Jan 2026 ENGINE General Motors sent me a letter regarding a safety recall regarding my 6.2L V8 gas engine (ROP L87). Safety recall N252494000. I learned that my truck has the potential to have a complete engine failure. I took my truck to the dealership and all they did was an inspection and changed the oil on it. I'm not a mechanic, but total engine failure is concerning to say the least. I doubt simple change in oil thickness remedies serious recall. I learned there is an open lawsuit regarding this issue. I need Chevy to take this matter more serious, Im driving my family around in a ticking time bomb. I demand more than a band-aid. I want Chevy to replace my engine with a new reliable one.

Jan 2026 ENGINE While driving at 70mph, my vehicle spontaneously shifted into Neutral and therefore dropped power to the transmission. I was unable to shift out of Neutral and therefore had to coast to the shoulder. Upon coming to a complete stop, my truck independently shifted into Park. Again, I was unable to shift out of Park. I turned my truck off, let it sit for a few seconds before unsuccessfully attempting to restart my vehicle. Multiple attempts to restart my vehicle continued to be unsuccessful and the vehicle system would reboot then shut off.

Dec 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The vehicle 'turned off' while in motion at around 35-40 mph on a busy 5-lane major arterial road in the city on 12/21/2025 at around 0630-0700 hours. Driver (author of this report) was able to turn into a side road and stop. Message "Press start button" displayed on dash panel. Complying with this action led to a coughing start but vehicle could not be put into drive mode because a second message appeared saying "Conditions not safe for transfer". Eventually over next minute or two vehicle coughed up to a start again and was able to put into drive mode and drive to parking garage to safety. Driver was able to drive back about 3 hours later with no recurrence or new malfunction. No warning lights throughout the episode. My Chevrolet mobile app also did not display error messages. Vehicle was driven (without incident) and delivered to a Chevrolet dealer on 12/24/2025 for diagnostics and workup and is currently situated there.

Dec 2025 STRUCTURE My tailgate latch keeps opening every 60 seconds. Does it going down the road or parked. my tailgate has hit numerous cars that parked behind me causing me to have to pay out of pocket for 2 other cars where my tailgate dented or scraped the paint on their vehicles. I see this safety recall online for this tailgate latch, but my vehicle isn't covered for some reason. Safety recall N232426400 explains the entire issue with the faulty latches. Due to the faulty latch, now my tailgate also needs bodywork and to be repainted. That's costly.

Dec 2025 POWER TRAIN I have an 2023 L87 engine that could stop functioning at any moment. I'm retired and bought this vehicle as my last truck. I don't feel safe driving it on long trips which is why I bought it. Also the transmission shifts rough from 1st to 2nd when I accelerate. When I inquired about the transmission problem at the dealership the showed me a letter sized notice saying this might be a problem. But I was not notified about this when I purchased the truck. I would prefer to just return the truck as I have it financed with GM Financial with no money down and am willing to just eat what I have already paid to get out of this ticking time bomb which I'm not comfortable driving long distance as [XXX]. Dec 2025 POWER TRAIN,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM was crossing an intersection when the truck suddenly and without warning stopped (engine). Unable to shift the truck into neutral in order to move the truck out of the flow of traffic. This is because the truck has the electronic shifter which requires the truck to be running in order to shift. There is not a manual override. So basically the truck was in the middle of an intersection with cars and trucks weaving around it until the tow truck arrived. But since the truck wasn’t able to be shifter into neutral the tow truck had to maneuver around to the front and “drag the truck onto a flat bed in order to clear the vehicle. Also it turns out that there is a major issue with the fuel pump module on these trucks and the tow truck driver said he has seen this happen a lot and very common. As a result these types of issues are likely to result in a near of fatal accident in the near future.

Dec 2025 ENGINE While driving at highway speeds, in traffic, all dash lights lit up and the engine shut off. The truck began decelerating on its own, I couldn’t brake and could barely steer. Luckily I was going fast enough that I managed to coast about a hundred feet to get partly out of traffic. The truck would never start again and I had to wait for 7 hours for GM roadside assistance to tow me to a Chevy dealer that was 4.6 miles away. 23 hours later the dealer called me and told me the starter caused the problem, in which I told them made no sense. 30 mins later they called and said the motor failed due to recall N252494003 for the L87 engine. My truck had passed the recall inspection for this recall on Sep 24th, 2025 and received the new oil that was supposed to prevent this failure. I had also just had the oil changed again around Nov 13th because the FCW module needed a firmware update and was not functioning. The truck had given NO warning or issues previous to Dec 3rd.

Nov 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE I was driving my vehicle when the check engine light came on and a message then came across the screen and stated the truck would no longer shift if I didn’t stop driving it. I took It immediately to Autonation Chevrolet Service on Nov 9. I received it back on 11/26 my service advisor said it passed inspection that no work was completed I needed to use high synthetic oil and filters for my truck to keep it going. This doesn’t sound correct when I’ve owned several Chevy/GMC trucks. I only have 33k miles on my truck and want the recall fixed. Please help me get this taken care of. Nov 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER GPS system behaves erratically. (Position jumps around). Phone gps very stable. While using navigation in the truck the jumping position causes the map to jump and swing also it lags behind missing turns etc. This is proving to more of a distraction making me look at the map longer. I tried dealership and they said it works while I have video evidence of its behavior. I will try another dealership but maybe thousands of others are having same issue and this help to force a fix.

Oct 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM While driving and idling, my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country equipped with the 6.2L v8 engine began experiencing a persistent audible ticking/clicking noise from the engine bay, rough idle during cold starts, and noticeable/abnormal engine vibration. Shortly after, the check engine light came on. When scanned, diagnostic codes P0304 (Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected) and P050D (Cold start Rough Idle) were retrieved. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership, and the service advisor and technician confirmed hearing a consistent clicking noise and documented that they contacted GM's Technical Assistance Center (TAC case #80413912). The service order report states: "Due to unknown noise cannot perform recall. Called TAC 80413912 and was told need to figure out top end noise and misfire before proceeding with recall. If repairs are related to top end, will not be covered under recall." The technician indicated this could be related to a camshaft and lifter issue, which matches the symptoms outlined in GM's active propulsion system recall for 6.2L engines. Suggests GM aware & has not yet confirmed full recall coverage/repairs. This issue presents a significant safety risk because the engine could experience sudden power loss or failure while driving, potentially leading to loss of propulsion or control. These symptoms are identical to those described by GM in their recall documentation concerning valve lifter and camshaft failures. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealership, and all documentation, diagnostics reports, and service notes are available for inspection upon request. Warning/check-engine lights first appeared in October 2025, and the problem persists. Based on GM's recall acknowledgment of similar failures, I believe this defect should be fully covered under the existing recall, and I am requesting NHTSA's review to ensure manufacturer addresses this safety-related defect promptly and without cost to owners.
