Jul 2025 ENGINE 2.7l turbo l3b Chevy Silverado started skipping and throwing codes. First the coil packs and plugs were changed. Then crankshaft and camshaft sensors replaced. Then the fuel rail and direct injectors replaced along with harness . Still skipping and making loud noise on startup. Reduced power, etc. mechanic finally got the camshaft carrier off and the very back two exhaust rocker arms were in the carrier. One had lost all needle bearings and one seized up along with both valve lash adjusters broken in half along with one bent valve. As of today, 30 July 2025, I went to buy rocker arms, part # 12701225, and the dealership wouldn’t let me buy them because it’s supposedly getting discontinued so now I have a fairly new truck with no parts to complete repairs.

Jul 2025 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I am writing because we received a 2nd recall letter about our 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2. It has the recall for the catastrophic engine failure and neither GM or Chevrolet seem interested in helping us. The Chevrolet representative from the BBB said yesterday that we did not qualify for any thing, no buy back and no financial compensation. She has been the only person who did not try to straight up lie about the engine just dead stopping. We had that issue on [XXX], while on the way to Hickory, NC for a doctors appointment for my husband. He is a [XXX]. He served in Iraq and Afghanistan. [XXX]. He has to maintain a strict schedule, every thing done at the same time every day. Meals, showers, chores, bedtime etc. It calms him. I didn’t want him to buy a Chevy truck, but he fell instantly in love with it. He added a bed cover, 3in lift kit, tinted windows, 20in wheels and tires. A chip that opens up the horsepower and a cold air intake. He bought the truck new in July 2023, from Pioneer Chevy in Abingdon VA. So we are moving right along until 17 miles from Morganton Nc when the truck just stopped. We were on the back mountain road so no one was behind us. My husband was able to get the truck in neutral and roll it to a place where we could get off the road. We waited about 2 hours for a tow to Everett Chevrolet. They would not let us have a loaner car so the tow driver took us to Enterprise & waited to make sure we got a car. So none of this keeps him on his schedule. We went back to the Chevy place where the service manager said it would be the next day before he could look at the truck. He did tell us that the truck had the engine failure recall. We had no idea until then. Thankfully the doctor held a place for us, our appointment was at 11:45am but we didn’t get there till around 3:00. We saw the doctor, got food & headed home to TN. And I started contacting anyone INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Jul 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I was driving on the interstate at speed when the dash cluster stopped responding. All gauges went to zero including RPMs and speed. I was unable to determine if the engine was still running. The cluster was out for about 15 seconds and then began working again. By the time I had maneuvered to the side of the road, everything was normal again. The same failure happened a few days later.

Jul 2025 AIR BAGS,STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER While driving my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado, the vehicle suddenly veered to the right without any driver input, ultimately crashing into a concrete guardrail. At the time of the incident, I was merging into the left lane with my turn signal activated and traveling below the posted speed limit. According to the statement provided to my insurance company—and based on my direct experience—the truck appeared to take control of itself, and I could not prevent it from veering off the road. The impact caused significant front-end damage and triggered the deployment of the airbags. It is important to note that the lane keep assist feature was turned off at the time of the crash—we do not use or rely on this feature. Therefore, the event cannot be attributed to any automated steering correction system. The airbag deployment resulted in serious injuries to the front-seat passenger, who sustained severe burns and blistering to the right arm and hand. The injuries were substantial and are documented in photographs, which can be provided upon request. A VIN search confirmed that this vehicle has no active recalls. However, the circumstances of this crash suggest a potential malfunction in the electronic steering assist, throttle control, or transmission system. After the crash, the vehicle was towed to my insurance company’s preferred collision repair shop. However, I have not authorized any repairs or inspections. I specifically instructed the shop to delay all work until after I file this safety complaint and have the opportunity to request a third-party inspection. The vehicle remains in its post-crash condition, and to the best of my knowledge, the Event Data Recorder (EDR) has not been altered and should still contain valuable diagnostic data. I respectfully request that this incident be investigated as a potential vehicle safety defect. I am providing photographic evidence of the crash damage and resulting injuries.

