Feb 2023 SERVICE BRAKES (there is a brake system malfunction. When braking sometimes the brakes would skip and I could feel the brakes not grabbing the rotors the way they should. the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer because the dealership could not figure out what was causing the problem with the brakes. the dealership inspected the brakes. there was no warning lamps or messages of the brake problem.) I first started to hear a intermittent rubbing noise when braking and driving slow a couple months after I purchased the vehicle. I took it the vehicle into the dealership and they could not figure out what was wrong. I was told perhaps i was to aggressive on the brakes. the problem continued so i went to another dealership and they looked at the brakes and could not figure out what was causing the noise. the rotors looked glossy (glazed) So I decided to replace the rotors and brakes at my cost because I was told the truck was out of warranty. one week after the repairs were made, I started to hear the rubbing noise again. I was furious! I couldnt believe this was happening on a brand new vehicle, especially on a ford. So I continued to drive until the rotors got so bad that the steering wheel was shaking when I braked.the rotors were warped. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and replace the brake pads and rotors using the ford manual for the 2022 maverick. This time I decided to only drive eco mode on the highway and normal mode in the city. I also turn off the active braking every time I got in the truck. I was also very careful not to be aggressive on the brakes and not to ride them when slowing down. I kept a close watch on the rotors. after two weeks of driving the rubbing noise started again and the rotors are glazed again. I do not know if its a mechanical issue with the brake calipers/master cylinder or a computer/software issue. I cannot afford to be replacing brakes and rotors every two weeks. I am greatly disappointed in ford motor company .

Jan 2023 LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES I was working on my vehicle, when I close the hood. Upon closing, I heard something, I go to open, and the hood latch is stuck closed, not sure if that's a safety concern, but it was for me, as I could not access any important components of my vehicle, took it to the dealer, but still something of concern on a new vehicle.

Jan 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I know there are issues with the Hybrid versions, but this one is not a hybrid. I have had the battery die 4 separate times resulting in me being stranded due to no fault of my own. This Ford Maverick was purchased through the Military Auto Sales at Ramstein AB Germany. It is US-spec and owned/operated by a US Military member stationed overseas. The first time it happened at the Frankfurt airport after owning it for a week and driving it from the Port of Bremerhaven (port of entry). Once I got it jumped and back to Ramstein I did not have an issue for 3 weeks. It died after sitting for three days over New Years. I jumped it and drove it around for over an hour to charge the battery. I then left it for a few days to see if it occurred again. One week later it died. I then jumped it and drove it around again to charge the battery. At this point I suspected the Ford Pass Connect, bluetooth or wifi to be the cause so I turned all of those off. After going on a work trip for a week I came back to discover it was dead again. Something is wrong with teh battery or electrical system. It should automatically go to a deep sleep mode if lower voltage is detected. I don't know what is running (it is not something the driver selected) but it is killing the battery. The last time my Duracell jump pack registered an error and could not jump it. This is a serious defect that can leave people stranded without warning.

Dec 2022 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The main fuel line feeding the fuel pump ruptured without warning, causing gas to spray across the engine compartment. The hot engine caused the gas to start cooking off, resulting in a fire in the engine compartment. The fuel line rupture has been confirmed by my Ford dealership.

Oct 2022 STRUCTURE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The 2022 Ford Maverick has a design flaw the harms the environment and places driver and passengers at risk. Specifically the vehicle does not have a metal skid plate which places the Evap System at risk for damage. If the system is damaged the vehicle is still driveable, but doing so allows gas vapors into the environment and worse, possibly into the passenger compartment. Looking under the vehicle, one finds some sort of fabric or mesh material which is definately not robust enough to protect the evap system components from damage. Driving on paved roads....no problem. Using this vehicle as a truck involves driving on farm land, pastures, lightly wooded areas, etc. This is where the damage may occur. There is no warning posted on the vehicle or in the owners manual that warns drivers to avoid these areas. The solution is simple. A recall to replace the fabric or mesh material with a metal skid plate. Most trucks and off-road vehicles have metal skid plates as standard components. Why the 2022 Maverick does not is beyond my understanding.

Sep 2022 AIR BAGS The side curtain airbags in my 2022 Ford Maverick have been recalled, but the replacement parts will not be available for 5-6 months. This is a Massive safety concern for me as I drive the truck with my 1 and 3-year-old daughters. This is a dangerous situation that I am being told can not be remedied in a timely manner. I can not be expected to cover the added cost of a rental vehicle for close to half of a year and I refuse to put my children and myself in danger by continuing to use this faulty vehicle.

Aug 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V193000 (Electrical System) was repaired at the dealer. The contact was stopped by the police and informed that the brake light on the trailer was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the Ford Tech to reprogram the brake module. The contact was informed to no use the trailer brakes. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 9,000.

Aug 2022 POWER TRAIN Transmission Failure. Following a 550 mile road trip over two days. The transmission would fail to engage in Drive and Reverse until the engine was throttled to 4000-4500RPM. Transmission felt like a Manual with failing clutch, would slip until slowly engaging after running at high RPMs for a few seconds. The condition appeared after the first day of the trip, and was intermittent, occurring only during standing starts. Once the vehicle was moving, there was no problem maintaining speed. Over the next two days the condition deteriorated to the point where it was occurring almost every time the vehicle was started and an attempt was made to start from a stand still. It began to become noticeable shifting from 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 as well, where it felt like the transmission was slipping during acceleration. There were no warning lamps or indications from the vehicle that there was a failure. This caused a loss of power and acceleration, which endangers the vehicle occupants in situations where power and acceleration is needed, such as merging, crossing intersections, or making defensive driving maneuvers. This vehicle was towed to a dealer, where the dealer validated the concern, and the transmission was replaced under warranty. Repair notes state that the transmission converter had failed. The transmission was returned to the manufacturer during the service visit. There are multiple instances online of other vehicles with this transmission having the same problem.

Jun 2022 SERVICE BRAKES Mavericks with Integrated Trailer Brake Controllers are not sending any voltage to the trailer brakes when the brake pedal is pressed. Customers are at risk of not having the anticipated additional braking ability of their trailers and will be putting the entire braking load on the truck alone. A Ford dealership had my vehicle for 2 weeks with no repairs done or guidance on when it would be repaired.

Jun 2022 BACK OVER PREVENTION The backup camera has been freezing off and on since buying the truck. When backing up, the camera will lag and then jump to the current picture the camera is showing. Earlier today, while backing up towards my trailer, the camera lagged causing me to run into the trailer. There was no damage to the truck or trailer, but is a safety issue if anyone crosses behind you while in reverse.

Jun 2022 POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER Driving down road at 45 mph as usual. Car suddenly shudders and as I pull to a stop car is stuck in neutral. Will not receive gas. Jan 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,LANE DEPARTURE Since the date of purchase (10/29/21) I am unable to change/set FM stations. Apps (ie: iHeart, Spotify) and voice command work intermittently. Apps will not work unless phone is plugged in. 911 assist will not work if not paired and connected to a Bluetooth enabled and compatible cell phone (see pg. 59 2022 Maverick owner’s manual). Unsure if lane keeping assistance is working properly. Vehicle was brought to Sam Galloway Ford on 10/30/21. Per Sam Galloway Ford: “Ford is aware of these problems. It is a ‘hardware’ issue.”
