Mar 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER I believe the GM 13.4 infotainment system, particularly the navigation system and the radio control exhibit a very bad driver distraction that could lead to wrecks. Specifically with much more traffic now a vast majority of people traveling beyond places they are familiar with rely on the bigger screens on new vehicles so they get a clearer picture of turns ahead. I have experienced multiple occasions where the Silverado infotainment/navigation system randomly unpairs itself from my iPhone and then I’m forced to handhold a phone for navigation which is illegal in my state. I’ve talked to others that have the same problem, the screen going blank and it unpairs whether wireless Bluetooth or USB connected to the proper port. Unacceptable for a $70,000 vehicle. Also GM apparently in an attempt to advertise Sirius radio and subscription plans displays what appear to be warning signs on the display thereby distracting a driver again. The only way to change out of the Sirrus default stations reliably is to push a very small software button smaller than a pencil eraser. Again you must take your eyes off the road for a couple seconds to perfectly align your finger with the active portion of the software button. I see no way to say default to say radio on startup. You can on the steering wheel toggle many pushes to get through factory presets but many of those presets take you back to the menus to order sirrus radio. My background is electrical engineering and IT systems. I’ve never seen a more complicated and unreliable sequences and I don’t believe GM fully tested it. There is no doubt in my mind it’s a serious distraction more so than just about any other distraction because it’s particularly annoying and then puts the driver in a bad mood. I understand Android phones work slightly better but the population of Apple phones is significant. I’ve spoken with GM customer service several times and Apple several times GM blames Apple Apple blames GM and Google/Android head unit

Mar 2025 ENGINE Motor blew in my 2024 Chevy Silverado. Motor was a 6.2 liter, L87 with 17,600 miles. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks without my vehicle. I've gotten no information on when any repairs will be made, nor have I gotten any support from the dealership or GM. I was driving 60+ mph in heavy traffic when the motor went. I was put in a bad situation and was lucky to get out of it without injury. I don't know what to do and need help!

Feb 2025 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL My truck had a check engine light come on for the transmission 2 months ago and then it went off before it was serviced. They said they couldn’t do anything since the light went off. Then last week I didn’t have reverse and it wouldn’t shift into gear. A week after it had been in the shop they told me the transmission valve body needs to be replaced. Expected date for parts to arrive is 3-10.

Feb 2025 ENGINE Hi - I'm filing a complaint against Chevrolet with the NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation. I purchased a brand new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado in Dec of 2024 from a dealership in MA. I've had the truck for only 2 months and only a couple thousand miles. I was in Quebec with my family for a ski vacation and we were driving back on [XXX} when my truck suddenly started making loud engine noises. I was able to get off the interstate to a gas station and then the truck turned off and would not start again. I had the truck towed to a Chevrolet dealership in Granby, Quebec. There was no warning or alerts before the engine failed. This is a known issue that the NHTSA is currently investigating, it has to do with the 6.2L V8 engine in GM vehicles from 2019-2024. The engine is seized and cannot be repaired, truck needs a new engine. Thank you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Feb 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Date of purchase [XXX]. Date of incident [XXX]. I was on my way to work at [XXX] and it was raining . Truck would not accelerate more than 45 miles an hour speed limit is 65 on the freeway. Engine light turned on and all the dashboard icons turned on. Drove it to the nearest dealership Tom Bell Chevrolet in Redlands Ca. Once I put vehicle in park it would not start. The message on the dashboard board displayed something like unable to access. So I went to see if service center open since it was [XXX]. He instructed me to drive around I said it will be not go into motion. After 15 minutes I checked the status on my phone and it did not display anything wrong so I went ahead and turned it on and drove it to the service center but once again it would not accelerate and shock vigorously. Once in the service line it turned off and did not stay on. Dealership ran diagnostics he mentioned cylinder and piston but they need to run more test. He called me back 2/14/25 asked if I had taken it to the dealership where I bought since purchased I said no it’s brand new, it looks tampered with . Called me back again and said this vehicle had a motor recall and a technician at Riverside Chevy worked on it and all the components are not connected we can work on it it need to go back to them and they need to explain what is wrong. He sent them a video of the tech looking at everything that was wrong. Truck was towed to Riverside Chevrolet [XXX]. This is a brand new vehicle that only had 17 miles when purchased by me ,at the moment it has 709 miles non of the components of this vehicle are new anymore they are either melted or rattling inside ,the gas tank sounded like empty cans rolling around, the transmission would not make the vehicle move. It is called lean mode if I’m being correct the vehicle was protecting it self from what I don’t know, so yes I feel it is unsafe and would like your help with this vehicle matter at your earliest possible conve INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Feb 2025 POWER TRAIN 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trail Boss While driving, I was given no notice to the vehicle shutting down, couldn't go forward nor backwards. Barely got off the road, waited hours on rollback. Dealership ran a test, said "control valve body " problem. Part is ordered, on back order. GM - taking software to attempt to monitor when? this problem is going to occur? They know about excessive wear, Why not Re-Engingeer this problem instead of selling vehicles that no one knows when this problem of stopping on the road will occur. That would be a safety issue. A hazardous issue of driving on the road and not know when this would happen. If the vehicle doesn't stop from GM software, the rear wheel brakes lock up.

