Oct 2025 POWER TRAIN Driving at highway speeds, truck downshifted to low gear causing a sudden deceleration and check engine light appeared along with 'Service Transmission' message. Was almost rear ended by multiple cars, but was able to guide truck to the shoulder through traffic. Shut down truck and restarted with message still appearing although gear shifting seemed to be normal. After stopping at a gas station to look up error, on next restart error cleared and truck drove for almost a week without issue and ~300-400 miles. Once again driving at highway speeds the same scenario happened with downshift in heavy traffic and had to pull to the shoulder. Waiting to bring to dealer, but mileage on truck is just over the 60,000 mi warranty period. Codes on reader indicate P0700 and P0747.

Oct 2025 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Truck shut off as I was driving. NO Warning. On a hill poor visibility Gratefully no injury. Required tow truck to dealer. Just received statement REPLACED FUEL CONTROL MODULE. Vehicle has 14000 miles Cost was covered by warranty but this should not have happened! Warranty does does not cover how shaken as I am a senior driver trusting this truck.

Oct 2025 ENGINE Driving down the road and the engine turns off with no warning lights, noise, or any indication of an issue. I was luckily able to use momentum and move to the side of the road. The Chevy dealer has inspected the engine and concluded that the engine is blown.

Oct 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER It burns a significant amount of oil. I had an oil consumption test completed with a GM dealership, they state it is in their guidelines of standard. It burns around 2 quarts of oil within 5000 miles, so between oil changes. The add oil alert popped up while I was driving down the highway. My truck has 33500 miles on it, it should not be normal for a new truck to burn that much oil. They will not check my engine to identify the cause because they state it is within their standards.

Oct 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,BACK OVER PREVENTION Sometime between backing into my parking spot at work, then backing into a parking spot at the dentist, My Tailgate released/lowered. When I backed in at the dentist, my back up camera seemed to malfunction, so I just used my mirrors. Apparently, the camera was just pointing at the ground. Sine you can't see your tailgate in the mirrors; I could not see that it hit the retaining wall at the back of the space.

Oct 2025 POWER TRAIN While driving at low speeds with light acceleration, the truck seems to sputter. When activating trailer mode this issue stops leading me to believe there is an issue with the torque converter. By searching forums, this seems to be a known issue with these vehicles. With it being as widespread as it is, I fell like this constitutes some sort of recall or customer satisfaction type of action.

Oct 2025 ENGINE I am filing a complaint regarding a potential recurring safety defect related to Recall NHTSA 25V274 (GM N252494001). On July 29, 2025, my vehicle stalled while driving on the highway and was towed to Quality Chevrolet. The dealer diagnosed a failed starter and battery fuse link. During this visit, I authorized inspection for Recall 25V274, concerning possible crankshaft or connecting rod failure. I was told my vehicle was not affected but the dealer performed the recall remedy by changing the oil to 0W-40. On October 5, 2025, the vehicle developed a loud knocking noise from the engine. Quality Chevrolet diagnosed a connecting rod failure, the same issue identified in the recall. On October 10, 2025, I was advised that GM approved a full engine replacement due to internal damage. However, I was also told the new engine will use lower viscosity 0W-20 oil, contradicting the prior remedy intended to prevent this failure. This suggests the original recall fix was only a temporary measure, and the defect remains unresolved. I request that NHTSA investigate whether the current recall remedy adequately corrects this safety issue and whether GM’s use of 0W-20 oil could allow repeat failures. Additionally, I request assistance or reimbursement for vehicle payments, as my vehicle has been undrivable for an extended period due to a manufacturer defect. Thank you for your time and attention. I can provide all service records and diagnostic reports upon request.

Oct 2025 SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while pulling into a parking space and turning the steering wheel to the right, the vehicle surged forward going up onto the curb, and the contact depressed the brake pedal; however, the vehicle failed to stop. The contact continued to depress the brake pedal however, the vehicle continued driving approximately 5-10 MPH. The contact shifted into neutral(N); however, it was too late, and the vehicle crashed into another parked vehicle before coming to a stop. The contact stated that during the failure, the braking system had malfunctioned while depressing the brake pedal. No injuries were reported. A Police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that one week before the failure, at almost the same spot, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Forward Collision Avoidance warning light illuminated and remained illuminated without another vehicle being nearby. The contact turned off the vehicle, exited the vehicle and inspected the vehicle before re-entering and restarting the vehicle, and the Forward Collision Avoidance warning light remained illuminated. The contact turned and restarted the vehicle and the warning light was no longer illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.

Oct 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM My telematic control module has intermittent connectivity. The check engine light comes on and off and the go's, on star and wifi comes and goes as well. This vehicle has 52k miles on it and is only 2 years old. The shop I took this to said it is VIN specific so the dealer is the only place that can fix it. This is a safety issue due to no onstar as onstar claims to be a safety feature. This needs a recall because this issue is all over the place on gm products.

