| Mar 2023 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his uncle was driving at 70 MPH, the transmission inadvertently shifted from drive(D) to park(P). No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 113,000 |
| Mar 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Engine shuts down on stop. Normal. But sometimes when I take my foot off the pedal, the starter grinds unusually long and when the engine does restart the vehicle lunges forward. As my foot is instinctively on the accelerator, this sometimes could cause a rear end collision with another vehicle. This scenario has twice caused the engine light to come on. No related codes detected by dealer. The issue did present itself during a test drive with a dealer mechanic. He reset the codes to out the light. No code or solution suggested. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2023 | AIR BAGS | The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 25-30 MPH, another vehicle ran a stop sign and crashed into her vehicle head-on. The vehicle then struck a pole. The contact stated that the air bags failed to deploy after the initial crash or after striking the pole. The contact sustained injuries to her ribs, head, left leg, lower back, pelvic bone, and sustained a concussion. Medical assistance was provided. The contact was unaware of any other injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the tow lot and was not diagnosed, inspected, or repaired. The contact was unaware if the vehicle had been deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,738. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 1 Towed Medical attention | 71,738 |
| Mar 2023 | STEERING,ENGINE | November of 2022 I took my truck to the lithium dealership in Reno NV for an exhaust leak they reported back to me that they replaced the manifold passenger side. two weeks later exhaust leak returned they informed me that it was a lifter tick and there was no exhaust leak this was at 51,000 miles. The problem got worse I took it back to them twice with both times I'm telling me it was a lifter tick, but I could smell exhaust in the cab of the vehicle. Now that the truck is out of warranty it's 61,000 miles the exhaust leak got so bad I took it to a different dealership where they have found both exhaust manifolds were leaking and now that it's out of warranty the extended warranty has taken over. but with that said now I am without a car because the extended warranty does not cover loaner cars. the manifolds are both on national back order. the sad part about this is the lithium dealership said they replaced the exhaust manifold and they did not according to the Carson dodge dealership the manifolds were never changed. Apparently this is a known problem with these vehicles and the parts are on national back order. I just find it very disgusting that a dealership would kick the can down the road just so they didn't have to replace the exhaust manifolds or give me a rental car while my truck was sitting there so now I have my truck in the dealership with no ETA on when I'll get it back I'm having to rent a car on my own and still make a truck payments. Don't know if this is a common practice with Ram/Chrysler but this is a despicable way to do business. The second problem is the power steering assist stops working while I'm driving that is also at the dealership waiting for parts that are on national back order. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2023 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V767000 (Fuel System, Gasoline, Engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2023 | STRUCTURE | The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while cleaning the vehicle, he noticed that there was a hole in the truck bed of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the bed needed to be replaced due to improper welds. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 37,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 37,000 |
| Mar 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | First intermittent ticking from engine. Then sudden loud exhaust noise at 15,000 miles. Hemi engine known to have rusted bolts/cracked manifolds in past. Recall? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | Both driver/passenger side adjustable sun visors broke while driving the vehicle, causing the visor to smack me in the face, and almost veering into another street lane without intention to do so. Now that they are both broken, it is ineffective to use in order to block the sun from blinding the driver while operating the vehicle. This presents a very unsafe driving condition, as they are constantly dropping from the fastening arm. Before I attempt to purchase new replacements, I feel this should be replaced at cost by the manufacturer cause there is intricate wiring inside the arms which have detached from the fastener. My vehicle isn't even three years of age and the sun visors are not handled rigorously outside of normal operation handling. See photos provided. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 | Unknown |
| Mar 2023 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The last 3 times I tried to fill my fuel tank the fuel would trickle in to the tank and the pump would shut off. The last time when the tank was finally full, after 10 plus minutes of fueling, the pump did not shut off and gas splashed back at me. It is not the pump because the fill ups were at different gas stations. There has been a Service Tech Bulletin but when I contact RAM they gave me the impression that I would be responsible for the cost of the repairs. This problem is well documented online, numerous complaints, and I feel it is a tremendous safety issue. I have an open case with FCA and we will see how that goes. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2023 | SUSPENSION | The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, the air ride suspension system malfunctioned, causing the frame of the vehicle to be lowered. The contact stated that the failure sometimes occurred on one suspension, and at other times on all the four suspensions. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. After retrieving the vehicle, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 300. The contact stated that they have taken their vehicle to the dealership several times in an attempt to get it repaired but with no luck. The issue seems to be weather related since the most failures were reported when it was cold out. | Crash: No Fire: No | 300 |
| Feb 2023 | ENGINE,FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to be serviced by an independent mechanic, and the mechanic noticed an abnormal sound coming from the fuel injectors. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of gasoline in a short period of time. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by the independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 74,000 |
