Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Oct 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The rear window, window seal, or related components have failed and allow water to intrude into the cabin of my vehicle near the back. This water gets the headliner wet and drips down the interior of the rear window, down the rear of the passenger compartment. This water intrusion occurs with very, very light moisture on the vehicle, such as early mornings with morning dew, light rain, or watching the vehicle. The near-daily (due to dew) intrusion of water into the cabin of my vehicle raises safety concerns of mold & mildew in the passenger compartment. My rear window backlite frame is visibly cracked on the interior, matching the symptom pictured in TSB [XXX]. My vehicle has a manufacturer date within the dates noted in the TSB. My vehicle also includes a power sliding window as noted in the TSB. I've been to two dealerships and they both told me they see this problem in RAM trucks "all the time". Both dealers refused to perform a warranty repair under the extended warranty noted in the TSB (150,000 miles) because my VIN is not associated with the TSB in FCA's system even though my vehicle appears to be described as a vehicle affected. I've attached 2 photos to my report. One photo showing the crack as noted in TSB [XXX]. One photo showing the actual crack in my backlite frame. This appears to be a very prevalent issue with a lot of online discussion from many other affected RAM owners. Oct 2023 POWER TRAIN Transfer case has failed per dealer inspection and diagnostics. Several lights turned on. Burning smell in/outside of vehicle. Vehicle will jerk from time to time. Parts are apparently on back order for several weeks and I have been told the vehicle is drivable even though transfer case issues / failures can be a serious safety issue.

Oct 2023 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM recall with no parts available, have tried to schedule recall repair for the hpfp recal on this vehicle and im told there are no parts available for the repairs. now wanting to trade the vehicle because we have to have a dependable vehicle, and everyone is lowballing trade value because of the no repairable recall. i cant afford this loss so im stuck with something that might fail and cause a wreck at any given time .

Oct 2023 VISIBILITY/WIPER The driver side sun visor failed at the attachment point, left side while driving at high speed on the local freeway, obstructing my view of the traffic ahead temporarily. There was no warning and the failure was completely unexpected.

Oct 2023 VISIBILITY/WIPER The drivers side sun visor can fall out of the mechanism that holds it to the interior of the roof without warning. This happened on my ex girlfriends 2019 ram 1500 and just happened to my 2020 ram 1500. The dealer repaired hers for free even though it was out of warranted because it was a “known issue” according to the service department. Today mine fell out, hitting me in the head as I was driving and temporarily obscured my view of the roadway. The same happened to my girlfriend. If this is a known issue why has there not been a recall notice on this? Could easily lead to accident with injury or fatality.

Oct 2023 STEERING Driving at highway speeds, power steering disengages. Drove for about one mile and it reengaged. This repeated itself multiple times and at multiple speeds. Was able to steer but vehicle had no power steering assist. This posed a high risk of accident with injury or death. Have not taken vehicle to the dealer as of yet. Power steering warning indicators displayed during incident.

Oct 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING On Monday, October 10, 2023, I started my truck in the morning when the temperature was 60-65 degrees. The truck turned the rear defroster on and after 10 minutes I put my two boys in the backseat and smelt a burning smell. There was nothing smoking, so I told myself I would look at it once I got back from dropping them off. I pulled out of my driveway and within a minute my back window shattered above my 3 month old. I took it to the Dodge/Ram dealership and they said based on their inspection the third brake light was leaking and water got into/on the window and when the rear defroster turned on it shattered the window. They said it is not covered under warranty even though the main cause was a manufacture defect with the the third brake light leaking water into the vehicle. So this repair is going to cost me $1,500 because of the leak. This is a major safety violation with windows breaking above kids or people in the back seat and electrical getting wet because of the leak in the third break light.

Oct 2023 STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER My truck has had two leaks in the rear window area. I have owned it for 3 years it has 30000 miles on it. The vehicle is in otherwise perfect condition with no damage and no accidents. The first time it required the rear window to be replaced. This time it is uncertain where the leak is coming from. This could cause damage to the electronics as well as the rear airbags. It appears like these leaks are common and Ram is aware of them, but the have not recalled the defective components and provided a new design that does not leak.