Oct 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER I was traveling when on my dash came up "software update available" so I looked at how to and said truck will need to be off for 15 minutes during software installation so I decided to wait until I got home from trip. So on the moring of October 2, 2025 did the software update in my driveway. Then in the afternoon needed to go somewhere and I saw the service engine warning symbol on dash. Went to where I needed to go, 4 miles from home. Then when I was finished headed home and on way home warning on dash came up, "Service Transmission Now Unable to Shift Soon". So I got home and made some phone calls and ended up taking truck into Polar Chevrolet, White Bear Lake, MN. Thursday before they closed. Friday October 3 got a call from Polar Chev and issue is "Gearshit control module", part number 86515985. But was told part was out of stock and could take 1 week or even upto 1 month for them to get part. Looking on internet did see that this warning has come on from other people right after they did the software update. Needless to say my estimate for repair is going to be somewhere form $900 - $1000. So now have to wait and see when they get part and if it is actually issue.

Oct 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country has experienced multiple powertrain and transmission failures beginning shortly after purchase. The issues include violent shifting, hesitation, and stalling, particularly while accelerating or decelerating. These malfunctions create serious safety risks—especially when merging, turning left across traffic, or entering intersections. The truck has been returned to authorized GM dealerships multiple times for diagnostics and repair. GM service departments confirmed transmission faults but have not successfully resolved the issue despite repeated attempts. The same problems reoccur shortly after each repair. At times, the vehicle has entered “limp mode” unexpectedly while driving, causing a loss of power. On at least one occasion, this occurred while driving on a busy highway, forcing evasive action to avoid a collision. Warning lights such as the “check engine” light and service alerts frequently appear before or during these incidents. To date, the vehicle has been inspected by GM-certified technicians at authorized dealerships. A case has been opened with GM customer care and BBB AUTO LINE arbitration has been initiated. The truck remains unreliable and unsafe to operate, especially with children on board. The risk of sudden power loss or drivetrain malfunction poses a clear hazard to occupants and other drivers.

Sep 2025 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Date of Incident: [XXX] Approximate Time of Incident: [XXX] EST Location of Incident (City and State): Tallahassee, Florida Street or Highway Name: [XXX], lane between [XXX] & [XXX] Weather Conditions: Clear and dry, approximately 90°F While traveling at approximately 72 MPH in the center lane of [XXX] westbound near Tallahassee, FL, the vehicle suddenly began rapidly decelerating after shuttering, as if the brakes were being applied without driver input. A warning message appeared on the dashboard instructing the driver to restart the engine. At the same time, the steering and brakes became noticeably stiffer, suggesting that the engine had shut down. The driver navigated across high-speed traffic, nearly avoiding being rear-ended by other vehicles, and was able to bring the vehicle to a stop on the shoulder. Multiple attempts to restart the vehicle were unsuccessful. The incident posed a serious safety risk due to the loss of engine power and driving assist features in active interstate traffic. After the incident, the vehicle was towed to Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet (3127 W Tennessee St, Tallahassee, FL 32304), where it is scheduled for inspection on or after Monday, September 30, 2025. The dealership may retain the faulty part(s) and the vehicle is available for further inspection upon request. No prior warning lights or symptoms were noticed before the incident occurred. Sep 2025 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The vehicle was recently repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact understood that the option was to use a higher viscosity oil, replace the oil fill cap, and oil filter replacement. The contact stated that the remedy was insufficient to resolve a possible failure with the engine. The contact was hearing abnormal ticking sounds coming from the engine after starting the vehicle in the morning since the recall repair. The contact stated that once the engine had warmed up, the ticking sound ceased. There was no warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The contact had not experienced a failure with the engine.

Sep 2025 POWER TRAIN The vehicle has been exhibiting occasional hard shifts over the last 2-3 months. Over the last 2-3 weeks the frequency has increased. While operating the vehicle at approximately 30 mph the rear wheels temporarily locked during one of these events while my wife was operating the vehicle. There was no indication that this was going to happen and no indication after the event. We took the vehicle to the dealership where they performed a diagnostic but found nothing wrong. In the week since picking up the vehicle I have been operating it. I experienced two occasions where upon trying to accelerate at approximately 30 mph there was a severe jolt that caused the traction control warning light to flash. This was under minor acceleration just to maintain speed when going uphill. There was no indication prior to the event and once it had concluded the lights went off. I also experienced an occurrence of the rear wheels locking temporarily. I was traveling at approximately 40 mph on flat ground and gently stepped on the accelerator to maintain my speed in traffic. The rear tires locked for 1-2 seconds to the point the tires were squealing and you could smell burning rubber. There was no indication prior to the event that it was coming. Given my necessary reaction I was unable to see if there were any indicators or warnings present. Following the event there were no indicators illuminated. Outside of these events the vehicle seems to operate normally. It runs well and generally shifts smooth. However, the rear wheels locking up unexpectedly presents an unacceptable hazard that is not resulting in any evidence that the dealer can use to troubleshoot.

