Apr 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER My car is experiencing the starting issue that is listed as auto start/stop feature. However, since I almost always have the AC on or start/stop disabled because the car will not start when hot after a few stops and was scared it would do it in traffic. So far I can get it started again but need to completely turn car off and try again, sometimes more than once. Had been going on for a year and the dealer has replaced battery then the next services said nothing wrong. Now the car is out of warranty and the starting issues getting worse and have finally found online that others are experiencing similar issues. I have forgotten to turn off start/stop a couple times and been stranded in traffic as well when car auto stopped at red light and did not restart causing me to be stuck until i could get it restarted.

Mar 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The contact owns a 2024 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, and while stopped at a red traffic light, the Automatic START/STOP system failed, causing the vehicle to unexpectedly shut off. The vehicle was restarted and drove normally. On another occasion, while stopped in a drive-thru, the vehicle shut off unexpectedly. The emissions system, adaptive cruise control, and tire monitoring system warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with battery failure. The battery was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,000.

Mar 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The idle stop on the van will stall the vehicle. This has happened 3 separate times where the vehicle stops, then stalls when the engine tries to turn back on. This can be very dangerous, especially when trying to turn from an intersection and the vehicle stalls.

Mar 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING, AND THE AUTO STOP SHUTS THE ENGINE DOWN, THEN IT WILL NOT RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON A VERY BUSY STATE ROUTE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, WHILE I HAVE MY YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING AND A MOJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR US.
Incident: Mar 2026 , OH
Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Mar 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM "The vehicle is experiencing an intermittent, loud popping/crackling noise coming from the speakers and infotainment system. This is a known symptom of a failure in the MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) bus network, specifically related to defective FAKRA connectors and coaxial cabling. This issue was previously the subject of NHTSA Recall #23V-431 for 2018–2023 models, but the defect persists in this 2024 model." Safety Risk: "When the MOST bus network loses connection for more than 20 seconds, the infotainment screen freezes or goes black, causing a total failure of the rearview (backup) camera image. This failure occurs unpredictably while the vehicle is in reverse, significantly increasing the risk of a back-over accident or collision. Additionally, the loud, sudden popping noises are a severe driver distraction." Dealer/Manufacturer Response: "The Honda dealership confirmed the issue is consistent with the known MOST bus failure (TSB 23-047). However, because the vehicle has 49,000 miles, both the dealership and Honda Corporate (Case # [Insert your number if you have one]) have denied a goodwill repair, despite this being a documented safety defect that has been the subject of prior federal recalls

Mar 2026 ENGINE The contact owns a 2024 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while stopped and using the Auto START/STOP feature, the vehicle failed to restart as designed. While attempting to restart the vehicle, the battery warning light flashed on the instrument panel. The vehicle restarted after several minutes. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.

Mar 2026 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The vehicle was stopped at a red light. This vehicle is equipped with an auto-start/stop system to save fuel. Once the red light turned green the engine refused to restart. This was the second instance. The vehicle took over 30 seconds before it would restart. None of the push-to-start buttons worked, the car would not recognize that the brake was pressed, and it had also shifted itself into park. Very dangerous while traffic was moving all around us.

Feb 2026 STRUCTURE for 2 years we have had intermittent issues with sliding doors not opening. The doors will not respond to the handles in or out, or remote control or door button. at 2 years old the doors jammed so bad my child was trapped in the middle. Finally we tried pulling on the door that was open about 6" and the rear window exploded. seems to be some sort of electrical override. really surprised the door can fail slightly open and not allow passengers to escape.

Jan 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I believe something is wrong with the electrical system tied into the infotainment system of the car, which displays the radio, heating, cooling, shows the rear camera controllers, as well as some fo the lighting in the sport L is not fully lit, for example where the shift gears is there a light that goes across the front, mines if red, only 1 side is actively turninig on, but the other side is off, at time the display become unresponsive, meaning no matter what I select nothing is displayed I only get the main screen that shows the FM/AM, CAR PLAY, Andriod Auto, Setting etc, when this happens and when the screen flickers the radio does not turn on, no sound is heard, I can turn on/off the ac, but can control where the air flows, or changing some basic settings, at times the rear camera will not work as well. I have videos of this for my records, and I did report this directly to Honda, but they indicated there is no recall for the infotainment system, I previously had a 2021 Odysessy and there was a recall for soemthing very similar, not sure why they would continue to use the same system in the newer vechiles, clearly something is wrong here, so I am documenting this for my records, but I believe Honda needs to step in and correct this issue before other electrical problems occur and someone gets injured