Jul 2025 POWER TRAIN A search of your site shows I have no unrepaired recalls. That is not true. I had a software update the was intstalled to keep me from going above 7th gear in my 10 speed transmission due to concerns over incidents of transmission/rear end lockup occuring when downshifitng from 8th to 7th gear. This update was done November 27, 2022, at Juneau Toyota, Juneau Alaska 99801. While this is supposed to protect me from a transmission/rear end lockup, it has impacted me in MPG since this updated, especially when towing a travel trailer. My MPG while towing a travel trailer was decreased by 30%. My highway travel MPG has been decreased by 17%. Yes GM is saying they are protecting my self and vechicle, It is costing me a lot at the pump. It has been almost 8 months since the recall updated software was installed and not a word when this will be repaired and I have a 10 speed transmission I purchased from GM back in full operation.

It caused my truck to sway side to side and scare the hell out of my son. Definitely not safe. The local dealer says it is a stuck valve or something. It has caused the engine light to come on multiple times, but will go off after 24 hours or so. But it keeps occurring. Happened 3 times on 7-8-25. Give a whiplash feeling to the body as well. Jul 2025 ENGINE I have a 2022 Chevrolet 1500 Trail Boss with the 6.2. Intermittingly when starting off at a red light or from a stopped position, when you press the gas pedal to go the engine will stall and then will suddenly pick back up after a second or two. This intermittingly issue makes it very dangerous when turning in front of oncoming traffic, or in a situation when sudden acceleration is needed. The motor ticks even at idle when running. Also, when you come to a stop at a redlight, the engine shuts off, when you release the brake to go, the auto start restarts the engine. On my truck, when the starter restarts the engine, the starter will not disengage. You have to put the truck in park, turn the switch off and manually restart the engine to make the starter quit spinning over. This problem is also intermitting. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it dont. I took my truck to Mike Bell Chevrolet twice in Carrollton Georgia, where I bought it. The first time I took it to them was 2-10-25, it was for the starter hanging up in auto-start, they charged me $199.00 to do a diagnostic, told me they could not replicate the issue. Then I took it back to Mike Bell Chevrolet on 7-2-2025 after my wife had called the service department and told them that the engine stalls sometimes when starting off, the woman at Mike Bell said that this is one of the symptoms of the recall on my truck. She said we need to bring it in. They called me back and said they could not get it to replicate the issue and wanted to charge me another $399.00 for checking it. We refused to pay this because it is an active recall and we were advised to bring it in. If this engine stalls in traffic, I want it documented that the engine intermittingly stalls when starting off sometimes in case there is an accident.

Jul 2025 POWER TRAIN While driving at freeway speeds, my transmission malfunctioned and caused the rear wheels to briefly lock up. This sudden mechanical failure has occurred four separate times in the past month, each time while traveling at highway speeds. The incident creates a serious safety hazard — sudden rear-wheel lockup at high speeds can lead to loss of control, skidding, or collisions. Fortunately, I was spaced far enough from other vehicles during each occurrence, so no crashes or injuries occurred. However, this issue poses a major safety risk to both the driver and surrounding traffic, especially under different circumstances such as wet roads or heavier traffic. The issue appears to stem from the 10L80E transmission, a component widely used in GM vehicles from model years 2020 through 2025. Based on online forums and discussions, this is a known and recurring problem affecting a number of drivers, not just an isolated case. To date: The problem has not yet been diagnosed or confirmed by a dealer or service center, but it is reproducible, as it has happened multiple times under similar conditions. There were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to each failure — the malfunction occurred without notice. The component is not yet inspected by the manufacturer, insurance, or police, but it is available for inspection upon request. This issue requires urgent investigation by NHTSA, as it may affect a large number of vehicles on U.S. roads. A sudden drivetrain lockup at highway speeds could lead to catastrophic crashes under less fortunate circumstances I am aware of the Safety recall for vehicle years of 2020 -2022 but my specific truck manufacture date falls just outside the dates by a couple months.

