remains available for inspection. My concern is not only the original safety defect but also the inability to obtain the recall remedy within a reasonable timeframe. There has been no estimate of when replacement engines will become available, leaving the vehicle out of service indefinitely. I am submitting this complaint to document the delay in completing the safety recall and to request that NHTSA review whether the recall remedy is being provided in a timely and effective manner. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | My 2024 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate 1500 experienced a catastrophic powertrain failure that created a serious safety hazard. On XXX, while driving at highway speeds, the truck unexpectedly shifted into neutral, causing an immediate loss of propulsion. During this event, the electrical system was also affected. The battery power dropped, power steering assistance was lost, and due to the electronic push-button start system, the vehicle could not be restarted while in this condition. This placed me and surrounding motorists at significant risk of a crash. I initially brought the vehicle to Point GMC, where I was advised no issue was found. After the problem continued, I returned on XXX and a dealership technician rode with me. During the test drive on [XXX], the truck again shifted into neutral, confirming the defect. The vehicle was then towed to the dealership, where diagnostics revealed DTC P0016. I was informed the engine had seized and required a complete engine replacement. The engine was replaced by an authorized GMC dealership in New Jersey. After only about 2,000 miles, the check engine light returned and the vehicle began experiencing additional electrical issues. This is a Denali Ultimate, the highest trim level, with advanced electronic systems, making these recurring failures especially concerning. To date, the vehicle has been inspected by three authorized GMC dealerships, and I have opened multiple cases with GMC Corporate. Despite repeated repair attempts, the manufacturer has not provided a permanent resolution. I continue to experience recurring engine and electrical issues and no longer have confidence in the safety or reliability of this vehicle. Given the repeated failures, loss of propulsion, loss of steering assistance, inability to restart the vehicle, and lack of resolution after multiple dealership visits and an engine replacement, I believe this matter warrants investigation by NHTSA. | Jun 2026 | TIRES | The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 equipped with Maxxis Tires, Tire Line: Bravo HT-750, Tire Size: 255/80/R17, DOT Number: 120NK10015028. The contact stated that after the front driver 's-side tire became flat, the contact discovered that the spare tire originally equipped on the vehicle failed to fit the front wheels but did fit the rear wheels. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that the spare tire failed to fit the front driver's side wheel due to a factory-installed brake modification, causing the spare to not fit over the front brakes. The dealer replaced the front driver's side tire. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The tire failure mileage was unknown. The vehicle failure mileage was 14,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | STRUCTURE | The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65–70 MPH, the bumper air deflector, metal tabs, and screws detached and struck the front windshield. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. Additionally, the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty or recall. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 40,000 |
| Jun 2026 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. While shifted in reverse, the back over prevention camera intermittently displayed a black screen accompanied by two failing camera symbols. During the most recent failure, the camera displayed a blank image, causing the vehicle to crash into the garage door, causing damage to the garage door. The failure was intermittent. No injuries were reported. A police report was not filed. Medical attention was not needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Upon driving on the highway, I was doing about 73mph, something back flew up and smacked the windshield then the car behind me ran over that piece. After stopping and looking I realized the top trim to the grill flew off. There is no recall for this even though this is a safety concern. If I was near a sidewalk to a motorcycle behind me this could have injured someone severely. Upon research I found that there is a recall for the 2022 model for the same problem (Recall N242490120), this needs to be extended tot he 2024 model as I have another truck (same year and model) that is showing signs of the same issue. This is a huge safety concern. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | This vehicles top portion of grill trim is starting to come loose, as this is a safety concern while on the highway, I had another vehicle that the trim flew off completely, (same year and model) while i was on the highway. This could hit another vehicle if this happens, or god forbid a person who happens to be on a sidewalk. I looked into this and found that there is a recall for the same issue on 2022 models that has not been extended to the 2024 model (Recall N242490120). This recall should be extended to the 2024 models as this is a huge safety concern. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH at night, the message “Press Engine Start Button” was displayed, and the vehicle lost power. The vehicle was coasted to an exit ramp. The contact stated that after coming to a complete stop, the vehicle started to operate as intended. The vehicle was serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); but the recall repair failed to fix the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had occurred after the recall repair was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 24,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Issue is with the transmission as it harshly shifts into a low gear when on an incline. This causes me to lock up my breaks as it feels like the truck was rear ended by another vehicle. I’m concerned that this is going to cause an accident. This problem has not been reproduced by the dealer. I’ve taken it to the dealership several times. No warning lamps or messages. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | My truck engine has failed due to metal shavings in the oil related to the L87 engine recall, and the failure occurred after GM had replaced the truck’s oil as part of the recall remedy. The recall remedy did not prevent the failure of the engine. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Jun 2026 | ENGINE | On XXX, while traveling at 75 mph on a major interstate highway, this 2024 GMC Sierra Crew Cab suffered a sudden and catastrophic internal engine seizure, resulting in an immediate and total loss of propulsion. This defect put the safety of all occupants and surrounding motorists at extreme risk, forcing the driver to navigate a completely unpowered, rapidly decelerating vehicle through high-speed traffic to reach the shoulder without the aid of engine power. There were absolutely no warning lamps, error messages, or mechanical symptoms prior to the failure; the engine locked up instantaneously without any advance warning. Following the incident, the vehicle was flatbed-towed to an authorized franchise dealership (Dossett GMC in [XXX]), where it remains un-repaired and is currently available for inspection by the manufacturer or federal investigators upon request. Critically, this vehicle was previously presented to a certified General Motors dealership at 34,766 miles for inspection and service compliance under Federal Safety Recall N252494001 (which covers engine component failure and subsequent loss of propulsion). The vehicle was cleared as passing the manufacturer's inspection protocol at that time. The total engine failure and seizure occurred less than 9,000 miles later at approximately 43,634 miles. The catastrophic field failure of this vehicle demonstrates that the manufacturer's current safety recall inspection and remedy are insufficient to identify or mitigate the defect, presenting an ongoing and severe risk to public highway safety. | Jun 2026 | STRUCTURE | I was driving down the highway and the top grill trim 84957848 part number, flew off. Hit my windshield. Could’ve caused the small car behind me to blow a tire or damaged their vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER | top grill deflector flew off at highway speeds creating a safety hazard for me and others in the highway. 2022 GMC Sierra with the same part and grill was previously recalled for this identical issue. 2022-2026 models have the same problem and should be included in the recall. | Jun 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The screen shakes. Goes black. Zooms in randomly without prompting. Started dialing up people from recent calls. While trying to get the navigation working. I started drifting into oncoming traffic. Fortunately was able to course correct and avoid collision. Buttons are most time not responsive to touch. It is distracting. The system has never fully worked as promised and is a distraction. And as a result a serious safety hazard. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | ENGINE | Engine seized at 23,291 miles, approximately 3,661 miles after GM's authorized dealer performed a PicoScope inspection under Recall N252494000 and certified the engine as passing. July 2025 recall attempt was documented as incomplete with no remedy available. November 2025 inspection passed the engine. Engine seized March 2026. New engine installed under Special Coverage N252494003. New drivability concern — hesitation and lurch at low speeds — appeared immediately after the repair. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The vehicle received the official N252494001 recall oil remedy on 06/27/2025 at 15,438 miles (but suffered catastrophic engine failure and loss of propulsion at 33,661 miles on 05/30/2026). | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | My truck has completely shut down/ loss power on several occasions. Happened when I was l slowing down or completely stopped. Everything goes dark. Had to wait several minutes before truck would start. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | ENGINE | Engine failure after passing PICO test. Engine completely locked up on a busy highway without the ability to even put it in neutral. Yes, confirmed by dealer that there were metal shavings in the fluid. Inspected by authorized dealer. No lights came on in the vehicle prior to the engine failure. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Check engine light illuminated with service transmission. The next day transmission started slipping and finally would not engage in reverse. Dealership Has it now and after diagnosis they advised that they had replaced the electronic control module to which, on the test drive, the gauge cluster blacked out and they got more codes. The cpdes that the vehical threw were the transmission valve body needed to be replaced. The truck has 24k miles on it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | ENGINE | Engine failure at 12,000 miles | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | STRUCTURE | The front upper grille deflector detached and hit my windshield and bounced off behind me during a drive at normal highway speeds. This created a random flying debris object that appears to have been a problem with the 2022 and later Sierra 1500 models; however, the recall only appears to address the 2022 model. It also appears quite common for the 2024 year model as well. Vehicle has never been in an accident so nothing beyond typical use would have caused damaged to the connections. The plastic connectors appeared to have failed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
