Driving 45mph on 8/9/2024 -all warning lights began going on and off then Jeep just stopped leaving the D flashing and the message to press brake and push to start. Took a few moments to get it into Park. Restarted and took to dealer. They charged all batteries and returned 4 days later. 2 days later, Next incident, 25 mph shut down, almost hit from behind and had to deal with irate driver. Resumed after getting into park and switched to gas mode to drive to dealership. After power loss, car lunged forward abruptly without noticeable cause. I worried I had been hit from behind and quickly checked the rearview mirror, but nothing had impacted the back of my Jeep. “D” symbol for “drive” on the shifter was flashing. Not sure what was happening on the instrument panel. I hurried and shut off the ignition and then restarted it and the vehicle started up again without issue. Jeep is currently at the dealer for inspection. There were no prior indications or warning lights on in the vehicle when this occurred. It could have been much more dangerous should I have been moving at a faster speed on the highway. The first time this happened, i was driving on the freeway and my car had started flashing lights telling me my electrical charging system was faulty. When this flashed, my "D" (for drive) on my dashboard started blinking and the car lost power. I was in the fast lane with no shoulder and had to pull 5 lanes over, nearly hitting an unquantifiable amount of cars. When the car reached roughly 15-10 miles per hour as I was merging, it put itself into park and would not let me shift back into gear. At this point I was still in the number 2 lane and had cars swerve around me. I tried turning on the car multiple times and finally after the fifth or sixth time, it turned on and drove to the shoulder. The dealership was unable to replicate the issue but had heard of the problem before. They said that they would try to diagnose the issue but they could not. The other times that it had happened, I had a very similar experience. Some situations safer than others. When i took it in again, they were unable to fix it. | Jul 2024 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | When driving the jeep and the engine light comes on (this light comes on and off repeatedly but is mostly on). When the light is on you will have major issues when trying to accelerate regardless of the speed. if you push the gas to full acceleration the speed will drop down from 3-5 mph or completely drop to zero. If you leave your foot on the gas it will take 15-30 seconds for the engine to engage and provide power. It feels like its trying to look to the battery EV motor for power even though the battery is dead. in same cases the engine does not restart at all and i have had to pull over to the hard shoulder to pull off of live traffic. I have several videos showing the issue. i have been to the deal 4 times to have this reviewed and they keep telling me they can't find an issue regardless of the videos i have provided. at this time Jeep has taken my Vehicle and gave me a long term rental as they look into this issue more. | Jul 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | My husband was going 65mph on the highway in e-save mode with ~1% battery and 3/4 tank of gas. The “service charge system” error popped up with other red errors on the sides and the uconnect also posted an error. He described the incident as it felt like the transmission was failing. He coasted off the highway, thankfully safely, and put it in park. Then it died. He powered it back on and tried to put it back in e-save and it said e-save not available. He started driving again as he was making the journey to pick up our son from camp. An hour later, while back on the 3 lane highway, he experienced the exact same thing, this time having to pull off to the side of the interstate. At this point, he was not comfortable continuing the drive in this unreliable and unsafe car, and had it towed. Furthermore, we didn’t feel safe putting our kids in the back of a car that stops on you at high speeds. Fast forward to the next day, the dealer called and they told me nothing was wrong with the vehicle. I immediately called Jeep cares. 3 business days later, Jeep Cares called back and said they are not willing to buy back our vehicle but will have it towed 190 miles to a dealer that is closer to our house. This shows me that they are 100% aware of this issue but don’t want to lose their shirt on this car. I refuse to drive it now, especially with my kids. | Jun 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | On three separate occasions, the vehicle I own has suffered from a complete loss of power during operation. The initial incident (09/02/2023) occurred shortly after merging onto the westbound lane of Highway 71. Without warning, the vehicle ceased to function, coming to an immediate and forceful stop that nearly resulted in a collision with other vehicles traveling at approximately 60 MPH. The vehicle was rendered immobile, with the wheels locked as if in gear, necessitating its removal via a flatbed tow truck. The dealership was unable to restore the vehicle’s functionality and ultimately replaced the Electronic Control Module (ECM). The second incident (03/08/24) involved a similar sudden loss of power while traveling on Highway 1. This failure resulted in a total loss of power, including both power-assisted brakes and steering, eliminating my ability to signal to other drivers as the vehicle drifted. I was forced to maneuver across three lanes of traffic to reach the safety of the roadside. After several attempts, the vehicle eventually restarted. The most recent occurrence (05/13/2024) mirrored the previous incidents, with the vehicle losing all power and leaving me stranded on the side of Highway 71. Given these repeated and unpredictable malfunctions, which pose a severe risk to safety and severely hinder the normal operation of the vehicle, I am no longer willing to allow my son to drive this vehicle. Seems difficult to find anyone qualified to do so. I am 100% sure the jeep malfunctioned and accelerated forward. I have read of similar incidents on your site. | Jun 2024 | SUSPENSION,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,WHEELS | When operating the vehicle about ~50mph, and if you drive over a pothole, or bump in the road, the frontend of the vehicle wobble/vibrate uncontrollably. The only solution (I have found) is to lower the speed (which is obviously a problem on the freeway). I purchased the vehicle new from the dealer, have not made any modifications, and they (the dealer) is telling me the tires are the source of the "death wobble" problem. I have spoken to other Jeep owners that have had the same issue and it had nothing to do with the tires.
