The adult passenger in the other second row seat made several attempts to secure my grandson's seat belt after it unlatched, while the car was in motion, unsuccessfully. We purchased this vehicle 2 months ago from a dealership. As soon as we got the car, both of the second row seatbelts were very hard to lock. Several attempts had to be made to get them to lock every time they were used with a child seat. The vehicle is available for inspection. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center since this happened today. I have made an appointment with a dealer to have my seatbelt replaced in 2 weeks. The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps pr messages that indicated this problem. Once again, there were symptoms of the problem because when we first got the car, we had to make several attempts for both 2nd row seatbelts to lock when used with a car seat.it was highly annoying!!! I had to drive without a seatbelt several miles. I tried probably 20 times to get it to click in before giving up. My husband was able to somehow reset the mechanism, and it appears to be working fine at the moment. but I fear I could get either locked in or out of the seatbelt in the future. There was no warning the seatbelt was having an issue prior to this event. Also, it appears my model, the 2021 Hyundai Calligraphy is not included in the service bulletin campaign with the issue of a knock in the rear end (my noise is coming from the right rear area of the vehicle. Most likely the rear shock absorber, upper insulator. I'm not sure of the safety issue this will cause. Hyundai wants to charge me $160.00 to tell me if that is what it is.
