| Jun 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | When I am stopped at a traffic light (or even when traffic comes to a stop on the interstate highway in traffic), when I begin to drive again, all of a sudden the automatic braking system engages and slams on the brakes when there is nothing in front of me that I could collide with (because the car in front of me has driven forward and out of the way). Each time it happens I am terrified the person behind me is going to rear end me because I have started to drive already and the car suddenly and inexplicably slams the brakes on hard. The brakes just did nothing when I mashed down and finally kicked in and I stopped before crashing into the Honda in front of me. | Jun 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | Our car shuttered quite strongly on two occasions, while going at a low speed (around 5 miles per hour) and applying the brakes over a rough surface (pavers and a speed bump). We advised Larry H Miller Hyundai Peoria Service Department of this when we took the vehicle in for our complimentary maintenance on 12/03/24. They advised there was a TSB with this as a known issue and they found "7949 Front Brake Rotors Warp 51712A00 1.10 verify and found front brake rotors out of round perform front brake rotor machining and test drove car and verify working operation." When my front wheels went over the bump, my Palisade started shaking uncontrollably, I had ZERO brake power and just missed hitting the car in front of me that started to pull away! I reached out to the dealer who stated that this is 'normal' to happen from time to time. This happened in October, 2024. I went to an online forum for a Palisade group on FB and asked and could not believe how many people this has happened to!! The general content was they were all told it was normal too, which we simply do not believe. Then it just happened today!! In my own driveway, gravel. I almost ran straight into the garage door going under 5 MPH, but again, very scary! I carry around my four grandchildren alot and the thought of this happening and them being hurt has caused me to reach out to NHTSA. | Jun 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | I was leaving a parking lot and getting ready to turn onto a busy road with my family. As I approached the road and started to brake, we went over a number of pot holes. When that happened, the whole car started to shake and I noticed that we were not slowing down. I don't know what was going on but I was scared. We were approaching a busy road quickly and I did not feel safe. I pressed HARD down on the brakes and eventually we came to a HARD stop. I told my wife what happened and she said that similar things have happened to her when she was braking and she had to swerve off of the road to avoid hitting the car in front of her. There is definately something going on with the ABS system. Going over the bumps through off the entire system and would't let me brake. I have not taken it to a dealer and it has never been inspected by anyone. The car's brakes locked up ...the abs engaged and braking was good, but it did not release as i let my foot of the brake, causing my car to come to a near complete stop. When traveling at relatively low speeds (<20 mph) and over uneven surfaces (train tracks, pot holes, speed bumps, entering parking lots) the brake pedal will go all the way to the floor while the vehicle stutters. The ABS makes the vehicle shake even after the surface has returned to normal and the vehicle stopping distance dramatically increases from where it should be. This is repeatedly replicated and has nearly resulted in rear-end collisions. | May 2025 | SEATS | Subject: Safety Concern – 2024 Hyundai Palisade Headrest Design Component Affected: Seats / Headrest Vehicle: 2024 Hyundai Palisade VIN: [XXX] Incident Date: [xxx] Mileage at Time of Incident: 15,000 Dealer: Braman Hyundai Miami, 2001 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33137 | (786) 623-4261 Dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a safety concern involving the headrest design in my 2024 Hyundai Palisade. On [xxx], my [XXX] son briefly removed and reinserted the middle-row headrest while unsupervised. The headrest locked into place in a reversed orientation and could not be removed or corrected without disassembly by the dealership. I was charged $680 for the repair. This incident raises the following concerns: •The headrest should not be capable of locking in an incorrect and potentially unsafe position. •There are no warnings, labels, or mechanical safeguards to prevent reverse installation. •The owner's manual provides no guidance on this possibility. •This design flaw is particularly troubling in a family-oriented vehicle. •Hyundai has not acknowledged fault or offered support despite the safety implications. I believe this represents a design defect with implications under FMVSS 202a and related passenger safety standards. I am therefore requesting the following: 1.Full reimbursement of the $680 repair cost, which I believe resulted from a manufacturer design oversight. 2.Written acknowledgment of whether Hyundai has previously received similar reports, and whether a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) or other corrective measure is planned. 