Jul 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Upon purchase brand new in 2020 with in a week a cylinder had to be replaced. Since then this truck has been in the shop for almost a year in total over the past 2.5 years. The recalled high pressure fuel pump went out at around 60k miles, this incident almost resulted in a major accident in the middle of the night as the power loss to the engine and brakes left me free rolling down the road into a stop light 4 way. When sent for repairs they had to replace the pump 6-7 times before they could give it back to me as well as the entire fuel system. The check engine light came on as I drive off and they had to replace the pump and other parts for the 8th time and kept it for another month. A couple months later the alternator went out and battery shorted on the freeway. And after that repair a few months later the alternator flooded with oil on the freeway in the middle of nowhere and the trucks dash lit up with electrical failure and check engine lights. This time the truck was repaired in 3 weeks and after 100 miles the engine blew completely on the freeway, I never made it home with the truck. They’ve had the truck at the dealership for 2 months the now and are quoting for a complete engine replacement at 72k miles on the eco diesel engine. This truck is a faulty piece of machinery and should not have ever been on the road. They can’t run the teuck for any testing as the engine will run away at max rpm when started.

Jun 2024 SUSPENSION The bags or compressor failed. Dealer could not diagnose which is a common problem. They just change parts and charge you until it’s corrected. Safety factor is off the charts because it makes it undrivable if it loses pressure with no warning. No lights or warning and front will slowly lose pressure until it bottoms out

Jun 2024 STEERING Update to Complaint 11594199 filed on June 13, 2024 While driving the vehicle to the Ram dealership the power steering went out again and stayed out until I arrived at the dealership. Jun 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER I was driving back from Montana and my passenger side sun visor disconnected and was hanging from the wire causing a visibility issue when driving. Approximately 1 year ago the same thing happened to my driver side sun visor. This also caused problems with visibility while driving because it wouldn't remain in the locked position. It would hang by the wires. Both times I had the visor replaced at the Dodge dealership in Prescott Az. I was told my the service advisor that it has been a problem and they have had to replace quite a few. I asked if they have fixed the problem and he stated that it hasn't and its still the original parts. This is going to lead to a serious car accident or death if this problem isn't resolved by Dodge.

Jun 2024 STEERING The electronic power steering has stopped working three times in the last couple of weeks. It stops working and will stay out for 15 to 30 seconds or until the truck is shut off and restarted. The vehicle was taken to a local RAM dealer, and they advised that could not find any failure codes in the history. When the power steering cuts out the dashboard displays a warning to service the power steering. The vehicle is extremely had to steer when the power steering cuts out. When I picked up the vehicle at the dealer, they completed an oil change and recall on the tailgate but there was no mention of the main reason I took the vehicle in for service which was the loss of power steering. The service writer stated he did not list that since they did not charge me for the power steering diagnosis. If he listed, it there would be an additional charge on my bill. The loss of power steering is a safety hazard since it makes the vehicle very hard to steer and makes any turns or sudden changes in direction to avoid potential hazards impossible.

Jun 2024 ENGINE Component Failure: Around 45,000 miles, my vehicle equipped with the 5.7L HEMI E-torque V8 had both exhaust manifolds cracked with large exhaust leaks pre-catalytic convertor Safety Risk: My vehicle equipped with the 5.7L HEMI E-torque V8 was idling in a parking lot for around 1 hour while I waited inside the vehicle. Cold ambient temperature with windows up and heater on. I noted having a slight headache and started smelling what seemed to be pre-catalytic convertor exhaust fumes (rich fuel smell). I stepped out of the vehicle and smelled the exhaust at the rear of the vehicle, which did not match. I attributed the smell to a nearby vehicle. One week later, the same event occurred with no other vehicles parked around me. The exhaust leak was large enough to pull exhaust fumes into the cabin through the HVAC system. High risk of carbon monoxide poisoning if the vehicle was to sit long enough, risking both myself and my child's safety while we sat in the vehicle. Problem Reproduced: Yes, brought the vehicle CJDR dealer who diagnosed the vehicle with "both exhaust manifolds cracked" and replaced both exhaust manifolds under warranty. Has component been inspected: Unknown. Parts were removed from vehicle as covered under warranty at dealer and replaced with new parts. Any Warnings: No warning lights on dashboard or DTCs for catalytic convertor performance, lean/rich banks, or other exhaust/emissions related. Exhaust seemed slightly louder on cold start. Smelling of unburnt/pre-cat exhaust fumes that prompted dealer visit.

Apr 2024 VISIBILITY/WIPER Driver's side sun visor repeatedly comes loose from ceiling attachment causing the visor to drop into driver's sight line completely blocking forward view. It happens suddenly, often as I'm approaching a stop light, and is a massive safety concern. I have had several near misses where I've almost rear-ended cars in front of me. I reported the issue to the dealer at my last service and, while I was told this was a "common issue" with Dodge Rams, the dealer/Dodge would not cover the cost and it would be $500+ to repair with parts and labor. If this is as prevalent as the dealer indicated, this should be a safety recall.

The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the turbocharger and the harness were replaced. Additionally, the contact stated while driving and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond. The check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensor and the electronic throttle body had failed. Additionally, there was water leaking inside the vehicle through the third brake light, and the dealer repaired the third brake light. The dealer cleared the codes; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. Apr 2024 STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE Steering Rack and Pinion - Began malfunctioning (noise, and vibration when turning) at less than 10,000 miles. I visited Ram Dealer several times between 10,000 - 34,000 miles and they stated they could not replicate the issue. I drove the vehicle with their technical and they agreed there was an issue. Finally they replaced the Steering System when it had about 34,000 miles. This is a potential safety issue. Drive Selector Switch - I have had 3 selector switches (move from Park to Drive, reverse, etc.) malfunction and require replace (started in side of standard warranty), they appear to be replacing faulty part with same part. Most recent repair in April 2024 only lasted about 150 miles before the device went bad again. This is a potential safety issue. Radio - My 12" radio has been replaced 3 times. At times it impacts the controls of the vehicle features, heating, air-conditioning, etc. Starting at less than 10,000 miles inside normal warranty. Water Leak - I have a rear cabin water leak...mold and mildew in car (39,000 miles). The dealer did an initial inspection and said it had a know issue...back window and/or brake light leaks and requires further evaluation. This is a health issue - due to mold and mildew.
