Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
May 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE Complete engine failure. My wife broke down on the side of the road. Was told it was a Turbo Charger failure that then allowed coolant to get into the engine. Was further told it needs a new Turbo Charger Assembly as well as various other parts for the engine that were damaged as a result. Happened with only 39k miles on the vehicle.

Apr 2025 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Related to PE23-023. 2022 Nissan Rogue with 77,000 miles first lost heating ability and then would stall and not start. Problem was diagnosed by an ASE Certified shop/tech. Diagnostic inspection revealed 2 quarts of coolant missing and contamination in the cylinders. To start the recommendation was to replace the EGR Cooler and Turbo, after reviewing similar complaints, I have chosen not to do the repairs as it doesn't sounds like it will fix the root cause and I am not inclined to replace the motor, turbo, Egr etc only for this to occur again. I plan to trade out of this vehicle at a significant financial loss and replace it to ensure the safety of my family. I would like to be a part of the investigation, if in the future Nissan is held accountable for this engineering failure I may be able to recoup some of my financial hardship.

Apr 2025 SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 75-80 MPH, the vehicle decelerated unintendedly to 40 MPH. The contact was able to drive 20 MPH to the dealer, where the battery was replaced; however, the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where an unknown repair was performed; however, the failure recurred. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, where the failure was linked to the engine. An unknown repair was performed; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly decelerated to 30 MPH. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to Landers Nissan (371 Goodman Rd E, Southaven, MS 38671). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Apr 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Our vehicle stalled once while idle at an ATM. Upon restart we brought it to our local mechanic for investigation, they diagnosed the issue as a Turbo Sensor problem costing about $700. They recommended bringing it to Nissan for further review rather than charge us for the repair. We picked up the vehicle the next day and brought it to our local Nissan dealership where they confirmed it was in face the turbo causing the issue. After discovering this and quoting us a repair of $7,200 they did a pressure test overnight only to discover there was coolant leaking into the engine and that a new block will now need to be installed for the vehicle to work. The new cost is $11,500 to repair. The vehicle is a 2022 Nissan Rogue that we are the only owners with regular maintenance. When we dropped off the vehicle at both locations there was no check engine light on and there were no signs of engine failure. The Sales Manager went to check the vehicle and confirmed the engine no longer works.

Apr 2025 LANE DEPARTURE,BACK OVER PREVENTION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The OK button on the steering wheel collapsed in causing the dash menus to choose random settings and turn them on or off. In the dash selection, controlled with this, is the crash detection on the vehicle, causing the menu to cycle through and turn off and on these settings also. There’s blind spot, alarms, lane departure, driver assistance, and backup sensors. There’s vehicle’s safety features are controlled in the dash menus. The cruise control button is also sticking resulting in the cars speed to change whenever. This is a known issue with Nissan but still refuse to do anything about it after the bumper to bumper warranty period is over, even though it includes safety features. They also want us to pay $170 dollars just for them to say “yes the bottons are broken.” Several forums have confirmed this is a problem that Nissan is well aware of. Someone mentioned their 2023 went through 3 steering wheels because of this issue and it was within the warranty period, so Nissan replaced the steering wheels (you can’t just replace the button modules).

Apr 2025 STEERING buttons such as the selector wheel on the left side of the steering wheel stick and it keeps wanting to cycle through settings because of it. There is no way to pop it back out, and it remains stuck. From reading online many people have had this issue and the only thing Nissan will do is offer to supply you with a new steering wheel. One person has a 2023 and they are on their third or fourth steering wheel because of this issue and Nissan will do nothing to fix it. it is ridiculous that cars this now have this problem and people keep having to pay for out-of-pocket. We are shortly outside of our warranty and are stuck dealing with this now.

Feb 2025 ENGINE I was driving and began hearing knocking sounds from under the hood. The car began dragging, so I was afraid to go at any speed over 25 or 30. I was almost home and it was night, so I resolved to go to the mechanic by my house the next morning. When I set out to go to the repair shop, the car was knocking louder, and I did not go more than a mile before the car stalled at a stoplight. It shuddered and then cut off. I tried to restart it, but it kept coming on and going off right after. I was in the turning lane, and had on my hazard lights, but several motorists still came up close behind me and honked their horns for me to move. This happened about a dozen times before the tow truck arrived. One man came up beside me, yelling and making gestures (I kept my window up and ignored him). I called AAA and was towed about a mile to the shop. The shop owner checked the oil to see if I had run out of oil - I had not. He then said to have it towed to Nissan because it was under warranty and the “engine is done.” He said that due to the sounds he heard coming from the engine. Days later (it was Saturday, and Nissan was not open Saturday or Sunday) I had it towed to Nissan and they have yet to diagnose the problem, after several days.

Jan 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE I have had significant problems with this car. Within the first month, I had to replace the battery. In September 2024 the car went from 70 mph to 40 mph with no warning and then the engine malfunction lights came on. It was supposedly fixed by Jeff Wyler Nissan Colerain. In October of 2024 the exact same thing occurred. We went from 70 mph to 40 mph and were stranded for hours yet again. Jeff Wyler Nissan Eastgate supposedly fixed the problem this time with new electrical components. Most recently, in December of 2024, the exact thing occurred AGAIN. We went from 70 to 40 and had to have the car towed for the third time in three months and the fourth time in 2 years. It is currently at Jeff Wyler Eastgate again - supposedly waiting on a temperature component - which they think is the engine problem. All of these incidences occurred on a highway and could have had devastating consequences.

