Feb 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM On Saturday at approximately 5:30 p.m., while driving on a two-lane city street with vehicles around me, my GMC Sierra began malfunctioning. The gauges flickered, warning lights appeared, and a transmission warning activated. As I attempted to safely pull over, the vehicle began stuttering and then completely stalled in the middle of traffic. Cars swerved and honked to avoid hitting me. Fortunately, no collision occurred, but the situation was extremely dangerous and frightening. AAA towed the vehicle to the GMC dealership. When I informed them of the incident, I received a text asking whether an over-the-air update had been performed prior to the stall. I confirmed the vehicle had received an update within the past three months. I was then told there is a bulletin stating that after an over-the-air update, the vehicle may suddenly lose communication with multiple modules and stall. The foreman indicated this was likely the cause and that they were consulting Technical Assistance. I asked when it is considered safe to drive a GMC vehicle following an update, as I was never warned that the vehicle could suddenly lose power and stall without notice. I was told they were investigating further. Yesterday, I was informed that engineering directed them to replace the ECM (Engine Control Module) and the Fuel Pump Control Module, with the ECM expected to arrive next Wednesday. I have not been given a confirmed timeline for completion. This appears to be a serious and known issue within GMC, yet there has been no recall and no warning provided to consumers. I was unknowingly driving a vehicle susceptible to sudden and complete power loss. This failure placed my life, my family, and the safety of others at significant risk.

Feb 2026 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Driving along a main road at 40-45 MPH and coasting toward a traffic light, the engine stalled out. Traffic light turned green and the vehicle would not accelerate. There were no warnings, check engine lights, or sounds. I could not pull to the shoulder due to traffic and had to pull into a left hand turn lane. The truck would not restart. Electrical systems seemed fine. Engine would turn over but not start on multiple attempts. One attempt finally got it to start but it immediately stalled. I was stuck in a dangerous situation at a busy intersection and no way to move the vehicle. It has been towed to the dealership.

Feb 2026 POWER TRAIN While driving the vehicle I received dash warnings of temperature rise. Pulled over and saw a large coolant leak coming from right side of engine compartment. Towed to dealership. Dealership informed me that coolant hose coming from heater core was routed by the manufacturer so that it rubbed on the frame. Dealer indicated problem persists on all vehicles and no given, other than replacing the hose and not remedy the problem. New hose will be in contact with frame again, causing inevitable where and breakage. Dealer did not cover under warranty nor did they offer solution for repair other than replacing those hose.

Feb 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER At approximately 29,000 miles, my 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 experienced a transmission failure. The transmission began slipping, shifting improperly, and operating unpredictably during normal driving conditions. This occurred without warning and well below the expected lifespan of a transmission, indicating a serious defect rather than normal wear or maintenance-related issues. The vehicle became unreliable and unsafe to operate, particularly during acceleration and highway driving, where delayed or improper shifting created a potential safety hazard. I relied on this vehicle for daily transportation and work, and the worsening transmission condition made continued operation unsafe and impractical. I later became aware that transmission failures are a widespread and documented issue affecting this model year GMC Sierra 1500, suggesting a possible manufacturing or design defect. Due to the severity and premature nature of this transmission failure, I was forced to return the vehicle early. General Motors is now charging me a balance of over $10,000 related to the early lease termination, which was directly caused by this defective transmission and not by customer misuse or negligence. My requested resolution is for General Motors to waive the full balance of over $10,000, as this financial obligation resulted solely from a premature transmission failure caused by a defect outside of my control.

Feb 2026 ENGINE Vehicle exhibited a sudden loss of power, dash screen stated a restart of the vehicle was needed. I was able to coast into a neighborhood upon attempting to restart the vehicle nothing would happen and it would not even attempt to turn over, proceeded to contact onstar for roadside assistance, vehicle taken to nearest GMC dealership where it was determined to have engine failure and a new engine under warranty will be installed.

Feb 2026 ENGINE After 5000 miles between oil changes, the engine had burned enough oil to have no oil in the dipstick. This equals at least 3 quarts oil if a 7 quart capacity. The dealership states this truck burns a quart to quart and a half every 2000 miles. This seems like an excess amount of oil consumption.

