| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | I was driving on the Oklahoma turnpike @ 75mph when the engine locked up in traffic. I coasted to the side of the road and called roadside assistance. The truck is currently at Vance GMC in Miami, OK getting the engine replaced. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN | I am writing to formally file a safety complaint regarding the ongoing recall of the GMC/Chevrolet 6.2-liter V8 engine and what I believe to be an inadequate and insufficient remedy being provided to vehicle owners. I purchased a brand-new 2023 GMC Sierra AT4 equipped with the 6.2-liter engine. I drive approximately 6,000 miles per year and maintain the vehicle carefully. After receiving the recall notice, I promptly took my truck to an authorized GMC dealership for inspection and repair. The only action taken was an oil change to a heavier-weight oil. I was told that everything was “fine” and that no further action was required. I find this remedy unacceptable given the severity and nature of the reported failures associated with this engine platform. Simply changing to a heavier oil does not address the underlying mechanical risks and does not provide owners with meaningful assurance that catastrophic engine failure will not occur without warning. This issue is particularly serious for me because I rely on my vehicle for my livelihood. I am an account sales executive and use this truck extensively for work travel and customer meetings. If my vehicle were to fail unexpectedly, it could cause me to miss critical business meetings, resulting in immediate financial loss and potentially long-term damage to customer relationships and sales performance. The current remedy provides no confidence that such a scenario will not occur. In addition, this recall has materially harmed the resale and trade-in value of my vehicle. Dealerships are now significantly lowballing trade-in offers because the 6.2-liter engine recall is widely known and prospective buyers are reluctant to purchase these vehicles. Buyers are also aware that any future owner will not receive the benefit of the original powertrain warranty coverage in the same way, further depressing resale value. As a result, I am effectively trapped in a nearly new vehicle that has become difficult to sell or trade due | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | This malfunction is ongoing and the dealership cannot fix the problem. The first time it happened in September 2025. I was driving down the road and the gauges started to go crazy. The screen on the dash said reduced acceleration. Then it said Service ESC. Then it said Service Traction Control. It would not let me go over 40 mph. I took it to the dealership and they told me I needed a valve body replacement. They installed the valve body and that did not fix the problem. It happened again and said reduced acceleration took over forcing me to pull over on the side of the road. The GMC dealership said to bring it in again but they could not reproduce the malfunction after driving for a week. It happens randomly. The third time this happened I was traveling up interstate 24 at about 70 mph. There were semi trucks around me when the malfunction happened and my acceleration and speed was reduced throwing the RPMs as high as they would go, and I was almost hit by a semi trying to move out of the way and onto the shoulder of the interstate I tried to accelerate to get out of the way of the semi truck but could not. I had to swerve over almost losing control of my truck. I informed the dealership that this had happened again and they asked me to bring it in. I did. They told me they were going to clean corrosion off of ground wires, and that should fix the problem. It did not. This keeps happening and I feel that the vehicle is not safe to drive. I do not know when it will happen again. I travel for a living and I feel the vehicle is unsafe to operate. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Tailgate is randomly dropping while driving without any tailgate drop buttons being pushed. It’s is starting to occur more frequently. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | I have a 2013 GMC 1500 with the 6.2L Engine. There was a recall on my engine when I purchased it used with 21K on the odometer. I took it in for the 5K oil change at 26K miles and the "performed the recall oil change" replacing the oil with 0W40 oil saying this should "fix the recall". At 32K miles my engine blew up on Christmas Eve 12/24/2025 and left my son and I stranded on the side of the road. I had the truck towed to the GMC dealer and they are now in the process of replacing the entire engine. I have now been without my truck for over a month because several other owners with 6.2L engines are having the same issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | i was driving down the road the front piece of the grill flew off the truck and hit my windshield, then flew into oncoming traffic. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | I had the truck inspected for recall N25249400 on August 11, 2025 with 24,610 miles. It passed the recall inspection and the dealer changed the oil to GM recall recommended oil. On January 18, 2026 with 28,275 miles, the engine seized while on a major highway. The truck lost all power and just turned off amd would not start or turn over. The vehicle was towed by the Police due to the vehicle being in a dangerous spot in the middle of a lane on the highway whi h I had to pay out of pocket. January 19, 2026, the GM dealer confirmed that the truck needs a new engine due to the recall defect. They said that they had just ordered a new engine, but does olnot know hpw long ot will take to get and then install. The dealer is unable to provide a rental vehicle which means, I can't WORK! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | I have a 2023 GMC Delnali 1500 and the engine blew up 1-14-26 after the local CMC dealer 2 months ago done a check up recall from GMC that said they would do a test on the engine and cahnge the oil with a heavier weight oil that would solve the problem. After the dealer done the test and changed the oil to a heavier weight I was told all was good. Well 2 months later the engine blew up while I was driving down the road at 50 miles and the truck lost all propulsion. I had the truck towed to my house because noone knew what was wrong with it. I called the local dealer the next day and I had the truck towed to them. They checked the engine and said it blew apart and that GMC will replace the engine and also install a new radiator when all the parts are available. The dealership Laura Buick GMC and employees has been fantastic and have supplied me with a vehicle to drive till the repair is finished. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | STRUCTURE | I was driving on the interstate and the upper grill broke off of the truck and hit my windshield. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | I have the 6.2L in the truck… I had the recall done due to lower motor crank bearing failure last fall… It passed the recall. They changed the oil cap and changed to a heavier weight oil… This week, the lower engine disintegrated and had to get towed into the dealership dealer is telling me I need a new motor | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Driving at 35 mph in traffic and the RPMs started to increase to 3500rpm and vehicle started to slow down inevitably putting me into Reduced Acceleration..limp mode. Truck would not shift into Reverse either once I could safely merge out of traffic and put into park. Very very dangerous and scary situation. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | STRUCTURE | Upper part to the Front grille detached from bumper while driving, causing loud impact on windshield (cracking it) and scratching hood. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | Vehicle passed initial inspection and had higher viscosity oil installed. After driving for the past six months I noticed a burning oil smell inside the truck. The smell gets intense at times especially during highway driving. The OW-40 viscosity oil is causing high fumes within the cockpit. Please consider checking this issue out during your added investigation into the L-87 engine failure. I shouldn't have to drive with the windows down but I do. I will have the truck inspected during my next oil change next week. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | ON THE INTERSTATE THE TRUCK SAID TO PRESS ENGINE START AND EVERYTHIG WAS DEAD, I WAS ALMOST HIT SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO GET IT FROM THE PASSING LANE TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. I TOWED IT TO MY DEALER WHO SAID THE ENGINE SUFFERED CATASTROPHIC FAILURE DUE TO A RECALL ON THE 6.2 ENGINE. NO WARNING LAMPS OR ANY INDICATORS WERE GIVEN. ALL SERVICE RECORDS ARE IN ORDER ALONG WITH A RECALL INSPECTION RELATED TO MY ISSUE. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | My engine started making a clicking noise like a playing card in a bicycle spokes. Was able to drive and make it to dealership and they determined that my engine crankshaft had to much end play and they needed to replace the engine. They had my truck approximately 2 weeks, did not provide me a loaner, nor any reimbursement for being without my truck during this time. My truck was still under the factory bumper to bumper warranty at the time. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Onstar module is out. No wifi, speed reporting or maps access. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Driving on highway at 60mph while towing a travel trailer and the rear tires briefly locked up, the check engine light came on with an explanation mark (!) and the dash displaying a major warning. The truck went into "limp mode." Computer code read P0747. Dealer confirmed issue and replaced valve body. Truck had 22,000 miles. Appears 2023 vehicles should be added to the original recall for long-term warranty protection. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | OnStar quite working, light nothing. Called Onstar, told me I need to take to the dealer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The OnStar vehicle locater, GPS maps, clock (auto update) are not responsive as of the 2nd week of December 2025. My truck cannot be located via OnStar, I cannot use the GPS Maps for directions, and the Clock reads 12 minutes fast when I put it into Auto Update mode. Reported to my GMC dealer (Elizabeth City GMC, Elizabeth City, NC 27909, and had in for service 3 times without correction of the issue! The dealership conducted a Software System Update which cost me $400.00, and still did not correct the issue. I spoke with OnStar three (3) times to try and correct issues but they did not resolve the problems either. OnStar stated it is a GMC issue............My last service at the Elizabeth City GMC dealer the Service Tech stated the OnStar Module is bad and requires replacement, and stated it will be an additional $550.00 +/-!!! Please advise and assist in further action I can take as this issue should be a Warranty issue and replaced by GMC and/or OnStar!!! Class Action Suit in line! Thank you. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | STRUCTURE | While driving down the highway the top part of the front of the grill flew off bounced over top of my vehicle and landed on the ground in the highway where the car behind me then ran it over and it blew into the median. I notified my local GMC dealer who said there is no active recall. Filed a complaint with GMC as this is a known issue and has already been recalled on the 2022 model. They reviewed and denied my claim at this time. It is a known manufacturer issue and creates a highway hazard if they continue to blow off and possibly hit or injure athers | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
