| Sep 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Transmission will not shift to park from drive or reverse on first attempt. It takes several attempts to put vehicle into park after it has been stopped. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | As I was exiting a highway offramp after about (4) hours of driving, the Infotainment radio went to full volume as I was listening to music either on Spotify (through Apple Car Play) or Sirius XM, I can't remember. It startled me to the point I almost rear-ended the car in front of me. As fast as I was trying to turn the volume down with the steering wheel controls, it went right up to 100% faster. The mute button on the dash did not work, I finally was able to hit the pause button on the app., and eventually fiddled with the infotainment system until the volume controls returned to normal. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | On more than one occasion, the vehicle jolted forward when going to accelerate from being stopped at a red light. It felt like the vehicle was rear ended by a vehicle behind (it was not) to give some perspective. The last time it happened, the engine shut down but the dash stayed on, and the dash would not turn off, nor would the engine restart. The Chevrolet dealership which it was towed to is stating that the wires from the engine wire harness are chaffing and that the entire engine wire harness needs to be replaced. Additionally, there is a service bulletin posted by GM indicating that the proper repair for this is to replace the engine wire harness and add additional protection, which is a clear indication of faulty engineering to begin with. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission valve cover and yes available for inspection. It wouldn’t shift gears causing me to drive only 10mph. It has been reproduced. Not inspected and the check engine light came on when the vehicle started to shudder. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | STRUCTURE | I purchased this car on 7/15/24 and had no problems until 8/8/24 after I took my car through an automatic touchless car wash. Upon exiting the car wash, I noticed that the tailgate was now down even though I never unlocked it. I parked the car and closed the tailgate and began driving home. Halfway home, the tailgate opened again on its on. The bed was empty so I continued driving home and then closed it again. Later that night, I went out to take the garbage cans out to the street and again noticed the tailgate was down. I again closed it. The next morning, I went to go to work and the tailgate was again down. This would be a serious safety issue if I had items in the bed of my truck and the tailgate opened while driving. I searched this issue online and found that there are recalls for this exact issue in other trims of this truck but the recalls don't cover my trim. I took it to the dealer where I purchased it and they are looking into fixing it. I want you to know that this is an issue as well for this trim. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back in again and the local dealer diagnosed a failure related to the radiator. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 31,000 |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Hello, I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden the engine made a noise then the dash alerted me to shift into neutral/press start. I had to pull off the highway in single lane traffic and call for a tow. The truck was towed to the dealership. The truck lost power on the highway in single lane and there was no ability for other cars to go around me in a 75mph zone due to construction. The dealer diagnosis is that the motor is locked up and will require full replacement at only 70k miles. It is within years on powertrain but out due to mileage. There were no symptoms until the truck engine locked itself up. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN | The Transmission is stuck in 2nd gear, and won’t reverse. I bought the truck used from dealership. There is a GM Technical Bulletin, that states the vehicle is/was not to have been sold, prior to having the Transmission control Module replaced. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | WHEELS,AIR BAGS | The contact owned a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at approximately 10 MPH and coming to a stop light, inadvertently the front driver-side wheel detached from the vehicle, which led her to collide with a vehicle that was parked on the right side. As a result, all of the underneath of the vehicle was damaged. The contact stated that the wheel flew away and fell in front of the driver attempting to turn to the right and also causing a collision. There were no warning lights illuminated, and no strange sounds were noticed before the failure. The airbags in the vehicle failed to deploy. There were five people in the vehicle during the incident. The contact and his wife suffered from injuries in the chest which required medical attention. The contact also stated that his daughter suffered from chest pain and his grandson from knee pain. The other people involved in the accident suffered minor injuries, and they were only interested in getting paid for the damages. The contact also stated that the vehicle was previously taken to an unknown local dealer for a strange sound emanating from the wheel; however, no failure was found. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately unknown. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 5 Towed Medical attention | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Bought the truck brand new and the transmission hard shifts in every gear. Has been in and out of the dealership nonstop for the past 2 years for electrical issues with the radio, an oil sensor wiring issue, and the dealership is trying to say 5 modules are out in the truck. They only posted 3 modules and they were transfer case module, power steering module, and body control module. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN | I bought this truck with 0 miles and I purchase an extended warranty for $4000 DLS from the dealership to cover until 150000 miles and on January 2024 The transmission broke down I took in into the dealership for repairs and they have not been able to repaired and they keep giving me the round around every day is been 6 months that I been paying for a vehicle that I can’t drive and neither the dealership or the extended warranty company can fixed I need your help please thank you and gb | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | POWER TRAIN | As I drive down road at speed limit. Transmission control module shuts down and the truck loses speed to where it's a safety problem that the cars behind you almost hits you as you have to coast of the road. It has happened to many times. I took it to dealerships. But I had to shop around from county to county to find one that would fix the problem. They dealership wouldn't fix while under warranty. Know that I have finally found a dealership in another county. They have ho parts to fix it. But I'm stuck with a bill that while under warranty the problem exists. The biggest thing is that once I found this dealership. They informed me that this is ongoing problem with GM. They had about 7 others in shop with the same problem and no parts. I don't understand while there is no recall to fix this problem that exists. Trying to make me pay my truck payment plus spend monthly money on renter cars. That's about $2000 a month extra. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | Periodically at low speeds my transmission will hard shift. This causes my vehicle to lurch forward. This has happened several times to me. I have taken it to my Chevrolet dealership and have been told that this is a known problem but nothing they the dealership can do about it! I can only speculate but they are waiting for GM to make a decision on what must be done. I believe the transmission is mechanically faulty. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | STEERING | I'm frequently seeing a "Service Power Steering. Drive with Care" message on my dashboard. This has happened multiple times (e.g., 6-8 times) on single 20-mile drive during heavy downpour . I had the issue checked immediately by the dealer. While they couldn't replicate the exact scenario (they only saw the message once), they did apply a pending software update. Unfortunately, the message reappeared after a few days and continues to come and go sporadically. Several other vehicle owners have also reported this message online, but there seems to be no clear explanation yet. Interestingly, I've noticed the message seems to correlate more frequently with using the 120V outlet for powering accessories. Given this "programmed message" likely triggers based on specific scenarios, there must be identifiable conditions causing it. The message appears at various speeds (city/highway) and during both straight driving and turns. I'm sharing this information to raise awareness and encourage others experiencing this issue to contact their dealership. By reporting similar situations, we can hopefully push for a proper diagnosis and solution. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Engine started misfiring at 33,000 miles, dealer replaced fuel injector still happening. Now they are breaking down the engine to check the cam shaft, I guess I will see my truck in 2 - 3 weeks. Front collision warning not working properly for the second time within a year. Dealer says they are replacing the camera. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2024 | ENGINE | The contact owned a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH, an abnormal, burning plastic odor began to emit from the vehicle coming to a complete stop. As the contact made a left turn, the contact's passenger noticed flames coming from underneath the hood of the engine. The contact and the passenger both immediately exited the vehicle upon pulling off to the shoulder of the road. The contact stated that they were unaware if any warning lights had appeared on the instrument panel during the failure. The contact lifted the hood and saw that flames had engulfed the entire passenger side of the engine bay. Authorities were called to the scene and the fire department extinguished the fire. Both a police report and a fire report were filed. No injuries were reported during the fire incident. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic but was later towed to an undisclosed location by the contact's insurance company. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but neither offered the contact any assistance. The vehicle was destroyed as a result of the fire. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000. | Crash: No Fire: Yes Towed | 39,000 |
