I had the original engine up until approx 80k in mileage when it failed, I was on a dark country road doing approximately 50mph and the propulsion system failed and the truck shut off, being a country road, I had minimum breaking and minimal steering. I had my [XXX] son in the car, we ended up in a culvert and I scraped either a large rock or a piece of concrete that sometimes line culverts, it did damage. At the time, until recently, I had no idea I should report this. I did know that GM had issued a recall and I believed the engineer would be covered, which it was. I never reported the damage to insurance as I didn't want my ins to go up anymore, so I have not fixed it yet. My [XXX] old was scared beyond belief. Anyhow, Williams Chevy in Elkton, Md replaced the engine free of any cost. I believe the dates are approx to be 9/26 to 10/25/ 2025.On or about 11/25 or 26th 2025, with approx 2k miles on the newly installed 6.2 liter engine, while traveling with my [XXX] son, I experienced another catastrophic engine failure.This time we were traveling on 896 in Delaware and rt 40. While crossing over, the car cut off completely again while traveling at 50mph. We barely avoided a collision on the other side of the intersection with merging traffic, I applied the Manuel breaks along with the power steering was out too. My spouse was angry that GM is still doing this knowing this could be the result.Upon the 2nd installation, I dropped the truck off on the above date. It took until 1/5/26 bor approx 1/9/26.On approx 2/12/26 I had the oil changed at a local jiffy lube. This was conducted at 3400 miles, less than the manufacturer suggests with the new 40w oil. Anyhow, yet again, my truck had zero rewarding on the dipstick. I have paperwork for both engine installs and the jiffy lube paperwork documenting the no reading on the dip stick.I am a disabled veteran and this is an unsafe and unreliable fix from GM. | Feb 2026 | ENGINE | Brought my 2022 Chevy Silverado 6.2 L engine into dealership for Safety Recall N252494001 L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion. Engine passed this initial inspection, Oil, Oil Filter and Oil cap was changed and was sent on my way. February 4th, 2026, Engines lost propulsion while traveling at highway speed, (75mph) causing a serious safety concern with rush hour traffic. After pulling over to the side of the highway, I reset the truck by cycling the ignition and was able to start the truck. On February 5th, 2026, Engine lost propulsion again at neighborhood speed, (20) in a construction site. Truck was blocking traffic at this point. Engine was unable to be started, transmission was locked in Parked and unable to be shifted. Had to have truck "dragged" out of traffic. Dealership was notified that I had possible catastrophic engine failure. I was advised by dealership to have it towed, at my expense to them. Truck was towed at a cost of $196 out of pocket. Tow cost an extra $50 due to the electronic shift no allowing for transmission to be shifted into neutral or linkage to be released by tow company. February 6th, 2026, dealership notified me that the engine had a catastrophic failure and would need to be replaced. Dealership has motor but trying to source one time use parts that were currently unavailable. No time frame given on sourcing those parts as of February 10th, 2026. Dealership/GM arranged for a rental car but financial limits set by GM does not include the ability to be given a truck as a rental. I am in construction and need a truck and have a once in a lifetime trip coming up March 13th. I am in need of a truck for the trip to haul my SxS and gear to another state. Very frustrated at GM for doing a piss poor job on rectifying the engine issue in the L87. During these incidents, the truck experienced a sudden loss of engine power and electrical functionality while in motion. The vehicle either significantly reduced power or shut down unexpectedly, creating an immediate safety hazard. The failure appears to involve the electrical system and/or powertrain, as dashboard functions and vehicle response were affected at the same time as the loss of propulsion. In at least one incident, this occurred at driving speed, placing me and other motorists at risk of a collision due to the sudden loss of acceleration and reduced ability to maneuver safely. No prior warning lamps or messages consistently appeared before the failure. The incidents occurred without warning. The problem is intermittent and has happened more than once, increasing concern that the defect may worsen or result in a crash. This issue represents a serious safety risk because loss of power while driving can lead to loss of control, rear-end collisions, or inability to safely move out of traffic. | Feb 2026 | ENGINE | On 2/5/2026, the 6.2 liter L87 engine in my 2022 ZR2 Silverado locked up and is currently located at Edwards Chevrolet on highway 280 in Birmingham, AL. While on I-65 in Birmingham, AL. and prior to locking up, the engine power decreased, and RPM's increased, followed by a dash message that oil temperature is high; pull over and idle. After idling the engine the dash message disappeared and oil pressure was good. We drove approx. 1.5 miles to a parking lot where the engine seized or locked up. The truck was towed to the above referenced dealership. The dealership confirmed the engine was locked up the next day. During the Summer of 2025, the dealership inspected the engine and performed an oil consumption test after I reported the engine had burned two quarts of oil between oil changes. The rear backup camera view remains stuck ON while driving forward in DRIVE at speeds over 20 mph, including highway speeds. The system also cycles between screens (including switching to the camera view), and the infotainment freezes and becomes unresponsive (loss of screen/control). Audio playback and hands-free calls become staticky/distorted. These events create a serious driver distraction and safety risk while driving. This has occurred multiple times, including during long-distance driving, and has been significant enough that I have had to pull over to the side of the road multiple times. In multiple incidents, the system did not recover until I pulled a fuse to reset/shut down the system so I could continue driving safely. The unit remains powered ON after the vehicle is turned OFF and exited. There is also a history of battery drain/no-start events requiring jump starts. No warning lights or warning messages are displayed before or during the failure; the system becomes unresponsive and behaves unpredictably. The problem is intermittent and has occurred multiple times over the life of the vehicle, including after a head unit replacement. Message would clear after the truck was restarted. Message came back occasionally over the next few months. After checking the codes I found a P0747 code indicating a problem with the transmission valve body: solinoid A stuck on. I opted to fix it myself by installing a valve body upgrade kit from NextGen Drivetrain. GM valve body is worthless. A $70,000+ truck should be more reliable. Had to have it towed to Chevy dealer. They weren’t sure what problem was— starter and battery indicated ok. However we had them install new ones just in case. We’ve seen on our searches of the internet that this is not a new problem. Just today it died again on me as I was driving in town, but did start again. I travel quite a bit and am worried it will die on me again in this crazy cold weather! Chevy needs to acknowledge this issue with the 6.2 motor!