Jul 2025 POWER TRAIN Travel aprox 40 mph. Rear wheels abruptly lock up. Truck skids to a stop. Extremely dangerous situation luckily no accident occurred. Truck is at 72k miles. Warranty is 60k miles. Truck is currently at dealership and they consulted GM engineers at corporate and were told to replace the valve body and it’s $2500 but they will not cover any of the cost. I’m afraid that this wheel lockup will happen again. Especially considering the bandaid fix there recommended. They refused to buy the vehicle back and do not seem the least concerned that my safety possible dead could result from what truly is gm cheaping out on manufacturing the value body from an appropriate metal instead of cheap cast aluminum which is the root cause of all gms transmission issues.

Jul 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 multiflex tailgate main tailgate unlock/open button has stopped working. The dealership (Marine Chevy Jacksonville NC)stated that they have had to replace alot of them even on the 1500 series. They are now on back order with no expected availability date. Yes my vehicle is available for inspection. Requires the use of the key fob to unlock. I do not know why it has stopped working is it a wiring issue? If it is a wiring issue it should not go out on a vehicle that is less than 3 years old. Also could this cause other electrical issues.

Jul 2025 ENGINE I am submitting a formal complaint regarding the failure of the 6.2L V8 engine in my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (VIN: [XXX] ), which is currently under recall (NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000). On Thursday, [XXX], while traveling for work approximately 30 minutes from my home, the engine suddenly failed without warning—just two days after I received the recall notice from GM, which acknowledged the defect but stated there was no current fix available. Fortunately, I was able to safely pull over and was within sight of Hometown Motors (Chevrolet dealership in Fruitland, ID), but still had to pay $100 out-of-pocket to have the truck towed less than 1/4 mile. The dealership later confirmed the engine had failed and ordered a replacement, with an estimated repair time of three weeks. I use this truck daily for my small business, where I co-own and operate a window covering company. The truck is a critical part of my business, used to transport tools, ladders, and product samples. GM and the dealership delayed the rental approval process by two full days, and once finally approved, I was informed by Enterprise that it would be another three days before a vehicle would be available—and it would not be comparable to the Silverado I purchased for over $50,000. As of today, I still do not have a comparable rental vehicle, and I’ve been given multiple excuses as to why one can’t be provided. I cannot operate my business using a small sedan. This engine failure has caused direct financial loss, business disruption, and a complete loss of reliable transportation for work. GM’s failure to provide a timely solution to a known defect is unacceptable, and I urge the NHTSA to investigate the handling of this recall and the lack of appropriate remedies for owners affected—especially those like myself who rely on these vehicles for commercial use. Jun 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM My backup camera has never worked properly since I purchased the vehicle. 7 out of 10 times when I put my truck in reverse, the camera does not work. I’ve had to at the dealership multiple times, the first time the vehicle was under warranty and the dealership “couldn’t replicate the issue” while the vehicle was with them for 2 days, which is impossible. Now, the vehicle is out of warranty and all of a sudden, since I am on the hook to pay them for the diagnostic service, they were able to “fix” the issue, for a day. I picked up my vehicle, everything seemed to work until the next morning, when the issue popped back up and now the camera itself seems to work, but there are no guidelines and there is an hourglass at the top left of my screen. I mentioned this issue of the guidelines being non existent as well as the hourglass, showed the dealership videos and they can’t seem to figure it out, seems as if there is a major issue after researching online this same issue for multiple years. After that amount of time how is there no resolution? This issue, along with my engine making weird noises, is not something that anyone should get when purchasing a vehicle that is $70k or more. After researching, I found there is an issue with my model year vehicle and the engine I have and that I also mentioned to them and that I was feeling as if there are issues with the engine and it being very jerky, along with the noises and that claim I made was simply dismissed and they said they are aware but there’s nothing they can do, and this is a “GM issue, not us” I basically have a lemon but there’s nothing that can be done and I am nervous something bad is going to happen with my vehicle and they mentioned the best they can do is to possibly put a heavier weight oil in and “hope it helps” absolutely ridiculous.

