| Dec 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | On occasion, when I put my vehicle in reverse the backup camera displays a black image in violation of the requirements of FMVSS 1111. There are no obstruction on the camera. This is available for inspection if necessary. I have taken it to the manufacturer but due to the intermittent nature they are not able to reproduce the event. I was not able to use the required safety feature to back out of a parking space into a busy street. I have a video of this display not activating correctly. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | STEERING | While driving on an interstate at approximately 65 mph, i crossed a bridge. When i ran over the expansion joint the steering wheel started violently shaking in my hands. It continued until i slowed down to a near stop and then was fine. On the same trip, it did this several times. When I took the jeep to a local dealer, they told me the steering damper (original to the vehicle) was defective. I helps them replace it and so far have not experienced the problem. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. Nearly losing control of a vehicle at 65 mph or more, with traffic all around, is extremely dangerous, as is trying to come to a stop as quickly as possible when surrounded by other vehicles that are going just as fast. I found many reports of similar issues with previous models of jeeps online but obviously their solution did not adequately address the problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The vehicle’s check engine light come on earlier this year and the electric motor/battery was not functioning properly. It was serviced in September and I was told by the dealership that the software update would resolve the issue. It did not. The vehicle was serviced again on 12/13/24 and I was told that it passed the 95B recall test but that the check engine light came back on. The dealership said they ran more tests and now the electric cooling/heating unit needs to be replaced but they won’t have the part for approximately 2 weeks. The electric cooling/heating unit is for controlling climate within the vehicle and should not affect its propulsion. While driving the vehicle the day after I picked it up from the dealership, I was nearly involved in what would’ve been a serious accident. I was turning at an intersection, but the vehicle lost motor function and would not accelerate, leaving me sitting in the intersection with traffic oncoming. Fortunately, after several seconds, the vehicle began to move with not much time to spare. This problem recurred throughout my drive returning home. I have not and will not drive the vehicle again until I am able to return to the dealership for a third time. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | STEERING,ENGINE | I was driving on the turnpike on or about [XXX][. I drove over some ridges on [XXX]. My jeep starting violently shaking out of control it felt like the wheels were gonna pop off. I had to grip onto the steering wheel to try to keep the vehicle from hitting any other cars. It went on for about five minutes then it stopped, but I could feel a change in the way, the steering felt. There was no warning signs on my dashboard .It felt like I didn’t have complete control of the steering. After I got off of the turnpike, I was on [XXX] trying to get home safely after experiencing this terrifying experience . When i was on [XXX] I hit a red light and when the light turned green, I went to put my foot on the gas and it would not go so the person behind me almost hit. I had to put the jeep into park and I put it back into drive then proceeded to go and it was still driving like I didn’t have complete control of the steering so then om [XXX]. I set up an appointment with Sands Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. When I was on the phone With the advisor, she told me that was the death wobble that I was experiencing, but I need to have The Jeep diagnosed to verify that so I got a multi point inspection report Sent to me that said , Caution Steering Linkage (Damage/Leaks/Worn Components) Pending Recommendations Replace Steering Damper (Stabilizer) Associated Item General concern #1 customer states vehicle was shaking heavily on highway. The dealership is charging me when they know that Fiat Chrysler automobiles (FCA) , The former parent company of Jeep issued a recall for the 2018 to 2019 Jeep, Wrangler and Jeep gladiator models due to a steering wheel vibration issue known as the “ Death wobble”. FCA recalled over 190,000 vehicles to replace the front suspension steering damper also known as the stabilizer. and that’s Exactly what I needed to have replaced, steering damper Also known as stabilizer. Also called Jeep wave. They are trying to get me a discount INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | STEERING | With only 10,000 miles on the Jeep wrangler vehicle, we are experiencing the death wobble. We contacted Jeep and they advised us this was not covered under our warranty any longer since past 3 years. We had the dealership request reconsideration on our behalf since this is a known issue and they agreed to pay for 60% of the repair, however They should be liable for all of it since this is an ongoing issue with their vehicles specifically the 2021 year. Please assist us with getting this actually recalled and get reimbursement. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | STEERING | VIN: [XXX] I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler that has 35K miles on it, very well taken care of and never off road. When i hit a bump my jeep shakes really bad to where it feels as if will make me crash due to it becoming out of control. I'm reading online this is a common problem with this jeep as described as (Death Wobble) A certified mechanic looked at my jeep and found that I have loose tie rod ends and my drag link is loose? My question is with an almost new jeep with not many miles on it is there a recall out with this issue? Seems so many other jeep owners are empiercing the same problem? What can I do to correct this? This is a manufacture problem, not mine and I shouldnt have to endure the repair bills Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I have had 2 separate incidents with this tow bar system. Both resulted in catastrophic failure of the equipment. In Oct. 2024 while traveling in Atlanta Ga. a retaining pin came out of the tow bar on one side and resulted in the tow vehicle becoming uncontrollable. I convinced myself this was operator error. Since then, I replaced the damaged tow bar with the equivalent tow bar from Etrailer. Again on Fri [XXX] the same thing happened again with a lost pin resulting in uncontrollable vehicle while travelling through Shreveport La. I firmly believe that this tow bar system has some design flaws that allows the retaining pins to dislodge while experiencing rough road conditions. This system is designed to flat tow a vehicle behind an RV. The RV in question is a 2024 Jayco Seneca rated to tow up to 10,000lbs. The vehicle being towed is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler with an estimated weight of 4,500lbs. The tow bar system mentioned above is rated up to 6,000lbs. I have contacted Etrailer and they have offered a refund. I think this system needs to be reevaluated for its safety designs. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V720000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the vehicle was in Hawaii and was unable to be shipped back to the residence because with a recall that could result in a fire. The contact stated that the vehicle had overheated while driving, and the lights on the instrument panel flashed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 28,000. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Dec 2024 | STEERING | I was traveling at 55 mph on 4 lane highway and hit a bumo in the road. The vehicle began to shake to a point where it was nearly uncontrollable. I was able to get to the side of the road and stop. I then drove slowly and the shaking stopped. This was on a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. Further investigation indicated that this is a WIDE SPREAD problem with Jeep Wranglers. I have taken the vehicle to the local Jeep dealer who verified it the DEATH WOBBLE. It apparently is due to a malfunctioning steering damper. I have instructed the dealer to repair but they have indicated that there is no reimbursement for this problem despite its common occurrence on Jeep Wranglers | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY | The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 23V787000 (Electrical System), 24V111000 (Visibility) and 24V72000 (Electrical System); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that a second notice would be mailed when the parts were available. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | ENGINE | I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler JL--VIN [XXX] . On Wednesday, [XXX], the vehicle suddenly and without prior warning overheated. I immediately parked the car. There were no obvious signs of leaks but we went and got some coolant and I put about 1/4 gallon of coolant in as it was low. I had the car towed to the dealership. The service advisor informed me that the issue was related to TSB 07-001-22 REV. B. They had to tighten the bolts connecting the inlet tube. As I searched on some Jeep Forums, I discovered that this issue was addressed with CSN ZD8, however, it's only applicable to certain VINs within 2021-2022. When I mentioned this to the advisor, she said my car wasn't affected by the recall. Clearly, this is a broader issue than just the VINs noted in the recall since this exact issue happened to my vehicle. I reached out to FCA and was assigned a case manager. After speaking with her, she informed me that she just talked with the dealership possibly providing cost assistance with the matter. I don't know why they're putting it back on the dealership when it's clearly a manufacturing defect. The dealership covered about 1/2 of the cost. | Dec 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES | I was traveling on the [XXX] on Sunday [XXX] and while started smelling brakes and I got off at the service area and pressed on the brake pedal and the vehicle wouldn’t stop. I had no brake pedal and just heard a clicking sound. There were people everywhere and I didn’t want anyone to get hurt so I had no choice but to drive the vehicle towards a yellow pole which did stop the vehicle but I have been told after the car was towed to a shop that there is an error code B22A9 and believe it was caused by some ecu failure of some sort. The vehicle is in really bad shape and airbags also didn’t deploy. I would like this to be investigated as I would not feel safe in this vehicle if it’s repaired and returned to service. It is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and I am aware of issues being reported with the battery but nothing for this problem except for other mentions on the internet on owners having similar problems intermittently. The jeep will be towed to Pohanka Jeep in Salisbury Md. There wasn’t any warning lights. I give permission for the vehicle to be inspected at anytime. I feel this vehicle is a danger to the public safety being it was just serviced and inspected by a Jeep dealership 2 weeks prior and the brakes suddenly fall and now there’s a code with something to do with an ecu or electronics having to do with the brakes failing. Could have been killed in the accident or seriously hurt if I hadn’t exited off the road and used the pole to stop the vehicle. | Dec 2024 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the contact experienced failure known as the death wobble. The contact stated that the vehicle started shaking violently after driving over a bump in the roadway, causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle. The contact regained control of the vehicle once the vehicle had slowed down and the shaking ceased. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the model year vehicle was not covered under recall. The contact was then informed that the steering wheel stabilizer needed to be installed to prevent the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 24,000 |
