| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | On 1/21/2024, the car’s accelerator stopped responding and the car slowed to a stop. This happened twice previously on 6/25/2023, and again on 11/16/2023. Each time, the Honda dealer found “loss of communication codes,” and I was told via text on 1/25/2024 that “your Accord is communicating codes that we don’t have a repair for yet.” I filed a claim with American Honda on 1/31/2024 (case #13919840), and was told over the phone that nothing could be done to resolve the issue. Bernardi Honda gave me the vehicle back without any repairs. I still have the vehicle but I don’t drive it out of concern for my family’s safety. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | While driving the vehicle, it showed all the abs braking error and cycled through a few other errors and the car basically shut down. Car acceleration slows to a stop, and pressing the accelerator is useless. Had to cycle the power twice before all cleared and the car was drivable | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES | Driving at low speeds in Somerville MA on [XXX]. 1 yr old car with about $6k miles. It was a hot day. Front display lit up with warning about brakes being degraded and take to dealer. It also showed tire warnings, and traction control warnings. I believe acceleration was greatly reduced. Pulled over. Turned car off and on, and most of the errors cleared, except a brake warning. I drove 5 minutes home. Power cycled again, and the brake warning disappeared. I put a code reader on it, and it showed numerous communications issues. Problem did not repeat. I took to dealer. They confirmed the codes, and communicated with Honda corporate. Honda confirmed they were aware of the problem, but they do not have a solution yet. Google Search showed that it is an isolated problem. If it had happened at highway speeds, it could have resulted in a major accident Attaching code report to show communications errors INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | This has happened on two separate occasions, with our purchased-new 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid, which has about 30,000 miles on it. We've had no other issues with this car prior to these two events described below, which happened within in one week of each other. FIRST EPISODE: I was driving on a 4 lane road separated by a median, moving straight ahead at around 30MPH, when suddenly, without any warning from any of the car systems, the displays went completely dark, I was unable to accelerate at all, and had to coast-over into a shopping center parking spot. Once I rolled into the lot (I still had steering), I placed it into park. I waited a few minutes, pushed down the brake and started the car without incident. We took it to a Honda Dealership, but they stated that because there were no warning messages we saw displayed, they would be unlikely to be able to reproduce this, and given we would have had to leave the car for several days without a loaner, we chalked it up to some kind of fluke-glitch. If this had happened on a freeway at higher speeds, this could have caused a serious life-threatening situation (being completely without power, unable to accelerate in fast moving traffic). SECOND EPISODE: This time, I was making a left hand turn and accelerating from a side street onto a main thoroughfare when the car once again lost all ability to accelerate, all screens went dark, and I coasted to the side of the road. There were no warning lights or messages prior to this happening, and once again all display screens were completely dark. Once I coasted to a stop, I put the car in Park, put my foot on the brake, and the car started right up. Had there been any cars coming in either direction, this loss of all ability to accelerate (and all power) could have placed me and other drivers in a serious life-threatening situation. We have an appointment on 6-6-24 with a local Honda Dealership, and it appears others have had this same problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2024 | TIRES | 235-40-19 Bridgestone stock tires wore out before 25,000 miles causing wheemls to bed easily. Had to repurchase wheel replacements and new tires after 1 year of purchase | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2024 | WHEELS | 3 wheels defected, causing uneven wear and tear on tires that have 25,000 miles | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | When overtaking Semi-trucks on the passenger side, as I approach the truck's cab, my vehicle turns off cruise control and sometimes applies the brakes while the vehicle icon will show an obstetrical is in my lane. On a few occasions, the emergency brake bar flashes and the car decelerates. Once I react (usually by applying the gas) the warnings go away. When I called Honda, they said to go to the dealer. The dealer states the vehicle is within specs and there is nothing they can do. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Apr 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | This happened on [XXX] at roughly [XXX] pm. I bought the new 2023 hybrid accord ex-l in June 2023 and the car only had 12413 miles. I was driving in Slidell, LA along [XXX] road towards [XXX]. I was driving 45 mph with adaptive cruise control. Suddenly there were lots of warning lights on. I don't really remember clearly how many warning lights since I was shocked. But I think that the "check engine", "tire pressure", "road departure", "traction", and "brake" were on. It was like fire work and at the same time, the car was losing power and the power steering was becoming stiff. Luckily there were no cars behind me and I was right by the entrance of a subdivision. I was able to turn into the entrance of the subdivision and the car basically stopped by the stop sign, kind of like dead. I was blocking the road and had to restart to car. But luckily I was able to restart and then there was only one warning messages left, the brake (please see photo). It says " Brake system problem, Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer". It was after 7 pm and I didn't think the repair department was open. So I took a photo and slowly drove to Abita Spring. After parked my car for maybe two hours and I then restarted the car, everything seems ok. No warning lights at all. So I drove back home. Was busy on [XXX] and [XXX] (Wednesday and Thursday), finally went to the dealer on Friday, [XXX]. There was no codes and the dealer cannot do anything even after showing the photo. Was told to pull over to the dealer and they need the code. It's been two weeks and the car seems fine. But if someone drives on highway, ~70 mph, this can be fatal. And HONDA needs to address this! | Apr 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Twice this has happened to me. Yesterday, I was driving on a local road, around 45 to 50 mph. Suddenly, many warning lights came on (see photos) including that power steering was reduced, electric parking brake system issue, and TPMS issue. The car felt heavy to drive, but I still had control. I pulled over and turned off the car. After a few minutes, I turned on the car, and the warnings were gone and it drove normally. The hybrid battery was well-charged, so I don't think this was the problem. The previous time was around 2 months ago. That time I had to turn the car off and on twice before the warnings went away. I had taken the car to the Honda mechanic, but they found nothing wrong. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | STEERING,FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2023 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving approximately approximately 30 MPH, and turning to the left or to the right, the steering wheel would be slow to return to center after making the turn. The contact stated that he would have to manually steer the vehicle back to center. The contact stated that there were no warning lights when the steering was sticking. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. Additionally the contact stated that he was smelling the odor of gasoline in the passenger cabin when he would start the vehicle. The contact stated that the smell was not constant but was also intermittent. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 13,000 |
| Apr 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2023 Honda Acord. The contact stated that while driving on two occasions at 45 MPH, six unknown warning lights plus the brake system warning light illuminated. The vehicle began to lose motive power and stalled. The vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,670. | Crash: No Fire: No | 9,670 |
| Apr 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | My 2023 car has 850 miles on it I was at a stop waiting for a train to pass when all warning dashboard lights came on. The brake would not work and the gas would not work. I turned the car off and restarted it and most lights went off except for the brake warning. I was able to turn around and take car to dealership. They said it was a faulty 12 volt battery and replaced it. I haven't had issues since but also haven't driven much. I have read of other honda owners having the similar issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | SEAT BELTS | This is in reference to the current recall on my vehicle for the front seatbelts. I have called a few dealerships over the last few months trying to get it fixed. At first they said there was no info about what to do, then followed by the "theres no parts" right now so there's nothing that can be done. I was able to finally take it in to get fixed as the service advisor told me that they are able to fix it. A few days passed and they told me "actually we dont have the parts to fix it" and told me that they wouldn't even test if it passed or failed (needing repair or not) becuase if it failed they would not be able to give me the car back for safety concerns. If it is such a safety concern then I believe that I shouldn't be driving the car at all. I just have to "deal with it" and take the risk that my car might or might not be affected and in turn if I get in an accident it could cause me more harm. I feel that at this point, about 6 months after the recall was announced, if it cannot be fixed the car as whole needs to be recalled / bought back and not put customers in a position to keep wondering when this is going to get fixed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | STEERING,WHEELS,SERVICE BRAKES | Power Steering Failure. It is available for inspection upon request. After taking a right turn, the steering got stuck and did not come back as expected. This caused car crashing into the curb on the road, severely damaging front right front rim and tire. The steering alignments after the crash has been impacted - steering has to be tilted to make the car go straight. There are multiple warnings signs that include Brake System Warning, Vehicle Stability Assist System Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem, Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem I have video of all the warnings that I see. The warnings disappeared for sometime and then came back. I am taking the car to a Honda dealership for inspection and repair tomorrow. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Car stalled while coming to a stop and wouldn’t accelerate. Dashboard lit up with multiple errors including battery, ABS, engine, and traction control. Had to restart the car 3 time before being able to accelerate and pull off the road. All lights went off except brake light which stayed on and displayed error message “break system problem. Break performance may be reduced. See your dealer.” Vehicle available for inspection if requested. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The vehicle lost all ability to accelerate and a number of vehicle warning lights all activated at the same time. A number of warning messages started cycling through in the dash display including messages that there was a problem with power steering, braking, traction control, etc. upon restarting the vehicle, the vehicle drove normally. I took it into the Honda dealership the next morning, and they saw logs of the issue from the day before, but could not get the warnings to reappear. They said they could not replace any sensors or parts that they believe may be affected if the issue only occurred once as it was likely just a “glitch”. I expressed concerns about safety but they said too many parts would need to be replaced. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | While driving on highway, dashboard lights for brakes, check engine, and TPMS all came on. Unable to accelerate vehicle and pulled over to side of highway. Shut off the vehicle then started it again. Light for brake system stayed on, other lights were off. Was able to reach destination. Upon return, no lights came on and vehicle was able to be driven home. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Mar 2024 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,BACK OVER PREVENTION | On December 29th, 2023, the display dashboard was filled with alarms, breaks, alignment, tire pressure, etc. I took it to the dealership, and they ran diagnostics and found nothing wrong. They told me to bring it next time it happens. On Tuesday, March 19th, at 7:15 a.m. I was driving to work in rush hour traffic. My display dashboard was filled with alarms, and my vehicle did not allow me to accelerate. I put on my hazards and attempted to reach the shoulder. I was fortunate to have the assistance of the truck behind me, which realized something went wrong and blocked me so I could get to the shoulder. Once on the shoulder, I took photos of the dashboard, turned the vehicle off, and restarted. I was able to accelerate. I called the dealership and took the car in. They are still unsure of the problem. They think it might be a "control module." The part is on backorder so that the potential fix will take a week to several months. The dealership wants me to pick up the vehicle and use it until the part comes in. I will not. They do not have a loaner. I am keeping it with them until the part comes in. I will also be hounding them to provide me with a loaner until they can do so. I refuse to drive a vehicle that could stop working at any moment. I will not be a danger to myself, my family, or others. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES | Summary: vehicle shutdown while my wife was driving 25 MPH, lost all engine propulsion and brakes failed. Thankfully, she was driving in community/residential street and could pull over safely, rolling to a stop in a side lot. If she were at higher speeds or on a freeway, my wife and others could have been seriously injured. Details: Alerts for the brakes system "Brakes system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer" and one involving tire pressure (cannot recall the exact message) came on at 35 MPH. She then came to a stop at a stop sign normally about 30-60 seconds later, then proceeded to accelerate again, continuing on her short route. At 25 MPH, the instrument cluster, all screens/electronics went black/off, propulsion stopped and brakes failed. She was able to steer the vehicle to a side lot as it rolled to a stop. After 20 minutes of attempts to restart the car, it finally restarted as if nothing happened. Further more, in between attempts to restart the car, the infotainment screen would randomly turn on, despite not having turned on the car at that time. Subsequently drove to dealer for inspection and awaiting response. Vehicle has had no other problems, only 5500 miles, just under 1 year old. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | Top right edge of shoe (Taos Women's Startup Sneaker) can be entrapped between top face of the accelerator pedal and lower edge of console trim panel, compromising car control. Seems to be shoe specific. Inspection available upon request. Problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. Problem caused by accelerator pedal/trim panel proximity and trim panel edge design. Problem has occurred twice. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2023 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle shut off independently. Additionally, while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle decelerated to 0 MPH. The transmission warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the Lane Keep Assist became inoperable. The contact was able to pull over safely. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the warning light was reset. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and informed the contact there was no recall coverage on the vehicle for the failure. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V588000 (Power Train). The contact was referred to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 17,000 |
| Feb 2024 | STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | [XXX] My wife was driving this hybrid vehicle when it suddenly lost power in middle of road about a city block from starting location. There were no reasons for any automatic hazard overrides to become active. Dashboard displays stayed on but there was no accelerator response, and, importantly, there was an immediate loss of power steering and power brakes. Vehicle was traveling uphill and the emergency brakes had to be applied to arrest backward motion after coming to a stop. Judging by rate of slowdown, regenerative braking may also have been active. Rapidly following this, several diagnostic/warning messages (re brakes, steering, etc) started flashing in succession and then the message "see your dealer." About 10 minutes after this incident, my wife made one attempt to restart the car after turning the car off and then on. The response was a repeat of the flashing messages. I arrived at the scene about 20 minutes after this and the car restarted in a normal fashion. So, unfortunately, this is an intermittent, difficult-to-firmly-diagnose problem. Nevertheless, in view of the severe safety issues associated with this failure, we had the car towed to a Honda dealer. They found several items in the car's diagnostic system and, in consultation with Honda engineers, performed a software update for the ICM (ignition control module?) which, we were told, would address this problem, since other similar complaints had apparently been registered. The HUGE SAFETY ISSUE that this failure represents (loss of power along with steering assistance and braking assistance plus possibly more rapid deceleration) cannot be overestimated. We will be risking our lives to believe that the software fix truly addresses this problem. To believe that a software update is a sure fix is to believe that Honda knows the exact reason for this failure, and if they do, it is absurd that a software recall has not been issued. Please follow up on this matter with Honda. Thank you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | While traveling at approximately 72 mph along the NYS Thruway at approximately 6pm on Februay 17, 2024 the vehicle's emergency braking system activated. There were no vehicles or obstuctions present at the time. The cruise control system was engaged at the time of the incident. The vehicle slowed immediately to approximately 59 mph. The dashboard flashed a yellow light indicating to the driver to immediately brake. This happened very quickly and the vehicle then resumed normal speed. At the time of the incident the vehicle was approaching an underpass that was several hundred feet ahead of the vehicle at the time. There has been no incidents prior to this one. I believe our safety was put at risk, as the sudden slowing of the vehicle could have caused a rear end collision. At this time, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance agencies. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
