| May 2025 | LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the tailgate latch independently unlocked. The contact stated that the failure had occurred whenever the latch became wet from rainfall. In addition, the contact stated property was lost off the back of the vehicle due to the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The dealer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. | May 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is unable recognize that it has been placed in park consistently, essentially trapping us in the vehicle until the "Shift to Park" error gets corrected. After shifting the vehicle into park and pressing the button to turn off the vehicle, an error comes up on the dash saying "Shift to Park". In order to clear this error and have the vehicle recognize that it is safely parked, we must turn the vehicle back on, put the vehicle in reverse or drive, and depress the gas pedal to move the vehicle slightly, shift the vehicle to park again, wait at least 30 seconds to a minute, and then finally press the button to turn off the vehicle. And we must repeat this anywhere from 3 to 15 times until the brakes safely engage to park the vehicle. I worry that the vehicle wont safely go into park and will roll away on its own. This is the same error that was reported for other GM models recently and is affecting the safety, reliability, usability, and longevity of this vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | ENGINE,LANE DEPARTURE | The blind spot notification light on driver door mirror stays on while driving.. the engine sputters and makes noise while driving over 45 mph | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | ENGINE | Engine seized at 89,872 miles. Spun rod bearings, Spent a Month and a half waiting for a new motor. Motor was replaced and engine seized again at 10,000 miles. I had extended warranty that at first denied the claim but wound up paying. When the Motor seized a second time I traded the vehicle in. But at a significant cost to me as I would have kept that vehicle if it hadn't of had the Motor issues. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the lifters had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. The VIN was not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | 30,000 |
| May 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | April 2023 experienced loss of power and eventually would not start at all. (8k miles) Was at the dealer for just over 3 months and had motor replaced. April 2025 valve body on the transmission went out and was at the dealer a week and a half. (15K miles) Currently experiencing loss of tailgate function and an error message on the screen saying "caution reduced speed". (17,400 miles) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My vehicle has 43K miles and I just got a p1098 code. I took it to a local mechanic and they have determined that the Engine coolant Control Valve Position Sensor is not functioning. This is causing the fan to run at 100% at all times. I am also getting a message on the dash stating that the vehicle is in reduced acceleration mode. When doing my research I have found that this part is failing on multiple Silverado's. The part is on national back order and the dealership won't answer any questions regarding warranty. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | POWER TRAIN | My Chevrolet Truck was purchased brand new with under a thousand miles on it. I was driving and the sensor went out at about 45,000 miles then the other sensor went out two days later. 15 thousand miles later my transmission went out. Was at the dealership for 6 months. Now I have the vehicle back and still isn’t driving correctly. Shifting problems | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Vehicle transmission stopped. Was at an intersection light turned green hit gas pedal vehicle moved 6”. Pushed throttle to floor and vehicle was jerking back and forth. No warning lights ever came on dash. I ended up getting stuck in intersection for 4 light cycles. Throttle to floor entire time jerking forward 6” at a time. People blowing horns at me entire time while I was helpless in a extremly busy intersection. Luckily a dealership was right around corner and was able to limp it into lot. Dealer had no loaner cars. Told me to come back. Went to leave and truck would not back out of parking lot. Truck was at dealer for nearly 3 months. Missed out on camping trips do to lack of truck. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | POWER TRAIN | I was driving the truck and it just stopped moving like the vehicle was in neutral. My safety really wasnt put at risk, other then I couldn't move out of the way of other traffic The truck is at simmons and rockwell dealership waiting to be fixed due to the part being on backorder. My check engine light was on but when the garage I usually take my vehicles to put it on a machine to tell them what was wrong with it. It came up with a different issue then the light went out. I just got it back from the garage that same day the control valve went. The garage put it back on the machine and then it said transmission issues. I then had it towed to the dealership. Where the truck is now waiting to be fixed. Thankfully this is covered under my powertrain warranty. I just wanted to report this because I seen alot of the same year different motor chevrolet trucks were recalled for this same part. I just bought this truck less then 3 months ago I am thankful for the warranty. If this is a common issue hopefully me reporting mine saves someone in the future. Thank you | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Apr 2025 | ENGINE | On March 29, 2025, I was driving my 2022 ZR2 approximately 55mph around a winding road when the vehicle suddenly shut down. No warning lights or other indicators alerted me to impending failure. My 81-year-old mother was in the truck with me at the time. By the grace of God I was able to get the truck pulled over. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where it was diagnosed with engine seized. I have a wife and almost 4 year old daughter. Now that I know about this issue and am reading all of the reports, I no longer trust this truck with my family's lives. We are single income and this has hit us financially. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When shut off and put in park it will not allow the truck to turn all they way off because it says it’s not in park. I’ve read that there has been several issues with this is the dealer charges anywhere between $900-$1500 to attempt to fix but people are saying it doesn’t. Also there is no dip stick to check transmission fluid. And apparently even ase certified mechanics can’t check the fluid levels | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Within the last couple of days, my truck went into limp home mode 3 times, "Reduced Acceleration Drive with Care", check engine light on, right after the truck jerked a few times while it was shifting. Each time the message went away after a re-start but the check engine light was still on. Now the truck also has another message, "Service Transmission Now unable to shift soon". again after the truck jerking while the trans was shifting. I only have 15,781 miles on the truck and it is less than 3 years old. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ENGINE | CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, REDUCED ENGINE POWER, COOLING FANS ON HIGH SPEED DEALER ADVISED NEEDS A COOLANT FLOW CONTROL VALVE REPAIR PARTS NOT AVAILABLE, SEVERAL VEHICLES WAITING ON SAME PART | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ENGINE | Vehicle: 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trail Boss, 6.2L V8 L87 engine Date of Incident: Friday, April 19, 2025 Mileage at Time of Failure: ~30,000 miles Location: Route 1 (high-traffic highway) While driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly shut down without warning. The RPMs dropped to zero, and I had to quickly merge across lanes with no engine power, creating a serious safety risk to myself and other drivers. There were no warning lights, sounds, or prior symptoms before the failure. I had the truck towed at my own expense to a trusted mechanic, who confirmed that the engine had seized. It has since been transferred to a certified GM dealership for teardown and repair. This failure appears consistent with ongoing reports and an active NHTSA investigation into the 6.2L V8 L87 engine, specifically related to oil pump failure and oversized lifter bores, which can cause catastrophic engine failure without warning. I am concerned about the future reliability of this vehicle, especially since powertrain warranty coverage is limited. Had I known about these known engine issues, I would not have purchased this vehicle. I will be notifying my bank, which holds the lien, as this situation also impacts the value and security of their asset. I intend to request part numbers and full documentation from the dealership to ensure the engine is not replaced with the same potentially defective components. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ENGINE | Engine stalled out at 60mph Had put vehicle in Neutral and pull off the road In process no notification of an issue at all | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ENGINE | Transmission or motor exploited | Crash: No Fire: Yes | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ENGINE | Lots of noise from engine. Truck shutdown while on highway going at high speed. It got towed to dealer for engine replacement. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that the fuse block C1 wire had melted and damaged the battery. The dealer replaced the fuse block, C1 wire, and battery; however, the contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the engine made an abnormal sound. The dealer was made aware of the failure, but the vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE25001 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,300. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 16,300 |
| Apr 2025 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the engine seized. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine had seized and was not able to crank or turn over. The vehicle was at the dealer awaiting the repair. | Apr 2025 | POWER TRAIN | My truck (2022 Silverado with ~37k mileage) suddenly went into limp mode and gave me a reduced engine power message, along with an ignited check engine light. As soon as this happened, I also received an email stating that there was a diagnostic alert for my vehicle requiring immediate attention (Engine and Transmission System). I immediately called the shop and took it in for diagnostics. I am told it is a valve body issue. It seems that this is a known issue, and it seems extremely dangerous for these faulty parts to be on the road. Thank you in advance for keeping our roads safe and making sure the car companies are held accountable for their faulty systems. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