Feb 2025 POWER TRAIN Less than 9,000 miles on a 2024 Silverado Trailboss and the Transmission goes out. Truck goes into limp mode, which is dangerous if you are on a highway. The new truck has been sitting at a Chevy dealership for 3 months waiting on a replacement part (valve). Have an incident number with GM, and they are pleasant on the phone, but they never call back with information when they say they will.

Feb 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE There is an electrical problem in this vehicle. You can be driving down the road with your high beams on, and they will start flashing. Or they will stop working altogether. Dashboard lights will go out until a restart of the vehicle. ( Speedometer or Tachometer.) The overhead light can just come on driving without you having touched it. The steering wheel controls will stop working. Until you restart the vehicle. The radio has gone out until restart. I have already had to have the transmission replaced in this truck at 24,000 miles. The dealership keeps telling me about these new issues. That unless they find a code. There isn’t a problem. This is not what I paid 62,000 dollars for. The dealer I bought it from is telling me that they will possibly do a buyback. Yet they keep telling me they will get back to me and they don’t. I called the woman who was supposed to call me back. She says she had a family emergency. Chevrolet needs to back their vehicles.

Feb 2025 POWER TRAIN The valve body in my transmission went out in Colorado where my truck is currently at a dealership under warranty. They are putting my job at risk due to the fact that I bought that truck specifically for work since I travel all over the country for work. I told them that I need the part expedited because I need to leave Colorado and go to Texas for work on the 28th and still no help at all. All I’m asking for is for the part or a new transmission to be sent and installed before the month ends. Because if it doesn’t I’ll get fired if I don’t make it to Texas. And I’ll state this I will pay out of my own pocket even though the truck has warranty if it means the part can get expedited.

Feb 2025 POWER TRAIN Driving on interstate 85 on cruise control when I herd the motor RPM start to climb so I tapped the break and that’s when the truck shut itself off and put itself in neutral causing me to have to coast over to shoulder of the road. Message on the dash said push start button to start again. There were no check engine lights, no overheating temperature lights. No codes at all. The truck is a 2024 with 62,000 miles and all oil changes on time. Upon checking online , this has happened to other vehicle owners as well. Apparently the Chevy Silverado with the 6.2 liter engine has problems with push rods and bearings. Some have replaced multiple engines. Chevy wants me to pay for new engine.

Feb 2025 ENGINE Engine check light came on at 10,500 miles and under 300 hours of engine time. Initially thought it was due to a wheel speed sensor failure from the salt and brine build up from winter weather. After having the code ran the engine is misfiring and has a rough idle. This is an L87 6.2L motor on a 2024 Silverado ZR2. After researching this problem it is way more frequent than the total of 39 official reports with a similar truck owned by an acquaintance having the same issue at the same mileage. Engine sound has changed, the truck shudders, and may seize up at any moment. The truck had 1 oil change at 5500 miles and was due for its second oil change at 11500 but will more than likely need an engine replacement.

Feb 2025 ENGINE Shortly after I bought this truck, At about 3,000miles I thought it had an exhaust leak, I took it in to Chevy and they kept it for a few days. Well they get back to me and said that the lifters had failed. They put new ones in and these too failed. Then about 2 weeks later they got back to me saying they were waiting on putting a new motor in for the truck. This is the 6.2L that is known for lifter failure. After about 2 more weeks they reached back out and had said that the truck was almost done. When I got the call to come get it, I asked when I got there what do I do when this keeps happening in the future of me owning the truck. The service guy shrugged his shoulders and said “buy and extended warranty.” He then proceeded to tell me to buy a chip that will delete the DFM in the truck but will void my factory warranty. I’m very frustrated and worried for myself in the future with this truck. I’ve already spent so much buying the truck and in a few years when my warranty expires and this happens again that will be out of my pocket.

Jan 2025 ENGINE Subject: Engine Failure – 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (6.2L V8 •VIN: [XXX] Issue Description: While driving on [XXX], I noticed the transmission would downshift but not upshift. Within seconds, a warning appeared: “Oil temperature high, idle engine.” I began merging onto the shoulder, but before I could get there, the engine shut off completely, and the transmission shifted into neutral. After coasting to the shoulder, the transmission shifted into park on its own. Failure to Restart & Electrical Issues: I attempted to restart the engine, but it would not turn over. The dashboard, radio, and electronics turned off for a few seconds before coming back on, but the engine remained unresponsive. Towing Difficulties & Roadside Assistance Failure: GM Roadside Assistance said no contracted towing companies had the equipment to tow my truck because it would not shift into neutral without the engine running. I had to find and pay for a tow truck myself, with no guarantee of reimbursement. Dealer Response & Repair Delays: My truck has been at the dealership for days, but they have not started repairs due to technician shortages and a backlog of work. They stated: •Manually cranking the engine is nearly impossible. •The starter is not strong enough to turn it. •Repairs could take months. Loaner Car & Additional Hardships: Per the GM warranty, I received a loaner car but must return it every 500 miles. Since I commute 160 miles per day, I must frequently exchange it, causing major inconvenience. Safety Concerns & Requested Action: This sudden engine failure on the highway was a significant safety risk. Given that NHTSA is investigating failures of the GM 6.2L V8 (L87), I believe my case is related. GM should issue a recall or extended warranty for affected vehicles.
