| Jun 2024 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I’ve been noticing a frequent issue with my trailer not having the left blinker work per notification it gives. So I gave been checking the information screen for trailer lighting any time that I’m pulling a trailer just to make sure all of my lights are working. Today, the truck told me all lights were on and working with the trailer. Meanwhile, after getting pulled over and explaining the info the truck is giving and then unplugging and replugging the trailer from the truck to prove that the lights do in fact work I was finally dismissed from the traffic stop. So the truck was telling me that all lights are on and working on the trailer… meanwhile there wasn’t a single light on!!! The issue with the left turn signal light not blinking on a trailer is relative to the truck as well since it only does it on the truck and with a multitude of different trailers/magnetic trailer lights. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC | The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact stated that the message “Engine Power Reduced” was displayed. Additionally, the contact stated that the “BRAKE” warning light illuminated; however, due to the failure the computer system generated the failure code in error. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed as a fractured well in the braking system. The contact was informed that the braking system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the parts needed to be ordered to perform the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000. The VIN was unavailable. | Crash: No Fire: No | 56,000 |
| Jun 2024 | STRUCTURE | In early April 2023 I opened my driver’s side door and the inside of my 2022 Ford Maverick was wet from the headliner down to the carpets. There WAS condensation throughout the interior of the vehicle even though the Repair Order stated there was none. The inside of the vehicle was damp. All windows were closed tightly. The headliner, back seat, front seat, carpets, and all the interior was damp. I had a book on my back seat that was damp and the pages were curled. There was MOLD underneath the floor mats. I contacted a MOLD specialist who stated that it is impossible to effectively rid a vehicle of MOLD. He stated that MOLD spores are in every crevice of the truck and it WILL return. On April 6, 2023 I took the truck to The Ford Store where I purchased it. There was 1294 miles on the odometer. They could not find the leak. My vehicle was there for several weeks and the interior was completely torn down from the headliner to the carpets. The Service Department finally said that they located the leak area and repaired it. The dealer guaranteed in writing that the MOLD was gone. On June 23, 2024 (today) I was getting ready to take the truck back to The Ford Store for tomorrow’s appointment. They will be addressing the three recalls. I just noticed MOLD under the mats again. The MOLD is on the floor board and is crawling up the footwells under the rubber mats. There is also MOLD on some of the plastic material close to the floor boards. My health and the health of all passengers who have ridden in my vehicle for the last 14 months have been and continue to be at risk. I have been contacted by other Ford Maverick owners who have experienced the same issue. The Ford Maverick Truck Club has many posts about leaks and subsequent MOLD issues. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS | On Thursday (June 13, 2024) my truck displayed a fault that states Rear Belt Monitor Fault Service Required, at the same time my air bag light came on. I proceeded to work and found a lot of people have had this issue with their Ford Mavericks but have all said it is actually their drivers seatbelt with the issue. My husband thought he would test it to see and while driving he took his seatbelt off, the airbag light and fault went away but also even driving at highway speeds it never told us the seatbelt was off. When he plugged the seatbelt back in my truck indicated that seatbelt 3 was actually plugged in and the fault and airbag light came back on. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | I was driving on the freeway driving eastbound on 152 and I switch to the fast lane to pass a vehicle and the throttle stopped working, the truck lost speed and the truck turned off, a message popped on the screen saying that I needed to put it in park. I put it in park put the hazards on and attempt to restart it and it would crank but wouldn’t start. I did this until the allowed amount of times reached its limit. I attempted to put the gear in neutral but the knob was stuck. The truck was at a slight angle as I was going uphill and couldn’t get it to move. I find the release lever to make it neutral and it didn’t work but now that lever got stuck all this is going on while the traffic is at is heaviest. The truck stalled until 2 hrs later when a tow truck came to pick it up. I got dropped off at a safe location and the truck turned on and would shift into gear but it sounded bad. Info screen says something about not being able to park and the key is stuck on the truck still. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2024 | POWER TRAIN | My vehicle sits at about 26k miles currently. I experienced extreme shaking coming from under the vehicle under acceleration. The issue happened while going up a hill with my whole family. I had to pull over to inspect the issue as it felt like a wheel was coming off. Upon visual inspection both CV Joints were leaking grease all over the undercarriage of my vehicle. A screeching grinding and clunking noise was heard as I continued to drive. This noise went away shortly after, however the shaking upon acceleration continued. It's important to note that I do not take my vehicle off road and is mostly driven on paved roads to and from work and has never been overloaded in anyway. After I took the vehicle to the Dealership, they confirmed that both half shafts were failing and were disintegrating. The passenger side bad enough that it had expelled most of the grease. Continued use would have led to complete failure and could've resulted in an accident. On a vehicle with under 26k miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2024 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,BACK OVER PREVENTION | driving down I 90 at 65 mph, powertrain/ power malfunction light came on and power was reduced to 20 mph. Very dangerous . This happened at least 4 times until I was able to return home. shut truck off and would go until the warning light came back on. contacting dealer tomorrow | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that for two years from the end of November to April, he observed a burning odor in the cabin of the vehicle, that caused him to have a headaches and stomach aches. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on multiple occasions where the failure was not able to be replicated. The vehicle was then taken to a different dealer where it was diagnosed that the blower motor resistor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The contact believed that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V380000 (Engine). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 3,975. | Crash: No Fire: No | 3,975 |
| Mar 2024 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING,ENGINE,FIRERELATED | See attached document for complaint | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | STRUCTURE | My truck started collecting water in the front passenger side floor. Took it to the dealer and they couldn’t find the leak at first. Then they claim it was coming from the window seal on the back passenger window. I refused to have it repaired for 950$. 600 dollars in now with leaky rear window. This has already started a mold issue under the carpet. This needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | SEAT BELTS,SEATS | What component or system failed or malfunctioned? It’s not exactly failed or malfunctioned as much as it is just a flawed design. However, the problem is that the drivers seatbelt keeps getting wrapped up in the lever to recline the seat. This results in the handle getting pulled off of the seat constantly, the seat unexpectedly reclining when the driver pulls on the seatbelt too hard, or the seatbelt simply getting bunched up in the handle causing it to just become stuck and non functional. Is it available for inspection upon request? It is available for inspection anytime. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? When the drivers seat suddenly reclines or the seatbelt fails to engage due to being caught up in another component of the vehicle that’s a problem. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No although I can duplicate that issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Manufacturing defect on the cowl deflector seal causes water to leak into the cabin and pool up on the floor of the passenger side front seat. Significant amount of water. This will result in damage to the carpets, mold issues (health and safety concern) along with possible damage to the electronics that is passes through right under and behind the glove box. Also passes through the cabin air filter box. Many Maverick owners have reported this problem in various internet forums, and yet there has not been a recall. I had to pay the local dealer to reseal this area with silicone due to a faulty design. Ford would not cover the expense. The dealer wanted $900 to dry the carpet. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that the vehicle would not properly accelerate from a stationary position and the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the EVP Emissions Control System and the purge valve were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 43,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 43,000 |
| Jan 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Had front half shafts replaced under warranty at 12k miles. Currently at 22k miles and experiencing the same vibration/shudder at about 50mph. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Failure of a half shaft could leave the vehicle stranded or could cause loss of control. Problem was already confirmed by dealership and half shafts were replaced. Problem is presenting itself again 10k miles later. Problem is well known with other owners. No warning lamps. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I bought a 2022 Maverick on 12 JAN 2022. The car broke down on the highway six months after (23 JUL 2022). Ford service department claimed it was a fuel injector issue and by replacing the part, the truck should be as good as new. Fast forward to Sat 30 DEC 2023 and the truck breaks down on the highway again with the engine light flashing. Ford service department informed me that the engine has to be replaced because several parts are broken/shattered and they do not know how. I am inclined to believe that the issue was never fixed to begin with and Ford put my safety and the lives of the people I care about at risk. I was sold a lemon with major engine issues and I am terrified of driving the truck again. All the service reports are currently at the dealership; I can acquire copies when needed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | ENGINE | Engine shut down at speed. Power totally went off. No power steering. Service engine light came on. I was able to restart vehicle but it kept shutting off. Vehicle starts with engine warning light but cannot be derived without shutting down. this has happened twice. Once with about 200 miles and the second time with 3,500 miles | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | I was driving back home from errands and during a stop, the entire car suddenly powered off and became unresponsive. I couldn’t even flash my hazards and was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection. Also couldn’t put it in neutral since the gear shifter is electronically powered. Some bystanders tried to jump my car, but it took 6 solid tries before they could restore power. I drove it another 1000 ft, trying to head to a service center and this time it completely powered off while in motion. I had to fight with the steering wheel to pull it to the shoulder as the power steering went out and the car started making clicking noises. The entire car was completely dead, once again. A tow truck diagnosed the battery as still healthy and suspects a deeper electrical fault with the car. It has been towed to the dealer for service under warranty, but I am reading that I am not the only one with this issue. A lot of folks are getting battery swaps and having the issue recur later. Could this be a wiring harness fault, or a much more pervasive electrical issue? The entire episode was terrifying, and I could have gotten into a major accident if this was on a busier road. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | This vehicle was purchased in 2021 with a 3 year 36k mile warranty. At 39k miles the truck has started to shut off randomly while driving. It has put us in very dangerous situations and it happens multiple times every day. The vehicle will be driving down the road and suddenly shut off. It will not switch to neutral so cannot be pulled off the road. It will not turn on for at least 20 minutes so we get stuck in the middle of the road. Sometimes it will turn back on but other times it has to be jumped. Ford is telling us that any repairs will not be covered because this brand new car is out of warranty. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The passenger side footwell is accumulating water. Windows are closed, no significant rainfall. Perhaps associated with the AC. Mold spores have formed on the carpet causing a health hazard. I am too worried to pull up the carpet to see what it is like underneath. After drying it several times, it continues to form puddles, again with no rain. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | Multiple instances of Auto Hold function sucking brake to floor and haulting vehicle at low speeds causing danger of a rear collision. Recommend adding a 1 second delay to current system before engaging auto hold function. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | I pulled my 2022 Maverick into my parking spot at work and everything went dead. I had to use my key to open my tailgate. The tow service jumped the battery and it started, however, when they went to take it off the tow truck at the Ford dealership, it had to be jump started again. I was told the battery was bad and they changed it. The vehicle worked fine for three days and on the morning of the fourth day I had difficulty starting the vehicle. The first three times I turned the key all I heard was clicking and it started on the fourth try. I then drove it straight to the dealership where it has been for the past 8 days. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | SEAT BELTS | The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that after she parked the vehicle, her daughter unlatched the rear passenger's seat belt; however, the shoulder strap that she had placed behind her was twisted and inadvertently retracted. The seat belt then seized while tightly wrapped around the contact's daughter's waist, causing her breathing difficulty. The contact had to cut the rear passenger's seat belt with a scissor to release her daughter. The contact's daughter sustained bruising on her stomach and waist; however, medical attention was not received. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 34,115. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 | 34,115 |
| Jul 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | I have a 2022 Ford Maverick, 2.0 ecoboost engine, awd. I have been having brake problems since the beginning. The problem is the front brakes do not back out enough to leave a proper air gap between the brake pad and rotor when deactivating the service mode. Therefore the pads keep riding on the rotors causing glazing and grabby brakes when coming to a stop behind a vehicle. Turning off the active breaking did help with the grabby brakes when stopping behind a vehicle, but did not resolve the glazing issue. I took the truck into two dealerships and the techs. could not find a solution. the front calipers, front brake hoses and the brake master cylinder have been replaced with no success. Maybe the solution is to adjust the air gap settings somewhere in the software. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The Ford Maverick rear view camera is dangerously laggy - it will freeze several times during backing. It also washes out in bright sun. I consider this a dangerous feature that should be addressed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,AIR BAGS | The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V594000 (Air Bags) and 22V730000 (Exterior Lighting, Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
