Sep 2025 STEERING Dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a serious safety issue involving my 2023 Jeep Wrangler. Recently, I experienced what is widely known as the “death wobble,” a violent and uncontrollable shaking of the steering wheel and front end while driving. This incident nearly caused me to lose control of the vehicle and crash, creating an extremely dangerous situation for myself and others on the road. The “death wobble” is caused by defective or worn suspension and steering components, including track bar bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, and other parts. The experience was terrifying, and I had to carefully slow down and pull over to regain control of the vehicle. I am aware that a nationwide class-action lawsuit settlement was approved in June 2023 for Jeep Wrangler models (2018–2020) and Jeep Gladiator models (2020) for this exact issue. The settlement provided extended warranties, potential coverage for suspension components, and reimbursements for repairs. While my vehicle is a 2023 model, I am concerned that this ongoing safety defect persists in newer models as well, which suggests that Jeep has not adequately addressed the problem. My vehicle is currently at a dealership, and I have been informed that I am responsible for covering the cost of repairs despite this being a known and dangerous defect. I strongly believe this is an unfair burden on consumers and poses a continuing public safety risk. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this matter, evaluate whether 2023 Jeep Wrangler models should be included in recalls or settlements, and take steps to hold Jeep accountable. I also request guidance on what recourse I may have as a consumer who has experienced this safety issue firsthand. Thank you for your time and commitment to road safety. I am happy to provide additional information, documentation, or repair records as needed.

Aug 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER I bought this Jeep brand new on 7/5/2025 at a dealership with 342 miles on it. The night of purchase, I noticed the fog lights did not work. The dealership had to replace all the wires to the fog lights. On the morning of 8/29/2025, while driving my vehicle between the speeds of 25 - 55 mph to work, the vehicle would shimmy for unknown reasons. Later that afternoon, while driving home from work on the interstate at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle began a severe shake (AKA death wobble). I was able to slow down and safely exit the interstate, but the vehicle did not stop the “death wobble” until it was at a near stop. I immediately called the dealership, and they are to inspect it first thing in the morning on 8/29/2025. This vehicle has not had any modifications or previous owners.

Aug 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The vehicle has been under recall since September 2024. They have been unable to repair it. I requested a refund or replacement since it has been nearly a year now without repair. The company offered me $9,000 and $9,000 to the lawyer I had contact them. This is not acceptable since they cannot repair the vehicle they need to refund my money or give me a new car.

Aug 2025 STEERING,SUSPENSION The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH over a bump in the roadway, the front-end of the vehicle started shaking violently. The contact stated that after slowing down to 20 MPH, the shaking ceased. The failure had occurred on three separate occasions. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact related the failure to the death wobble. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer for assistance. The contact called the local dealer and scheduled an appointment. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to a design flaw. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000. The VIN was not available.

Jul 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NHTSA Complaint Summary: 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Recall 24V-720 Overview: A complaint was filed with the NHTSA against FCA US LLC and Opelika Ford Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for failing to remedy a safety defect in a 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe under NHTSA Recall 24V-720, as required by the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. The vehicle has been inoperable for 83 days as of July 17, 2025, causing financial hardship and safety concerns. Issue Description: Recall Details: Recall 24V-720 addresses a high-voltage battery pack defect prone to separator damage, risking vehicle fires. FCA is obligated to reprogram the battery control module or replace the battery free of charge. Vehicle Status: Dropped off at the dealership on April 25, 2025, the vehicle remains unrepaired. The repair order is “pre-assigned,” with no technician assigned or parts ordered. Failed Repair Attempt: On May 9, 2025, the dealership claimed repairs were complete, but charging errors emerged immediately, confirming the defect persists. The vehicle is unsafe and unusable, with restrictions against charging or parking near structures. Failures by FCA and Dealership: Dealership Inaction: Limited testing and poor coordination with FCA’s STAR system have stalled repairs. FCA Oversight: Jeep Case Management demanded redundant documentation, despite the recall’s clear mandate. Communication has been sparse despite frequent follow-ups. Unpaid Reimbursements: FCA approved rental reimbursements, five invoices remain unpaid, including one approved on June 18, 2025, promised within 10-15 business days. Requested Resolution: Immediate Repair or Refund: Complete the recall repair or issue a full cash refund of the purchase price, rejecting FCA’s fair market value credit offer. NHTSA Investigation: Investigate FCA and the dealership for non-compliance with the recall mandate.