Sep 2025 POWER TRAIN Over the past 4–6 months, the transmission in my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has repeatedly failed in a way that creates a serious safety hazard. On multiple occasions while driving at highway speeds, the transmission has locked up the rear end, causing a sudden and violent loss of control. These incidents nearly resulted in collisions and could have caused serious injury or death. The truck will no longer shift at all and is now completely inoperable. These failures happen without warning and present a severe risk of total loss of vehicle control. Date(s) of Incident: Multiple occurrences between approximately March 2025 and August 2025 (exact dates unknown). Dealer / Manufacturer Response: I contacted Chevrolet Customer Care and multiple Chevrolet dealerships in my area (including John Megel Chevrolet, Dawsonville, GA). My most recent case was closed without resolution. I have been denied a loaner or reimbursement for a rental vehicle, and I have been told that the repair could take at least a month before even being assessed, with additional delays for parts. Consequence: This is not only a serious safety hazard but also a severe financial and employment hardship. I rely on this truck for my job, and without it, I cannot work. I am now three months behind on my truck payments and other bills, and I am on the verge of losing my job because I have no transportation. GM’s failure to repair or provide alternate transportation has left me stranded, financially unstable, and at risk of unemployment — all while the vehicle remains under an extended warranty. Request to NHTSA: I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether this defect is part of a wider safety issue affecting 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 transmissions and determine if a safety recall is warranted.

Sep 2025 POWER TRAIN Engine coolant valve failure causing vehicle to go into reduced power mode while traveling on highway causing vehicle to travel at a slow unsafe speed in relation to other traffic. Check engine light activated, reduced power activated. Chevrolet dealership confirmed engine coolant control valve issue. Engine control valve must be replaced before vehicle can be driven. Engine Coolant control valve is on back order. No part replacement time frame due to back order. Safety concerns with reduced power mode on roadway with speed limits greater than 45 mph.

Aug 2025 ENGINE We bought 2 of the same exact trucks last year. They each had no miles on them. My business partner was coming home from vacation and stated hearing ticking. We took it to our mechanic and he said it’s a blown motor. Prior to leaving for vacation, an oil change was done on the truck. When the mechanic said the motor is blown he also said it’s down 3 quarts of oil. All scheduled maintenance was done on the truck routinely. We took the truck back to the shop that did the oil change and they had recorded the service, there was no doubt the oil was changed the prior week but it was now black and down three quarts.

Aug 2025 ENGINE I have a 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 3.0L Duramax Trail Boss. Temperature gauge keeps flocculating, engine fan kicks on at 100% and shuts off the AC. Warning on dash engine temperature to high AC shutting off and engine over heat. Took it to the dealership for the truck is still under warranty. They diagnosed it as a faulty coolant control valve. Was told it was safe to drive by the technician but I question that. Dealership ordered the part four weeks ago and it still has not come in. When I inquired about the delay, I found out it is on back order and the availability of the part long wait time. Further research found that this is a systemic issue owners are having with this specific engine since 2020. Yet GM has not done a recall nor is there supply stockage of this part, seeing how this part commonly fails.

Aug 2025 POWER TRAIN While driving 55 mph and towing my boat on a 2 lane paved road , I started up a slight incline and the transmission downshifted so hard that the rear wheels locked up long enough to throw us into the dash even with seat belts on. I turned around an drove back home with it locking up again. No codes or lights on the dash. Took it to dealer June 26,2025 for dealer to diagnose issue. They kept it overnight and drove it about 60 miles, called me the next day to pick it up saying they could not duplicate the rear wheel lockup and since there were no codes there was nothing to fix. Tried to tell me it was my boat trailer causing the issue. Boat trailer has surge brakes, nothing electrical on trailer brakes. Over the next couple days the rear wheels locked up 2 more times. Always as I started up an incline going around 50-55 mph. No lights or codes July 2, 2025 we recorded on video 2 rear wheel lockups with the second lockup starting a slight fishtail on dry pavement and leaving a 5 foot skid mark. Went back to the dealership with the video and they said again if there are no codes they can’t fix it and they would try to duplicate the issue for me to leave the truck and not give me a rental vehicle , and no timeline on how long they would try to duplicate the issue. I did not leave my truck there and they kept promising to call me when they had a loaner vehicle for me to use. On July 14, 2025 ,while still waiting for a loaner vehicle the transmission finally locked up the rear wheels and check engine light came on. My mileage was 43078, it took 1,193 miles to finally throw codes that the dealership would fix. Codes were P0700 and P0747. These are same codes for safety recalls N242454440 and N242454441. Obviously my vin is not included in the recalls but the dealership should have put the software on my truck the first time I was there on June 27th, the same day they completed the Pa.state inspection on my vehicle. I wouldn’t have had to experience this unsafe conditions.
