| Oct 2025 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I am writing to formally document a series of serious safety incidents and ongoing concerns regarding my 2024 Toyota Tundra, which I believe reflect a critical design flaw and a failure by Toyota to act in accordance with its obligations to customer safety and product reliability. In August 2025, while driving on the interstate with my minor child in the vehicle, I experienced a sudden and unexpected engine malfunction. The failure required me to swerve off the road at high speed, nearly resulting in a serious collision. This incident placed both my life and my child's life in immediate danger. The vehicle was towed via Toyota’s SOS service to Green’s Toyota of Lexington, KY. Upon evaluation, I was informed by Service Manager Justin that the issue was consistent with the engine failures that led to a recall of the 2022 and 2023 Toyota Tundra models. However, because my 2024 model has not yet been included in the recall—despite sharing the same apparent defect—I was told that Toyota would rebuild the engine rather than replace it. I expressed strong concerns regarding the safety and long-term reliability of a rebuilt engine in a new vehicle. I was reassured that a rebuilt engine would be “just as good,” despite clear evidence to the contrary based on subsequent events. As a result of this dangerous failure and Toyota’s inadequate response, I submitted a formal buyback request to Toyota Customer Care, citing serious and ongoing safety concerns. The dealership nevertheless indicated I would likely be denied a buyback, which I found deeply troubling given the known defect and the high-risk circumstances involved. During the initial repair, I visited the dealership to retrieve personal belongings and observed the vehicle in a completely dismantled state. The cab had been removed, and the engine was fully disassembled with parts scattered on the ground. This unprofessional and chaotic environment caused further loss of confidence in the repair quality and safety of th | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Sep 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Complete engine failure at 62,000 miles. This has been an ongoing problem with Toyota tundras with a V6 twin turbo. I was told that the dealership that the 2024 models were not affected by the known manufacturing defect. There’s been a complete recall of the 2022 and the 2023 models. This could be a safety issue if I was driving on the highway and had the engine failure. The dealer confirmed that this is an ongoing issue, and there may be an expansion of the recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Sep 2025 | ENGINE | Vehicle completely shut off on remote 2 lane country road while traveling. No warning lights were noted or noises observed before the engine failure. Truck power steering failed to operate at optimal due to the engine cutting off. Was hard to get vehicle off into the grass as there were no shoulders to pull off to. Vehicle behind me as coming up a hill when this occurred had to break as well. The vehicle was towed to a dealership and they have confirmed catastrophic engine damage, and found metal in oil pan. This same problem occurred with the 23 Toyota Tundra's as well. The vehicle is currently at Bruner Toyota in Brownwood, Texas and a Toyota technician has been brought in. The truck has 47,698 miles on it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Sep 2025 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the engine seized. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road. The message "Engine Shut Off - Pull Over" was displayed. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the engine had failed. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 45,000 |
| Aug 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The driver was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure of the front main bearing in the engine because of metal debris and contamination. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be partially rebuilt. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V381000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 29,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 29,000 |
| Aug 2025 | POWER TRAIN | There is an occasional lag between when I press the accelerator to when the engine actually revs up. It's usually fairly minor at less than 1 second but today I was making a left turn on a busy road and the lag time was closer to 2-3 seconds and almost caused me to get T boned by two cars coming from my left. It happens from still and from slight rolling. Today I was completely stopped. I hit the gas and all it gave me was enough to roll me into oncoming traffic and then I was stuck in their lanes until it finally kicked in and carried me on through the turn. Apparently this is a known issue with a TSB for 22 and 23 year models. This is extremely dangerous and should warrant a recall before someone gets killed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Ran out of fuel on highway due to erroneous fuel guage. Truck when parked on an incline will show a full tank after starting even though gas tank is 3/4 full. | Aug 2025 | SUSPENSION,WHEELS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I am the original owner of a brand new 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, and this issue began within the first 15,000 miles of regular dealer-maintained use. At approximately 14,800 miles, I noticed unusual and rapid outer shoulder wear on all four OEM Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 285/65R18 tires. A professional alignment inspection performed by Toyota Carlsbad dealership confirmed that the factory-set front toe angle was significantly out of Toyota’s specification (left front toe: +0.30°, right front: +0.10°, total front toe: +0.39°). This incorrect alignment was present from the factory and caused tire damage before any corrections were made. These settings match exactly what is described in Toyota Limited Service Campaign 24TD01, which applies to 2022–2023 Tundra models. However, my 2024 vehicle is not included, even though the defect and symptoms are identical. The alignment defect was confirmed and corrected by the dealership, but Toyota refused to replace the damaged tires, stating it is not a warrantable condition. However, this wear was directly caused by the misalignment on a new, factory-spec vehicle, maintained per Toyota guidelines. This condition presents a clear safety risk, as premature outer tire wear significantly reduces traction, affects handling, and increases stopping distance—especially in wet or emergency conditions. There were no warning lights or messages, making the condition undetectable until visible tire damage occurred. I filed a formal complaint with Toyota USA, but they declined further assistance. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether Toyota should expand Campaign 24TD01 to include 2024 models with the same alignment-related defect. The tires are available for inspection. I have supporting documentation including alignment reports, photos of tire wear, and communications with Toyota regarding this case #. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | WHEELS | Complaint Against: Toyota Motor North America Category: Vehicle Warranty Obligations Toyota USA Case Number: [XXX] Dealer: Toyota Carlsbad Service Advisor: Ken McDonald Date Warranty Claim Submitted: [XXX] Date of Denial: [XXX] I am filing a complaint regarding Toyota’s denial of warranty coverage for premature tire wear on all four factory-installed Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 285/65R18 tires on my 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. By 15,000 miles, I observed outer edge wear — a typical symptom of incorrect factory alignment. Following the dealer’s recommendation, I performed an alignment, and all scheduled maintenance, including tire rotations, has been completed at authorized Toyota dealerships. On [XXX], I submitted a warranty claim at Toyota Carlsbad. Ken McDonald inspected the tires and took photos, but no diagnostic work was performed — no alignment check, no suspension inspection. A month later, Toyota USA denied the claim based solely on Ken McDonald’s verbal opinion that “the problem is with the tires,” without any technical evaluation or factual basis. This is unacceptable. My issue clearly matches Toyota Service Campaign 24TD01, which confirms that certain 2022–2024 Tundra models may experience premature outer edge tire wear due to factory misalignment. My vehicle fits this description exactly. Requested Resolution: Replacement of the damaged tires under warranty or fair compensation for the financial loss. Toyota’s response represents a failure to uphold warranty obligations, raises serious safety concerns, and violates consumer rights. I respectfully request that the Better Business Bureau help ensure this case is reviewed fairly. | Jul 2025 | SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN | I feel a slight thud when hitting exactly 40MPH. This happens in Normal, Sport, and Echo. I can feel the thud from the steering wheel and gas pedal. I think it is a transmission fault since it happens exactly at 40 every time, even on smooth roads. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owned a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in front the detached garage, the vehicle caught on fire and the incident was caught on the neighbor's camera at 4:31 AM. The neighbor then informed the contact of the incident. The contact noticed that the vehicle had caught on fire and the fire was mainly coming out of the gas pillar area. The contact stated that the entire vehicle had burned to the ground. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. A fire department report was filed. No police report was filed. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle remained at the scene and was in the process of being totaled by the insurance company. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided vehicle rental assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it would take up to 30 days for a field investigator to inspect the vehicle. Additionally, the contact was informed that it could take up to 45-60 days to determine whether there was liability. The failure mileage was approximately 13,900. | Crash: No Fire: Yes | 13,900 |
| Jul 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | 2024 Toyota Tundra is parked on an semi-inclined driveway. The fuel gauge and miles to empty resets back to full and the miles to empty at the max around 420 miles back to empty. Reported this incident when the mileage was around 300 to the dealership and nothing was done. A year forward I am still having this fuel gauge and miles reset issue. This is a safety hazard primarily due to the risk of unexpectedly running out of fuel. While the inaccurate reading itself doesn't directly damage the engine, running out of gas can lead to several problems. It's important to address a malfunctioning fuel gauge promptly. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | WhenThe truck is on cruise control and there is a need to pass a vehicle in the freeway; I lightly accelerate push the pedal then there is no response ( the vehicle hesitates for a second or two) ; and suddenly the engine revs up (and jerks the truck) and slams the transmission to start accelerating. I looked up this issue and realized that may be a common issue. this has happened in several occasions since I bought the truck last year, I drive my truck very carefully. I will bring this issue to the attention of the dealer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | I am experiencing premature and uneven tire wear on my 2024 Toyota Tundra, specifically on the outer edges of the front tires. This has occurred despite proper rotation and no off-road use, the tires showed significant edge wear. Multiple alignment checks revealed improper front end camber and Toe settings, which appear to be part of a wider issue affecting many 2022-2024 Tundra's, especially 4WD models. Toyota has not issued a recall but has quietly revised alignment specifications at the dealer level to address the problem. This defect compromises tire life, vehicle handling, and potentially safety. I believe this issue should be formally investigated and addressed by the NHTSA. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2025 | POWER TRAIN | My motor shut off while I was driving. I had to have it towed to the dealership and they diagnosed the problem as a failed. Connection rod bearing. This requires an engine replacement to remedy the situation. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2025 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormally loud knocking sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The dealer performed an oil change. The contact stated that five days later the failure reoccurred. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an extremely loud knocking sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed crankcase which resulted in metal shavings in being found in the engine oil. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised that the repair was not covered under any special programs or warranty. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a pre-existing failure caused by flooding. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,596. | Crash: No Fire: No | 4,596 |
| Jun 2025 | STRUCTURE | Driving 35 milers per hour down side road with no cars in front or behind us, and no cars passing us. The sunpanel burst and shattered into thousands of pieces .There was glass stuck into metal bar in rear, that’s how strong the explosion was. Pictures provided. I can confirm there was no chip in sunpanel prior to this happening. This is a huge safety issue. If the cloth panel was pulled back exposing the glass into the vehicle we would have glass stuck or embedded in our heads and we could have caused a major accident. The loud noise sounded like a gun shot and the driver swerved the car and slammed on the breaks because the sound was so loud. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | AIR BAGS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Hit a deer going 53mph, and the air bags did not deploy. Truck dashboard said that air bags were deploying, and then that they had deployed, but the air bags never deployed. The emergency braking and collision warning system all worked fine. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | This truck has squeaky brakes. I have complained to the dealer and filed a complaint with the complaint department at the corporate office. They are aware of the situation. I keep being told it is a know issue and parts are not available to repair the situation. Because this is a brake issue I am very concerned about my safety as I drive this vehicle, Please investigate this issue with Toyota and I believe a safety recall should be issued, In my many conversations with them I don.t feel they are concerned with this issue. I have been complaining and following up for over a year. I'm tired of complaining on deaf ears. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
