| Jan 2025 | STEERING | 01/21/25 While driving on Interstate 64 at posted 70 mph suddenly experienced a complete shuddering of the vehicle. I was able to maintain forward direction with speed. Control on by “gripping” tightly with both hands and then braking quickly to shoulder and engaging 4 way flasher. I thought at first I must have hit something in the road or experienced a sudden tire blowout. But myself, spouse and brother-in-law exited the vehicle and could discern no apparent vehicle damage. No loose body trim / tires intact. I got down on the pavement and viewed the undercarriage and no loose parts were observed. Decided to drive it if possible. Vehicle started up fine and then accelerating to speed limit pulled up existing tire pressure and they were 36-37 psi. About 15 miles later now on I69 experienced the same sudden intense “shuddering “ of the vehicle. This time I braked quickly and let off the gas peddle and the wobble stopped. Immediately continued to Evansville Jeep dealer , reported the issue. They could not examine the vehicle immediately and though I expressed concern about driving the vehicle 50 miles back home I was told no loaner car available. I did make an appointment for 01/23/25 the earliest opening. The person handling the issue evidently discussed the issue with a technician and came back and stated it was a common Jeep issue and may need a “damper “ or repair to a damper. When asked if my extended warranty would cover the repair he wasn’t sure though I have less than 60XXX miles and purchased May 2021 with 100,000 miles extended warranty. I told we have a major trip planned soon and have concerns. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | Jeep Wrangler 2021 death wobble. This is the fourth time I’ve had a death wobble in two years out of nowhere. The vehicle will also of a sudden go into a shaking moving wobbling scenario, which feels completely unsafe to drive. I have brought this vehicle into Jeep four times in the past two years for this problem. I am requesting a buyback. They refuse to buy it back based on this very unsafe situation | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The instrument panel is not working at all, it is totally black. I can not see speed, gas amount, any emergency lights, i can not tell if my lights are on bright or dim, if my turn signal is on or anything. I have already been stranded on the side of a busy highway at night because of this. I have to use my phone to see speed which leads to me being distracted from the road to see how fast i am driving. There has been a recall but for some reason does not include my VIN # even tho it is the same issue of the recall. I don't want to pay for a new instrument panel if that is not the issue. Evidently mopar knows what the issue is because it recalled 30000 vehicles for this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW, IT HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER 14+ TIMES FOR THE BATTERY/HYBRID COMPONENTS. IT CAUSES "A FIRE HAZARD" AND I AM INSTRUCTED TO NOT PARK IT IN MY OWN GARAGE, NEAR OTHER VEHICLES AND IT'D BE BEST TO NOT DRIVE IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE TIMES THAN NOT SINCE OWNING THIS VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEMS PERSIST. RIGHT NOW IT HAS ANOTHER BATTERY/HEATER ISSUE AND IT ISN'T FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, YET I AM TOLD TO DRIVE IT ANYWAY AS THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER WITH NO DATE/FIX IN SIGHT AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO PROVIDE A LOANER INDEFINITELY. MEANTIME, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE, IT'S ALWAYS AT RISK OF CATCHING ON FIRE WHETHER PARKED OR IN DRIVE. MANY OF THESE SAME VEHICLES HAVE CAUGHT FIRE AND PEOPLE ARE BATTLING CHRYSLER/JEEP DAILY. WHEN IS THE SAFETY ENTITY GOING TO STEP UP AND FORCE A BUYBACK FOR THE SAFETY OF THE OWNERS/PASSENGERS? I HAVE A $70000 VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND IS UNSAFE TO BE ON THE ROADS OR PARKED ANYPLACE. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sport that only has 24k miles on it (all oem stock components with zero modification) and I have been experiencing death wobble issues when traveling at highway speeds and driving over seam transitions where the road meets bridge crossings. The vehicle shakes uncontrolably and it's absolutely terrifying. The only way to get it to stop is to remove my foot from the gas pedal, apply the brakes and come to a near stop. I took it to the dealership and all suspension parts are in good condition with no wear and bolts are tightened to oem torques. The dealership is recommending a steering stabilizer be installed, which is going to cost me $400 with no guarantee it will fix the issue. Many Jeep forums state the steering stabilzer is a band aid fix that does not resolve this serious safety defect long term. We'll see what happens, but quite honestly I'm scared to even drive it anymore. If it continues to experience death wobble after this supposed fix, I'm getting rid of it and trading it in on a more reliable brand, but am concerned about the next person who ends up buying it. It's an obvious design flaw that has been going on with Jeeps for 2 decades and Jeep needs to go back to the drawing board and figure out a permanent long term fix. I have owned many vehicles in my life and I have never experienced this problem with other brands. It seems to be synonymous with the Jeep brand. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | With less than 35,000 miles on a 2021 jeep wrangler, I have started to experience extreme shaking when going over a bump. Otherwise, known as the “Death Wobble”. The steering wheel shakes uncontrollably and could cause a serious accident while driving. I was told that the 2021 and newer models would not have this problem due to manufactures addressed the design flaw. Jeep has known about this issue for many years but has done nothing to make repairs or changes to the vehicle design. This is a huge safety concern because I could lose control of my vehicle while the steering shakes uncontrollably or cause an accident because the only way to stop the shaking is to quickly decrease speed. My vehicle was inspected by Gillman Jeep in Houston, Texas. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | See attached document for complaint. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | STEERING | I was driving down the highway about 75 miles an hour I hit a bump and the front tires started shaking had to pull over before it would stop. About a week later it happened again at 65 mph. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | I took my 2021 diesel Jeep in for a Y81 Emissions recall on 02.19.24. Since then, my vehicle has had its check engine light go on SIX TIMES with a P0133 alert which refers to an O2 sensor. I have taken it in to the dealership for a resolution six times. Currently, it is set to be diagnosed and repaired yet one more time on 01.22.25. Now we are in the middle of winter and I feel like the vehicle is about to die at intersections and roundabouts when I approach them. I tried to go through an arbitration with FCA USA LLC which produces the Jeep brand and it was denied for a repurchase of the vehicle because the arbitrator felt it was not a safety issue since I still drive the vehicle and they are technically not in violation of the warranty which I did not accept as a resolution. Due to my non-resolved safety concern, I am raising the issue in this forum so hopefully something can be done and others that potentially have the same issue can reach a resolution as well. My hypothesis of the cause of the issue is when the Y81 recall happened, it tuned down the emissions output that was originally higher necessary for the vehicle to run, because I didn't have check engine lights before. By this tune-down of emissions, the engine is not able to produce the correct output to run the vehicle and thus the random lack of power causing a safety issue, and is currently adversely affecting components that are causing the P0133 O2 sensor to alert. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Loss of power when the Jeep was in hybrid mode (Both electric and gasoline engine). This was due to Battery not able to regulate the internal temperature (confirmed by the dealer). | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | The engine and cluster showed and made noises indicating that the hybrid system was malfunctioning. The cluster indicated a speed limit at high speeds, but never did so. The electric drivetrain was disconnected and the handling and power were severely affected. It was dangerous because the distracting and concerning issues were during a rapid speed and in dangerous conditions with no clear remedy. The check engine, red turtle, and battery lights indicated the problem, but not beforehand. There were some warranty fixes around the battery including recall work. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | There is a air filter behind the dash glove box that continues to move (makes sound) as if its running after the vehicle is off. When you open doors you can hear the noise of the filter or component or something making a noise | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I have been having random issues with my backup camera on my vehicle and noticed the recall only includes 2024 yrs. I have reported this to my dealership as early as right after purchase in Dec of 2021. I have had the vehicle for 3yrs and it the back up camera stops working randomly at minimum once a month and probably more often than that. My dealership every time I take in for service cant find any issues but now that there is a recall I would like to be included in it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the high-voltage battery. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V720000 (Electrical System); the VIN was included, but parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 21,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 21,000 |
| Jan 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My name is [XXX] . I am part of the the Jeep 4XE community. I have been heavily invested in the 4XE community from the very beginning. I have the first customer owned Wrangler 4XE, I run a YouTube channel with over 9,000 subscribers and a Facebook group with over 23,000 members. I have several concerns about the 4XE and the way Jeep is possibly mishandling safety issues. I would like to open a dialog with someone at the NHTSA to voice some of these concerns. There has been a lingering battery fire issue that Jeep has now addressed with two recalls. Stories of dealership mishandling are very common. We know if one Wrangler 4XE fire that has happened after the most recent 95B recall. There is also a high failure rate of a component that is called the Electric Coolant Heater. This item is needed for defrost functionality when the vehicle is in electric mode. Many of us in the 4XE community have come to believe that Jeep should offer highly extended or lifetime warranties on this part since it is safety related and has been so problematic. I would like to assemble a team of 4XE owners to consult with the NHTSA on the issues we are seeing. We do not believe Jeep is handling these issues in a manner that is putting the customer safety first and would like to see how we can work together to protect the owners. | Jan 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | Received regenerative braking must be serviced notice, followed by loss of motive control. Push accelerator, would not accelerate and actually rolled backwards, multiple notification lights came on, car started to move after 5 seconds, happened again. pulled over to turn on/off car, car would NOT turn on. tried several times and resolved to get it towed. After 5 min, tried one more time to start the car and it did turn on. Functioned normally. Drove to dealership and dealership diagnosis is nothing wrong, dealership now working with Chevrolet engineers. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Ev battery. Oct 4. Code for replace ev battery. Shop wouldn’t replace ev battery because ANOTHER recall for ev came out Oct 6. Recall not available until Nov. appointment for Jan 6. Recall done. No codes for ev battery. Get 1 miles down the road. Won’t run in electric. Switched to hybrid 9 more miles it’s doesn’t use any ev battery. Get into town. No power to pull away from stop sign. I get home and park. Car doesn’t work any more. Won’t turn off. Not all the way. Try to move it. No power. This is going to kill somebody. No throttle at all. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Recent recall 95B was performed December 15th, 2024 on my Jeep 4xe. The vehicle passed the road test involved with the safety recall to detect a defective high voltage battery. On December 26th, within 100 miles of the recall test being performed, the vehicle cruise control involuntarily shut off, check engine light illuminated and the vehicle lost power on the freeway. We were able to return home with the vehicle lurching while driving, having erratic acceleration from a stop and pushing through braking. The issues continued a few days later when delivering to the Jeep service center and the Jeep died in the service lane and had to be pushed the rest of the way to the service bay. The "fix'' that Stellantis has provided seems to simply later detect the battery issue that the recall test was designed to detect under their care during the test procedure. There are numerous other 4xe owners that I am aware of that are having the same post-test failures and motive power losses in traffic soon after their vehicle 'passed' the battery test. This 'solution' is causing a dangerous situation for the owners and the general motoring public. The Jeep has since been reevaluated and determined that the battery that the recall was intended to detect is indeed defective and is being replaced. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I took my jeep into the dealer for my 4xe 95b recall. They did not show me pass or fail my car went in on no battery 2 1/2 hrs later they said my car was done. I do not believe they completed the drive cycle test to show pass or fail my odometer reading was only a few miles more then when I dropped it off and no battery charge gas gage hadn't moved. There is no way they did a complete drive cycle. They didn't charge it to over 75% they did not drive it until it was a warm enough temp to run the test. I got nothing but a receipt stating recall software update was done and drive test done. Nothing about if it passed or failed. And under my jeep app they put miscellaneous vehicle inspections. The recall still shows on my car. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Per the dealer, power distribution center design flawed causing it to fail. Vehicle failed while driving in traffic creating an unsafe condition. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | Metal chunks found in engine oil, and as were not metal powder swirl, shavings, or specs, possibly from bottom engine crankshaft. At the crank pulley, with the belt off, I could feel nudge by hand from the middle, for an engine component with max specified endplay 0.012 inches, or fraction of a millimeter. An existing manufacturer recall, and not a safety recall, for this 2021 Jeep Wrangler 2.0L Turbo is inspection for loose bolts for water pump inlet. This vehicle will not be available for inspection requests, because it is still not, and waiting to be, diagnosed as the dealer could not necessarily hear an engine issue. I have heard it knock, like a rumbling V8 and turbo whined, and recently I decided to strain the old and knocking oil that I kept and discovered metal. There was something wrong all along. Top engine, with good gas mileage, has been fine. The safety concern to this vehicle is metal in oil to possibly enter top engine and create sudden or instant engine seizure while in operation. The safety of driver or others could be at risk. The safety concern to this vehicle is also the detioration of engine components since they appear under the sole discretion of this motorized vehicle. This means, no other factor known to the driver of this vehicle by which rate of engine detioration has occurred. An indicating observation to be made into this vehicle's safety is the endplay of the crankshaft. This vehicle is nearly 97,000 miles odometer. The endplay seems very excessive, causing me to speculate on original factory fitment and installation during assembly. What determinations into a non-safety recall of loose water pump bolts might emerge as consideration into engine interior deterioration, as rate of this deterioration appear under sole vehicle discretion and remain unknown to the driver. Insufficient cooling is known to cause buildup in any engine, this vehicle has burped coolant air. No warning lights in the dash was seen. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | After taking my jeep 4xe in for the 95B recall I drove around 50 miles and the check engine light came on. Once home vehicle would not turn on or charge. Error on dash said “charging system error.” Next day the vehicle would turn on be experience extreme slowness after stopping with bursts of acceleration. The accceleration and breaking system were extremely jerky and I felt like I didn’t know how the car would respond when accelerating which was dangerous. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | After performing the 95B recall, within 20-30 miles of driving the CEL came on. After powering off and back on the “service charging system” alert displayed on the dash. The vehicle seemed drivable however, and I proceeded to drive it to the dealership two days later which is about 4 miles away. In multiple instances when trying to accelerate from a stop the vehicle would not accelerate to more than 3-4 mph for multiple seconds leaving me stranded pulling out across traffic in the middle of an intersection waiting on the car to accelerate to a normal speed. Regardless of how much the accelerator was pressed the vehicle just rolled forward very, very slowly. Eventually, the vehicle lurched forward violently. Within this 3-4 mile drive this happened 3 times. The car remained jerky and unpredictable. I was fortunate to be driving at a low traffic time and made sure to allow extra space due to feeling the car acting slow after the CEL appeared. Had I treated it normally during normal commute hours, I would have been hit by oncoming traffic. I left the vehicle at the dealership and am waiting on response. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
