Jan 2026 SUSPENSION The vehicle continues to feel very bumpy when we drive. Even if I stand in the 2nd row and press up and down, it makes a squeaky, sometimes loud rattling / knocking sound. I have taken this to the dealer multiple times and they tired to tighten shock absorbers and the padding around it but the problem hasn't gone. They ask me to leave the car with them without getting a loaner which is hard to do as we need the car. They have made it hard to get the problem solved, not taking ownership and have denied any issue with the suspension despite multiple complaints by consumers in online forums and what i have personally experienced.

Jan 2026 SUSPENSION I purchased a new 2020 Hyundai Palisade SEL. When I only had 47,683 miles I had my rear shocks replaced for the third time. Poor handling, and noise when the shocks fail. The shocks needing replaced was confirmed by the dealer service department. No warning lamps or messages were displayed.

Jan 2026 STRUCTURE 2020 Hyundai Palisade bought new with extended warranty that was supposed to "cover everything". The plastic items on the vehicle started failing with sun damage & the paint on the lift gate & roof started failing in 2023. The plastic items failing are the both driver/passenger rear view mirrors, the rear lift gate spoiler that houses one of the brake lights, the black trim on each side of the spoiler, the paint on the rear lift gate & paint on the roof including around the moon roofs. I brought it to the attention of the dealership I go to each time I brought it in for service or other warranty issues. I feel like I was blown off & not taken seriously. When they finally found & pull up my extended warranty to look at what it covered & inspected the sun damage/defect On June 27, 2025 they told me the manufacturer's warranty expired & it was not covered under my extended warranty. I voiced my frustration, saying they knew about this issue for about a year & when it possibly could have been under the warranty but not it is not. I asked how I can escalate this & they gave my the consumer affairs phone # for Hyundai. I contacted them, case#[XXX], and at their request I went to a dealership for them to inspect the damage/defect. I was later told the same thing, it is out of warranty. After researching my issue, I have discovered this vehicle has a recall for this exact issue, but for different paint colors. Just not my SUVs color blue. Seeing how this damage happened in such a short period of time & the amount of damage/defect is not normal given that timeframe, I am worried about it getting worst quickly. This could affect the function of the brake light & rear view mirrors thus affecting my safety, the function of the vehicle, & it's value. Jan 2026 ENGINE Dear NHTSA, I'm reporting a serious safety issue with my 2020 Hyundai Palisade (3.8L V6) involving excessive oil consumption without low-oil warning lights. Timeline: Oil changed: August 13, 2025 → Engine stalling/rough idle → Checked Oct 27, 2025: completely out of oil Oil changed again: October 27, 2025 → Same symptoms recur → January 16, 2026: completely out of oil again Usage: ~300 miles/week (1,200 miles/4 months) using full synthetic 5W-30—far below Hyundai's 7,500-10,000 mile interval. Safety Risk: No low oil warning despite total depletion x2, risking catastrophic engine failure while driving. Known Lambda II V6 issue per TSB 20-01-0001. Request: Investigation into oil consumption recall and sensor failure.

Jan 2026 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE The GDI v6 motor that’s in it shudders and rattles when at idle. There’s metallic shavings and gas smell on the dipstick. It’s always low on oil and smokes a little at idle aswell. It’s completely ran out of oil and been to the shop 3x so far in a years time. Add oil to it every 2-3 weeks at this point ,It’s not leaking oil it’s definitely burning it. Once the dealership even had to come tow it to the shop the car shut off in the middle of the road and then again in the driveway as my wife was trying to turn into the driveway she lost all power and steering she ended up in the middle of the front yard, thank god she was just getting home at the time of the incident. I’ve heard of the same engine giving problems and having an open recall for similar issues pertaining to a bearing and or rings being damaged or broken allowing for the oil to be dripping or being burnt. The vehicle is a family vehicle and gets driven daily by my wife to and from the kids school and the grocery store it’s not driven hard or for very long periods of time. I would like to know if there’s anything that could be done about this issue. I’ve looked to see if the recall was open for this model palisade but it only shows for the Santife models even though it’s the same engine. The shop and dealers always tell me it’s nothing and just keep up with oil changes but that’s near impossible when it runs out of oil before the next oil change is due.

