Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Dec 2024 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE 3/25/2023 784 miles and 12 days after purchasing the vehicle The throttle got stuck, cruise was on but not activated, was going 100mgh, hit the brakes, slowed the speed, every time I took my foot off the brake, I was doing 90-100mph. I hit the brakes 5-7 times to try to cancel the cruise even though it was was set. It said "Activate" so it was not on. Then after hitting the brakes repeatedly, I heard a loud kerplunk (metal on metal) sound in the engine behind the brake pedal, and it shut off and drove normally afterwards. 3/30/2023 I accelerated to get on I35 and RPM stuck at 3200 and would not shift in sport mode; I changed to Standard mode and the RPMs dropped to 2000-2100; the engine revved up loud in sport mode. Female Service Manager from Burleson Nissan was in the car at the time of the event. This has happened 3 more times since owning this vehicle. At the advice of my lemon law attorney, I am reporting them separately.

Nov 2024 ENGINE Engine failure at 38,000 miles. Started with a Loss of proper acceleration. Stalled out at stop lights. Failure to start. Vapors coming out of exhaust. Getting too hot. And overheating. These symptoms lasted 2 days before check engine light came on. Leaving me stopped in heavy traffic a few times. And unable to accelerate when I needed to. Dealership is putting in a new engine. Engine is under warranty. However I do not feel safe. Also the gears have slipped out of automatic drive and into 1st gear sporadically while driving. Forcing me to pull over and put the car in park turn off the engine and back on before putting it back in drive to proceed. (I do not know how to drive standard or use my paddles.) This has happened about 4 times since owning the vehicle.

Nov 2024 VISIBILITY The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH with the A/C unit set to 70 degrees, she observed a loud bang emanating from the roof of the vehicle. The contact opened the sunroof visor and noticed the glass sunroof was missing. Simultaneously that contact glanced in her rearview mirror and observed glass shards falling from the roof of the vehicle on incoming traffic. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and inspected. The vehicle was taken to a collision center where it was determined that the sunroof needed to be replaced after exploding and shards of glass blew under the rubber strip that holds the panoramic glass in. Additionally, the collision center rep stated that the hood, liftgate, and side doors sustained minor damage from the shards. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,614.

Oct 2024 STEERING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE Car engine light came on and the vehicle automatically slowed itself down to 20 mph as I was in a 45 mph zone, with multiple traffic behind me. No warning!! A hazard sign lit and the MIL lit up, saying there is an emissions control system malfunction and to immediately take the car to a repair station. NissanConnect also sent me a text at 5:12 Saturday night, all repair stations closed. This was very dangerous and the system should not have taken over complete control of the car at that very instant, leaving me completely unable to control the car. It was out of the blue, and I’m still shaking.

Oct 2024 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM My 2022 Nissan Rouge S model began experiencing a strong gas smell inside the vehicle. Upon further inspection of the oil dipstick it smells heavily of gas. It has been to the dealership twice with absolutely no help or answers. It has also caused my engine oil levels to rise. I am concerned not only from a monetary stand point but more importantly from a safety standpoint i.e. engine stalls, fires etc.

Sep 2024 ENGINE CVT Low Power light came on 9/10/24. I had it at the dealer within 15 mins. On 9/12/24 I was told I need a new engine. The dealer refused to give details to me and extended the warranty on 9/16/24 as to how/what the exact issue was. The extended warranty closed the case because of this. The dealer told me they declined it and refused to repair it. He suggested that since the car is drivable, I could take it. I spoke with the extended warranty myself to see why. They stated they didn't deny it but closed it because the dealer needed to demonstrate what was wrong with the engine. The advisor eventually told me that all 3 cylinders had low compression. I requested they contact the extended warranty company and have them come again and they demonstrate that to the inspector. On 9/23/24 a request was made for another inspector to check my vehicle. 9/27/24 I called the extended warranty company to see if there was a report from the new inspector. They explained that the dealer showed them the low compression and the next step would be to break the engine down to find the source of the problem because it may not need an entire engine. I made it to the dealership a few hours later to extend my rental and get an update from the advisor. He told me the warranty company was still refusing to do the work. He suggested that since the car was drivable, I should take my vehicle. His only suggestion was to drop the oil pan and see if any metal fell out. This would've been $170-$200. I asked if that would resolve the issues with my vehicle. He stated not necessarily. On 9/27/24 around 4 PM, I requested to have my car moved to the front of the dealership because I had a tow truck on the way. He refused to have the vehicle moved. In the close-out ticket, he stated that the warranty company and customer denied repairs. which is false. No lights/messages ever came on. When I'd bring it for a service, I'd explain it was loud and vibrating. They'd always tell me everything was fine.

Sep 2024 STRUCTURE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I had to have the bars on top of my vehicle replaced due to a flapping noise. The dealership told me that the bars were broken. After replacing the bars, the roof began to leak and now the liner on the a-pillar has a water stain on it. The radio has static and my phone has little to no service. Due to everything being wet. If the moisture gets on wires if could cause a fire. There’s also strong gas fumes that leak from the tank and inside the cabin smells terrible for several days. I have to ride with the windows down. My dealership knows of this, but tells me the warranty is up. I have 52,000 miles on my vehicle now.