Dec 2024 ENGINE On December 14. 2024 at approximately 8:45pm, as I was going up hill, my RPMS shot up to 5,000 RPMs and the rogue began to decelerate. After the RPMs dropped, Engine Malfunction, Speeds Reduced appeared on the dashboard. I found a location to stop off the highway. When I popped the hood, there was oil everywhere, the dipstick had shot out and oil was all over the hood, and the car had a strong pungent smell like burnt gun powder from the exhaust. The car will not start as the engine has blown. Mileage at the time is 38,963. Prior to this, the Check engine light would come on intermittently. It came on again at approximately 8:40pm as I was driving a 28 mile drive home. Since it’s the weekend, I will be calling Nissan Monday morning.

Dec 2024 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE 3/25/2023 784 miles and 12 days after purchasing the vehicle The throttle got stuck, cruise was on but not activated, was going 100mgh, hit the brakes, slowed the speed, every time I took my foot off the brake, I was doing 90-100mph. I hit the brakes 5-7 times to try to cancel the cruise even though it was was set. It said "Activate" so it was not on. Then after hitting the brakes repeatedly, I heard a loud kerplunk (metal on metal) sound in the engine behind the brake pedal, and it shut off and drove normally afterwards. 3/30/2023 I accelerated to get on I35 and RPM stuck at 3200 and would not shift in sport mode; I changed to Standard mode and the RPMs dropped to 2000-2100; the engine revved up loud in sport mode. Female Service Manager from Burleson Nissan was in the car at the time of the event. This has happened 3 more times since owning this vehicle. At the advice of my lemon law attorney, I am reporting them separately.

Nov 2024 ENGINE Engine failure at 38,000 miles. Started with a Loss of proper acceleration. Stalled out at stop lights. Failure to start. Vapors coming out of exhaust. Getting too hot. And overheating. These symptoms lasted 2 days before check engine light came on. Leaving me stopped in heavy traffic a few times. And unable to accelerate when I needed to. Dealership is putting in a new engine. Engine is under warranty. However I do not feel safe. Also the gears have slipped out of automatic drive and into 1st gear sporadically while driving. Forcing me to pull over and put the car in park turn off the engine and back on before putting it back in drive to proceed. (I do not know how to drive standard or use my paddles.) This has happened about 4 times since owning the vehicle.

Nov 2024 VISIBILITY The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH with the A/C unit set to 70 degrees, she observed a loud bang emanating from the roof of the vehicle. The contact opened the sunroof visor and noticed the glass sunroof was missing. Simultaneously that contact glanced in her rearview mirror and observed glass shards falling from the roof of the vehicle on incoming traffic. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and inspected. The vehicle was taken to a collision center where it was determined that the sunroof needed to be replaced after exploding and shards of glass blew under the rubber strip that holds the panoramic glass in. Additionally, the collision center rep stated that the hood, liftgate, and side doors sustained minor damage from the shards. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,614.

Oct 2024 STEERING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE Car engine light came on and the vehicle automatically slowed itself down to 20 mph as I was in a 45 mph zone, with multiple traffic behind me. No warning!! A hazard sign lit and the MIL lit up, saying there is an emissions control system malfunction and to immediately take the car to a repair station. NissanConnect also sent me a text at 5:12 Saturday night, all repair stations closed. This was very dangerous and the system should not have taken over complete control of the car at that very instant, leaving me completely unable to control the car. It was out of the blue, and I’m still shaking.

Oct 2024 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM My 2022 Nissan Rouge S model began experiencing a strong gas smell inside the vehicle. Upon further inspection of the oil dipstick it smells heavily of gas. It has been to the dealership twice with absolutely no help or answers. It has also caused my engine oil levels to rise. I am concerned not only from a monetary stand point but more importantly from a safety standpoint i.e. engine stalls, fires etc.

Sep 2024 ENGINE CVT Low Power light came on 9/10/24. I had it at the dealer within 15 mins. On 9/12/24 I was told I need a new engine. The dealer refused to give details to me and extended the warranty on 9/16/24 as to how/what the exact issue was. The extended warranty closed the case because of this. The dealer told me they declined it and refused to repair it. He suggested that since the car is drivable, I could take it. I spoke with the extended warranty myself to see why. They stated they didn't deny it but closed it because the dealer needed to demonstrate what was wrong with the engine. The advisor eventually told me that all 3 cylinders had low compression. I requested they contact the extended warranty company and have them come again and they demonstrate that to the inspector. On 9/23/24 a request was made for another inspector to check my vehicle. 9/27/24 I called the extended warranty company to see if there was a report from the new inspector. They explained that the dealer showed them the low compression and the next step would be to break the engine down to find the source of the problem because it may not need an entire engine. I made it to the dealership a few hours later to extend my rental and get an update from the advisor. He told me the warranty company was still refusing to do the work. He suggested that since the car was drivable, I should take my vehicle. His only suggestion was to drop the oil pan and see if any metal fell out. This would've been $170-$200. I asked if that would resolve the issues with my vehicle. He stated not necessarily. On 9/27/24 around 4 PM, I requested to have my car moved to the front of the dealership because I had a tow truck on the way. He refused to have the vehicle moved. In the close-out ticket, he stated that the warranty company and customer denied repairs. which is false. No lights/messages ever came on. When I'd bring it for a service, I'd explain it was loud and vibrating. They'd always tell me everything was fine.