| May 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES | Brake failure warning notification and brakes went soft without warning. Almost rear ended vehicle in front of me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | While driving, my Bose radio system went to full volume and would not respond. I tried to turn the radio off but the power button would not work. I tried to turn the volume down using both the volume knob and the volume controls on the steering wheel with negative results. If I turned the volume knob fast enough, I could get the volume to turn down, but I had to continually keep turning the knob counter-clockwise else the volume would return to full volume. I was able to pull off the road and I turned the truck off. I turned the truck back on but the volume was still at full volume. I let the truck sit around 10 minutes and was able to drive it again with normal volume. I called my dealer, Bob Jass Chevrolet in Elburn IL to report the incident. Erin said to bring the truck in to have it reprogrammed. This happened once before - summer 2023. Bob Jass Chevrolet reprogrammed it on [XXX]. Other owners have reported having this issue in the Silverado Truck forums. When this happens it is a major distraction, and it will result in someone crashing because of it. Component: Bose sound system. It is available for inspection with proper notice Safety at risk: The volume goes to full volume instantly without warning and can't be turned down. The truck must rest approximately 10 minutes to return to normal. Problem reproduced: When I reported this to the dealer in June 2023 Erin advised this has happened to other owners and she wasn't surprised. Component inspected: Bob Jass Chevrolet service department has reprogrammed the Bose sound system once before but the problem happened again on [XXX]. Warnings: No warnings - the volume jumps to full volume instantly without warning. | Apr 2024 | ENGINE | Known exhaust leak issues from under the truck as well as under the hood allowing raw exhaust to enter the cab. CO levels increase to a unsafe level while leak is present. Dealer who looked at the issues states the exhaust leak is "normal". Worried about CO poisoning causing drowsiness and potential accidents being blamed on driving tired where reality is this is a byproduct of CO exposure. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | ENGINE | Driving on busy road and the engine cut off completely without warning on a busy Highway. The first time it happened vehicle could be restarted and get to dealership and no code and unable to figure out the cause. Second time driving again on a busy road and happened on a curve and it shut down and would not restart and then had to wait for a tow and call for police to help due to busy traffic area as well. Engine has to be completely replaced. Vehicle only has 24000 miles and is 2022. Now I’m told it needs new engine and it has been 4 weeks and backordered…how has this not been a safety issue already and a concern prior? GM should be doing more. I’m concerned to get this truck back and have the same problem again. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The tailgate has become disengaged on 3 or 4 separate occurrences. I see there is a problem and a recall for 2020-24 vehicles although our vehicle is not in the recall. The problem I am having is the same as the recall. I am looking for some assistance because my issue is the same as the recall and my warrantee is about to expire. The recall covers certain 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles that have power unlatching tailgates. The problem occurs if water has leaked into the tailgate's electronic gate-release switch. The electronic switch may short circuit, resulting in the tailgate unlatching. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Several times since I bought this truck new, the front turn signals fail. The blinker starts blinking very fast and if flashes a message to check the front turn signal. This has happened with both sides. Took it to the dealer 2x with a video of the dash and they say they cannot reproduce the problem. The internet is full of people with the same problems. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, and while the vehicle was parked, the tailgate opened unintendedly. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he was able to monitor the tailgate through the rearview camera. The contact stated that he could only close the tailgate manually when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 36,500. | Crash: No Fire: No | 36,500 |
| Mar 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | I was driving on [XXX] where the speed limit varies from 65-75 MPH. I hit 70mph and randomly the truck jolted and dropped down to 40mph without warning. Cars swerved to avoid hitting me and I was shaken. I called the dealership who said there are no recalls and nothing to worry about, but call if it happens again. Two days later I was driving up to Pa from TN. 7 hours away from home and also on [XXX] and the truck did it again 3 times in a row. The truck was bouncing all over the highway and people trying their best to avoid me. I managed to get off but did hit and go over something when I was getting off the highway. I took the back streets and found a dealer. The transmission needs to be replaced the think, on a 2 year old truck with 50k miles. Apparently factory caused electrical issues. This truck has been an electrical nightmare since we purchased it. They need to issue a recall with all the transmission and engine issues that Chevy is experiencing. | Mar 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,VISIBILITY/WIPER | When my windshield wipers and headlights have been on for an extended period of time, they tend to cut out. My lights will flicker one time and my windshield wipers freeze for a brief second. Also my vehicle has around 36,000mi and recently a “monitor brake pads” has popped up. I have looked at my brakes and they have plenty of life left. I am not sure what to do. My truck should not be “glitching” and having electrical problems, especially with the amount of money it costs. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
