| Date | Component | Summary | Severity | Mileage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jun 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | Around 28,000 miles vehicle would exhibit odd shifting characteristics while transmission fluids were still coming up to temperature. Car surges forward while coasting before coming to a stop. Dealership updated TCM software but car still lurches forward while downshifting before a stop. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | SEATS | My Toddler was seated (in the car seat that was buckled into ) the second row bucket seat. While driving the vehicle we hit a bump in the road which then launched the back passenger seat up and forward pinning my child between the two seats. His face smashed into the front passenger seat headrest which caused forced injury to his head. The EZ seat button could not have been reached by my child due to them being in a car seat. This has been reported to the manufacture of Nissan. There are no warnings for this feature. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES | Rear brakes on Nissan Pathfinder are wearing unusually fast resulting in brakes failing and vehicle failing to stop. I have now had to pay to replace the rear brakes twice in less than 30k miles. Brakes should last 30-50k miles. Also I have not had to replace the front brakes once yet. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The rear backup camera fails to display the rear camera image when in reverse. Upon starting the vehicle and selecting reverse, the camera first displays the reverse camera image, when vehicle is in motion and actively reversing the camera display goes black, temporary failing to display any picture. After approximately 2 seconds, the picture returns. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The federally required rear view camera systems fails while in reverse and activity in motion, potentially failing to capture obstacles or people while reversing. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle was brought into a dealer who could not reproduce the problem. The issue occurs at an unpredictable frequency and not upon every startup or reversing cycle. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The only symptoms is that of the failure itself described above, no other indications leading up to or following the failure present. This issue has been occuring since purchase, new, from a dealership. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | I have had 2 major and one minor incident with my 2022 Pathfinder. I bought it certified preowned Jan 2023 with 21k miles. At 23k miles- end of the same month it was purchased- the vehicle decelerated from 75mph to 35mph on the interstate. The dealership sent a towing truck to pick it up next day and they diagnosed the problem to be a dead battery- the lights on the car remained on all night but if it was the battery then the car would have not even been on. Dealership failed to dig deeper. At 57k miles on May 3rd 2024 after being at the public park for an hour with my daughter the car would not start, warning lights were on the screen such as a malfunction warning. The dealership sent a tow truck and they kept the car for 3 days. We picked it up on a Monday and on Friday May 10th while driving on the interstate, the car decelerated from 75mph to almost nothing, I barely made it off of the exit. They towed it once again and this time we were told the issue was a bad mass airflow sensor. It was replaced and a week later we got another malfunction warning while parked on a sunny day. Currently in arbitration with Nissan. They fail to recognize this is a safety issue and no matter what they say the "cause" is, the same issue keeps happening on the interstate. Nissan is not taking it seriously and they want to give me 3,500 for the "inconvenience" I keep telling them I do not feel safe in this vehicle. I was told the car is outside Lemon Law timeframe. I brought up other NHTSA complaints that are like mine and still haven't heard from them, it has been 5 days. I would like for this safety concern to be taken seriously. It has put me and my family in danger as well as others. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES | It appears the rear brake pads degrade over a short amount of usage. My vehicle currently has approximately 28,000 miles and I have had to replace the rear pads twice. Once at 13k miles and another at 27,500 miles. Car vibrates violently upon heavy braking. This seems to be a known issue with the manufacturer; however, no recalls have been issued. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | On numerous occasions while cruising at highway speeds ability to accelerate disengages. There is no ability to accelerate and RPMs drop, car loses speed until transmission and acceleration re-engages. When the car does this you are unable to shift gears to attempt to engage and the vehicle still shows as though it is in drive. Vehicle has gone to dealer service numerous times and they are unable to replicate the issue and allege that there are no “codes” in the computer. They are reluctant to dive deeper into the issue despite the fact that this is a safety issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Water is leaking from my light fixture. Nissan suspected it to be the sunroof. Unfortunately the component that has failed/malfunctioned is unknown. It was suspected to be the sunroof. Nissan has failed to fix the issue multiple times. My safety as well as others are at risk for possible shock or getting electrocuted with water leaking by enclosed wires. The