| Date | Component | Summary | Severity | Mileage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Feb 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Leaking back glass, Soaked carpet, and a musty odor. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | ENGINE | MGU bearing failing, and no stock available, they suspect it may be months before the part is available | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | SEAT BELTS | The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the front driver’s side seat belt did not properly retract to secure the driver. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 48,000 |
| Feb 2025 | FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL | The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed a burning odor around the exterior of the vehicle. The contact performed an inspection and determined that the burning odor was coming from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was started, and an error message was displayed, instructing the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer within the next 200 miles. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a fractured diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) system. The contact was informed that the DEF system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer for further additional diagnostic tests. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 40,000 |
| Feb 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | My MGU (special name for alternator on Ram E-Torque) went bad. Starts out as grinding noise (no check engine light yet) then shortly after - total failure. Mine has total MGU failure with check engine light on and voltage warning lights to. I have a an appointment on Feb 12 2025 to replace it. They said it’s going to take about 45-90 days for a replacement part. When failure of this part happens the bearings go first, with a possibility of fire risk, in my opinion. Metal grinding on metal creates friction then fire-in my opinion. I researched and talked to some parts managers at ram dealerships. The MGU is a joke. Everyone of them will fail prematurely. Look into this please. There are 5000 MGU units supposedly being produced and shipped out across the country. Those are being shipped out very slowly when available. Nothing fast about these replacements. And lastly, apparently Ram has decided to not make the etorque available on the V8 engines anymore. Only the V6 engines have them. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When slowing down for a stop the transmission will shift into neutral and a warning will pop up on display “shift to park then desired gear” this is happing on my 2020 ram and my sons 2019 ram but the dealer says there is no fix. I checked online and it looks like it’s happening a lot. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | This vehicle will not take gas at the pump. It shuts off after less than 1/2 galllon, even near empty. It will also backsplash at the pump. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I already sent one, and forgot the pictures, pictures included this time | Crash: No Fire: Yes | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | While refueling the gas pump kept shutting off. The dealership replaced the filler neck and the fuel tank almost a year ago and now the issue came back and they are stating it is now the Evaporator Canister. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The DPF got so hot in a matter of a few miles (8 minutes driving) it blew a hole in it, and melted all the wiring under the truck, caused the engine to stop, automatically locking all the doors (thank God my child and husband had stopped and were out) before this happened. | Crash: No Fire: Yes | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | ABS module/hcu failure Jan 13, 2025. No indication of problem prior to failure. When failure occurred, vehicle was traveling around curve in road at 50 mph when all warning lights on dash lit, loss of power steering, engine shutdown, loss of power brakes. Vehicle had to be towed home then to dealer (Davis Moore Ram Wichita Ks). Dealer diagnosed as ABS module with possible HCU failure. Told by dealer no parts available for repair, I confirmed with on-line search with other dealers. ABS Module Part # 68728132AA is not being made available to any dealers (backordered) for the repair. FCA is calling it under review, has been years for many people who still have no fix. Dealer had me prepay for part. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | POWER TRAIN | As with previous recall issued 66A for 1500 trucks from 2014-2019, my vehicle is with the dealer for the same known issue for the 2020 model 3.0 ecodiesel for repair of the tone wheel and crankshaft sensor failure. Tone wheel and crankshaft sensor failed while on highway presenting same know safety risk as previous truck models. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | STRUCTURE | Door Latch malfunctioning in cold weather. Will not open or stay shut until warmed up. Safety issue as door will not close and vehicle is not able to be driven. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie. The contact stated that the alternator was making an abnormal whining noise. The noise had increased and become louder over time. The alternator was making an abnormal grinding sound. While his wife was driving at approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle lost voltage, stopped, and shut down. The flashers became inoperable. The essential power mode message was displayed. The check engine light was illuminated. The contact had replaced the battery three months prior. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where an unknown diagnosis was provided. The vehicle was not repaired due to the part being backordered. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 80,000 |