| Feb 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | This occurred twice under normal operating conditions. Started to proceed when light turned green RPMs went to 6000 and the gas pedal became mush no power, had to put truck back in neutral and then drive. That fixed the problem. This also occurred why driving on highway at 70MPH,applied gas and the RPMS went to 6000 pedal became mush basically lost power then put in neutral then drive again and the problem was fixed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I have a 2020 Ram Rebel. The back window has three leaks with the one in the center being the worst. It is ruining my back seat from the water coming in whenever it rains. It appears all three leaks are coming from the top of the window. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER | Rear window and 3rd brake light leaking multiple times. Rear window replaced multiple times. rear window leaked this time causing an electrical short draining my battery and cause certain electronic parts of the truck not to work properly. Cracks it rear window are extremely prevalent on this vehicle and it is a known issue yet there hasn't been permanent adequate fix by the manufacturer and isn't covered once warranty runs out. the problem is a composite frame to the window that is going to crack no matter what due to temperature changes and flex in the body of the vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY | The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, he noticed that the interior of the vehicle was wet. The contact then stated that he noticed that the rear windshield was cracked, and water was leaking through the crack. The vehicle was taken to J Auto Ranch where it was diagnosed that the windshield plastic seal had cracked from the inside and the windshield needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 63,619. | Crash: No Fire: No | 63,619 |
| Feb 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER | 2020 RAM 1500 with etorque. Truck 12v battery goes dead every 2-3 days. This was caused by a leak in the rear window allowing water to gather behind the rear seat resulting multiple issues including loss of control of navigation system, heater and radio. Dealer states water caused electrical shorts in canbus resulting in multiple system failures. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I was made aware of this recall in October via mail, and since then have tried to make contact with the dealership. I purchased from Carmax and bought the MaxCare warranty, but seeing as this is a recall I took the vehicle to RAM after receiving the recall notice. I told them how this is a serious recall and the fact that there is no remedy was unsafe for me to continue driving. They assured me that RAM was working on it. They offered me the option of purchasing my truck for less than I owed on it and to roll over the remaining balance into a new loan. I declined. On February 3, 2023 I was driving and my vehicle jolted and shut off. Upon starting it up again my check engine light came on. I drove half a mile to a Big O Tires shop to run the code. On a Solis Ultra reader it ran 088 - High Pressure in Fuel Rail. So i took the vehicle straight to the RAM dealership where they offered me the same resolution as last time. I declined and went to Carmax and stated that I am paying for a vehicle that I now cannot drive due to safety and since I have MaxCare that I should be entitled to another vehicle of equitable value since there is currently no remedy. I was told to go back to RAM and talk to manufacturer. I spoke with RAM care and opened a claim and was advised that a remedy is expected in quarter 2 of 2023. After several calls to many different case managers, I was advised that I would have to get a rental out of my own pocket and would hopefully get reimbursed, and that I would have to wait after the weekend to hear anything else. The service rep told me that since there is no remedy currently, the best they can do is look at it and if there are no issues to put the fuel pump back in. This is an unsafe vehicle, and I refuse to continue paying for something that does not work due to the manufacturers fault, nor am I willing to rollover another vehicle loan payment since they are not open to equitable trades. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | While driving down the interstate, the sunroof spontaneously shattered. I was not under a bridge or a tunnel so nothing fell onto the sunroof. It just shattered out of no where. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | The visor on the driver’s side has had a complete fail which causes the visor to fall down and block the driver’s vision. This is a significant safety hazard as it blocks the driver’s view and it takes two hands to push the visor back up so that it is not blocking the driver’s view. The same thing happened to the passenger side less than a year ago and the dealer had no problem replacing it. For some reason they won't honor fixing the driver side. Even though it is widely known that this is an issue with Ram trucks. The dealer has inspected the vehicle and determined the part is broken but extended warranty told the dealer that I needed to pay for it myself. I don't have an extra $300 to spend on a visor that was made inadequately in the first place. Internet reports suggests this is a widespread problem with the Dodge Ram. Having a malfunctioning component that causes the visor to block the driver’s view poses a significant risk that a driver could be in an accident because he or she cannot see the road ahead and cannot clear the field of view without taking both hands off the steering wheel. This is an ongoing risk for Dodge vehicles so long as Dodge does not produce adequate parts to repair the malfunctioning piece | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | I was driving my car west on Sunnyside Ave just before Se 132nd ave at approximately 40 MPH. My truck then abruptly turned off and I lost all power. I coasted safely into the left turn lane and kept the brake on. The truck was completely unresponsive to restarting and there was no function of the start button. There was power in the battery but the engine and dash computer were non functioning. The truck needed to be towed to the dealership where it is located currently at Ron Tonkin Dodge/ram/keep service center at 16800 SE McLoughlin Blvd, Milwaukie, OR 97267. Currently no diagnosis as of 1136 on Friday January 20th. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Water Leaking from rear window which will affect electronics and airbags. found cracks to window frame and wet interior. Contacted Ram 800 number and open case which was denied told would have to pay for myself. manufacture knows about faulty window's and continue to install which they want $1300.00. Buying a $60k truck you would think ram would step up and start fixing these. Just noticed after last rain. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Rear Window had cracked frame due to defect allowed water to enter vehicle during storms running down and blocking vision out back window vision. The water would freeze since defroster malfunctioned from water intrusion hampering visibility. Additionally, resulting water damage to interior and possibly electrical / airbags in ceiling next to frame exposed to water intrusion. Dealer indicated this is consistent problem with all Ram 2020 pickup trucks and older. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | AIR BAGS,STRUCTURE,SEATS | My 2020 Dodge Ram 1500 has water intrusion due to a manufacturer defect in the back window area. There are 2 cracks on either side of the window and and water pours in soaking the carpet and back seats. The water has also effected the back curtain airbags. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | ENGINE | I was making a right turn after being stopped at a light and made it approximately 100 feet before the vehicle just shut off. I was able to steer to the side of the street, stop, and restart the vehicle. I didn’t hear or see anything abnormal but it all happened so far. The dealer is looking at it now (in the next 5-7 days). This is a real safety concern. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