issue was confirmed by Nissan Service Center. I did get Nissan Consumer Affairs involved, and they were absolutely no help. I'm paying for a vehicle that has a manufacturer's issue but Nissan refusals to fix it. But they can't fix it because they don't know what is causing the issue. I have provided a full detail in the attached documents | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES | The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer for a service appointment, the contact was informed that the rear brakes needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that when the front brakes were applied, the rear brakes constantly made contact with the front brakes which caused the rear brakes to wear down, unusually faster. Additionally, the contact stated that the dealer agreed that the failure was due to a manufacturer defect within the design of the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the repair fee for the rear brake replacement was refunded. The failure mileage was approximately 30,517. The VIN was unavailable. | Crash: No Fire: No | 30,517 |
| Mar 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Car has been shifting to neutral or parking randomly. Will stop in the middle of the road. Very dangerous when driving and put me, my family and others at risk | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | WHEELS,SERVICE BRAKES | At 24,000 miles my rear brakes already needs replacing but the front brakes pads are in great condition. All the tires on the outside almost smooth. The rest of the tires inside and center have plenty treads | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES | Rear brakes prematurely failing via severely increased wear in the the 20k mile range. Confirmed by two dealers. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | SEATS | The drivers side heated seat has stopped working. My car is no longer under warranty so I decided to research this. When researching this topic, A LOT of other people have discussed having the same exact issue with the same exact seat. In fact, there are people who have discussed having their heated seat fixed and even THAT stops working. I do not want to spend money on an issue that is a consistent problem, on top of being a issue after being fixed. This issue began happening around 37,000 miles, right after my warranty expired. There were no warning signs. I also worry with it being a faulty product, will the electrical component of it catch fire. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | When refueling, gas pump stops prematurely before reaching full. Has happened on multiple occasions and and different gas stations. Vehicle only has 19k miles. I brought the vehicle into a Nissan dealership for further diagnosis but they could not identify the cause of the issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | WHEELS,SERVICE BRAKES | I have tried working with the dealer and Nissan on this issue, with no success. I don't know where else to turn because searching forums there are hundreds of posts from other Pathfinder owners reporting the same defects in their vehicles. I filed a complaint with Nissan Consumer affairs and they insist my issue is simply wear and tear of the vehicle, which is not acceptable. My 2022 Nissan Pathfinder, as well as hundreds others report that their vehicle are requiring new brakes as well as new tires within 20,000 miles of purchasing the vehicle brand new. When my dealer notified me of the issue I questioned them, to which they also recognized it wasn't right and something has been wrong since the re-design of this vehicle. They also said they can't do anything except recommend replacement, it has to be up to Nissan to acknowledge they have something faulty in the design or mechanics that is causing these components to go bad well below manufacturer specs. When contacting Nissan Consumer Affairs I attempted to explain to them that this wasn't normal, these systems should not be replaced within 20,000 miles of a new purchase. They however discounted me and said it was simple wear and tear, that's how it is. I find it hard to believe myself and hundreds of others who have purchased these vehicles should have to pay for these replacements when it's clearly a design or mechanical flaw from Nissan. I know this may not be the right department to go to, but I'm not sure where else to turn for help in getting Nissan to publicly acknowledge this. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Collision avoidance system engaged without warning forcibly stopping vehicle in the middle of highway traffic with no obstructions in front of vehicle. Rear Brake pads also wearing out at less than 30k miles. Pads went from 7mm to 2mm thickness between 5k mile oil change intervals. This lead to extreme rotor damage and replacement of rotors and pads. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | ENGINE | The car showed engine check light and auto start error. I took it to the dealer (Nissan bertera Auburn) and the said one of the ground wires had corrosion and they had fixed issue. i paid for the fix. After driving for 2 miles error came back. Dealer asked me to drive back. When I got back they said technicians are done for the day and I should go to nearest dealer the following day. Car is 22675 miles and still under warranty | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Last Nov.10 after my oil change to Nissan Van nuys Dealership within less than a mile, i got terrible experience,The Car was stop in the middle of the road and a red Solid oil pressure light show up on dashboard and The Gear shift from Drive to Neutral and get towed and bring back to dealer and after 4 days i pick up my car and now i can drive it again! But after couple of days and weeks? While i'm driving on freeway, Check engine light, AEB light, and other orange light Shows up on dashboard, i get scared again because it losses power and then i stop slowly on the Curb and read the nissan pathfinder manual and turn off and turn on the engine? Before i bring it again to the dealership i try to Diagnose by myself using OBDII FIXD with and Apple App to know what is the code and why there was check engine light and AEB light and, etc.? It shOws Major driving impact -Control Module P061B-Engine,Torque management system P2637-Engine, Can't measure Air flow P0101-Engine? P0507-Idle air control-engine, and many more? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The automatic collision breaking system light just came on. I turned it off and waited a while. I was fine for two days then came back on and stayed on. Took it to the dealer and they said I must have hit something because the sensors were not aligned. I explained I had hit nothing. There is no damage at all to the bumper. No accident reports no damage nothing but they insisted I “must have hit something.” Light when off again for about a day then came back on. Radio turns off and on randomly. Had an engine overheating after I turned the car on a 56 degree day. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | Upon routine service at 15,393 miles I was told that my rear brakes and rotors needed replacement. The service advisor stated that they are at a 2 and failed the multi-point inspection. I brought the vehicle to an independent shop and they confirmed the rear brakes needed immediate replacement. Upon further research, this seems to be a pattern for the 2022 Pathfinder with many people needing to replace rear brakes at a very low mileage. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | SEATS | While I was driving my toddler who was in the 3rd row pushed the bottom located at the back of the 2nd row seat. The seat came foward with my baby who was in his carseat causing him to come foward at a really high speed (since the seat moves foward really fast and with impulse) causing him to hit his head and almost causing me to crash. I had to stop in the middle of where I was driving since my baby was screaming and crying and couldn't breath since he was being squished by the seat. The seat is very heavy and hard to push back in case of an emergency from someone sitting in the back row. You have to actually get down to be able to put it back in it's place. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | I AM EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE GAS PEDAL GETTING STUCK AND I HAVE TO MANUALLY BEND DOWN AND PULL IT UP WITH MY HAND. I HAVE BIN GOING BACK AND FOURTH WITH NISSAN FOR A YEAR NOW. I HAVE VIDEOS TO SHOW THE PROOF. I HAVE 2 KIDS TO DRIVE IN MY CAR. I AM REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY IN THE CAR. I ALMOST CRASHED A FEW TIMES. I REACHED OUT TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND THEY ARE STATING THAT I SHOULD CHANGE OUT THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE CAR. I CANNOT FINANCIALLY AFFORD THAT AND IT ISNT FAIR TO ME . I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW AND STARTED HAVING THIS ISSUE 3 MONTHS AFTER HAVING THE CAR. I HAVE BIN COMMUNICATING WITH NISSAN EVER SINCE. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Issue I have is when its raining - any water in the doors is to to drain out the 4 drain holes at the bottom of the doors. On my 2022 Pathfinder it is coming out the 4 drain holes but also coming out from behind the inside door panels and all 4 doors causing the inside liner/insulation to get wet. If you see water drops on the black plastic piece in the kick plates /doorways then you have an issue. Is this normal and will this cause issues with mold and smell? It seems the issue is the weather stripe that runs under the inside door panels to the top of the door is not making proper contact with the door frame in front of the splash guard which there is an opening from the splash guard which is also a bad design which hold lots of water and when traveling at highway speeds 60+ and the splash guard get fully it start to splash and go thru the opening and the weather-strip is is a complete seal and with the wind water is penetrating thru and wetting the inside door panels. In addition the front passenger also starts with a gurgling sound and it seems water and air are getting trapped due to the splash guard design and weather-strip not providing a good enough seal causing it to make a gurgling sound. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | POWER TRAIN,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | While driving with the cruise control activated and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) turned on and also the ProPilot Assist and Speed Adjust by Route turned on, I have been on the highway (Speed limit 100km/h) and the vehicle reads the speed limit sign on the exit ramp (20km/h) and automatically reduces my speed even though I am not on the exit ramp. I have almost been hit from behind due to that sudden slow down. I have now turned some of those systems off until they come up with a software fix, very dangerous. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | Car has 18500 miles and dealership told me the rear brake pads were at 4 mm. No driving issues. Just that they wore out very quickly. Had to have them replaced | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
