| Date | Component | Summary | Severity | Mileage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dec 2025 | STRUCTURE | Upper grill trim panel broke off while on highway and went flying over the truck while at highway speeds. Same issue as existing recall for the 2022 model. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Tailgate can open by switch located at storage area in console. It can be easily bumped then tailgate will o pen without driver receiving a warning light or dashboard message. If this occurs, and it did with this vehicle, any cargo could potentially fall out causing accident to vehicles following. Additionally, the powertrain (transmission) is a known problem for failure. If such a failure occurs the rear wheels can lock up causing accidents/injury to driver and others. NOTE- this has not happened to this vehicle yet but does cause concern for it happening and GM not doing a recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | ENGINE | Cylinder failed right after I had the 6.2 engine recalled. Failed on a 1200 mile daily trip through winter conditions in Utah. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Vehicle stalled out, lost power, left me stranded on side of road. No warning, check engine lights or any other inclination prior. Turn out to be fuel pump control module. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The grille deflector suddenly detached from the truck and flew off into traffic. It narrowly missed the vehicle behind me and could have caused a serious accident or injury. There was no prior warning or impact that would explain the failure. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The Telemetry/OnStar unit stopped working on my 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali. This renders the OnStar unit unusable for both data and calling OnStar. In the event of an accident, the driver could not call OnStar for help and OnStar would not get an automatic notification that there had been a crash with the vehicle's location. The failure of the unit has also caused a code indicating Low Brake System Voltage. I know that is not the case in my vehicle at this time, but if the brake system does start to fail, there is no way to know if the code is real or just a result of the Telematics system failing. This failure occurred shortly after an Over-The-Air software update GMC sent out. I have seen numerous reports of people with the exact same year and model having the same issue. The unit worked fine for 2.5 years and after the software update, it was bricked. GM wants in the neighborhood of $1,000 to replace and install the unit but they are on backorder with ETA's 3 or 4 months out. They are also coded with the VIN so there is no other option than to go to the dealership for repair. The part cannot be ordered from an aftermarket manufacturer or from GM's official parts website, local dealership only. In order to get this important safety feature working again, the only option is to go have it fixed at the dealership, which charges $200/hr in labor on top of the $500 part needed. The 3-4 month backorder should be enough evidence that GMC has had a widespread failure of these units. GMC basically broke the Telemetry/Onstar units with a software update and wants it's customers to pay for their mistake. If this is not considered an important enough of a safety feature for NHTSA to do an investigation on, this matter should be investigated as an illegal business practice with the FTC or Department of Justice. GM has effectively created a problem (through the software update) that only they can fix and then charging customers whose warranty has expired. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING,VISIBILITY/WIPER | While driving in the rain, the windshield wipers were on the highest intermittent setting and the high beam headlights were also on, automatic highbeams were not. The high beam lights dimmed to low, and the windshield wipers stopped in the middle of the windshield in the middle of navigating a sharp right hand turn at 35mph. The wipers stopped for approximately 30 seconds and then resumed operation. When the wipers resumed operation, the headlights also turned back on high with no input from the driver. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | ENGINE | I own a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 (Black Widow Edition). The Truck has only 23000 miles on it. I experienced an Idle engine warning mid driving, and oil hot warning. It did Shutdown the engine of the vehicle and as I was trying to merge safely to the right lane and right side of the way the steering became very hard which put me and 3 of my employees in danger. After parking safely, I did call onstar and they ended up towing the truck while we waited for hours in the dark and cold temperature to get a ride. State police and Mdot did not show up even though we called them multiple times. This was a nightmare. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | STRUCTURE | Upper grill molding trim/bezel flew off truck. Part was recovered and clips look to have broken off. Plastic clips look to be insufficient and will break over time. Active recall for 2022 model vehicles only , needs to be expanded to 2023 or possibly further out. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | ECM - Engine System code P0700 and TCM - Transmission System code U0073. The truck went in to first gear and wouldn't go over 5 MPH on the highway. The dealer is saying it can't be replicated but it's happened multiple times to the vehicle in the past week. The truck was taken to the dealership and inspected but they claim nothing is wrong. The check engine light came on as well as the aforementioned codes. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | While stopped at traffic signal, vehicle suddenly stops running. Restarted vehicle and had to feather the throttle to keep it running. Engine began to run normally so I continued driving. When I reached approximately 35 mph, a loud rattling noise started and experienced a severe loss of power. Fortunately I was able to safely get out of the traffic lanes to the side of the roadway. I inspected the vehicle, no oil leaks, no coolant or transmission leaks. No warning indicators on the dash. Oil pressure normal. Temperature normal. I limped the vehicle home to be towed to dealer. Approximately 2 months ago this vehicle passed the recall inspection and had the recommended oil change. There was a previous warranty repair performed on a stuck exhaust valve in the #8 cylinder. The vehicle was also brought in to the dealer for suddenly cutting off while driving approximately 50 mph. Again I was able to pull off safely. The vehicle then started normally and I proceeded to drive. The dealer inspected the vehicle and could not replicate the issue, and found no electrical or mechanical trouble codes. There were absolutely no warning indications prior to each of these events. