| Apr 2025 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 50-55 MPH, the vehicle shut off. The driver was able to coast over to the side of the road. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine had seized and needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 43,000 |
| Apr 2025 | POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | At ~51,000 miles, my 2022 Silverado Trail Boss 6.2L L87 experienced a sudden engine failure while on / exiting the highway. The engine began shaking violently, the check engine light flashed, and it lost all power without warning. It was towed and remained out of service for 28 days. The dealer diagnosed lifter delamination, a scored camshaft, and scored cam, main, and rod bearings. Metal shavings were found in the engine, indicating internal contamination. Despite the severity, the manufacturer approved only an engine overhaul, not a full replacement. The service manager stated, “it’s nearly impossible to get these motors,” pointing to a national shortage due to widespread failures of the 6.2L engine platform. After picking up the vehicle, I immediately noticed a rattling noise from underneath. I returned to the dealer (who also failed to recharge the AC system). They traced the noise to the catalytic converter and muffler and quoted $2,709.24 to replace the full exhaust system. The manufacturer refused to cover the repair, even though the issue appeared immediately after the engine failure. The dealer did not confirm the exact cause, but possible contributing factors include combustion instability, engine misfires, unburned fuel, and extreme vibration during the failure. These conditions can severely impact the exhaust system and emissions components. I was quoted nearly $4,000 for an extended warranty, which I now feel pressured to buy due to loss of confidence in the engine. Metal debris may have affected the oiling system, injectors, or other critical parts. This raises serious safety concerns: sudden power loss at highway speed, compromised emissions components, and the risk of future failures. With the 6.2L under NHTSA investigation, I believe this incident supports further review or recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Unknown The tailgate keeps opening on its own | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while pulling into the driveway at approximately 5 MPH, the vehicle started shaking abnormally. The following day, while attempting to reverse out of the driveway, the transmission failed to shift into reverse. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with valve body failure. The vehicle was scheduled to have the valve body replaced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000. feb 3 | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 24,000 |
| Apr 2025 | LANE DEPARTURE | The blind spot warning has been a non stop issue with my truck. It frequently stops working and when it stops working the only indication is a short maybe 3 second message in the driver information center that goes away without the driver having to acknowledge it so it very easy to miss. Sometimes you see this when starting up the truck other times it might be working and then just stop working as you are driving down the highway. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ENGINE | The first incident the truck had 11,000 miles on it. Engine had to be replaced and took almost 3 months. The truck completely cut off driving down the interstate. It just happened again truck has 86,000 miles on it and it happened again. Truck lost all power and completely shut off going down the road at night, on the side of a high rise bridge. Now they have no idea when it can be replaced because it’s a nationwide problem with the 6.2 liter engine. Both times my family has been in this truck and it completely loses power. GM needs to be held responsible and fix this issue. I’m on motor number 2 truck has 80,000 miles on it. Truck was repaired the first time at Walt Massey GMC Chevrolet in Lucedale, MS. The truck is sitting at the same dealership right now | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ENGINE | Engine seized up while traveling on interstate at about 75 mph. No warnings. No lights. Just no power and a message on the dash instructing me to restart the engine. This was at the tail end of a 6.5 hour road trip. I was able to put it in neutral and coast to safety. Luckily it was not in a high traffic area. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V797000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 90,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 90,000 |

| Apr 2025 | ENGINE | Truck with 32,496 miles began to shift in a strange manner, the engine then shutoff with no warning while traveling at highway speeds. The truck shifted into neutral and I was able to coast to the side of the road. I had the truck towed to the dealer and they found that the oil pump had failed and that it spun the 6 and 7 rod end bearings and the number 4 main bearing. The truck has the L87 6.2 liter V8. The engine stopped on 12/29/2024 and the truck was towed to the dealer. The truck was at the dealer until 3/28/2025. The truck was at the dealer for this amount of time due the GM having a national back-order on the engine. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Apr 2025 | POWER TRAIN | When the vehicle is completely stopped, shifted to the park position, ignition turned off, the motor will stop running but an error come up on the dash " shift to park" and the horn start chirping and the instrument panel, radio etc. will not shut off even though it is in park .I have read this is a huge safety concern with my model truck and many other Chevrolet vehicles but I'm not sue if it's resulted in any injuries or damage. The GM customer service rep I spoke to said to file this with you NHTSA so that if there is enough of a safety concern or defective part problem a recall will be issues. thank you for your time [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

I had it towed to Galles Chevrolet the next day. I have waited 3 weeks now to get word from the dealer. I was able to finally speak with a service advisor this morning who told me that they suspect the engine has failed. They have yet to tear it down and cannot recommend me for a rental till they order the parts. They assured that they would get to it by 4/8/25 at the latest. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The contact stated that after coming to a stop, the check engine warning light illuminated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact continued to depress the accelerator pedal and the vehicle shuddered with the "Reduced Acceleration Drive with Care" message displayed on the instrument panel.
