Dec 2022 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM While filling up with gas the gas pump will cut off after pumping a small amount. I reposition the pump into the neck of the gas tank and try to pump more gas. The same problem occurs. You can only pump 25 to 50 cents of gas at a time. I called the dealer today after researching on line to see if there was a recall. They told me to bring it in, they would get to it in a few weeks. I researched to find there is not a recall on my truck for this problem but other 1500. My truck is having the same issue. I will update this case once its diagnosed by the dealer.

Dec 2022 POWER TRAIN After driving in a few inches of wet snow for about 20 minutes enough snow built up around the transmission that when I went to shift it into park it failed to do so. The dash displayed that there was an error with the transmission and it was unable to determine what gear I was in. The truck was not able to fully turn off and was stuck in accessory mode as a result. After changing gears multiple times with no luck I was finally able to shift it to drive and get moving again. I then proceeded to get it scheduled by the local dealership in my area to see if they could figure out what the problem was. after inspecting it they informed me that there was snow buildup on my transmission that caused the park/neutral switch to get stuck/not work. They removed the snow and said that everything was operating normally, but informed me that it was a self-inflicted issue and not a fault of the design or manufacturer. The issue has been temporally resolved by removing the snow, but there seemed to be no permeant fix for the issue.

Dec 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM While I was driving my vehicle just completely shutdown. I lost power steering and had to pull over to the side of the road. I pressed the start button and nothing happened. I continued to try pressing it and it finally started back up, and I drove home. A couple days later I tried starting it and it wouldn't start. Finally it started and I drove it about 100 miles. I got in it the following day and it won't start again. I'm concerned that the vehicle could shutdown on me again while driving.

Nov 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER I have a 2020 Ram1500 Laramie and I developed a rear window leak. I am not sure if it was from the break light or the actual window. I did take it to the dealer and it was fixed with a 1 year warranty from the company that repaired it. However, I do not believe this is sufficient. The Truck will be 3 years old in one year as I brought it Aug 2022 and if this happens again in the next 5 years, I believe it should be covered from the manufacture as this has happened to many vehicles from what I can see on the forums. I believe this should be a recall that Ram is responsible for covering for the life of the vehicle.

Nov 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM When accelerating from a stop the truck loses power and fails to respond. The engine is working but the transmission fails to engage and the truck just coasts until all-of-a-sudden it jerks back into motion. The vehicle will also lunge forward when coming to a stop as if the transmission catches and decides to accelerate momentarily. This is a serious safety issue when pulling out into traffic and has almost caused me to be involved in two accidents.

Nov 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER The passenger side visor constantly disengages from the ceiling and falls down blocking the view of the driver. The issue requires taking both hands and shoving the visor back into the ceiling. This happened so often that now the visor won't engage back into the ceiling and the wiring for the mirror light has also broken.

Nov 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER Air is blowing out of Defrost on all settings. This is a safety hazard in the summer as when it is high humidity outside and the A/C is set to blow out of front facing vents only the air still blows out of Defrost and causes the window to fog up and obstructs the view out of the front window. Also during the winter when defrost only made is set the same amount of air is now blowing out at my feet. The main safety concern is during the summer for the obstructed view out of the front window. Had this looked at during routine service and dealership said this is a known issue and they have no way to fix it at this time from RAM.

Nov 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Driving on a two lane highway at speed. The truck shut off, all controlls turned off and park brake applied. The vehicle to the rear nearly rear ended my truck. I swerved onto a side street to get out of traffic, barley missing a power pole. Had vehicle towed to dodge dealer and they are repeatedly stating there is nothing wrong with my vehicle. They are also refusing to pursue the matter any further.

Oct 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Tailgate Issue: I own a 2020 RAM 1500 Laramie and at mileage 22,700, while driving down the highway pulling a 30ft travel trailer, the tailgate of my truck opened up without any warning. The tailgate hit the tongue jack on my camper damaging the tailgate and the tongue jack. If it wasn't for the camper jack keeping the tailgate from fully opening, all the contents in my truck bed could have fallen out of my truck onto the highway without me being aware, possibly causing an accident. I called the dealership and they said they were not aware of any recalls for that type of issue and had me bring it in. At that time the dealer fixed a shim recall that I had already had an appointment for, they took pictures of the damage and had me contact Chrysler customer service. The vehicle and camper have not been repaired. I filed a claim with Chrysler and I have an appointment on 11/3/22, with the Chrysler representative to take pictures of my vehicle. On the NHTSB, I have noticed that this same issue has happened to similar vehicles.