Oct 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER BACK OVER PREVENTION: DISPLAY FUNCTION. Rear backup camera failed, requiring the replacement of the radio unit. A rearview camera that does not display an image reduces the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash. Sep 2023 VISIBILITY/WIPER About a year ago the passenger side visor fell from the arm side and was dangling in the window from the cords that operate the light. I almost ran into another vehicle when it happened. About 2 months ago, the driver side did the exact same thing as i was approaching a stoplight I could not see and almost hit the car in front of me.

Sep 2023 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM After I got the vehicle, during the first winter in January of 2021, I was filling up the vehicle at a gas station in Kansas. The fuel pump clicked off long before the tank was full and continued to click off every 3 seconds or so when attempting to continue. I stopped filling the tank at about half full after about 20 minutes in the freezing outside temperatures thinking it might have been something wrong with the pump. The gas gauge only read 1/2 full. I went to the next exit and tried again. Same situation. It took forever and finally after repeating this for about another 20 minutes, it finally did go to full but then leaked gasoline everywhere like it didn't stop because it was clogged or something. Seems to do it frequently when temps are below freezing. What ever repairs were supposedly made, did not work. I am very concerned this is a fire hazard potential if not corrected. I took it to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle and they claimed they replaced the fuel nozzle. But it continues to do this every time it gets below freezing. I am wondering if moisture / vapor is becoming frozen in the line, or that the fuel nozzle system is of poor design where the tank cannot keep up with the venting. Perhaps it was the manufacturer trying to comply with environmental regulations, but failed. In any case I worry about the fuel leaking out and catching on fire from driving or static. It is a serious problem!

Sep 2023 SEAT BELTS Just a normal day, parked the truck in the garage and next morning noticed the Passenger side seat belt stopped working randomly and wouldn’t release. It looks like stuck like after how an accident would make it stuck. I see several recalls for 2019-2020 RAM 1500 pickups but all of them are for driver/left side seat belt. My truck seat belt that stopped working is right side/ passenger side.

Sep 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The rear window leaks from the top whenever it rains or I wash the truck. The excessive leaking is causing water stains on the seats and the headliner and may cause mold and mildew creating a health issue. The dealer told me this is out of warranty and wants me to pay $174 to diagnose it. RAM Customer Service was also unwilling to do anything to take care of the problem. I don't need to diagnose it, I already know it leaks. Furthermore, they already know because two service memos have been sent to the dealers back in 2021. There was also a class action lawsuit filed for the issue in 2022. The memos acknowledge that RAM is very well aware of the defect, but because they refuse to issue a recall they don't deem it bad enough to take care of it. They also want me to pay for the full repair, why would I pay for the full repair of a known defect, inside or outside of the warranty? Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I am going to have to switch my brand loyalty after buying 3 $60,000 Mopar Vehicles from the same dealership. Seems to me, just taking care of the problem would be well worth that kind of customer loyalty. We'll see what the dealership decides.

Sep 2023 ENGINE Exhaust manifold bolts snapping at low milage causing exhaust to possibly leak into the cabin. Most people are getting manifolds resurfaced and replacing the bolt's. If you replace manifold with new, it will warp again and break bolts again. Apparently the manifolds were not “Stress Relieved” in the manufacturing process. Lots of people are complaining and Ram dealers are saying it happens a lot. Cost to fix is approx. $1,000.

Aug 2023 STEERING,AIR BAGS The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle drove over a pothole and made a loud popping sound. The steering wheel became stiff, and the contact jerked the steering wheel to prevent a crash. The steering wheel then inadvertently spun, and the contact slammed on the brake pedal and applied the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The power steering assist, brakes, and several other unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering column and clockspring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Aug 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Afraid of Potential "Black Mold" health exposure due to faulty construction/design/product allowing water to leak into the cab soaking and staining headliner, seats and rugs.