Sep 2024 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that after an oil change, the technician informed the contact that the metal drain plug on the oil pan had been over tightened, and while removing the oil drain plug, the entire threaded area of the oil pan fractured. The contact stated that the oil pan was made of plastic. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to a dealer to replace the oil pan. The contact stated that the replacement oil pan was also made of plastic. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was a common failure with the plastic oil pans. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Aug 2024 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE I recently experienced “safe mode” in my 2022 Nissan Rogue while driving on the highway at 80mph. My car suddenly lost power and would not accelerate or brake. I had to have my vehicle towed off the side of the highway as it was not drivable. My car is currently under diagnostic at Nissan where they are unable to reproduce the error codes. They notified me of $4,000 in repairs that would be covered by Nissan but they are unsure that will fix the problem. My car is knocking while driving, vibrating upon attempt of acceleration and shuttering at idle.

Aug 2024 STEERING,POWER TRAIN The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 25 MPH, there was a popping sound detected. The vehicle veered to the left, lost control, and crashed into an unknown Jeep. The warning system failure message was displayed. The vehicle failed to shift out of gear. The contact noticed that the tire was detached from the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Action Number PE24020 (steering). The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who determined that the failure was due to the crash and impact. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the front inner tie rod needed to be replaced. The mechanic informed him there was no warranty coverage. A police report was filed. There were no reported injuries, air bag deployment, or fire. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 36,500.

Aug 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I purchased my 22 Rogue Feb 22 brand new. First Issue: January 2023(2600 miles), engine oil drain pan had to be replaced. Apparently, it broke during oil change at dealership. I've heard others complain about the same thing. Second issue, 6500 miles (June 2024): *suv begun driving weird. While driving the vehicle jerks, shudders, and acts like it is going to lose power. Losing power / shuddering while driving can be a danger to myself or others driving around me if suv unexpectedly reduces in speed. This happens during both high and low speeds. *Suv also stalls when trying to accelerate from a complete stop. Not sure if this was related to the software update (recall) I done at the dealership June 24, but issue 2 started immediately afterwards. Suv was taken to dealership when I started experiencing issue 2. Dealership had vehicle for 2 weeks, but return vehicle and said nothing was wrong. They said the Nissan Engineer that came out found no issues as well. They did mention the Turbo lagging, but sd that's normal. Fast forward, 6 weeks later (Aug 24), returned suv to dealership because performance is worse AND now engine light is on. Dealership advised light is bcz fuel pump needs to be replaced, but stated different than the current fuel pump recall on some 22 Rogues. How is this possible? Based on my mileage, my car is still nearly brand new. Vehicle is at dealership now pending repairs.

Aug 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The problem started 3 months after purchase. It has a very loud noise that comes from the engine i think. It has been inspected by two different dealerships. Both insisted the noise was normal. After going more than 10 times to the dealership where i purchased my Rogue, i called nissan directly and open an investigation. Nissan sent an engineer and he said that the noise was weird but he didnt know what was going on. He also said that he was going to see if he could get me a discount for a new car. But nissan said no. I have a case number with nissan in case this is needed. This has been an issue that has been going on for two years now. Two years!! Then last month or so the check engine has been turning on and off. Today I went to make the inspection and the Rogue did not pass. And they told me the engine has fuel. After going to the inspection place the suv stopped working. It did not start. Had to call the dealership and I talked to person that has been checking the suv for the last two years and he said to take it to them. And I had to tow my Rogue to the dealership. It has been a very stressful experience and no one seems to care about this issue. My health and my safety is on the line. I don’t know what else to do or who to talk to. I hope you guys help. Thank you.

Aug 2024 LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I live in Melbourne Florida, when going to pick up the wife I turn on the ADAS as I was leaving the house and I got this message. Unavailable Camera Temperature High accompanied by the crash sign signal. This not only negated the blind spot warning, forward collision warning, lane departure warning but also then back-up camera. Also the sun also blocks the vision of the back-up camera Dealer said it was in the sun to long, but when I told him the collision icon was on he said to make an appointment to have it looked at. Appointment is August 10. Question: If these are safety devises shouldn't the work all the time.

Jul 2024 ENGINE DRIVING ON A LOCAL FREEWAY AT THE STATE LIMIT 70 MPH. I PASSED AN 18-WHEELER AND PROCEEDED TO ENTER THE RIGHT LANE AFTER PASSING THE TRUCK. ONCE IN THE RIGHT LANE THE POWER REDUCED/ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT/ SERVICE LIGHT APPEARED. THIS WAS THE FIRST ENGINE LIGHTS TO APPEAR SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE WITH 12000 MILES ON IT. MY RATE OF SPEED WAS DRAMATICALLY REDUCED CAUSING THE 18 WHEELER I HAD JUST PASSED TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES AND FORCING ME OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID AN ALL-OUT COLLISION. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. I WAS TOLD A SEAL FAILED ON THE WATER CONTROL VALVE CAUSING THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION. THE SEAL WAS REPLACED AND VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME. ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP, AFTER THE WATER CONTROL VALVE REPAIR, THE VEHICLE STALLED ENTERING A HIGHWAY IN THE CENTER LANE! FOR THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN A MONTH, MY LIFE AND UNSUSPECTING OTHER TRAVELLERS' LIVES WERE PLACED IN DANGER DUE TO THE MALFUNCTIONING VEHICLE/ENGINE. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART THE VEHICLE AND MAKE IT HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT SITS.