Jan 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Automatic Idle Stop function fails. The car idles down while at a stop and then the entire car will shut off and fail to restart. This occurs frequently at stoplights, stop signs, in traffic or any time the vehicle idles down. The car fails to restart right away resulting in multiple attempts to start the engine and poses a danger to occupants in traffic.

Jan 2026 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I am writing to formally report and complain about a serious safety issue I am experiencing with my Honda Odyssey related to the Auto Idle Stop feature. While the vehicle is stopped and Auto Idle Stop is engaged, the engine unexpectedly shuts down and, in some cases, does not restart properly when I attempt to accelerate. This has occurred after normal driving and also immediately after refueling. When the issue happens, the vehicle loses power completely for several seconds, creating a dangerous situation—especially in traffic, at intersections, or while making turns. This issue is not only inconvenient but also a significant safety concern. A delayed or failed engine restart can easily lead to accidents, particularly when quick acceleration is required. I understand that Auto Idle Stop is designed to improve fuel efficiency, but it should never compromise vehicle safety or reliability. I am aware that other Honda Odyssey owners have reported similar problems, which suggests this may be a known or widespread issue. I would like Honda to: Acknowledge this problem as a potential safety defect Investigate whether this issue is related to the Auto Idle Stop system, fuel system, battery, starter, or engine control software Advise whether there is an official fix, software update, recall, or service bulletin addressing this issue Provide guidance on how Honda plans to resolve this problem permanently Please let me know the next steps to have my vehicle properly inspected and repaired. I expect Honda to take this matter seriously, as it directly affects driver and passenger safety. I look forward to your prompt response

Dec 2025 SERVICE BRAKES I have had multiple issues with the radio (16000 miles). After many personal videos dealership was able to fix one of this issues with a new part (22000 miles). I was informed the other issues I was having with the radio was due to my battery not staying fully charged. I was also having issues with the van not starting right away, which made me feel I could get stranded. It took many attempts to get the van to start. The van also wouldn't let me reverse one time, with a message telling me to place van in park. Another issue is the van is very slow to restart from auto idle shut off. The transmission is slow to change gears in lower gears and the van jerks a little bit. Next my rotors were warped. I was informed by the dealership that there was nothing wrong with my transmission and the auto idle down was working properly. NO one could explain the rotors being warped. They reshaped my rotors and replaced the battery and told me they hoped that fixed the problem. Well indeed it did not fix the problem. As of 12/27/25 the van completely shut off at a stop sign and again on 12/28/25. The issue is only getting worse (24,000 miles) and now I am scared to death that the van will stop while i am driving. The dealership has been contacted and I am waiting on a call back for a loaner car. I was in traffic and was extremely worried about my safety, as well, the safety of others around me and with me. ( Side note I returned the van to another dealership soon after the first dealership performed work on the van, when I heard a metal on metal sound and what sounded like a bolt rolling around in my back brakes. They did not find anything wrong but were also puzzled by the rotors already being warped. I was afraid to make the trip to the orig dealership). I have recently gotten a video of the brakes scraping again. This van is causing a lot of safety issues for my family.

Dec 2025 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE The start stop system has failed to restart at a busy traffic light more than half a dozen different times after a 1 hour drive. Short drives do not bring this issue out. This got me stuck at a light, drivers annoyed honking and confused as I try to get my vehicle to start again. Turning the van completely off and back on again seems to get the van to restart again. I tried bring the issue up to the dealer when I brought it in for its first service, but the employee was extremely rude/belligerent and stated they would only do an oil change when I asked for help with this safety issue among other things. Will take to another dealer next service interval and try again. No issues known or warning lights on the vehicle prior. The van when it did this, error'd stating failure to restart or something along those lines. It happened so fast I don't 100% recall. After the issue the van would have no issues or lights on at all to even think anything had went wrong in the first place. This is a 2024, purchased new, vehicle.