Jul 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM At approximately 36,600 miles, my 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sahara began experiencing a critical and recurring electrical malfunction. Upon attempting to start the vehicle: •All dashboard electronics power on, but the engine does not crank or start. •The brake pedal remains fully depressed and will not release. •The vehicle cannot be shut off by the ignition; the only way to power it down is by disconnecting the battery and fuse and waiting ~15 minutes. This issue renders the vehicle completely inoperable and has occurred multiple times. It began just 600 miles after the factory warranty expired (36,000 miles), and two dealership repair attempts have failed to resolve the issue. I’ve reviewed public NHTSA complaints and discovered that similar issues are being reported in 2023 Wranglers, including full power loss and no-start conditions. This issue is consistent with symptoms reported in the NHTSA’s July 2024 investigation into 2023–2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe models for electrical system failures. I believe this is part of a systemic electrical defect and poses a serious safety risk due to its sudden onset and inability to shut the vehicle down normally.

Jul 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I've had the Electric Coolant Heater Module (ECH) replaced three times in under three months, and had to pay $853 the last time for a wiring harness connector that the dealership & Jeep said was not covered under the warranty. I couldn't continue to safely drive the vehicle with a Check Engine Light on given the other reported problems with the 4xe Hybrid Battery system so I had no choice but to pay for the part out of pocket, even though the item the connector was attached to was deemed to be covered by the 100,000 miles hybrid system warranty.

May 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE I recently rented this vehicle from Budget. I had the vehicle for 3 weeks before I found out it had a recall on it. I took a look into it and the recall was out there since September of 2024. Not only that it was a major issue. The vehicle could’ve caught fire. This is very alarming to me because I had the vehicle for so long. I rented the vehicle in April of 2025. This vehicle should not have been available to rent. I tried to attach the conversation I had with the locations manager on the day I returned it stating that the vehicle was on the recall list but I reached out to him no one from Budget contacted me. I have supporting documents but I’m not able to attach them. I have my rental contract that states the date and also the email between the manager at the location. May 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER While driving my 2023 Jeep Wrangler on a road traveling at approx 15 to 20 mph the “Auto Park “ feature activated and the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the middle of the road. The D indicator was blinking and in order to proceed I had to place the shift in Park and then back in Drive. The car was flat bedded to the dealer who was unable to fix it. The dealer was unable to assure me this would not happen again. The dealer did disconnect the wiring to the door which gave my wife and I some comfort and peace of mind. One of two things could have caused this to happen;1 a malfunction in the module in the door or 2 a malfunction in the computer. I have a severely degenerated cervical spine; a rear end collision could cause me severe injury. It is absolutely necessary that this function be turned off in my vehicle. I have been patiently awaiting for Jeep Wave and my local dealer to fix this problem. In the meantime, my wife and I have had no window operation nor keyless entry nor mirror operation on the driver’s side. It was only by the Grace of God that no vehicle was following us that day.

Apr 2025 STEERING,SUSPENSION We have been experiencing a bouncing and shaking in the front end of our vehicle while driving at highway speeds. This happens when hitting the slightest bump or transitions from pavement to concrete. Last week while driving on the highway the shaking and bouncing was so violent that I can't believe I didn't lose control. I brought the vehicle to the dealer and for the second time they replaced more suspension items in the front end. After doing some research I found out that this has been a problem with these vehicles for quite some time and that it's known as the "Death Wobble". After what I experienced I can understand why. I called Jeep and spoke to multiple people in different departments and as they acknowledge the problem they don't seem to care how unsafe the issue is. I can't believe there haven't been any deaths related to this and I'm hoping you might investigate these issues further before that happens.

Feb 2025 STEERING At highway speeds,60+ the jeep starts an extreme wobbling and shaking when I hit a bump. Sometimes I can slow down and it stops and other times I have to pull Over and come to a complete stop. I just bought this jeep less than two weeks ago and it’s now in service getting a new steering damper. Everything I’m reading online says this is just a Bandaid. My husband knows about Cars and he said this will only absorb the shaking until it wears out and then it will start again. I was told it was their third jeep today with a death wobble. They sold the jeep to me with this issue and now I have to pay a warranty deductible 10 days after purchase to get it fixed. It only has 33,000 miles on it. It’s hard to control the steering at 70 mph when the entire front end starts violently shaking.