| Dec 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The electric motor system does not engage on my Jeep Wrangler 4xe Plug In Hybrid. When you press the accelerator pedal after a stop (e.g. at an intersection or to make a left turn), the Jeep electrical motor does not engage. The Jeep may drift into the intersection or oncoming traffic without motive force. After a period of time, the gas engine will engage. I estimate the delay to be about 30 seconds. I often depress the accelerator multiple times before the gas engine engages. This is extremely dangerous as the vehicle drifts into an intersection, and could potentially be hit by oncoming traffic. The vehicle shows an engine light identified as a voltage inconsistency in the main battery. It appears the entire electrical motive system is shut down, but the computer is still calling on it to operate. When it does not operate, the gas engine will start, but there is a significant and extremely dangerous delay. I have called the dealership and Jeep to request guidance on how to address this issue, but neither has been able to provide any assistance. They tell me there is a pending recall but no solution available. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Nov 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I was driving on [XXX] in San Diego going 75 mph and I received a number of alerts and flashing and audible sounds. When I looked at the dash it had an alert that said performance unstable pull over place vehicle in park. I immediately lost power to the accelerator and the car started to slow so I pulled over on the shoulder. Luckily, I was in the right hand side lane in the carpool section, and there was a shoulder. If there had been no shoulder, I would’ve been stuck in traffic in the lane. The car would not restart and I had to have it towed from [XXX]. | Nov 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while turned off on several occasions the vehicle failed to charge above 95%. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a software update was performed. The contact stated that 10 days later the vehicle was taken to a different dealer where it was discovered that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V720000 (Electrical System). Additionally, the contact stated that the A/C unit failed to operate as intended, the gear shifter was stiff, and the "Electric Charging port Failure" message was displayed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,500. | Crash: No Fire: No | 35,500 |
| Nov 2024 | STRUCTURE | vehicle is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon The issue is Wrangler JL Corrosion Issue. I have noticed corrosion on hinges on the driver's door and drivers side hood. I see this as a possible safety concern if it continues to form corrosion. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | SUSPENSION | Extreme vibration from front end at highway speeds. Commonly referred to as Jeep 'Death Wobble'. Occurred in 2022, steering damper replaced. Problem has reoccurred. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Backup camera not working (intermittent). There are times when the backup camera just gives a black screen. This is a safety issue as we can't then see what person or thing may be behind us. This can cause great damage or injury to ourselves and others. The dealership looked at the issue twice, but could not get it to malfunction, and so had no idea how to repair it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | In the three years I have owned this vehicle I have had the steering damper replaced to correct uncontrollable vibrating of the steering wheel, commonly referred to as the “Death Wobble”. The issue occurs when driving at highway speeds and requires the driver to quickly slow down to stop the “wobble”. There is no warning light or detection, and the issue come on quickly. The dealer has identified the problem with the remedy being replacement of the steering damper. While this does initially fix the symptoms, it does not correct the problem, as I have had three dampers replaced in 24 months. This is obviously only a bandaid and not the correct fix for this dangerous problem. My opinion is that a recall is needed to allow for a proper repair. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I had the most recent incident driving Westbound in the evening hours shortly before Sunset around October 10, 2024. It appears the sunlight from the setting sun triggered my adaptive cruise control and forward collision alert and triggered an alarm sound and activated emergency braking at the same time. I have had two previous incidents like this. One at the exact same location on my commute home at around the same time and maybe a week before. A third occurrence was on an Eastbound morning drive with the rising sun. All three incidents triggered emergency braking from a speed of ca. 65mph. I was able to react fast enough to deactivate the ACC by lightly pushing the brake pedal and could avoid serving or complete stopping of the vehicle. Luckily during all incidents I had no close traffic behind me, otherwise the incidents could have caused a rear end collision. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING | The backup lights are no where near bright enough to safely backup at night. There is no easy way to upgrade the bulbs. This is a well know issue in the Jeep community with Wranglers. There are aftermarket solutions but I shouldn't have to spend 100's of dollars to remedy a design defect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
