| Feb 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | I was travelling across a bridge at 45-50 MPH when suddenly, every single warning light came on and the engine shut off. I had to coast over the bridge and into a parking lot. I turned the car completely off and back on and the warning lights went away. The next day, I took the car to the dealership I purchased it from where they performed tests and concluded that rain caused my vehicle to shut off, this is not the first time they have encountered a similar issue, and there is nothing they can do about it. This is not an acceptable answer, as I cannot worry about mine and my family's safety in the car every time it rains. If there was another vehicle close to me when this happened, there would have been an accident. If this is a common issue, Honda needs to address this ASAP. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | This past December (2023) while driving my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid I experienced an issue where multiple warnings about the Engine, the Break System...etc lit up on the dash along with a warning to contact a dealership. As the warning messages lit up the dash, the car lost all drive-power and slowly decelerated to a stop. I had not made it out of the parking lot of my apartment complex, and a power-cycle allowed me to return back to my parking space. The obvious safety concerns, especially if I was in traffic, are self-evident as a crash could occur. The sporadic, unexplainable, and unpredictability makes it 10x more concerning from a safety standpoint. I've had one checkup since, and I have an subsequent appointment to have this checked even further. I've found other testimonies online from customers who've had this or similar experiences with this same make/model/year. I felt it best to report this as it could be a larger issue than the manufacturer currently understands or is making public. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | On 1/21 at about 12:20pm, the gas pedal on my 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid stopped responding mid-drive with no warning while going uphill at 25mph. Had to stop in the road, put the car in park, then put it back in gear and the pedal worked again. After the pedal cut out, multiple alerts cycled on the dash, but only the gas pedal stopped working. This is the 3rd such incident since buying the car new on Apr 30: (1) June 25 going downhill at roughly 30mph on a neighborhood road. I shut off the car and restarted, and the pedal worked again. (2) Nov 16 on the freeway going 60-65mph. Pulled over, shut off, restarted, and the pedal worked again. I brought the car to my dealer each time. They found “loss of communication codes” but could not replicate the issue. They still have my car as of now and told me via text that "your Accord is communicating codes that we do not have a repair for yet." Unfortunately, they have closed my case without making repairs because they "have not found any issues in the system". This puts me and any drivers around me in danger, especially on the freeway. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,LANE DEPARTURE | I was backing out of my driveway and put the car into drive I accelerated and applied firm brakes to slow the car down cause I forgot my brother. Brake system warning and tire pressure warning popped up and stayed. Turned the car on and off and it was still there. The next day everything was back to normal. Took it to the dealer and they said no codes were stored in the cars computer. Literally the next day a code popped up for the lane keep assist and disappeared 3 seconds later( this never happens usually). Took it to the dealer again but they said they can’t do anything if they can’t replicate the problem themselves. I’m suspecting an electrical issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES | The contact owns a 2023 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH, the "Power Train Failure" warning light illuminated, and the vehicle decelerated to approximately 20 MPH. The emergency braking system began activating. The contact coasted to the side of the road and had the vehicle towed to the residence. The failure also occurred while driving approximately 30 MPH. The failure had occurred three times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed. The dealer reset the vehicle to disengage the warning light that was illuminated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 18,000 |
| Jan 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | I was driving , went to turn onto a street from another when my car lost power. Warnings popped up but I was so concerned about getting out of oncoming traffic, that I did not have time to read them, let alone take photos. I turned the engine off and restarted the car. It started without problem but a Brake System Problem alert popped up. It advised to take the car to the dealer. After turning the car off and on again, the alert went away. The car was towed to the dealer on 1-18-24. The dealer is working on it as of today, 1/31/24. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | while running car warning light came on and vehicle stalls. Car wont go faster than 10 to 15 mph. This happen 4 times withing 5 months of purchase. First time took it to dealer and they were unable to find any problems. One more call dealer and dealer rep. said it probably was sensor or windshield camera but did not fix the problem. It happen again 2 times and took it to dealer and dealer said battery failed test and replace it. Same day after picking vehicle out of dealer it happen again. Purchase this vehicle as a relieable car for my daughter leaving to university and all it been is unsafe and unrealiable to her. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | VISIBILITY/WIPER,LANE DEPARTURE | Only four months of owning a 2023 Accord Hybrid EX-L the drivers side mirror with BSI-blind spot information, no longer is viewable at highway speeds. The dealership is aware but they say there is nothing they can do about this. I was told by the dealer that this particular drivers side mirror is on a very long back order across the country. I was told some mirrors were replaced but the same issue is occurring. Everyone is waiting on Honda to come up with a solution. It’s a dangerous situation while attempting to change lanes on the highway and not be able to view out the drivers side! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The car has stopped suddenly after taking a turn on the road. It gave a bunch of warnings on the speedometer display saying the TPMS failed, Brake System failed, Collision Detection failed, and contact the service center immediately. I restarted the car, the car started moving. The warnings were still there for some time and they started disappearing one by one. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,LANE DEPARTURE | I bought a 2023 Honda accord sport hybrid June of 2023 two weeks after purchasing the vehicle it starting giving me issues such as the dash board and infotainment screen would freeze up and completely erase itself I took it to the dealership 2 times they told me that if it didn’t do it at the dealership there was nothing they could do so they sent me home with the car. A week later I notice the safety system lights were coming on and saying system not working see dealer service soon I took photos of it and showed it to them they once again told me if it did not duplicate it self there was nothing they could do. I took it to them for the 3rd time for the same issue with even more photos and a video and got the same response. The same day I was otw to work and the whole system shut it self down again and erased completely and the dash board froze up I took it to them again on the first week of January and got them same excuse. Then on January 16 I was otw to work traveling at 45-50 mph when the car completely cut off and locked the steering wheel up and said shift to P to restart engine then after restarting the battery and brake system stayed on for 2 day then I took it to them on January 18 and they told me they didn’t know what the issue was with the car but it could be wiring and the wiring harness. And when I asked them to replace the car because I no longer feel safe driving it they told me they don’t think they can replace the car | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and was difficult to steer. The contact shifted from drive to neutral before the vehicle shut off and coasted to the side of the roadway. The hybrid battery and engine systems warning lights and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a defective Hybrid battery system control module. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5,640. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 5,640 |
| Jan 2024 | VISIBILITY | The contact owns a 2023 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while entering the vehicle, his wife noticed a vertical crack at the top right corner of the windshield. The contact inspected the windshield from the outside and there was no indentation of the glass around the crack that would indicate an impact on the windshield by road debris or any other hard object. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or a glass shop. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,600. | Crash: No Fire: No | 3,600 |
| Jan 2024 | STEERING | The steering wheel of my Honda Accord Hybrid model 2023 is sticky. When driving at about 50 miles per hour or more, the steering wheel is sticky, and when rotating, it suddenly becomes stuck. I need to correct the steering wheel all the time, which greatly affects my safety | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES | The warning lights dealing with the braking system malfunctions. All warning lights dealing with the Braking system come on the dash. The brakes failed to engage and the car began to roll backward on a hill had to use the emergency brakes to stop the car. This problem has happened twice since I had the car on 12/6/2023 at which time all warning lights came on dealing with the brake system and on 01/09/2024 both times the car was tested by the dealership and no codes were showing but I have a video of both incidents I provided. Both incidents were reported to the dealership on the same day of occurrence. 