Feb 2026 POWER TRAIN The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving in 1st and 2nd gear, the transmission was slipping, causing the vehicle to jerk. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the valve body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.

Feb 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE This vehicle since early inception of ownership has been brought to the dealer for failure to start, oil consumption and the vehicle stopping suddenly on it's own. There have been 13 service calls and each time the vehicle has been brought to dealer for the problem at hand shortly after that the vehicle was brought back again for the same issue and eventually escalating into other severe problems. The vehicle is unsafe to drive because it suddenly stops without warning, oil is being burned and needs replacement more often than it should. The vehicle recently had to be towed because it stopped and could not be started. The manufacturer claims that there is nothing wrong with this truck. However, this was disputed by a second dealer that examined the vehicle.

Feb 2026 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE The vehicle has experienced repeated incidents of sudden reduced engine power and loss of acceleration while driving. On multiple occasions, while traveling at highway speeds, the vehicle failed to respond normally to throttle input and would not accelerate as commanded and loss of power steering making it difficult to turn the steering wheel and apply brakes. One incident resulted in throwing my truck off the road and luckily we nearly avoided a multi car collision and potential pile with my wife, 8yr old daughter and newborn son in the vehicle at high speeds up to 60/70+ mph but despite avoiding a major life threatening accident to us and other drivers, resulted in striking objects, glass and debris on the side of the road causing damage to my vehicle and then sliding to a complete stop in the ditch off the highway. This creates a hazardous driving situation, particularly when merging into traffic or attempting to maintain speed with surrounding vehicles, increasing the risk of collision. The malfunction appears related to the engine, electrical system, and powertrain. During at least one dealership visit, the reduced power condition was recreated and confirmed by service personnel. However, despite multiple warranty repair attempts, the issue continues to reoccur intermittently. Warning messages have appeared at times, including reduced engine power notifications and check engine indicators, though the condition has also occurred without advance warning. The intermittent nature of the defect makes it unpredictable and unsafe. The vehicle has been out of service for more than 30 cumulative days for warranty-related defect repairs related to this and other electrical issues. Multiple repair attempts have not permanently corrected the condition. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. Due to the unpredictable loss of acceleration and prior safety incidents, there are ongoing concerns regarding safe operation of the vehicle.

Feb 2026 STRUCTURE While driving on Interstate 10 at 70 mph the upper section of the front grille broke off. After the part broke off it contacted my windshield before continuing to fly off behind him. Not only putting me in danger but also anyone traveling behind me. From online research the is a recall for this truck except the 2022 models after the same thing happening.

Feb 2026 ENGINE My truck supposedly passed the initial recall for the 6.2L GM engines. AT THIS TIME THEY CHANGED THE OIL AND SAID THE ENGINE WAS FINE! 5 months and one oil change (performed at the same GM dealership using the new recommended oil) my engine seized up while driving approximately 55 mph in rush hour traffic. The engine made a banging and clanging noise and lost power approximately 1/4 miles after the initial noise. This almost caused two accidents as the traffic had to come to a sudden stop, That’s engines are extremely dangerous to both the owners and the driving public on the highways alongside them. p the failure of the engine put me in a highly dangerous situation. This “oil” Fix is not doing what GM is saying it will do. I was told yesterday that my vehicle will need a new engine and radiator. This is simply dangerous and it makes for a horrible financial situation with the truck already needing a new engine.

Feb 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The vehicle camera camera system is sometimes not available at startup and will not reset until the vehicle is allowed to sit for several hours. This prevents the backup camera, forward camera and side mirror cameras from providing an in-dash video of vehicle surroundings, which is especially critical for reversing direction or backing-up. Typically the camera will reset after sitting from a period of time. I have reported it to the dealer, but their position has been that since camera has always been working when I bring the truck in for service, is that there is really nothing they can do to correct the intermittent issue.

