| Mar 2025 | TIRES | Tire size 265/60R20. All tires have cracked around the bead of the rim. This was discovered at 24,663 miles during regularly scheduled maintenance at Copeland Toyota in Brockton, MA on March 20, 2025. Defective manufacturing suspected. Upon further investigation of this tire model on the Internet, I discovered dozens of reports of the same sidewall failure by Toyota Tundra owners with very low mileage. I contacted Bridgestone Support on March 20, and per their instruction, took the vehicle to a Bridgestone authorized dealer (Firestone Complete Auto Care, Warren Ave. Brockton, MA) on March 21. The inspection determined that the tires have failed. The technician indicated that Bridgestone has very limited inventory of this tire model, indicative that the tire is being discontinued. I contacted Bridgestone Support on March 21, indicating that there is likely a manufacturing defect, and was advised to report this to the NHTSA, because the Bridgestone employee stated that they have no internal capability to report a potential manufacturing defect. I suspect there is a likelihood that these tires have been discontinued because of defects, but Bridgestone has not alerted customers of such a safety hazard. My Bridgestone Support reference number is [XXX]. Please investigate this as I believe there is a safety hazard due manufacturer defect. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | When I step on the accelerator the engine will sometimes have a very long lag which has almost caused me to get in a wreck when crossing traffic. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The cover on the passenger side mirror has a cover with a camera attached that keeps flying off on highways. Last time it came detached from the vehicle and tripped my collision control sending my vehicle into an emergency stop for no reason. I had no warning that this was going to come off nor should I expect body panels to fly off my vehicle. I have expressed this to Toyota and showed evidence of this being a well documented issue with other customers and they are still denying responsibility for this. My vehicle has never been in an accident and this part has never been tampered with. The dealer even feels this is a quality issue with Toyota and tried to help and was unsuccessful. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Hesitation when trying to accelerate after slowing down or coming to a stop. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,TIRES | See attached document for complaint. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | Front brakes noisy, vehicle shudders when brakes applied. Dealership inspected at 21,000 miles, replaced brake pads and turned rotors at 22,000 miles. Not under warranty, paid out of pocket. Now Toyota admits brake parts were faulty, has new part numbers to repair the defect, but parts have been on backorder for 6 months or more. Toyota needs to recall the defective brakes, and make a remedy (upgraded brake parts) available to ALL affected owners, including those that were denied coverage under warranty, and are still driving around on original, faulty brakes. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | ENGINE | When pulling out onto roadway after stopping there is a hesitation for a few seconds and the vehicle hesitates which is very dangerous and could cause an accident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | There is a drastic throttle hesitation. When at a complete stop or from a slow speed, upon accelerating, it’s like the truck needs three seconds to realize I’m trying to go forward. In certain situations, this can be very dangerous. Has happened consistently since I have had the truck for 2.5 years. I tell the dealer every single time and they can’t ever duplicate it and if they could, they aren’t going to fix it anyway. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | ENGINE | Hesitation when I press the accelerator almost causing several accidents as I get stalled in the middle of an intersection. This has happened approximately five times in the last several months. A very scary situation. Very dangerous several times almost was T-boned | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Vehicle hesitates when pressing the accelerator, especially when pulling off after a complete stop. This doesn't happen 100% of the time. From my experience, this happens 65-70% of the time with varying degrees of hesitancy. It's a safety issue as you never know when this is going to happen and to what degree; especially when crossing traffic lanes at an uncontrolled street crossing. I have spun out of my gravel driveway many times due to the hesitation. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Vehicle sporadically hesitates when accelerating from stop. Cause unknown. Dealer declined to address condition because they could not replicate it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | There is hesitation when depressing the accelerator. After stopping at stop sign then trying to move into traffic the vehicle will not move for several seconds. When the vehicle does move it takes off at an increased rate. This has happened several times from the first day the vehicle drove off the lot until present day. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | ENGINE | Have constant hesitation when accelerating, especially at higher speeds. Only thing that has fixed it is when dealer resets computer, after a week issues comes back. Happens also when at a stop and try to accelerate rapidity. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | ENGINE | Vehicle began with a knocking noise which occurred for approximately 3 days. Before being able to get an appointment at the dealer the vehicle shut off and would not move with our family in it in a lane of traffic. The vehicle has since been towed to Toyota and no clear guidance on the resolution of the engine seizing up has been shared. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | Truck will hesitate to respond to throttle pedal input when attempting to accelerate from a stop. This has occurred numerous times over the 3 years I’ve owned it and appears to happen randomly. This 1-2 second delay puts driver safety and other drivers at risk due to inability to quickly enter or cross lanes of traffic. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The engine hesitated going up a hill by my house. I’ve gone up the hill many times in this truck and other cars and never had the problem. I turned it off and started it again but I do t know if I should keep driving. The dealer says I can’t get the recall done yet. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Hesitattaion/dead pedal when accelerating from a stop. Happens often off and on | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | POWER TRAIN | There is a significant lag on acceleration when coming to a slow stop. Best way to describe it...California rolling to a stop sign and when you want to go, it delays and then suddenly goes. And if you’re in any traffic heavy environment, it always seems to lag you harder than expected, then suddenly surges. It seems to always surprise you even though you’ve been experiencing it so many times already. I’ve found driving other vehicles gets me into trouble now, too. My daily driver is this Tundra, and I try to consciously adjust for the lag. When I get into any other vehicle it responds appropriately and, well, my expected lag isn’t there and I accelerate faster than usual and has also almost caused a collision, such as turning left into traffic, trying to time it just right between oncoming vehicles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Major throttle response issues. Long delay when pressing accelerator, and when under heavy acceleration, if you let off the gas because of an obstacle, the truck continues to apply propulsion. Both issues could create an unsafe situation or cause a collision | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | ENGINE | This is a safety engine recall identified by the manufacturer. I have taken the truck to the dealer for remediation. At this point they do not have a date for correction. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel became firm, and the vehicle was difficult to steer while turning to the left or the right. In addition, the vehicle had experienced a stall. The contact stated that the fire alert message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the engine was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the message was occasionally illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 48,000 |
| Feb 2025 | ENGINE | I received a recall notice for my 22 tundra for the engine replacement. I scheduled the service and the dealers wanted to charge me doing the engine swap. They stated that due to me having a lift kit (which I had years prior to this recall) that they couldn’t do the engine swap without removing the radiator and other front end pieces or removing the body from the frame which they stated would cost me thousands of dollars. I’m trying to understand why would I have to pay for a mishap on Toyota ‘s part with the engine recall remedy that came about 3 years after my truck and me getting a lift kit installed. Why should I have to pay thousands of dollars for something that I was unaware would need to be done years later after purchasing. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The fuel gauge sometimes does not read properly. It's happened a few times where the gauge reads inaccurate. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Tundra. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V381000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that during sudden braking, the vehicle stalled, and the engine seized. The contact stated that after shifting to park(P) and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle drove as intended. There were no warning lights illuminated, but the brake alarm sound was audible. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | 68,000 |
