Jul 2023 STRUCTURE Sunroof shattered while driving down the highway without impact. Drove 8.5 hours of a 9.5 hour drive and the sunroof randomly shattered. There were no bumps in the highway at the time it occurred. We were going around a slight right hand curve. The glass breaking sounding like a gunshot. Glass sharps went inside and outside the cabin of the vehicle. The dealer can’t get the vehicle in for 3 weeks to fix it. Forums show others having the same issue with 2022 models.

Jun 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Child safety locks fail more frequently than they work. At any given time the locks star making a rapid clicking sound and then a “child safety lock malfunction” message appears on the dash. I have three young children who can reach the window buttons and handles while buckled putting our safety at risk when majority of the time this safety feature malfunctions. This has been on going for months but is getting rapidly more frequent.

Jun 2023 VISIBILITY/WIPER When I use the windshield washer, the cabin is filled with fumes from the washer fluid. I have been sickened by the fumes with headache and taste of the fumes. It enters the cabin of the vehicle via the ventilation system. The dealer has thoroughly checked the ventilation system and has found nothing wrong. This is a design issue with the vehicle. The washer/ ventilation issue was addressed with the 2023 model. I was told by Hyundai Consumer Affairs Division there is nothing that can be done to resole my issue other than manually switching the ventilation by pressing the recirculation button before using the windshield washer. Hyundai Consumer Affairs Case#: 21145978. Others in the vehicle can smell the odor, but most are less sensitive to the fumes.

Jun 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Vehicle has a Hyundai dealer installed tow package. There is a recall #22v-633 (nhtsa). Vehicle can catch fire. Received a second letter stating a repair is available however dealer says manufacturer has a small wire harness on back order. Months have gone by since initial notification now.

May 2023 SEAT BELTS The seat belt latch in the third row on the drivers side does not latch. This is a 2022 Palisade.
Incident: May 2023
Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
May 2023 AIR BAGS The vehicle is equipped with an Occupant Classification System that automatically turns the air bags off for the front passenger seat, if an adult sized passenger is not detected. There is no way to override this. My significant other is a normal sized adult woman. Normally when she is seated directly on the seat, the air bag does not turn off. However, medical issues with her lower back and sciatic joint require her to sit on a padded cushion when traveling. With this cushion on the passenger seat, the air bags turn off. The concern is that if we were to experience a collision, she would not be protected with the air bags. I asked the dealer if they could reprogram this. They advised that they are not equipped to do so, and are also prohibited by law from doing so.

Apr 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Hyundai issued a recall in August 2022 for a potential fire hazard involving their vehicles equipped with a towing package. Their temporary solution was to remove a safety fuse from the system, thus rendering the towing capability unusable. I took my vehicle to the Hyundai dealership to have the recall addressed. The previously mentioned temporary solution was applied. There have been no updates and no permanent solutions applied to this issue. I contacted my dealership and was told that the dealership is not updated by Hyundai regarding a permanent solution. It has been 8 months since the recall was issued with no permanent solution offered.

Apr 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING I had a "engine overheat" warning while I was parked. I checked and noticed the coolant level was low. So, I added coolant and the warning went away. I thought it was just a one-time thing. After a week, I parked my car while I went to pick up something at the store. My mother was in the car so I left the car running. When I came back, I noticed a very strong smell of coolant and saw the "engine overheat" warning again, the car was blowing hot air. I turned off the car and opened up the hood and saw coolant liquid was all over and also on the floor. I called Hyundai roadside assistance and they picked up the car after 5 hours of waiting. The next day, I called them and was told the radiator was cracked. It's been three days. I'm still waiting for their call.

Apr 2023 LANE DEPARTURE The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated while driving 45-65 MPH with the cruise control activated, the Lane Keep Assist and Highway Drive Assist features were inoperable, causing the vehicle to fail to decelerate while turning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no error codes were retrieved. The vehicle was then taken to Ontario Hyundai (1307 Kettering Dr Unit A, Ontario, CA 91761) where it was determined that the after-market rims and tires on the vehicle caused the failure. The contact was advised to take the vehicle back to the original dealer to have the rims and tires replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they might buy back the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 150.

Apr 2023 STRUCTURE Our family was driving home and we then heard a LOUD noise coming from the car roof. Startled from the unexpected boom, as there was not a car in front of us nor debris of any kind in the lane being driven in. The windshield was free of any cracks/damage as well as the front body of the vehicle. The sunroof shattered on it's own. Luckily the sunroof cover was closed and glass did not enter the interior vehicle, a big blessing as our children were in the second and third row seats. If the sunroof interior cover was open, mutitiple children would've possibly suffered eye damage due to the trajectory of the glass shattering to the rear of the vehicle. We are deeply bothered learning that other Palisades have had similar incidents. The sunroof shattered directly in the center as confirmed in other incidents for Hyundai owners in recent Hyundai forums. As an owner, I would hope that Hyundai takes accountability and necessary safety measures to secure the well being of their customers. Our car was taken to the dealer the very next morning after the incident. Our vehicle only has 8,000 miles and the sunroof defect is not covered by the dealership warranty. The dealership stated they will not cover the sunroof defect and sent us to Hyundai corporate. Hyundai corporate got back to us after 7 days after opening a case number and just assigned a case manager. Both the dealership and Hyundai corporate are treating this incident as if this is not a sunroof defect, when it's a known Hyundai sunroof glass defect for Hyundai Palisades and other Hyundai vehicles equipped with a sunroof have had similar issues. We will not use our car insurance as this is a hazardous vehicle defect that should be covered under warranty, not by our personal insurance.

Apr 2023 STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE Was (thankfully) driving on a completely straight 2 lane highway when the collision avoidance system gave an error message to check it. My steering wheel became completely immobilized and couldn't be turned in either direction more than an inch or so. I eventually pulled off to the side of the road and restarted the car, which fixed the problem. I have since set the Memory settings for drivers 1 and 2 to omit using all of the lane minder/collision avoidance features in the hope that if they are just off entirely, the system won't malfunction and cause a wreck. Don't know what I would have done if we were on a curvy road with no breakdown lane nearby or if we were on the interstate.

Mar 2023 VISIBILITY/WIPER I bought HD Palisade 2022 SUV on Jan 2022 at KOEPPEL Hyundai dealer locating LIC NY. Suddenly, radiator fluid is leaking from left and right corner as of Mar 18,2023 and couldn't run long distance because of this. I am a Uber driver for over 7 years in NYC. This is first happened during my driving for 40 years. I called dealer and they gave mw 1 weeks waiting time for check up and no idea even they have part or not. If they don't have it, I have to wait 1month (from my friend who bought same car and same month and same dealer). Is other way to repair this matter ASAP ? As a driver, I make ends meet by weekly basis.

Mar 2023 VISIBILITY Upon returning from vacation, we found our moonroof had shattered. The vehicle was sitting in a parking garage at Logan airport in Boston for 7 days, with no evidence of any cause. The entirety of the glass was shattered and bowed up towards the center as if popping under tension. If the sunshade were open, shards of glass would have fallen upon myself and three children in the car. The description appears to match several other similar events described by other owners in previous NHTSA reports as well as online message boards.

Feb 2023 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,VISIBILITY/WIPER The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving in snowy and freezing weather the windshield wipers became inoperable due to an accumulation of snow and ice at the bottom of the windshield. The driver had to open the hood to remove the ice in order to allow the wipers to function. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. Additionally, while driving the odor of antifreeze was present inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who informed that tiny pin holes were present in the radiator and that the radiator needed to be replaced; however, the part was on back order due to high demand. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 10,000.
