| Oct 2025 | STEERING | Crackling/clicking noises coming from steering rack after the vehicle has warmed up and driven for 10-20 mins. Noises are more noticeable when driving at slow speeds and when pulling in/out of parking spaces. The electric steering rack in my vehicle has been replaced twice under warranty and these noises have reappeared approximately 1-2 months after each repair/replacement event which suggests a design/manufacturing defect with this part. There is no known technical service bulletin of this issue. The short and long-term effects of this defect are not publicly known and may pose a safety hazard. From research and discussions in online forums, this appears to be common problem with 4th generation honda pilots which started in model year 2023. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | STEERING | Our 2024 Honda Pilot started with a grinding noise in the steering. Our Pilot only has 011,208 miles on it. We took to the dealer and they said the steering rack needs replacing but its ok to continuing driving. The dealer will order the part. Its beend 3 weeks still no part. What happens on all these Pilots if the steering rack freezes up? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | STEERING | The contact owns a 2024 Honda Pilot. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V735000 (STEERING). The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the recall repair was performed; however, the contact stated that afterwards, while driving at various speeds and making a right or left turn, the steering wheel was making an abnormal clicking sound and was jerking abnormally. The Lane Keep Assist warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the rack and pinion were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 35,000 |
| Sep 2025 | STRUCTURE | Passenger got out of front passenger side door and the door bounced back and gashed his right calf, resulting in significant bleeding and requiring 9 stitches. The door can be inspected if needed, but this is a design issue, not an issue specific to my vehicle. I have looked at the other front door and another Honda of this model type and it has the same issue, a metal edge. This issue appears numerous times on Piloteers.org (Front Doors, Lower Edges). I contacted Honda and reported the incident with a request for a quick repair and medical costs for the injured passenger. I filed the report 10 days ago and followed up with Honda several times with a request to have the case expediated, but have yet to hear back from Honda. I am worried that another passenger or the driver could be similarly injured. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 Medical attention | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | STEERING | 2024 Honda Pilot EX-L has a knocking sound when turning steering wheel in either direction when stopped or at slow speed as in parking. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | TIRES | There are two occurances 1-8/2/2025 While traveling down highway 69 over I40, at 75 MPH, the right rear tire blew. It was not a slow release, but rather a boom and then all kinds of noise. The car was hard to control but there was no accident. Had it been a front tire....The sidewall blew out. If I had run over something, my wife or I should have seen it and they tear would be in the other direction. I replaced two tires at that point. 2-8/25/2025 While in Florida, 1000 miles from home, I noticed I had a low left rear (driver) tire. I got some air to last overnight and parked the car. The next morning I drove to a tire shop. They pull the wheel off and let the air out of the tire. When they used the machine to break the bead lose, the whole flat square metal piece pushed through the sidewall of the tire. I have pictures of both tires. The tire are actually a Hankook DynaPro HP2 but was not listed. They are a 255/60R18 108H. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | While driving the car flashes a BRAKE warning on the dash and then automatically begins emergency style braking attempting to bring the car to a STOP, but this happens while driving at highway speeds which is dangerous for rear approaching traffic. This has happened before and the dealership could not reproduce the action. This is the third time it has happened. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | LANE DEPARTURE | The contact owns a 2024 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at 55 MPH, the vehicle independently moved into the opposite lane of traffic. The contact stated that the Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS) failed to function as intended. The contact was able to avoid a head-on crash. The contact used force to return the vehicle back into the intended lane. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 16,000 |
| Aug 2025 | SEAT BELTS | The middle-right passenger seatbelt does not properly register as engaged on the dashboard indicator. When a passenger buckles in, the system fails to show that the seatbelt is latched. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I was driving down a residential road at about 40 mph. There was no car or other obstacle in front of me, but my car suddenly slammed on the brakes. It brought the car to an abrupt stop for no reason. If a car had been behind me, they would have slammed into me. It was so abrupt, I felt like I had whiplash. It was terrifying. I had taken the car into the dealership to due to the brake pin recall just 3 days ago. They inspected and said the pin was fine. When I called them to report this experience, they said it was unrelated to the recall. I am bringing my car into them tomorrow to inspect what happened with the automatic braking system. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | SUSPENSION,WHEELS | The contact owns a 2024 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the passenger's side front wheel. The contact stated that the sound became louder while driving over uneven pavement. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 35,000 |