12/6/2023 and 01/09/2024. During this time the car was in EV mode and the acceleration would not respond as well. The only way to get the car back running normally was to turn the car off wait a few minutes and turn it back on. The photos attached will show speed and any other information needed because it is two different occasions of the same issue. In the second incident, a vehicle was behind me as the car began to roll back on a hill and I engaged the emergency brakes to avoid rolling back into the other vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | SEATS | Driver seat moves foward when brakes are applied. Took to dealer they stated they couldn't find anything wrong. Took me to another car and shake a driver seat and state they all move some. I own several vechicles and they never moved when breaking a vechicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | My wife was driving 55 mph taking our kids to school when the check engine light on the car came on and a message appeared on the dash saying that there was a power emission problem and to see dealer and that power may be reduced. The vehicle had very poor acceleration and she was only able to drive 30-40 mph on a busy 55 mph roadway. The vehicle was taken to Zeigler Honda of Kalamazoo. A service technician looked at the car, and told her that they could not find anything wrong with it. The vehicle drove fine home with no problems. One week later while driving on I-94, my wife was driving between 70 and 75 mph when the check engine light came on again, along with the message that there was a power emission problem and to see dealer. The message also stated that the power of the vehicle may be reduced. The vehicle again, had very poor acceleration. She was only able to drive 15 to 20 mph. Fortunately, she was able to get off the highway quickly, and drive the vehicle home. The vehicle had very poor acceleration and it took approximately 1.5 miles to get up to 40 mph in the vehicle with the accelerator pushed all the way to the floor. The dealer was contacted, and they advised they looked at it last time, and there was nothing that they could do. They advised they will create a service appointment to document the problem. I am in the process of waiting for the service department to call me back. I plan on taking the vehicle back to the dealership to have it inspected again, and to have this incident documented. This is a Huge safety issue that needs to be addressed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The rearview camera while backing up in low light is terrible at best. It cannot safely be used to back up due to the "snowy" pixels, even the dealership agrees the quality is less than poor. No the camera on the back is not dirty at all. I have pictures available, but your form below does not allow me to attach them. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | this vehicle upon heavy rain/downpours the vehicle foward collision sensors may activate and cause sudden dangrous and potentially life threatening braking. one day it was raining very bad i was alone on the road going about 45 mph. the storm caused a really bad downpours and the car suddenly braked hard with no reason whatsoever. it only happens when it rains severely. im not the only person who has experianced this. people on the facebook 2023 honda accord hybrid page has had the same issue. this system needs to be updated before it takes someones life. it is unsafe to drive this vehicle under heavy rains due to the automatic braking system kicking on due to being overwhelmed by heavy rains. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES | On Tuesday evening, December 19, 2023, while driving at highway speeds, the following message appeared on my digital display: BRAKE SYSTEM Brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. Other system messages began to appear, including, I believe, concerning the steering. More important, the car immediately went into a “limp mode“ with the speed dropping to 20 miles an hour, and then further down to as slow as 2 mph. Fortunately, I was not far from an exit and at the exit I pulled off the exit ramp onto the grass. I then shut the engine off and restarted it immediately. I was able to get back onto the exit ramp, but the initial message quickly reappeared and I was able to make it home driving between 10 and 15 mph. The next day the car was towed to the dealer who advised me that the issue was resolved by updating the software. At no point, did I ever receive a message or other indication that a software update was needed. The car has fewer than 5000 miles on it. The safety issue results from my being forced to drive at a very low speed while still on the highway. I independently did some online research and discovered that this type of issue has happened before with both this model and other Honda hybrids. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Good afternoon. I am contacting you because the dealer is not doing their job. For half a year of owning a car, we visited more services than we drove the car. The reasons for this: the steering wheel shook when driving this car from the very beginning, because the chassis was faulty. When braking, sounds and creaking are heard as if the car's chassis is shaking. The dealer said this is how it should be, but I know it shouldn't be this way. From the very beginning, the driver's front left wheel behaved incorrectly when driving at any time (the reason for this) was that the suspension system was not working properly. and all this is conveyed to me by the shaking steering wheel. The dealer says that's how it should be. (not true) Lately all the lights on the dashboard have been giving errors, including the check engine light. While driving on the road, we almost had an accident because all the lights on the dashboard lit up and the car itself stopped right on the road where there were a lot of cars. and the children were sitting in the car. we almost had an accident. 