Oct 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER The visor on the driver’s side has had a component fail which causes the visor to fall down and block the driver’s vision. This is a significant safety hazard as it blocks the driver’s view and it takes two hands to push the visor back up so that it is not blocking the driver’s view. The dealer has inspected the vehicle and determined the part is not working properly and has agreed to a warranty repair. However, the part has not been available for four months. Internet reports suggests this is a widespread problem with the Dodge Ram. Having a malfunctioning component that causes the visor to block the driver’s view poses a significant risk that a driver could be in an accident because he or she cannot see the road ahead and cannot clear the field of view without taking both hands off the steering wheel. This is an ongoing risk for Dodge vehicles so long as Dodge does not produce adequate parts to repair the malfunctioning piece.

Oct 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Constant problems with the 12” screen and radio since day 1.LOTS of discussions online about all the problems with the screen locking up when searching for a SiriusXM signal. This become a safety issue because I can’t turn down or up volume for warnings or traffic data etc. I’ve gone to dealership multiple times and they’ve even replaced the radio without success. I’ve spends at least 60 hours over the course of 2 years taking to dozens of people at at least four different companies or groups. Depending on who you talk to you will get different information. This needs to be a forced recall because it is. It an isolated incident and is widespread.

Oct 2022 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at a slow speed, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The driver opened the door and the alarm engaged. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear electrical wiring harness was corroded, and water had entered the vehicle and damaged the unit. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 5,100. The VIN was not available.

Oct 2022 ENGINE The Ram 1500 has a exhaust manifold leak, drives side. Loud noise at start up then quiets down after warming up. The repair parts are on a national backorder. I fear there is a possiblity of fire under the hood (25 years as a firefighter). The truck is parked waiting on a call from the dealer for parts.

Oct 2022 VISIBILITY/WIPER,BACK OVER PREVENTION The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the passenger's side windshield wiper and the rearview camera were inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

Sep 2022 VISIBILITY/WIPER The visor swivel latch to the headliner malfunctioned (without warning) when attempting to move it to the side. This resulted in the visor immediately falling and dangling in front of my face with an inability to see the road. I almost crashed into another vehicle. Research on this issue shows it is a fairly common problem on this model vehicle. After removal of the visor, a fracture of the plastic swivel is clearly evident. I have the visor for inspection if you want to see it. Unfortunately, my vehicle is just over the warranty period at 40,800 miles.

Sep 2022 ENGINE Took truck into dealer for 15,000 mile service. Dealer installed software update covered by recall notice. Truck was running like Swiss watch when taken to dealer. Less than 200 miles after retaking possession and in the middle of nowhere, 2 plus miles North of Tonopah Nevada the engine quit leaving us stranded in 106 heat. Policeman took us back to Tonopah after seeing us stranded. Truck taken by flatbed trailer next day to dealer in Fernley, Nevada. It has now been 10 weeks and dealer has not been able to identify problem and get truck engine operating. RAM customer service has spewed nothing but platitudes and refused to buy back truck or render assistance to hard working dealer that will fix engine.

Sep 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Vehicle turns off while driving without any errors or warnings. Vehicle turned off more than 10 times during my commute home when slowing either to turn or coming to a complete stop at a light/stop sign. Vehicle turns completely off and then abruptly applied the parking brake and clunks into park. Vehicle turns off an multiple speeds. When scanning saw the following stored messages. U0159-00 Lost Communication with Parking Assist Control Module U045A-00 Implausible Data Received From Parking Assist Module There is no warning when it stops in order to allow for safely pulling off and the application of the parking brake and slamming into park is abrupt and jarring. No way to restart till vehicle is completely stopped in traffic and then have to shift back into drive. Had more than one vehicle approach quickly as vehicle stalled on a single lane road after a sharp turn with no place to pull off. Vehicle was purchased used with around 20k and have driven it for 4,000 miles trouble free. There appears to be lots of people with similar experiences and no known solution or recall for the 2020 model but there might be ones for the 2021 and 2022. No appointments available at local dealers, trying to get it in, but not safe to drive.