Feb 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM There is a problem with my electrical system. I have brought it in to jeep several times, and they have brushed it off. In July 2024 I was driving and the car shut off in the middle of traffic. I was able to come to a stop in a turning lane, but it was a dangerous, scary situation. When I took it to the dealership, they said they could not replicate it and sent me on my way. In March 2024 I was stranded at night at a dog park when my car wouldn't start. There was a message stating that the electrical system needed to be serviced. I had it towed to the dealership and they said it was just the engine battery and an issue with a sensor that was put in upside down. In October 2024 I received a notice not to charge my battery or park it in or near buildings. There was no fix. Then, they had software update that was supposed to fix internal problems with the batteries. I asked for a new battery without the issues, and they said no. The scariest, and biggest problem I'm having, though, is that intermittently I lose power when trying to accelerate into traffic. This has led to many scary incidents of other drivers nearly hitting me and being very upset. The most recent incident was on Wednesday, February 12. I was driving on highway 12 in the morning on my way to work and a car pulled in front of me. To avoid a collision, I swerved to the left lane and tried to accelerate to get out of the way of the car behind me and my car would not accelerate. I had to take my foot off the gas, then push again to get it to go. It was terrifying and dangerous. The car behind me nearly hit me, and they honked and were very upset. This situation happens probably once or twice a month. I had my car in the shop to address these issues and I had a rental car and Jeep said they would work with the dealer to repair. They never did. Never called me back, and now they are refusing my rental reimbursement. I don't have anymore money to pay for another so I'm stuck

Feb 2025 STEERING,SUSPENSION The vehicle violently shakes after hitting minor bumps on the road. The steering wheel shakes not allowing you to have control of the vehicle. The vehicle can hit another vehicle or roll over due to this defect. This is a serious issue linked to poor quality parts and craftsmanship from the manufacturer. This can cause serious injury or death if not fixed immediately. This also causes the alignment to go out and pre-mature wear and tear on the tires. Mark my words someone will die from this failure.

Feb 2025 STEERING,SUSPENSION At 40 mph and above and without warning, the front end of the vehicle will begin to bounce and shake from side to side causing the steering wheel to also shake, thus making it difficult for the driver to safely steer the vehicle. Feb 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM 2023 vehicle no problems until 95B safety recall was performed. Warning light low air next day. Two wks after recall serv. and less than 4-6 months after reg. Maint. & oil change the check engine light came on upon start. Checked and the black coolant reservoir the caps dip stick was void of fluid I was told. Called dealer to advise. Visited dealership the head mechanic dx that the gas cap seal is bad.the check engine light off and not the low to empty coolant. Complaint is the warning light panel. The electrical wires exposed hanging broken small panel on the passengers side of the rearview mirror. Noticed after pickup from dealership. This was addressed with service depart. These panel, coolant, panel broke handing wires, gas cap seal are all issues after recall services. I believe it is unlikely just electrical issues that occurred when it was recently in for the battery recall requiring overnight parking. It was left overnight as they needed to know if it would catch fire. I was not informed if it was necessary as I’ve read to test drive it on electric before it was returned to me. The advisor was in days off happened to be in and was pleasant but I felt rushed. I was given the paper to sign and just told all is well, period. Broken panel part with electrical wires hanging out of rearview mirror. Gas cap seal that is now faulty setting of warning check engine light but not the LOW coolant? No explanation for damaged panel part and reason for messing with the wires. Concerns are engine, electrical and panel failure. Engine should not have issue with coolant. It never should’ve gotten to that point. The fact that there was low to no coolant as the dip stick didn’t register any. It’s a solid black reservoir not able to visibly check for coolant.I find it’s a safety issue, a mechanical issue. The head mechanic is saying that we would’ve never known about coolant needed had it not been for the only 2 yr old gas cap that leaves engine warning light on.

Jan 2025 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE The 2023 Jeep Wrangler has been inspected by two different dealerships 6-7 times, and I have submitted four cases through Jeep Wave, including a request for a buyback. While driving on the highway or on city streets, the vehicle experiences a speed reduction to 5-10 miles per hour, with a stiff steering wheel and hard brakes. Warning messages appear, including: "Engine Light," "Service Transmission. Continue in D. Do Not Shift or Turn Off Engine Until You Reach a Desired Location. You May Not Be Able to Shift Again Until Serviced," and "Brake is Not On," even when the vehicle is in park. The vehicle has malfunctioned twice on the highway while driving at 65-70 miles per hour and several times during heavy traffic at 5 PM. This raises significant safety concerns, especially on the highway, where a malfunction could pose a danger to others on the road. Although the issue cannot be replicated by the dealership, error codes appear when the vehicle is taken in for inspection. Ultimately, I am told that the issue is related to the "grounding." One dealership had the vehicle for 24 days. I picked it up on a Saturday at 10:30 AM, but by Sunday at 10 AM, the vehicle's speed had again decreased, the brakes were stiff, and the steering wheel was locked. The vehicle is available for inspection, and my buyback request has been denied three times. The vehicle is currently at the dealership once again, and I am genuinely concerned about the safety of my children and family members when I'm driving. My safety, as well as the safety of others on the road, is at risk.