5 minutes later the car started and we drove off. Over the past six months this has happened 10 times. Solve the problem or we will go to court. Thank you | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | SEAT BELTS,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The 2023 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid has 8302 miles and it had complete brake failure. We had just refueled the car and moving away from the pumps, the pedal sank to the floor. I pumped the brakes several times and was able to stop the car. This was at about 3MPH. Received a message on the dash that the brakes were compromised and not to drive the car. Shut the car off and restarted. The brake pedal was spongy. We drove home (about 2 miles) very slowly, using the brakes minimally. When I got home, I shut the car off. I decided I wanted a picture of the dash warning, but it didn't return. Went for a very low speed drive to try to duplicate the problem, but it seems normal now. Bringing to original dealer, 12-17-2023. We've had several other issues related to the parking brakes and cruise control on 11-13-23. Brought to dealer on 11-16-23 and they were unable to fix due to part shortage. They failures displayed are: 1 - BRAKE SYSTEM - parking brake not available. 2 - BRAKE SYSTEM - Brake hold system problem. 3 - adaptive cruise control system problem. The drivers side rear seatbelt will not retract. Brought to dealer waiting for part to repair. We are fortunate this happened in a parking lot with little traffic. If this happened on a roadway at speed I would have no way to slow the car. This is a Hybrid so I am not able to downshift, the parking brake is not functioning due to previous problem and the electronic drive doe not provide compression braking if I shut the car off. I would be happy to answer any further questions you may have. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES | I was driving at 40mph and the vehicle was driving normally when it abruptly lost all power. There was no acceleration when the accelerator was pushed and I had to guide the vehicle to the side of the road. When the car stopped, a brake warning appeared and instructed me to see the dealer. I turned the car off and it would not restart for about 30 seconds. It finally restarted and I was able to drive the short distance home, however the brake warning remained on the dash. I just had the car towed to the dealer. The road conditions were clear and dry and I had no previous problems with the car. Brake warning: "Brake system: Brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer." Thankfully I had not yet entered the highway where the car's rapid deceleration could have caused an accident at highway speeds and jeopardized the safety of those in my vehicle and others on the roadway. I read that there has been a very limited recall on accord hybrids due to similar issues (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 23V588000) and I believe this issue should be further investigated to determine whether the problems are more widespread. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Car sunroof exploded while driving on highway, was going 65 on the 75(N central expressway) Dallas,TX. 3 passengers (family) in car and witnessed the incident. Glass shattered and got all over us, minor injuries such as cuts. Almost hit somebody upon explosion and glass shattering which landed on me and passengers, luckily we didn’t crash. Weather was 62 degrees and took place at 10:02 PM so weather wasn’t too hot or too cold to cause the explosion. Super scary as we could have been hit, especially driving on a highway where you can’t stop and pull off right of way. Again no objects were thrown and the car has no other damage but sunroof. Person on roadside said that this has happened before to Hondas and Acuras. After brought to Dealer twice, I was told by Honda that they are not responsible for the car and never offered to even fix it or quote it. I bought/ leased the car 2 months ago and yet they are saying it’s not a manufacturing issue. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 2 | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | STEERING,LANE DEPARTURE | When lane keep assist is enabled high speed steering becomes harder to turn left or right, and get sticky at the center position. This leads to an increased effort needed to turn the steering wheel wheel either left or right past the center position | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I experienced 8 separate malfunctions in the CMBS in 2 days. The systems problems still persists. And it is obvious that Honda is aware of the problem since nothing has changed in 10 years according to reports of the first incidences of the CMBS failures. I drove on the NAFTA super highway which is congested with semi-trucks. As described in the owners manual pg 413 it is obvious there is 1)radio waves interruptions, the car shutters just as the rear of the cab is approached, mostly like the transponders location, 3 occurances this trip but many more in the past 6 months since I purchased the vehicle. 2)Reflection from a trailer pallet bundle wrapped in clear plastic, it was obvious the glare from headlights created a reflection and caused the system to shutter the brakes and flash the BRAKE sign. 3) while driving into a curve with yellow reflective arrows caused the brakes to shutter. 4)in a dangerous construction zone while driving in the right lane against large white concrete barrier, the reflection created a sudden brake shutter. 5)Today, while driving in the rain through a neighborhood street, testing the cruise control at 27mph the brakes shuttered at a puddle reflection. I just got home from the Dealership who has no answers or solutions. And is very aware of the problem. Which in itself sounds unscrupulous. Paying all this money for a safety problem that could easily cause an accident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