| Jul 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The auto idle stop caused my Pilot to not restart as I was taking my foot off the brake turning left on a busy road. I had to be towed as my car would not start. The Honda repair center said there is an Engineering Request ([XXX]) trying to gather information about the issue, but no fix other than having to turn off the feature every time I restart the car. I am now extremely concerned about my safety and others because if I forget to turn off this feature, my car could unexpectedly now stop working and I could immediately be put in an unsafe situation. Honda said they can’t automatically turn off the feature. They have shifted this responsibility to the driver of the car. This is not right and they don’t seem to care when I call 1-800-880-1072. All they said is it your responsibility to turn off the feature each time you get in the car rather than give me options. I asked repeatedly if I were to forget and my car won’t restart after an auto idle stop, what can I do. Could not answer other than I need to be mindful before putting the car in drive. This is so wrong, I could come up with several scenarios now my car could cause me danger and others if it stalled suddenly in a heavy traffic area. What are my option? | Jul 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,AIR BAGS | The contact owns a 2024 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH in a drive-through and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal was stiff and the vehicle failed to respond on two occasions, and rear-ended the same vehicle twice. The contact stated that both vehicles sustained scratches. The air bags did not deploy. There was no injury sustained. No police report was filed. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the recall inspection for NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V391000(Service Brakes, Hydraulic) was performed, and the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle had passed the inspection. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and sent an engineer, who inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that no failure was found. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | 25,000 |
| Jul 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | While driving our 2024 Honda Pilot Touring, I came to a full stop at a red light. When the light turned green and I attempted to accelerate, the vehicle completely shut off without warning. There was no sputtering, no warning lights, and no error messages. The engine shut off instantly, and all systems—including both screens, air conditioning, horn, and hazard lights—were completely unresponsive. The vehicle was entirely disabled. It remained unresponsive for 5–10 minutes before showing any sign of power. It took four attempts to restart the vehicle. This happened in an active intersection, creating a serious safety risk. I could not move or signal to other drivers, and the car gave me no way to handle the emergency safely. The vehicle was taken to a Honda dealership for inspection. They ran diagnostic tests but were unable to reproduce or identify the issue and called it a “fluke.” No repairs were made, and the root cause was not identified. I was told to take the vehicle home and monitor it. This issue has not recurred yet, but I am concerned it could happen again at any time. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The problem has not been confirmed by the manufacturer or a third-party inspector. No warning lights or other symptoms appeared before the failure | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Over the period of a week there where 6 instances when my vehicle completely lost system power when at a complete stop. Took it to the dealership was told it was a low battery, they charged it, could not recreate the incidents and then released the vehicle to me. One the way to work at the second stop light I once again lost all power. Took 2 minutes stuck at a stop light for the vehicle to be able to power on and start again. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2025 | SEAT BELTS | When the safety belt is buckled in the middle row seat with people sitting there, the system shows the safety belt isn't buckled and warning alert sounds some times. It is very annoying. The dealership hasn't part to replace it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The automatic emergency braking system in my vehicle has repeatedly activated without any visible reason. The brakes engage suddenly even when there are no cars, curves, reflective surfaces, or obstacles nearby. This has occurred on straight, empty roads and in clear conditions. We have previously taken the car to the dealership for issues related to sensors and wiring, and were even told at one point to turn off certain safety features. Most recently, we went through the dealership and escalated the issue to Honda corporate, but they closed our case and claimed there is nothing wrong with the car. I am very concerned that this unresolved issue could lead to the brakes locking up in a dangerous situation, potentially causing an accident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2025 | STEERING | When driving at a low speed like in a parking lot, the steering wheel makes cracking noises. The noise becomes more obvious in warm temperatures and after the vehicle has been running for a while. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | STEERING | There's a grinding and clicking noise when turning the wheel left and right in a parked position and when slowing down. The dealership replaced the steering rack once already 1 year ago. Now the grinding and clicking noise is back and alot worse. The dealership is going to replace the steering rack for a second time. Spoke to Honda mechanics and told them that there must be another underlining issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | With the Idle Stop feature on (meaning the car will shut the motor off when coming to a stop, but keep electrical equipment working), my Honda Pilot, at random times, will completely lose all power when I come to a complete stop. This results in the car being unable to be operated and can lead to numerous instances of injury or even death. In order to have the car work properly again as it should, I have to recrank the car completely. Sometimes the motor turns over without issue, and other times it sounds like it struggles to supply power to crank the car. This was a known issue with Honda, with a recall in place to fix it. I completed this recall in April 2025. As of [XXX] (The same day of the MOST RECENT incident), my Honda Pilot is at Hubert Vester Honda in Wilson, NC for them to troubleshoot the issue further. Per their Maintenance department, Honda has opened up an inquiry further into this issue. My Honda Pilot is a 2024 with less than 23,000 miles on it. | May 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Vehicle lags when trying to accelerate on to freeway or moving through intersection. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I believe that there is a safety issue with the design of the adaptive cruise control on the 2024 Honda Pilot. The vehicle applies the brakes at about 1 mph over the selected speed. It is especially aggressive when topping a hill. The gas lets up, but due to the vehicle inertia, the car slightly accelerates, then braking. I believe that this action is unsafe for several reasons. It slows the vehicle several mph below the set speed causing cars behind me to swerve or come close to me. No human driver would apply the brakes in that situation. It also appears to irritate those same drivers. I’m glad that none of them has a weapon so far. It also applies the brakes going downhill on the interstate highway. This occurs at any speed below 55 mph. This also makes it look like the driver is continually tapping the brakes, when no one normally would. I suspect that there may be extra brake wear. My family asks what is going on with the car because of the aggressive braking. I previously owned a 2018 Honda Pilot with adaptive cruise control. It used transmission downshifting to slow the vehicle. I admit that there were some over speeds, but nothing serious. The 2024 Owner’s Manual states that downshifting is also used, but I’ve only seen the brakes used for over speed control. There are no user selectable adjustments to the system. I am getting used to this (feature, not a bug) by clicking off the cruise control whenever the conditions are close for a brake activation. This causes me to pay more attention to monitoring for those conditions, rather than the actual driving and traffic scan. I suggest that the system use downshifting followed by brakes after a 3 or 4 mph excursion from the set speed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | On three occasions, my car has not started as expected. Twice I was at busy intersections at a stop, and when I started to go, the car shut off and would not allow me to restart the engine. The third time I had not been driving and was in a parking lot, trying to start the car to leave and it also would not start. When this happens, the brake locks, the steering locks, but the lights are still on around the center console. The start stop button goes black and refuses to work on all three occasions. I have had to wait and try again and try again and try again before the car will restart and allow me to drive again. Then all of the panic alerts flash on the dash and cycle over and over and over telling me to see the dealer also saying there is a brake system problem. I do have a video of these, but my video is too large to attach here. This is very dangerous being stuck in an intersection with cars all around not being able to move. I took the car into the dealer today and they wanted to tell me that my battery was having interference or corrosion. The car is only one year old. They also said that the idle start stop was draining amperage from the battery perhaps keeping it from restarting if I were making short trips or in heavy traffic. Either way, this is a huge problem and safety concern on my part. I am paying for a brand new car that I feel is unsafe. They did not share with me that there is an active investigation about this very issue. I feel they were not very transparent with me. Down below, I will attach an image of what the dealer said about the issue when I visited them today. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Vehicle has many fault codes that will not clear. Took to dealership and the state they believe its a wheel speed sensor and vehicle is safe to drive. Flashing warnings include AWD system problem, electric parking brake problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, electric power steering problem, antilock brake system problem, vehicle stability assist problem, hill start assist problem, trailer stability assist problem, hill descent control system problem, adaptive cruise control problem, lane keep assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, low speed braking problem, auto high beam problem, parking sensor problem, antilock brake system problem, as well as drive mode change unavailable, rear hatch will not open, drivers seat will not automatically move into position once vehicle is started, vehicle will not shut off without having to hit the off button numerous times, and vehicle is not auto shutting off after the 10-15 min timeframe. Dealer states they have ordered the part and is currently on back order. Was told Honda does not provide loaner vehicles for warranty work. Seems strange that a wheel sensor could cause so many errors and shut off all safety features, brakes and drivetrain of the vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | POWER TRAIN | This 10 speed transmission is dangerous. It hesitates and jerks constantly. Both up and down shifts will hesitate or drop into gears. While at speeds under 50mph the car will lurch and rock back and forth with some shifts. I'm current on all recalls. Only 23,000 miles. I've taken it in to Honda and did a ride along with the tech and he felt it too, but until there is a check engine light, theres nothing they can do to help me. This is a wide spread issue among owners when you search forums. Please look into this issue and push Honda to release a software update. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