3.Confirmation that this report will be reviewed by Hyundai’s safety or compliance team. When I’m driving slowly over any type on bump in the road, railroad track, pulling in a driveway, dirt roads, or gravel roads my brakes lock up the whole front of my car shakes and the vehicle almost jumps up and down and then it takes about 3-5 seconds for me to be able to slam on my brakes to come to a complete stop while still inching forward before I can fully stop. •How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I’ve almost ran into a mailbox, almost got rear ended and almost braked out onto a highway because the brakes locked up. My safety and the safety of other is major concern with the brake issue and not being able to stop, those few seconds make a difference. •Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I’ve had my car to the dealership 5 times. The second time one guy was able to duplicate the issue, so they fixed some part, but that didn’t solve my issue I had it back to them within a couple of days. The other times they have not been able to duplicate the issue. •Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? This last time I brought it an engineer was supposed to come and look at it but when the tech explained what is going on he says it supposed to do that. It is not supposed to what it is doing because it’s a major safety issue for me and others since I can’t break. •Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? When the issue arises there are no warning lamps or messages that come up on the dashboard or anywhere. Also, no code is thrown when the dealership hooks it up to the machine. Told hyundai about first incident when they did oil change on December 27th (at which time it had occurred twice) and they stated no issues with breaks. Has happened now more often (averaging one time a month or more). Took my vehicle in again on May 20th, 2025, they said they couldn't replicate the issue so I went back to the dealership on May 21st, 2025 and did a ride with a tech where we got the issue to trigger multiple times. Dealership had not provided an update until a few minutes ago. They stated they called their tech service line and that "they could not advise them on a repair" - service manager said that's the first time he's heard that and the car is with his manager and who will be trying to call their local area rep. Here is what she communicated to me. 1) The headlights are designed this way. 2) She believes it is a standard design used by other companies as well. 3) This closes out my complaint with Hyundai. | May 2025 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING | This is an update to my previous complaint 11655582. Hyundai replaced the left headlight assembly on 5-5-25. Email I sent to Hyundai this morning: "I drove the car Tuesday evening and noticed the same problem as before the left headlight replacement. Later, at nearly 10:00 PM, I took the car to a dark road with little traffic to get a better look and to take the attached pictures. The outside temperature was 35 degrees with a light drizzle. Here is what I did. 1.I covered the left headlight with the thickness of two towels so only the right headlight shined on the road. I immediately saw the triangular area where there was an absence of light. I walked toward the safety defect to get a good picture. The two dark lines on the left of the picture are the shadows cast by my legs. The leg shadows did not create or impact the safety defect in any way because the safety defect was there when I stood to the side of the car and behind the headlights. 2.I repeated the experiment with the right headlight covered so only the left headlight shined on the road. The result was the same – a dark triangular area where there should be light. 3.When both headlights shine, the two defects blend with one another and project a distracting and unsafe image to the driver. Here are the conclusions that I have drawn from this experiment. 1.There must be a defective component that is used in both the left and right headlights – perhaps a reflector or lens. Perhaps that component is also used in more models than just the Palisade. 2.Since both original headlights and the new replacement left headlight contained this safety defect, the manufacturing dates of the three items might have been weeks or months apart. This makes it unlikely that only my car received three random defects and more likely that this is a widespread problem. 3.The current stock of headlights could be defective and replacing the ones on my Palisade from that stock may not fix the problem." | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

When I went to brake, the brakes vibrated, the steering wheel shook and I wasn’t stopping. I pushed down harder and eventually stopped just before entering the intersection. The roads were dry and smooth, no gravel, but it felt like I was sliding on gravel or ice. | Apr 2025 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | Sunroof randomly shattered in closed position on highway. I have pictures that show the glass bowing outward toward the sky instead of bowing toward inside the car indicating a object did not hit my sunroof. I also have pictures and videos of the sunroof and moment leading to glass shattering also proving it was not caused by an object. It is a serious issue because my sunroof was closed and my family was in the car. It couldve caused serious injury to the eyes if the inside slide cover wasnt closed as well. Something has failed causing this and I dont wish serious injury on anyone. I will be seeing my dealer tomorrow 4/22/25 huntington hyundai in new york to further evaluate it. The left side has a large triangular black-out region which blocks my view of the next lane. I took the vehicle to Phil Long Hyundai in Colorado Springs Colorado for warranty repair. They refused to drive the car at night because that was outside of their normal business hours. They adjusted the headlights “as high as they could go” according to their invoice. | Apr 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | i have had multiple incidences over the past year where in stopped traffic, the car will suddenly slam on brakes as all cars start to pull off in traffic. I have almost been rear-ended by the car behind me with these sudden stops. Often when this happens I try again to pull forward and it will slam on breaks again and I have to quickly put it in park and then drive again to get it to let me begin to drive forward. There is nothing blocking my path forward. This usually in multi-lane traffic stops, so it appears that it is confused by the movement of cars in front of me and beside me. I did take it to the dealership and they could not replicate the issue since it is intermittent. They did not see any error codes that were logged either so couldn't help me with the issue. I also receive for long periods of time when driving more than one hour a message on the instrument panel that says "Forward Safety system limited. Radar blocked."
