We were at a busy intersection and was able to pull off the road into a parking lot and had AAA come and tow the truck and took it to Poages Auto Plaza, Quincy IL. This could have been really serious had we been on a busier road. We tried to restart the vehical and it would not start. We are going to need a loaner vehical preferrably a Truck.

Jul 2025 STRUCTURE While driving on [XXX] from Houston to San Antonio the front Grille spontaneously flew off from my hood and hit my windshield. Grille damaged the hood but no known damage to shield. This was very frightening while on a highway because it almost caused me to crash as it triggered my PTSD from the blast and led me to swerve. Fortunately I regained vehicle control and avoided other damage to others. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Jul 2025 STRUCTURE Multiple times today my tailgate dropped randomly without my knowledge. With the tailgate randomly dropping, and no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms, it puts others at risk due to the potential for the contents of the truck bed to fall out into traffic causing damage or bodily injury to others on the road. During my research on what could cause this to occur, I was made aware of a recall of this same make, model, and year vehicle. The description of the reason for the recall was exactly what I experienced with my vehicle. I immediately attempted to confirm that my vehicle was listed on the recall by entering by VIN online. I discovered that there was not an active recall on my specific vehicle, so I contacted the nearest GMC dealership. After speaking with the service tech, he confirmed that my symptoms was exactly what the dealership had addressed with other vehicles that were on the recall list. He confirmed that my VIN was not included, yet the recall did have the same make, model, and year. I will be making an appointment at my dealership to repair this at my expense since it is not covered on the recall.

Jun 2025 POWER TRAIN While traveling at highway speeds in a very congested and busy segment near Virginia Beach Virginia the truck began shifting erratically and suddenly lost power which required me to cross two lanes of traffic 30 miles an hour below the speed limit to get to the shoulder. Cars were swerving everywhere to miss us with this sudden loss of power and speed. The truck has been towed and now at the dealer where it has been diagnosed with a stuck/failed pressure control solenoid and the valve body must be replaced which is apparently on back order due to the high number of failures on the GM 10speed transmissions. Such a sudden loss of power and the reduced power mode of the software made the situation extremely dangerous at highway speeds in congested traffic. Something should be done quickly to get these vehicles off the road until a suitable fix is resolved as someone is going to get killed.

Jun 2025 POWER TRAIN I bought the truck 3.5 months ago with 66,000 miles with a recall (reprogramming) on the transmission already done according to the dealer. Then yesterday on 6/25 the truck stuttered then shifted hard. When I got to my destination it didn’t have reverse. But no warning lights. So I drove it to the dealer and before I got there it did it again and sent the truck into a power loss mode this time with a warning light. And would barely finish going up the hill with cars behind me. Now they are saying it needs a transmission but gm is only offering to pay half. Also saying the diesel would be covered but my gas isn’t even though I’m pretty sure they are the same transmission makes no sense. Lastly shouldn’t them offering to pay %50 show that they know they have a problem

Jun 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The OnStar module is no longer working. When I purchased the vehicle, the green light did not turn on. I called customer service, and they advised me to take it to the dealership since they were unable to connect to the vehicle. I am unable to contact emergency services in case of an accident, and I cannot access services like remote location and remote start from the mygmc app. I have seen several people online state that their module failed as well. It's a common occurrence that falls onto the customer to pay for. An update to the module seems to be the reason so many modules are failing.

Jun 2025 POWER TRAIN I was on the way to the airport and my vehicle suddenly went into reduced power mode and had trouble shifting into gear. I pulled over, shut off my truck, and turned it back on only to have the problem continue. I was able to turn around and make it home, but the vehicle would then not shift into reverse. We had to push the vehicle so that I could position it in the street. Once we were back from vacation, I took it to a GM Certified Service location (my local Cadillac dealership). After review, they diagnosed a defective valve body and the engine recall. I’ve been informed as of today that my valve body will be $3,000 and GM will not cover it because I have more than 60k miles on the truck (it has 72k). After research, this is a common issue and it is ridiculous that GM will not escalate the issue and help consumers with this clear problem due to their manufacturing and/or design. The vehicle is currently sitting at the dealer waiting for a back ordered valve body and I have had to go out of pocket to rent a vehicle. Every service for the vehicle has been completed at a GM Certified Service location. It is available for inspection immediately, if required.