| Jan 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | Vehicle had a temporary shutoff when doing a rolling stop. The vehicle temporarily lost power when decelerating to the stop sign at 5-10 MPH, then starting again as I began to accelerate. Can not replicate problem again. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | I noticed an oil leak under the truck a few weeks after getting the oil changed at the dealership. I took it back and had them investigate. They advised me I needed to replace the oil filter housing assembly, to the tune of $1,000. As I did research i found d this this is a widespread common problem and is known. Faulty design of a plastic part. For this to be such a common issue and poor design (that could cause catastrophic engone failure resulting in accidents or fires) and not to be recalled and or covered is insane. It's such a known issue that aftermarket parts makers have made a version that is all aluminum to prevent the issue. RAM should be paying for the repair, not me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | As I was backing out of my drive way my power steering stopped working and has been hard to turn the wheel. I moved the steering wheel up and down and it started working again, and then the next day it went back to no longer working. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The vehicle exhaust gasket fails at 50,000 miles on the 2020 Ram pickup causing carbon monoxide to enter the cab when idling. This is very common on this particular truck. Ram has yet to issue a recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING | The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH and approaching a stop, the left turn signal failed to function as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle made a loud sound as if the ABS had been activated. The contact stated that while attempting to use the turn signal to the left, the right turn signal was erroneously activated. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired because the vehicle was not under recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 90,000 |
| Jan 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My screen is delaminating on a 4 year old vehicle. This should not be happening and was told by my local Dodge dealership that it is not covered under a warranty, nor my extended warranty or a recall. This is poor manufacturing. My vehicle does not sit in direct sunlight. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2025 | STRUCTURE | When its cold (below 30 degrees) the back 2 doors when opened will not re-close. I have taken the vehicle to Dodge and they haven't fixed the issue as the can't "replicate" the problem. I have multiple videos of this happening Today, I had to strap the back doors together to make it work on time And, when I research this on RAM forums... tons of other people having this same issue I have a video... but cant post to this message | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | complete engine failure driving on hiway in 65mpr traffic.. it was a sudden total stop no power no control. after 30 sec. or so i pushed restart button stepped on gas, no error code was shown but restarted. we were almost rearended as busy traffic going that speed. this has happened twice before. after taken to a chrysler dealership on DEC.30 ,2024 and a diagnostic run they could find no issue so we were given no answer. they could not offer any other advice. this situation could be a lethal issue. we could have been in a horrible accident. we would appreciate anything you could do for us. we are affraid to drive this and only 50thousand miles on this truck, which we bought new. We are not mechanics and only can think this is a electrical failure. Please help us. we think another vehickle should be given us. This is a 2020 ECO diesel 30L engine 1500 Dodge Ram 4X4 | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Refueling vehicle has become a hazard due to repeated overflow out of fueling stem of vehicle. When inserting gasoline fuel nozzle from gas station pump and squeezing gas fuel nozzle handle the gasoline does not enter tank but rather spurts out around the fuel nozzle spilling down the side of the vehicle and onto the ground and onto the shoes and clothing of the person fueling the vehicle. Refueling the vehicle puts the refueler and occupants and others in the area at risk of contamination by the flammable fuel and environmental contamination. Repeated attempts to "feather" the flow from the nozzle have failed to alleviate this problem. Repeated attempts to use different fuel pumps and other gas station pumps have failed as well. There is no indication of a problem on the dashboard indicator lamps nor messages. No inspection by dealer has occurred by dealer as of yet. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I was parked with my daughter in the truck and we heard a loud boom sounded like a gun shot. Then I looked my back window was shattered and the frame of the back window was cracked. I have researched this and found others who have had the same issue. Ram will not take care of it. My Mopar maximum coverage will not cover it. This very scary my daughter was in the back seat and glass went everywhere. I am a single father battling cancer and I do not know what to do. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I have a 2020 Ram 1500 pickup, and the rear window leaks on both side of the glass and runs down to the carpet and it is starting to smell really moldy. I took it into the ram dealership on 11-4-24, and they said they have had several complaints on this and said I could pay to have it replaced or they could put silicone around the glass to see if it stops the leak. I wasn't happy with this but I told them to go ahead and reseal it and they did. About a week later it was leaking again. I called Ram Cares both times and they told me that they have lots of complaints about this same issue as I'm having as well. Matter as fact my son also has a 2020 ram 1500 that leaks and my next door neighbor has a 2021 ram 1500 that is also is leaking. I took it back in 12-17-24 and they told me they were told by Ram to reseal it again. Again I'm not happy about this. I am hoping someone will make them fix this issue. I paid a lot on money for this truck to not be able to drive it in the rain or get sick in the process of the mold. If you do a google search, back in 2016 there was several complaints and they failed to address the issue since then. The Ram service lady said they changed it in the 2023 model, but not going to fix the older models because it would cost to much. They are trying to reseal it as putting a band aid over it and if they do stop the leak now someday down the road it will leak again from the sealant decaying and then they won't do nothing. Something needs to be done please. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