Feb 2026 ENGINE On or about Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 12:20 CST, at the Chevrolet Dealership in Libertyville, IL; I presented my 2023 GMC Sierra to “Manny” at said dealership due to the vehicle INSTRUCTING ME TO DO SO because of DTC codes displayed indicating a failed DEF tank. I was told a technician would be able to diagnose the vehicle that afternoon. MakeModelYearVIN GMCSierra2023 [XXX] Day 1: came and went with no contact from the service department as promised. Day 2: Wednesday, February 4 came with – again – no follow-up from the dealer. When I CALLED I was told there were “no notes in the service order” and “the tech has gone home.” Day 3: Thursday morning “Manny” called to tell me nothing was done and nothing could be done. I was told to “call GM” and complain about my problem. This is how GM treats its customers. This is how GM treats its REPEAT customers. This is how GM treats its customers who BUY THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTIES. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Feb 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I was driving on an overpass and suddenly loss propulsion in my vehicle. My vehicle stopped all of a sudden and while driving, leaving me stranded in the middle of the roadway blocking traffic. Numerous motorists stopped to give a hand but the vehicle would not switch gears from PARK, to neutral to even give me a hand moving the vehicle out of the roadway to the side/shoulder. Due to this issue, authorities were dispatched to my location to conduct traffic control and subsequently called in aide of a tow truck to safely move my vehicle to a better location. I used OnStar in my vehicle and also spoke with a representative who notated the incident and I was advised that a tow truck would take approximately 90 mins to 2 hours to reach me. In this instance, that was too long of a wait for events going wrong with the vehicle itself and was subsequently transferred from the roadway to a GMC dealership, namely Group 1 South on the Gulf Freeway. They are handling my repairs and have diagnosed that the engine needs to be completely replaced and are in the process of repairs. If any information is needed regarding status or repairs, please contact the dealership directly as I do not have any physical or written information on the status of my vehicle. Attached is the towing receipt.

Feb 2026 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered while in first gear. The contact stated that the transmission sounded strained and shifted rough before slamming into gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the vehicle was oversteering while turning to the right. The dealer replaced the valve and torque converter. On another occasion, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle accelerated independently. Most recently, a burned transmission fluid odor was coming from the front of the vehicle and entered the cabin through the A/C vents. There oil stains found on the ground on several occasions. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the valve body was replaced, the fluid levels were checked, and the transmission filter was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact called the dealer, and the dealer towed the vehicle. The dealer determined that the oil cap was loose. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 8,496.

Feb 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Engine shut off on the interstate with no warning. Would not re-start. Feb 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The contact owned a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked on the driveway, it caught on fire. The contact was inside the residence when a passerby knocked on the door and informed the contact of the fire. A neighbor helped extinguish the fire. When the contact stepped outside, the flames were by the instrument panel; the flames had risen to the rooftop. The front windshield was shattered. The fire was contained to the cabin. The fire department was called. The contact stated that weeks before the fire started, an abnormal sound could be heard coming from the engine. The contact removed the battery from the vehicle. The vehicle was not insured. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Feb 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE Vehicle will show lane keep assist system as active but provide no intervention and allow vehicle to travel into the next lane intermittently. System will also move itself to the next lane unexpectedly when near the lane markers of the original lane. Feb 2026 ENGINE Engine losing 60% to 50% of its oil capacity at 5000-6000 miles with 40-50% life left in the vehicles built in maintenance minder. This has been a trend since 25,000 miles. By this math, vehicle would have minimal oil, if any at all, when vehicle says service is due. Creates a high probability for catastrophic failure at speed and increases smoke / condensation from the exhaust in colder weather. Dealer states this is a common problem, manufacture has adjusted their oil consumption standards to make this a "normal" amount despite the risk of failure and injury at speed.

Feb 2026 ENGINE My 2023 GMC Sierra Denali experienced a catastrophic engine failure even after receiving the official recall repair. The recall remedy did not prevent engine failure. This raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of the recall fix, especially given reports that NHTSA is evaluating this recall’s efficacy. I was stranded on a hill and this was a very dangerous situation.