Jan 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The weather became cold outside. After first frost overnight, an oil leak started underneath the hood next to the front passenger side tire. Got in be serviced 11/19. Told the plastic piece to oil housing assembly cracked and had 9 other palisades in for same exact issue. No warning lamps. Cost $519 to replace part.

Jan 2026 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE Check engine light came on and stayed on. When using heat for car it was not heating up well or to temp. Got in to be serviced 12/16/25-12/18/25. Replaced a plastic part in engine and said engine was not heating up like it should. Cost $814. Reset check engine light. On 1/2/26 reversed car out of driveway into street and car came to abrupt stop and would not shift into any other gears. Another vehicle was coming up the street and almost collided with us and I could not get my vehicle to move which was blocking the road. Warning message said “Shifter System Malfunction: Service Immediately.” Pushed power button to turn off vehicle. Turned back on and able to get into drive to park back in driveway. Definitely having electrical issues and multiple problems with car since October 2025 when weather became colder for winter.

Jan 2026 ENGINE Engine is burning/consuming EXCESSIVE oil before required oil change. The oil levels are low enough that the vehicle will shutter or stall when coming to a stop. There are NO INDICATOR lights to advise of low oil, or NO oil!! This is a known issue with 2020 Hyundai Palisades.

Dec 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE The instrument cluster seems to fail more so in the hotter weather. The speedometer, RPMs and gas gauge just stop working altogether. This seems extremely similar to the issues of other Hyundai vehicles that were recalled. The blind spot monitoring turns on and off as it pleases and there is a message that comes up sometimes that say it has been turned off due to electrical failure. The HDMI port in the counsel does not work but half the time so using android auto fails constantly. The radio signal is very poor in the car, resulting in static and high pitched noises on the stations and cannot use regular stations. There also is a huge oil consumption and oil burn smell and leak. This also seems very common for other Hyundai vehicles that have been recalled. Having to put 4-5 quarts in per month and only drive it maybe 1,500 miles in that time frame. There is a pause bumpiness when having to accelerate sometimes as well, followed by failure of oxygen sensor smells and baffles within the muffler seem to often have weird sounds. Have had the vehicle for 1 year and it was bought as a Hyundai certified pre-owned vehicle. It only has about 85K miles on it.

Dec 2025 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM While being inspected at the dealership, multiple fuel injectors (#1 and #3) were found to be leaking. This presents a severe fire hazard as fuel is escaping onto engine components. The dealership confirmed the leak and suggested replacing all six injectors due to potential systemic failure, but the manufacturer (Hyundai) is refusing 100% coverage. I have been without a vehicle for over a week, and this is a critical safety defect that could lead to an engine fire or stalling while driving.

Dec 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE On July fourth, while driving, the vehicle began to shake and make a rattling noise, shifted into park, and the dashboard lights lit up. While attempting to reach the safe side of the road while driving downhill on a busy road, the car lost power. I was able to pull over, restart the car, and reach a safe destination. I took the vehicle to the mechanic, who initially said I needed new tires, so all four tires were replaced. Three days later, the incident with the car shifting and losing power occurred again. The second time, I took it to the Hyundai dealership, which determined that only an oil change was needed, although I had completed regular maintenance on the vehicle. In November, the vehicle began shaking again and lost power while in motion. Again, the vehicle was taken to the Hyundai dealership, which stated that there were possible issues with the oil consumption.

Nov 2025 ENGINE Twice the engine oil consumption was bone dry. No warning lights or oil leaks on the driveway were seen. The engine without oil was subject to destruction . We replaced the oil twice - with documentation . Oil changes were made within 6 months since we purchased the car ( documentation was given ). It is known that specific models were affected by a bad engine that was installed ! Hyundai has offered nothing but aggravation even though it is known that there is a problem with specific engines that were put into the 2020 Hyundai palisade .

Nov 2025 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing excessive oil consumption. The contact stated that oil was added on several occasions; however, the oil level was low after several months. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, the contact noticed that while the vehicle was idling at a traffic light, the vehicle shuddered abnormally. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with excessive oil consumption. The contact was referred to a local dealer for assistance. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where it determined that an oil consumption test was needed, and an oil change needed to be performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 930.