Nov 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 2015 Honda Odyssey with approx 34000 miles. During auto stop/start events the van intermittently would not restart. This issue was worse during warm weather and occured throughout the summer of 2025. It was also noticed that the van sometimes would experience hard starts when restarting soon after a drive. It appeared to be a heat soak issue with the starter and the starter could not turn over the engine. There were no service lights present during this issue. After it failed to start, you would need to turn the ignition off then back on to attempt to restart. Service was performed at Performance Honda in Fairfield Ohio on 11/21/2025, and although the van passed all tests in regards to battery and starter. Initially the van was not going to be repaired/covered, but the van happened failed to start while in the service bay. The starter assembly was replaced under warranty on 11/25/2025. This is a safety issue when the van doesn't restart while at a stoplight or even worse when attempting to pull out into traffic.

Nov 2025 ENGINE The Auto Idle Stop (AIS) feature on our 2024 Honda Odyssey EX-L has recently failed to restart engine leaving driver and passengers stranded in heavy traffic at intersection traffic lights. This has occurred twice, once while traveling alone, once while traveling with five year old child. Safety put at risk because driver had to exit car in middle of road during rush hour traffic while cars attempted to go around. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by dealer. Had battery tested at auto parts store and results indicate battery in good condition. Vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives. There were not any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

Nov 2025 LANE DEPARTURE When using the sensor-controlled, automatic wipers the lane keeping assist is silently disabled when the wiper speed switches to high. There is no warning or explicit notification of this other than the dashed lane markings indicator becoming "empty". There should be some on console warning that is more substantial so the driver knows they cannot rely on lane assist steering during this time.

Nov 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM While operating the vehicle, I have experienced repeated problems with the idle stop/start system. Specifically: 1-The engine automatically shuts off at stop signs and stop lights as designed, but at times the vehicle fails to restart immediately when the brake is released or the acceleration is pressed. 2-Multiple occasion while stopped in traffic the vehicle unexpectantly shifted into "Park." 3-For the last 3 weeks the vehicle sometimes hesitates to start on first attempt.

Oct 2025 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING The contact owns a 2024 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while at a stoplight, the auto idle stop feature malfunctioned, and the vehicle failed to immediately restart after releasing the brake pedal. On several occasions, the vehicle had to be shut off before restarting. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact was informed of the NHTSA Action Number: EA25004 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); and related the failure to the campaign. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 8,500.

Sep 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The idle start/stop feature is not starting back up after stopping. This occurs after driving for for some time. I have had this happen to me in traffic where I am not able to quickly start my car back up. Sometimes it requires me to turn my car completely off on the highway. This also happens at traffic lights and I am not able to go after the light turns green. I took my car in to have it looked at and they said they saw the problem in the logs and it was that my battery was low. They replaced my battery however I am still having this problem with the brand new battery. An error shows on the dash but I can't remember it word for word.

Sep 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Reference: EA25004 Car fails to restart while warm, and idle stopped. This has happened twice in the last three months. The car will idle stop at an intersection - temperature outside is around 90-93. Air conditioner and other electronics are on in the car, but not on full power. The car will fail to come back on when the foot is taken off the brake. The battery light turns on. Must re-start the car using the push button after several tries. This invariably happens at a very busy intersection. Cars behind you see you take the foot off the brake but the car doesn't move - this is a very dangerous situation. 17,000 miles on odometer Took the car to a dealer a few days later. The dealer says everything tests fine. I ask for a new battery, and they claim they replace it after forcing a test failure. Issue happens again a few weeks later. Also noted: the car has a hard time re-starting when it's warm. It'll turn once, cause the fuses to click, pause, and then turn over and start. So it may not just be the idle-stopper that's the problem. Took to another Honda dealer. They refused to do anything - claimed all tests were fine. They could not replicate the problem. They noted the battery was somewhat discharged. They charged the battery, and said everything still tests fine. No further repair made. On the way home (25 minute drive - mostly highway), near the house, coming back from idle stop - the car laboriously turned back (slow/delayed turnover) on. Still not right, Not a full failure, but not how it should be behaving either. I try to defeat the engine idle stop - but this is an added human factor and I often forget to do so.
