Jan 2025 STEERING,SUSPENSION The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds and driving over a bump in the roadway or a pothole, the vehicle experienced a death wobble. No warning light was illuminated. The contact regained control of the vehicle and continued driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was inspected by a technician who noticed an abnormal play in the steering wheel. Jan 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER On [XXX] I bought a 2022 Jeep wrangler 392 from Ron Tonkin Jeep in Milwaukie, OR. It was certified pre owned and still under full manufacturer warranty. I drove the car for one day then parked it at Portland airport before flying to Chicago. A week later while still out of town, I received a call from the parking lot manager that my car spontaneously caught on fire last night and violently burned also damaging 3 cars near it. The fire department came and put out the fire and said the fire was caused by “mechanical failure, malfunction”. Jeep has refused to cover this claim because they said the cause of the fire cannot be determined. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Dec 2024 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL The vehicle tends to lurch/jerk forward during various driving scenarios. The most frightening is when you are approaching a stop light/sign, and there is a car in front of you when this happens. I have had several experiences of almost hitting the vehicle at the light/stop sign.

Dec 2024 STEERING 2022 Jeep 4xe Rubicon, 13,000 Miles - At about 5,000 miles I first noticed an occasional wobble in the front end at speeds around 50mph or above. The wobble has progressively gotten worse and at around 9,000 miles has developed into a full blown "death wobble". At 60mph or above it is most likely to happen. When is does happen it is started by a small bump or depression (smaller than a pothole will do it) the front end of the vehicle shakes violently and the only way to stop it is to let my foot off of the gas and let it coast. At around 40mph it will stop. Hitting the brakes increases the shaking. This is scary and unpleasant and causes confusion to drivers who are behind as I try to make my way to the side of the road. I took it to the dealership and they balanced the tires and charged me $120.00. This improved it for about 2 weeks and then the wobble returned just as before.

Dec 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE Dec 23 took mine in for recall service. Had no issues prior to having this done. Pick up the same day. Was told passed the drive test. Drove to work Dec 24th (26 miles round trip) no issues. Did not drive on Christmas. Placed it to charge that night, for drive to work the 26th. Noticed it did not charge completely. On the way in to work service light came on. Time to leave work, it would not start. Dash had the service charging station. Waited a few minutes. Then it did finally start. Tried to place it in esave. It would not go. Regeneration went off. It drove horrible. Slow acceleration, especially from a complete stop. Got it home and had it towed to a different dealership that had performed the update. Was told a module is bad and they are keeping it until the 30th to check for other issues. They said as a precaution to ensure I was safe on the road. Terrifying experience.

Dec 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER I am filing a complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall (NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V720000) for my 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The vehicle has experienced stalling and a significant loss of engine power while driving, creating a serious safety hazard. These issues were first noticed in October 2024 and the vehicle has become unsafe to drive as a result. I previously submitted a complaint to the NHTSA in October 2024, but the issue remains unresolved. Following the recall advisory, I brought my vehicle to an authorized dealership on November 26, 2024, where I was informed that no available fix exists for this recall issue, and the dealership could not provide a timeline for when a remedy would be available. The malfunction involves the high-voltage battery pack software, which is part of the recall remedy. However, this update has not been applied to my vehicle, and the ongoing performance degradation continues to put my safety at risk. The recall explicitly mentions the potential for fire and injury, which heightens my concern regarding the unresolved issue. Safety Risk: The stalling and loss of power while driving creates an immediate danger to my safety and that of others on the road. The vehicle is no longer reliable or safe to drive under these conditions. Dealer Confirmation: The problem has been confirmed by the dealership, but no remedy has been provided, and no repair timeline has been given. Symptoms: Prior to the failure, no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms were present, and the issue emerged suddenly while driving. Resolution Requested: I request an investigation into Chrysler’s failure to resolve this recall in a timely manner. I urge the NHTSA to take corrective action to ensure that the necessary repairs are made promptly to avoid further risk to my safety and the safety of others.