Nov 2025 SUSPENSION Vehicle is experiencing a breakdown in chassis with the failure of at least one rear selfleveling shock absorber on the right rear suspension of the vehicle and possibly the same condition exists on the left rear suspension. Concern exists for the shock absorber mount to completely become detached from the frame assembly resulting in loss of stability and vehicle control. Hyundai dearlership has been contacted for assistance in remedy of the situation but they have failer to respond to request for replacement/repair of the failed shock absorber mount which has been been noted in a Hyundai Service bulletin.

Nov 2025 SEAT BELTS,ENGINE Engine started burning oil at around 70,000 miles. It now runs almost completely out of oil at around 5,000 miles since last oil change, not even close to reaching the manufacturer recommended interval of 7500 miles between oil changes. On top of the engine consuming oil at an alarming rate, there are no warning indicator lights that turn on to let you know your oil level is critically low. At around 74,000 miles?, Hyundai did a combustion cleaning. I've had two oil changes and it was back to vibrating, knocking, shifting hard, etc, right before a 3rd one at 5,300 miles since the last one and it stalled. The vehicle has now stalled twice, all engine lights flashed, then car stalled. Thankfully, this was not on an interstate or major road. This is a major problem!

Nov 2025 ENGINE This report describes a catastrophic engine failure, framing the event in the context of the widespread Hyundai GDI engine oil consumption issue and its impact on oil-dependent systems like the CVVT/OCV. Description of Incident @ 148,000 miles my vehicle oil was changed. On May 15, 2025, @ 151,000 miles my 2020 Hyundai Palisade was serviced at Patterson Hyundai Tyler (3120 S SW Loop 323, Tyler, TX 75701) for the replacement of the oil intake valve (OCV/CVVT solenoid). With reports of oil consumption. This type of service is often necessitated by sludge or contamination from excessive oil consumption clogging the valve screens and restricting oil flow to the VVT system. Shortly after this service, on 05/22/25, the engine experienced a catastrophic failure. There was an immediate and loud metallic grinding noise (consistent with severe internal bearing/connecting rod damage), followed by complete loss of engine power and instantaneous stalling. The failure is assessed to be a result of the underlying GDI defect related to excessive oil consumption, which can lead to internal engine starvation. This starvation may have been triggered or exacerbated by a failure within the oil circulation path (potentially involving the recently serviced OCV or adjacent components). The vehicle is part of the population of Hyundai GDI engines known for issues where low oil levels—due to consumption—or contamination lead to bearing and connecting rod failure. The vehicle has all maintence records and can provide them. The vehicle is currently located at Greenville Hyundai at 5395 I-30 Frontage Rd, Greenville, TX 75402 and is available for inspection upon request. Service Manager is Isaac.

Nov 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE Issues began in November of 2024 Began with a a oil consumption test and failed. Submitted for a new engine due to high oil consumption 3 quarts in 1,000 miles. Waited 6 months for a new engine to be available. July 2025 noted oil leaking brought in for repair and stated it was a boot joint that was leaking. Multiple return trips to repair since oil was still leaking. Check Engine light came on in , September and a faulty sensor in engine was noted (for mixing air and gas?), replaced sensor. Oil still continues to leak and after insisting they take the entire engine out to figure out where it was coming from a leaking faulty oil plug was noted on the rear side of the engine.

Nov 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I am the 3rd time owner of this palisade. Car was bought after a transmission replacement at 27,000 miles. (Second transmission). At around 70,000 miles, we started to have oil consumption problems/ignition coil problems. After a slew of tests and other recommend procedures that cost us money out of pocket, hyundai recommended to get a new engine. We get the new engine. They call to tell us the new engine is done, and proceed to share the transmission is bad and it needs a new one (3rd transmission). They are asking us to pay for the transmission as well. We want a buy back as we think this is a lemon car. 3 transmissions and a new engine under 85000 miles is not good and definitely grounds for investigation. These repeated failures make it unsafe/unreliable for us to drive our 6 month old baby in, let alone my wife and my myself. . We request and investigation/buyback.

Nov 2025 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Our motor has been consuming a lot of oil, we were told that Hyundai knows about the issue and that there is nothing they can do.
