| Mar 2026 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | While driving on the road the vehicle started sputtering and stalled! We pulled to the side of the road and tried to start the car but it rolled and would not start. We called a a mechanic who had it towed and found out that the fuel pump and the fuel control board had failed. Both have been replaced and the truck seems to be working again. Heard several other persons had this issue with their GCM Sierra Elevation so we wanted to report since there is currently no recall. Luckily the traffic was not going that fast or we could have had an accident and been seriously injured. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ENGINE | The engine decided to make some noise and all I heard was Ching Ching Ching, and it just died and I was unable to start it again | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Electrical system…battery is completely dead after short in tailgate button. Yesterday afternoon I washed out the bed and tailgate. This is important to know as a result of my research. Several hours later I go out to the truck and the tailgate is open unexpectedly, thought I had left it opened. After going to dinner and shopping with family I tried to open tailgate with tailgate button and it would not work. After several attempts I then used my FOB button, worked. The next morning I go out and the tailgate is opened not by me, I closed it. Got to my destination put truck in park and tailgate opened by itself. I closed it. Went inside grabbed what I needed 15 min later go back to truck and tailgate is open..I close it. I go to start truck and battery is dead. Confirmed by battery plus in Medford oregon. Did some research and see that a recall has been issued for this same reason: N232426400 Tailgate May Open Unexpectedly. Yes the recall does not cover my vim however I believe this needs to be as a result of the cause and effect you have already confirmed. Today is Sunday. I will contact local gmc dealer though I wanted to start a formal process. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | 2022 gmc sierra The tailgate is electrical which cause safety awareness and concern due to the tailgate opening by itself. The tailgate seems to continuously electronically open and continue to release the latch causing the tail gate to open possibly loosing cargo from the bed or tailgate opening and hitting other vehicles that may park too close or cause damage on a hitch if available. It is a persisten issue and I have seen too many complaints. This should be looked at and recalled by manufacture or dealers it’s become a very common issues for gmc trucks and a lot of upset customers. I’m one of them. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | STRUCTURE | front upper grille trim violently ripped off while driving down the highway. hit windshield and flew up and over the car into traffic on the highway. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ENGINE | Vehicle burns approximately 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | STRUCTURE,ENGINE | The motor stoped working 6.2. Left me stranded in the middle of the road. No warning, the engine just gave up and stopped working. As well as the grill flying away and breaking my windshield, this happened last year in february while driving 75 mph. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Tailgate opens randomly on numerous occasions. Sometimes it won't open after pressing the button. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ENGINE | The truck was a part of the L87 recall inlcuding the 6.2L engines. It passed their pico inspection. They changed the oil. I was driving down the interstate in Memphis rush hour traffic with my daughter in the backseat and suddenly lost all propulsion. The dash said please start truck. I lost all power to the engine. I had to navigate high speed traffic and merge lanes safely. The cars stuck behind me, myself and family, and others nearby could've been in a wreck because of this issue. We were stuck on the side of the interstate waiting for a tow truck. It was towed to the nearby dealer where it sat waiting for the engine to be replaced for a couple of months. We are extremely lucky that the large trucks did not run us over. GM has since replaced the engine with another remanufactured engine that is already making noises similar to the one it had before. What is going to happen when we are in an accident due to GM's negligence and continued issues with this engine? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Tailgate opens randomly on numerous occasions. Sometimes it won't open after pressing the button. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ENGINE | The coolant control valve failed. This is a known failure point of poor design and on every other truck from 2019-2023 with the duramx LM2/LZ0 engine, they are covered by a special service warranty to 150,000 miles. GM knows this items fails and puts consumers lives at risk when the failure throws the truck into limp mode on the freeway. They refuse to do a recall to avoid doing the right thing. This is deceptive and wrong. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | POWER TRAIN | On 2/23/26 my GMC sierra 1500 AT4 3.0L Inline-6 Turbo-Diesel, it auto stopped (which I will never keep on again) on an incline and would not start back up or shift gears and rolled a few feet. I had to turn it off and restart it, then the engine light came on and a notification about conditions not favorable for shifting? My app said service was needed for engine/transmission issue. I took it to the dealership and it now has to have the transmission control valve body assembly replaced. I did not receive a recall notice for my truck but, it seems to be the same issue that the recall was for on GM vehicles of the same time period. Of course the dealership said they have no loaner vehicles and I'm supposed to be without my truck for approx. a week and a half at this point. I am disappointed with GMC and the quality that I am paying $70k for. I had a 07' Silverado 2500 I purchased new and drove it for almost 15yrs. w/ no issues. Hopefully this is a good fix and it'll last but, from what I've seen, GM is not the quality it used to be. This is on top of being in the shop for a coolant control valve issue that wasn't recalled either but, a known issue on the pickups so beware. I did call GMC and they will reimburse up to $44 a day on a rental (has to be a GM vehicle btw) during this fiasco of course afterwards and with a bunch of paperwork but, I have to have a vehicle, in TX nothing is close by. Good luck everyone! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | STRUCTURE | The front upper grille molding/deflector located above the front grille and directly below the hood on my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 has become loose and is separating from the vehicle. The left side attachment points appear to have failed, allowing the plastic component to visibly move and lift while driving at highway speeds. The condition worsens with airflow, and the part vibrates and flexes significantly while traveling on the freeway. This creates a safety concern because the component appears at risk of detaching completely from the vehicle and becoming roadway debris, potentially striking other vehicles or causing drivers to take evasive action. No warning lights or dashboard messages were present prior to discovering the issue. The problem was first noticed after observing movement of the grille trim while driving at normal highway speeds. The vehicle has not been involved in any collision or modification that would cause this condition. A GMC dealer inspected the concern and confirmed the vehicle is not currently included in an active recall despite an existing GMC recall addressing grille deflector detachment on similar 2022 Sierra 1500 vehicles. The defective component is currently still installed on the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. Due to the risk of detachment while driving, vehicle operation at highway speeds now presents a potential hazard to surrounding traffic. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | ENGINE | My gmc sierra Denali 2022 equipped with the 6.2 motor locked up while I was driving pulling me out of the road. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | AIR BAGS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Following engine replacement per NHTSA for 6.2l GMC engine. I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali (refresh body style). The vehicle has experienced repeated failures of driver-assist features and safety system warnings, including: Dash messages: “Lane Keeping Assist System Unavailable” and “Service Safety Restraint System.” When the fault occurs, driver-assist features including Adaptive Cruise Control become inoperative. The issue has recurred multiple times, including after repairs. After one event, the truck sat parked approximately 10 days and the battery discharged to failure and required replacement. A dealership visit documented DTC U3000 (“Internal Electronic Failure”) in the front view camera module. The dealer replaced/programmed/calibrated the front camera on 02/09/2026 at approximately 58,405 miles (invoice/RO #285795). The symptoms have recurred despite prior resets and this repair. I am concerned about loss of driver-assist functions while driving and the presence of a safety restraint system warning. Please investigate whether there is a defect related to the front camera/driver-assist systems and/or electrical module behavior that can cause repeat faults and battery drain on this model. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | STRUCTURE | Front grill deflector detached from vehicle when traveling on highway. This is a recall repair for the same issue. There were no warning lamps. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | coolant control valve failed, truck cannot be driven due to overheating, Dealer has said due the national backorder, it could be 2 months before they receive the replacement part. There is a significant national backorder on the engine coolant flow control valve for 2020–2025 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado trucks equipped with the 3.0L Duramax (LM2/LZ0) diesel engine. Many owners are reporting wait times of several weeks to months, with some vehicles sitting in repair shops for over 70 days. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact had parked the vehicle in a parking space when the engine seized. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel system control module had failed. The contact was informed that the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 90,000 |
| Feb 2026 | ENGINE | L87 Catastrophic Engine Failure on second engine after 6300 miles. This is the second issue with the 6.2L engine in my Sierra 1500. The first engine passed the L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion field action and then suffered Catastrophic Engine Failure a month later. The replacement engine procedure took over 3 weeks to perform and no rental or loaner vehicle was provided by GM or the servicing dealership. The vehicle is currently in the service department at another dealership awaiting the 2nd engine replacement, but it has been over 2 weeks since the engine failure. This servicing dealer has provided a vehicle to use. This has been a very frustrating ordeal and I feel that resell and value of this vehicle has been compromised and GM has done nothing to offset this with me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission locked up after leaving a stop sign. Rear wheels locked and vehicle was inoperable. Dealership repaired with replacement transmission valve body parts under warranty. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The vehicle is subject to Safety Recall N252494001 (NHTSA Campaign 25V-274) due to manufacturing defects in the engine crankshaft and connecting rod bearings. • Component/System Failed: The 6.2L V8 (L87) engine crankshaft and connecting rod assembly. The engine is available for inspection upon request. • Safety Risk: The defect can cause catastrophic engine damage and sudden loss of propulsion while driving, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. • Dealer/Manufacturer Confirmation: The problem was confirmed via the issuance of Safety Recall N252494001. A dealership inspection was performed previously as part of the recall. • Warning Signs/Symptoms: Common symptoms include engine knocking, check engine lights, and hesitation before sudden failure. The Issue with the Remedy: Federal law (49 U.S.C. § 30120) requires manufacturers to remedy safety defects "without charge". As a permanent safety remedy for this defect, GM has mandated a switch from 0W-20 to 0W-40 (dexosR) oil for the life of the engine to prevent bearing failure. However, the dealership and manufacturer are refusing to provide this mandated safety spec change without an ongoing $85 surcharge per oil change. While they performed the initial "inspection" oil change for free, they are now using the recall-mandated spec change to create a financial burden on the consumer. Because 0W-40 is now the mandatory factory requirement to prevent the safety defect, charging a premium for it constitutes a failure to provide the recall remedy "without charge." General Motors refuses to offset this cost, effectively penalizing the owner for a manufacturer safety defect. The dealership is also failing to honor my Platinum Wrap warranty and GM Prepaid service contract to perform the continued oil changes without additional charges. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | See attached document for complaint. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission has failed twice in 2023, dealer carried out repairs but still the Transmission started shuddering after every 1000 miles, truck has been in service centre for almost 12 times for the repeated issue but no permanent solution, after my bumper to bumper warranty got over in 2025 September again service Transmission sign appeared and got my valve body replaced on January. after a month on feb the same message appeared again to service transmission and they refused to cover the issue in warranty and asked me to pay almost 7k dollors to get it repaired. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | While driving I get a reduced acceleration warning on my dash cluster, drastically reducing horse power. My check engine light came on. This has happened before. I checked the code and it was a P1098 code. After researching I found out it was the Engine coolant control valve. My fan is constantly running. This issue is ongoing. This seems to be a common occurrence with my vehicle year. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | ENGINE | My GM Dealership completed the GM 6.2 Engine Inspection and recommended Oil Replacement as part of the 6.2 Engine Recall. Roughly 5,000 miles after this service, the engine failed. I attempted to accelerate from 45-65 miles per hour while getting on the highway, and the engine seized up. I was able to coast/steer the vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle's starter could not crank the engine. I had the vehicle towed to the shop where the dealership confirmed the engine had seized. The dealership and GM replaced the engine under a warranty repair. I am making you aware of this situation, as the manufacturers suggested solution to the engine issue (The Change in Oil Type, Filter and Cap) did not prevent the engine from failing. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