Dec 2024 STEERING,SUSPENSION While driving over 50mph, I encountered issues with stablization where the steering wheel would violently shift left and right, and the vehicles front tires were wobbling uncontrollably until lowering speeds below 30mph. After the dealer replaced the steering damper, I ran into this problem again but much worse as I was driving 70mph on the Interstate. After almost losing control multiple times I was able to take back roads home. This is a huge safety issue as I had my baby in the vehicle and the issue is still occurring. Upon looking under the vehicle I noticed the steering damper free floating and the bolt was missing for the wheel. I'm not sure if the bolt assembly is bent but it appears the replacement by the dealer is inadequate.

Dec 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Wife was going to work. Started to notice difference in the feel of the drive. Then the check engine light came on. When she started to accelerate the vehicle jerks. When the vehicle is at a stop then accelerates the it takes about 5 seconds for the car to start moving. Today the vehicle turns on but can’t switch gears to put it in reverse or drive. Vehicle is a paper wait and the earliest time I can take in to a certified mechanic is 1 month. I’ve had multiple issues with this car. Death wobble, electric recalls. And a recall that stated part not available park your car not in your garage and don’t charge your hybrid…. How can this car be allowed on the streets with this many issues under 2 years

Dec 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Jeep wrangler has 46k miles, 2 years, but battery died while car was running. Would not start once car engine shut down. I was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection and was out ant risk of an collision. Upon running diagnostics, battery is fully drained and alternator is not starting. Online forms suggest it could be the alternative battery, charging the start/stop function, that died and drained the charge from the main battery. Prior to the incident, there was a low voltage warning which got worse over 2 days, until ultimately it died completely.

Nov 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER On Nov 16, 2024 I was driving and turned a corner as soon as I did the engine light and another light came on with a message saying do not shift or turn off. I had it towed to Capital Jeep and they said it was my main and aux battery, a week later which was yesterday 11-29-24 the same lights and message came on, I pulled into the dealership and they said it was the green bus connecter behind the glove box, then today 11-30-24 I was driving same lights and message again, however this time I could not go passed 5 miles an hour. So now it’s towed again and sitting at the dealership

Nov 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Received a notice in October that there is a chance for the battery in the vehicle I currently own could start on fire. They stated they have no resolution for this at the time. I was informed not to fully charge it, not to park near buildings, and not to park near other vehicles. This is impossible for me to do at this time. I have HOA’s where I am renting that I cannot park in the street. I also have children that I do not want in this vehicle or driving this vehicle if there is such a serious malfunction that could happen. I am a special education teacher, and there’s no place for me to park where I work that is away from buildings, other vehicles and children. I called the dealership and had text messages with them. I have called the manufacturing number and was told I was put on another list and a person would call me in a day or two. Two weeks went by. I called again. I still have not had a case manager call me to let me know what my options are. I would like my money back and want to return this vehicle. I do not feel safe driving it. Nov 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM My 4E is currently under recall for a battery/fire issue so have been relying on gas to fill the vehicle. Recently, after pumping gas for 10-15 seconds it shuts itself off at the pump and often gas spills out from the fuel neck. Jeep has had this problem on many of their vehicles for years and it is not covered warranty. There needs to be a safety recall. Its horrible I cant charge the vehicle and now I cant put gas in it either.

Nov 2024 SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE When applying brakes at low speed (under 20mph) pedal feels soft and brakes do not engage as expected- vehicles travels further than anticipated. At times engine races and vehicle surges forward, other times ABS malfunctions, causing tires to squeal and vehicle to lurch. There is no reason for the ABS to engage when traveling under 20mph on an even, dry road. I have had other issues such as overheating, which the dealership observed, but the computer had no trouble codes for, so I would be happy to have it inspected. The vehicle surging forward when brakes are applied is a safety concern, as is unreliable braking and the ABS engaging inappropriately. I have not been to the dealer for this issue yet, I was able to document the occurrence from my dashboard cam this weekend. I have video in my dashcam with the squealing and lurching that I can't upload.
