The most common categories are seat belts, unknown or other, visibility/wiper. Use those categories as a test-drive checklist instead of judging the vehicle from the total count alone.
Enriched records include 4 crash reports, 2 fire reports, 4 injury reports, and 0 fatality reports. These fields come from complaint records and should be read in context.
Mileage is available on 19 complaints, with an average reported failure mileage of 29,194 miles. Compare that with the mileage on the listing.

| Date | Component | Summary | Severity | Mileage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jan 2024 | SEAT BELTS | The seat belts in the second row won’t buckle until the 5th or 6th try and will randomly pop out of the buckle once secured while driving down the road. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | SEAT BELTS | Our 2nd row, passenger side seatbelt releases itself randomly while driving. The Hyundai dealership couldn't replicate it but all they did was insert the seatbelt and tug on it. Multiple passengers have had it happen to them randomly so we don't use that seat if possible. The dealer said they will call it in or something, and call me back. That was 2 months ago. Tugging on it, it seems locked in, but while driving it just undoes itself. I've seen other palisade owners report this problem about the same 2nd row passenger side seatbelt. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | SEAT BELTS | Captains seats in the middle of the vehicle keep having the seatbelts unbuckle by themselves when in use. It does not matter the size of the rider. We replaced the entire assembly with original parts for the driver side captain seat in October by a Hyundai dealer. It continues to be an issue. The right side was cleaned and reassembled. This affects the ability for passengers to be safely restrained while the vehicle is in motion and should there be a collision, we are unsure if they buckle would stay latched. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | SUSPENSION | I was told the problem is the rear shock insulators. Both have been replaced & the noise continues. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | STEERING,LANE DEPARTURE | The steering wheel on the vehicle would immediately rotate about 10 degrees to the right after starting the vehicle. The steering wheel would then remain in this cocked right position. When driving, the car would pull very hard to the right when letting go of the steering wheel, even following an alignment. This also resulted in the steering wheel being very difficult to turn to the left vs the right. Additionally, this would cause the vehicle to track dangerously close to the right lane lines on the highway when using the lane keep assist feature and forced the driver to consistently pull the steering wheel to the left to track the vehicle straight. I took it to an independent service center for alignment which didn’t correct the issue. I then took it to my local Hyundai dealership for rectification. They recalibrated the steering angle sensor and torque sensor. This corrected the cocked right position of the steering wheel. It improved but did not fully get rid of the right pull and difficulty in turning the steering wheel to the left. I was forced to pay $195 for the steering calibration on a certified pre owned vehicle with just over 10,000 miles on it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | SUSPENSION,SERVICE BRAKES | We bought a Hyundai palisade from them. And as a military family we travel and are placed at different duty stations. When we bought the Hyundai palisade, we also got the bill Navarre warranty, it was our fault for not reading every line about the warranty. The Hyundai palisade is a 2022, sadly the brakes started acting like they were not working. We called them and were told that if we use the warranty anywhere other than at that location, we will lose the warranty and since we had been stationed elsewhere since buying the vehicle, we were stuck on what to do. We had to drive the vehicle risking our lives daily, pump the brakes 5-6 times for it to stop. until we could take it back to that location. We took the vehicle in and just as we thought the brakes were bad due to the master cylinder going out. We were given a small rental that the whole family couldn't fit in, we could have gotten a bigger vehicle if we paid the difference. While we waited on them to get the part in. While waiting we were notified that they crashed the vehicle, we are glad they told us, but the damage is done, and the vehicle will lose some of its value. They gave us a small SUV again so small our whole family can't fit in it. We are so upset with Hyundai and Bill Navarre. We have to sit now and reach out to consumer affairs, Hyundai and the BBB as well as the military because none of this is right. It's not right that people buy a vehicle and when something goes wrong due to the auto makers neglect that we have to suffer for it. Just read everything and be aware because Hyundai and the car dealerships don't care about your safety. Social media will be given notice. We took the car in to them on 11/20/2023 and we are not sure what day they wreck the vehicle, but we found out on 11/27/2023. Who is going to give us the difference of what our vehicle is worth and how do we feel safe getting back into an almost new car that the brakes went out in? | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | SEAT BELTS | The middle passenger seatbelt receptacle that came with the vehicle is the component that often failed. Passengers sitting in this particular seat would often try to put on their seatbelt and it would not catch. Though intermittent, this would occur 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. Passengers sitting in that particular seat (none of the other seatbelts had problems), would often have to try and engage or click their seatbelt "on" multiple times before it would actually catch. In many cases, the passenger would click the seatbelt, and a few minutes later, it would release without touching the release button. We explained the issue to a dealership on multiple occasions but they said they couldn't replicate the issue. Finally, recently, we explained that we would not leave until they fix it. We had to show the dealer how the seatbelt wouldn't engage and we successfully demonstrated its failure. The dealer reluctantly agreed to order a new seatbelt receptacle. Once the new seatbelt receptacle was installed, we have only experienced successful buckle and receptacle engagements. I believe the initial middle passenger seatbelt receptacle that came with the vehicle was faulty and posed much danger, and at some times, caused the vehicle to have been driven improperly when the seatbelt became unengaged. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING | Went to leave today, started my car and the dashboard lights (display) was off. Turned off car and restarted, still didn’t come back on after a restart. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | SUSPENSION | Rear struts are leaking hydraulic oil and a knocking noise is noticeable when going over bumps or pulling out the driveway. This is not normal wear on a car that only has 29800 miles. This is not the result of aggressive driving as we only have it for family use and don’t haul absolutely anything. This is bad design and if not fixed, you could start seeing uneven wear on the tires and probably a blowout. There has so be a recall to replace blown struts and not just components like shock absorbers or anything similar. The whole strut needs no be replaced to avoid uneven wear and knocking sounds and car bounce when going through bumps. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | SUSPENSION,WHEELS | Troubling noise from rear suspension/wheel when crossing small bumps at low speeds. It is a clunk/rubbing noise, almost a deep creeking sound. Came on suddenly - first noticed when leaving for work one day. Many weeks to get into dealership. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY | My wife and I were driving on I-81 south of Front Royal, Virginia on 10 October 2023 when our sunroof shattered. Temperatures were mild at the time and we were traveling at normal highway speeds. Nothing impacted the vehicle and there was no warning before the sunroof broke. This is the second time this has happened in this vehicle, the first time having been repaired under warranty by a local dealer. This time we were fortunate to have the sunshade closed so no glass got in the vehicle and we were not injured unlike last time. My wife held the sunshade closed and we managed to pull over safely. We found a car wash and vacuumed as much of the glass as we could and jury rigged a cover out of cardboard and duct tape so we could proceed on our trip. We are now contacting an attorney. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Child window lock button problems. At times when the child window lock button is depressed the car cycles through the locking sound. Happens repeatedly and the only way to turn it off is to turn off the child window lock safety feature. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Hyundai has failed to remedy recall 235 within a reasonable amount of time, and is misreporting the stats of completed repairs related to this recall. They state that owner notification letters and dealer instructions were mailed May 2023 and that "dealers will install a new fuse and wire extension kit, as necessary, free of charge." Yet, the dealerships I've contacted do not have the replacement parts and have not been able to repair my vehicle despite many inquiries. I have inquired with Hyundai USA about this permanent recall remedy and they have been unable to assist. They refer me back to the dealership, and the dealership refers me back to Hyundai USA with no remedy in site. The quarterly report stats are misleading, as my car and others have had this recall marked as "completed" when in fact only the inspection and interim fix to remove the 40A fuse was completed, not the permanent fix they claimed to have ready in May 2023. All the interim fix did was disable the power supplied to the tow hitch, so brakes and turn signals will not function on trailers, which is a road hazard. This is not a repair, it renders your tow hitch inoperable in a safe manner. While Hyundai USA reported to NHTSA back in May 2023 that they had a permanent fix including a replacement 15A fuse and new wire harness parts available, it is just not accurate. It is over a year since they publicly announced the tow hitch harness recall 235 and more than 5 months since they announced the permanent repair, yet any dealership I contacted was unable to perform the repair and said they were not supplied with the recall replacement parts. No alternative recall remedies have been given either. This recall needs to be remedied in actuality, not just on a piece of paper. So many owners like myself have exhausted means of contacting Hyundai, yet are still left with an unrepaired recall. It is unsafe and deplorable that they are publicly releasing inaccurate recall data in their favor. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,LANE DEPARTURE | The blind spot view monitor (which displays the blind spot view from the side camera in the cluster when operating the turn signal control) malfunctioned. I rely on this safety feature when changing lanes as an extra precaution, and having the blind spot view suddenly not display when its settings are turned on poses a safety risk. This problem persisted for roughly 24 hours on the date stated. I parked the car, turned it off and on several times, toggled the setting for it on and off but that did not resolve the issue. The vehicle did not have any warning indicting the blind spot view was not functioning properly and there were no other issues present. Oddly, the next evening, after being parked overnight, the blind spot view monitor was back to its proper display. Luckily, I captured a video of the issue which also shows that settings for the blind spot view monitor were on but that it would not display properly. Unfortunately, the dealer was unable to reproduce the problem, but they only drove it for a total of 12 miles in their possession. I'm uncertain what inspection or trouble-shooting they did. I'm reporting this issue since other Palisade owners have also experienced a similar intermittent problem with their blind spot view monitors. They also said it abruptly just starting working again, similar to what I experienced. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES | Child lock saftey feature not working, the car will make a lock noise as if flickering then a pop up will show on the dash stating child lock is not working | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | SEAT BELTS | The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH the seat belt on the third-row passenger’s side unlatched without warning. The contact attempted to insert the tongue into the buckle, however, the seat belt failed to latch securely. The dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the front passenger’s seat belt latch was previously replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 18,200. | Crash: No Fire: No | 18,200 |
| Sep 2023 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | This vehicle is equipped with a forward collision alert system, which did not activate and warn me. As a result a traffic accident occurred where I rear-ended a vehicle in front of me. Vehicle sustained 8000 dollars in damages and is currently being repaired. There were no visible notifications, no alarms of any kind prior to impact. Component was not inspected by the manufacturer. In this scenario, a vehicle in front was stopped at a stop sign, started proceeding forward, I followed, but did not notice them stop again, resulting in a rear-end collision. I was traveling under 25mph (which should be sufficient for the system to work), however as stated before, no alerts were activated. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Sunroof exploded on Monday August 14 driving on highway going approximately 60 mph in Albuquerque NM. Thankfully both covers were closed at the time of the incident. 86 degrees and clear skies at 3:20 PM. Dash cam in place at the time of incident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My sunroof exploded!! Nothing hit me, I wasn’t driving crazy. My family and I were on our way home from visiting my dad and we heard a loud bang, like a shotgun, and glass pieces. I pulled over immediately and saw the sunroof looks like it was punch from inside the car out. Just exploded! I had to google to see if this has happened before and surprised to see it has to other palisade owners. I got a police escort home because I had to drive really slow to get home safely. Incredibly scary for all of us. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | When vehicle is placed in reverse a warning that pops up says parking sensor error or blockage with a exclamation point in the front comes across on my dash board. Sensors have been cleaned and checked. Also disables the front warning collision feature. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | Sunroof randomly shattered driving down the highway. I had the interior sunshade cover open, and glass went all in the inside of the SUV. Thankfully, nobody was harm but it was super scary. It sounded like a gunshot when it happened. I see that Hyundai doesn't cover this expense, and I had to go through my insurance company to make a claim. THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE LOOKED AT. This is happening to a lot of other people. You would think this situation would be a recall matter, but apparently it's not. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | ENGINE | The vehicle went into limp mode while traveling on the highway. Vehicle decelerated from 65mph to 30mph very quickly & without warning (no indicator lights came on). I was almost rear ended, since the car behind be had no idea I was decelerating due to no brake lights. It then slowly decelerated to 14mph as I was able to get off highway. Upon inspection, by me, the vehicle was found to have very little oil & I do get my oil changes on the required interval at the dealership. It had been about 2500miles since my last oil change. This vehicle is available for inspection if needed. No warning lights or messages came on & the app that notifies of problems stated the car had no issues. The vehicle has been to the dealership multiple times & I have been made to come back every 1K miles for oil consumption tests x 3. As of the 3rd test, it has been calculated that my car is burning 1qt or oil every 775miles. The dealership is requesting a new engine for my vehicle. Hopefully it will be approved. But, I personally feel this is a major safety hazard to just have your car stop at of nowhere with no warning light or alarm. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | This is in reference to Hyundai Recall Number: 243, NHTSA Recall Number: 23V-180 Took my Hyundai to dealership on 3 different occasions for the intermittent wiper not working properly. It activates indiscriminately on clear sunny days and doesn't react to rain hitting the windshield. Three different times I took to dealership for this same problem including the safety recall. The problem still exists. It is a safety hazard on rainy days in Florida. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY | Rock from road hit windshield and caused a circular crack, with visible outside shearing of glass on surface of windshield. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,ENGINE | My car randomly starts itself if I leave the keys in it. Tge auto lights stopped working one night while driving. Hasn't done it again since. While my son and I were driving it decided to shut off at 50 mph. There was no warning at all. It has not been inspected as it has nit happened again to be seen. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