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | STRUCTURE | Molding between top of grill and hood came off while traveling on highway and struck windshield and broke it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | See attached document for complaint. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | OnStar module in-operable, bought the vehicle expecting the system to work as it is another safety feature in case of an accident. Technical support will not continue to respond when contacted. Will not assist with any technical support to diagnose issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | STRUCTURE | The top of front grille broke off at 70 mph, struck the windshield then the fixed antenna on top of the truck then into traffic behind me all doing 70+ MPH across a one mile long 2 lane bridge with no place to avoid the debris. The failed part endangered myself, my family and anyone traveling behind us. No one has seen the remnants of the event/ issue but The part was approximately 2ft long and 8 inches wide. The truck has a top piece that sits between the hood and the top of the grille. The part is gone but one can see the broken clips and flimsy plastic. The previous year model of the truck had a recall opened earlier this year for the same problem but not my truck. Multiple forums online report the same event as mine occurring on multiple model years. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING | OTA update GM N25-250380 caused significant problems. Blinker tone and other safety tones are erratic. Infotainment system is erratic. Constant reboots while driving causing distractions. Camera screens will freeze on screen while driving down interstate. It may be affecting other systems as well since everything is erratic and buggy now. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | ENGINE | The check engine light is illuminated. Diagnostic information from the OnStar system indicates a fault within the engine cooling system. The engine cooling fan remains engaged continuously, suggesting a possible malfunction with the cooling system components or related sensors. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | POWER TRAIN,WHEELS | At 12,018 miles on my 2024 gmc sierra 1500 I experienced a rear wheel lock up. I have 4wheel drive capability but I had the truck in rear wheel drive only. Thankfully I was not going fast at the time. I was going between 35-45 mph when experiencing the lock up. As I was going down a straight away, I experienced a rear wheel lock up of my 10L80 transmission. My tires were squealing like crazy. I pulled off onto the side of the road. After shifting to reverse and then park and then drive the problem corrected itself. When I brought it into the dealership, they could not find anything wrong with it. Additionally my trucks software was up to date and not lacking any updates. I don’t drive this truck very far and only drive about 150 miles a week. A rear wheel lock up of this magnitude at this low of miles is concerning. I’m not rough on the truck by any means. It’s more so a family vehicle than a hauler. I have got the truck serviced 3 times since I bought it for regular maintenance so that’s not an issue either. There were no warning indicators that this problem was occurring when I experienced the rear wheel lock up. This could have resulted in a collision with vehicles around me if I had not been aware of what was occurring. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | POWER TRAIN | On 9/27 the engine light went on and message transmission May not shift | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The Onstar system and Wifi connectivity stopped working over a week ago. The vehicle is less than two-years old, but it had three recalls which we took it in for this past week. We were told by the GMC dealership that one of the recalls would correct the problem with the Onstar and Wifi connectivity. However, it did not and now we are being told that the Onstar module needs to be replaced, and the dealer says it isn't under warranty. GMC has tied the warranty of the Onstar module to the miles instead of the time in-service. Many other customers are experiencing the same issue. GM markets Onstar as one of their safety features and as such repairs should be covered by the manufacturer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V27400 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and initially confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact received notification that the parts for the recall repair were available. Upon arrival to the dealer, the contact was informed that the recall repair would be an oil change with thicker, higher viscosity oil. The contact expressed concerns that the failure might occur because the engine was not replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | In the past few months this truck has been worked on twice. First was the valve body and now it is the coolant control valve. These things have caused my truck to completely slow down or shut down without warning. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | This has now happened 4 times and I'm taking the truck to the dealership to figure out what the issue is. At high speeds, 65 to 75 mph, on the freeway, the rear brakes suddenly lock up for no apparent reason. Extremely dangerous for myself and surrounding vehicles, especially behind me. The most recent incident pretty much gave me whiplash because it's unexpected with no warnings whatsoever. The freeway was clear, with light traffic. I was almost rear ended because the vehicle behind me had no reason to believe the my vehicle was going to suddenly come to an abrupt stop. I looked up any known similar issues for the 2023 model, and found that there GMC did a recall for similar issues on the up to 2022 models, but that the issue had been resolved. Obviously it hasn't. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | ENGINE | On August 17, 2025 while traveling north on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey, my vehicle suffered a catastrophic engine failure without warning. Fortunately, I was able to get off the roadway without incident. This is the SECOND time this has occurred in the past 4 months. (1st NHTSA Complaint 04/18/2025 #11655375) This second engine failure occurred with less than 6000 miles, and only about 3 months of driving. As of this report, the vehicle has not been repaired. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle started running abnormally rough, promptly the contact to discontinue driving the vehicle. The message “Service Traction Control” was displayed, and the ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but it had not yet been diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 20,000 |