The contact stated that the failure reoccurred, the vehicle lost motive power, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact returned the vehicle to the same dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed back to the same dealer. Jun 2025 ENGINE The incident occurred during a journey from Sacramento, CA, to Winchester, CA, a distance of approximately 486 miles in my 2022 GMC Sierra AT4, equipped with the recalled 6.2L V8 engine, which has accumulated around 61,000 miles. I was driving when a loud bang caught my attention over the music. After that, I heard swooshing sounds three times before the engine lost power. I was able to move over to the right shoulder throughout heavy traffic; I managed to make it safely. During the maneuvering of my truck to the shoulder, I noticed on the dashboard that the vehicle was telling me to shift the vehicle to neutral and start it. I shifted the vehicle to neutral, but it did not start. Upon inspecting the fuses and battery for any obvious issues, I proceeded to check the harmonic balancer for signs of engine seizing. The engine had completely locked up.

Jun 2025 ENGINE I am writing to formally lodge a complaint and request immediate resolution regarding my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 equipped with the L87 6.2L V8 engine, which has been out of service for more than 30 consecutive days due to a recall-related defect. The vehicle is inoperable, and I have been informed by the authorized dealership that no loaner vehicle will be provided, with no clear estimate for when parts or repairs will be available. I have contacted both General Motors Customer Assistance and the local dealership to request a loaner vehicle. In both cases, I was informed that no loaner was available. I was advised that I could rent a vehicle at my own expense, and that GM would only consider reimbursement up to $44 per day, but only after the recall is completed and only if my case is deemed eligible upon review. This reimbursement policy—requiring me to first pay out-of-pocket without guarantee of repayment—has placed significant undue hardship, financial burden, and emotional stress on me and my family. This situation is especially frustrating considering the vehicle: Remains under GM’s lifetime powertrain warranty; Has been completely unusable for 59 days without replacement; Has left me with no reliable means of transportation, and Involves a known defect acknowledged by GM, yet with no definitive timeline for resolution. As a result, I am suffering direct and ongoing consequences, including: Out-of-pocket transportation costs; Disruption to daily life and mounting stress that no consumer should face after purchasing a premium, modern vehicle from a manufacturer of GM’s reputation. Accordingly, I am requesting the following: Provision of a comparable loaner vehicle immediately, or full reimbursement for a rental vehicle retroactive to the date the truck became inoperable; Compensation for loss of transportation and impact on life. If GM cannot resolve the defect in a timely manner, a full repurchase or replacement of the vehicle under federal warranty law.

Jun 2025 POWER TRAIN While driving on the freeway, my truck suddenly experienced a severe and unexpected downshift into first gear at highway speeds. Dashboard warning lights immediately illuminated, indicating multiple system faults. I was able to safely pull over and shift the vehicle into park. However, after doing so, the truck completely refused to engage drive or any other gear. This abrupt and uncommanded downshift posed a serious safety risk, not only to myself but to other drivers, due to the potential for loss of vehicle control. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene. It has now been at the dealership for over two and a half months, with no clear timeline for repair or resolution. This incident raises major concerns about the reliability and safety of the transmission system, particularly under high-speed conditions.

Jun 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER The dealer is telling me there is a faulty engine coolant, flow control valve on this vehicle and multiple other people are having the same issue. The part is on backorder and takes months to arrive. They are telling me I can drive the vehicle, but it becomes a safety issue because the engine thinks it is overheating And goes into reduced acceleration mode, which can impact safely driving the vehicle. Pulling out in traffic and not being able to accelerate can be extremely dangerous.