Jun 2025 ENGINE At 53,000 miles the Coolant Control Valve has failed 2 times. A very common problem many owners have had. 1st CCV replaced at 45,000, second lasted less than 10,000 miles. Truck is forced into “reduced acceleration”. Part is on back order with no estimated ship date. Some owners are reporting wait times of 3 months or more. No loaner provided, was told truck is “safe to drive”. With reduced acceleration the truck struggles to get up to speed and has hard time maintaining even 65mph. It’s compounded when towing, making it near impossible to maintain pace with highway traffic. My vehicle is basically rendered useless as I use it regularly for highway commute and also towing. The vehicle may be “safe” in that it won’t blow up, but it’s certainly not safe to drive when it can’t maintain even the speed limit. If a quick acceleration is needed to avoid something it’s not capable of doing that.

Jun 2025 POWER TRAIN I have had several check engine lights come on and the codes are for emission related issues. I made an appointment with the local chevy dealership to get the emission system looked at. However, the day before I was to take it in, I was driving and the truck dropped into "Low power mode" leaving me driving on the highway with no acceleration at all. I finally limp to the dealership only to tell me the valve body is shot and this has been a problem in these vehicles. They then tell me the parts are backordered and there is no ETA to fix. I start researching on the internet and this is a huge known issue and there should be a recall. Now I am stuck in a 10-year-old loaner with 130k miles. They know this is an issue, they should have a recall and the parts available.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled four times. The vehicle was restarted each time after stalling, but the engine made abnormal sounds. The "Shift to Neutral" message was displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,950. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Jun 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE I was driving my truck with my two young children in the back seat. I was accelerating to merge onto the interstate, and at 8th gear (around 74 MPH) I felt and heard a BANG and lost all propulsion, as if the transmission went into neutral. I revved several times and had no power to the wheels. I had to quickly check traffic behind me and find a place to stop on the side of a busy interstate, with two young children in the truck. While decelerating, I had no engine power and the transmission shifted from D to N to P while I was still moving - although it felt like it was still in N. As the truck decelerated, the engine shut off while in motion (around 30-40mph) and I came to a stop. As I was coming to a stop, I noticed I had a solid CEL/MIL along with several other warnings. I was unable to crank the truck - crank but no start - and unable to shift from P. Had I not been able to find a safe place to stop (e.g., in heavy traffic on the interstate or in city traffic) I surely would have been involved in an accident. When trying to tow the truck to the dealer, I had no way to get the truck out of P to load onto the tow truck flat bed. Subsequent attempts (at the Chevy dealer) to remove the truck from the tow truck flat bed were unsuccessful, as the truck would not shift from P nor crank. This was a severe safety issue which I am not sure is powertrain, electrical, or emission related but it could have ended in a severe crash on the interstate with my children. There were no indications of any sort of malfunction or issue except for when I immediately heard and felt the bang and lost propulsion on the interstate. I drove the truck earlier in the week without issue and there were no MIL's immediately prior to the incident. The truck is at Jimmy Gray Chevrolet, Southaven, MS awaiting evaluation and diagnosis.

Jun 2025 POWER TRAIN On May 3, 2025 my truck would not go into reverse leaving me stranded 250 miles from my home. There was no indication the transmission was having problems (no warning lights and the truck was driving as designed). Then boom -- nothing. I was left stranded on a Saturday evening in a rough part of Detroit putting my safety at risk due to this sudden malfunction. The truck was taken to a GM dealer and had the transmission valve body replaced. Upon the repair, I drove the 250 miles back home. During this trip the torque convertor failed - again leaving the vehicle non operatable. The vehicle went back to the dealer and the torque convertor was replaced. About 1 week later the transmission valve body (that was originally replaced) failed again leaving the vehicle non operatable and me stranded again. I am now being told that transmission valve bodies are on national back order with no eta leaving me without transportation. Leaving a customer stranded multiple times despite replacing several major transmission components created a substantial safety risk to me and my family.
