| Oct 2021 | VISIBILITY | The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH, an explosion was heard. Later, the sounds of marbles rolling around the vehicle were heard. When the contact opened the sunroof, she noticed the sunroof glass had detached. There was no impact on the sunroof that could have caused it to shatter. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the next available appointment would be in November. The contact contacted an independent mechanic and was able to schedule an upcoming appointment. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact they would call back. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 40,000 |
| Oct 2021 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | Car was purchased new in May of 2020 and all systems worked as expected. After approx 3 months and 2000 miles the rear backup camera began to pixilate and then failed resulting in a blue screen. Went to a different dealer and they advised replacement of the camera. Returned vehicle to another dealer and they replaced the camera and it worked for about a month then pixilated and failed again. Took the car to a different dealer who checked the connections and cable and advised that the camera needed replacement again. This will be 4 Hyundai dealers that have looked at the car and camera now has a blue screen. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | Windshield crack appeared near the roof line just to the drivers side of the rear view mirror and traveled immediately ~18 inches diagonally towards the passenger wiper blade. There appears to be a very tiny nick where the crack started, but if something hit the windshield it was so small we never heard it and the crack traveled instantly across the windshield. The car was hand washed the day prior and no cracks/chips were evident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | When driving down the tollway in my city early in the morning, no cars around for at least 200 yards, something small hit my windshield causing a spiderweb crack in the center of windshield. Will have owned the vehicle for 2 weeks as of tomorrow and has less than 3k miles on it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | SEAT BELTS | I have a 2020 hyundai palisade and it only has 9000 miles on it. The driver side seat belt and the second row middle seat belt will not buckle anymore. The driver seat belt start just a few month after i bought the car. The second row middle seat belt issue looks like came with the new car , we did not know because we did not use that seat until now. The dealer is making this my issue and they are telling me , this is due things stuck in the seat belt and asking me to pay to fix the issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | While we were in a store shopping the windshield spontaneously cracked. No reason, not caused by a rock chip or any other impact. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER | My back windshield shattered unprovoked once again. This is the second time. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2021 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | I walked out to my vehicle in the driveway this morning and the windshield was cracked for no apparent reason. There were no visible chips near the crack. Crack extended from lower Driver's side corner upwards and across to almost the center-line. I also had to previously repair two chips in the windshield that did not appear to be from debris damage. It would appear that the windshield is defective as installed at the factory. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER | The rear windshield shattered unprovoked. This was only 3 weeks after being repaired for the same issue. This is the third time. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | While driving in heavy rains , check engine light comes up and vehicle starts vibrating. Once the vehicle is stopped and restarted the light & vibration goes away. This happened twice in 2 months ( July & aug 2021) and while driving in Interstate. I did report to the dealer/service manager after the first time and they were not able to pull up any logs/codes from the vehicle computers. The second time, it happened, I took the photo of the same. First time it occured when I had about 17500 miles on the vehicle. Second time it was 19643 miles. Both times it was raining heavily and speed was between 40- 50 miles/hour | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2021 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | At 12,800 miles, while parked, a 18'' to 24'' windshield crack spontaneously appeared originating from the lower, passenger side edge, sloping up towards driver side. Nothing came into contact with the glass, and no chipped starting point is visible. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2021 | STEERING | Steering wheel makes whirring sound when turned. Service department aknowledged the problem and replaced the worm gear in the steering shaft. Issue went away. Now about 5000 miles since repair the same issue is back. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | No problems | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2021 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | On interstate highway in South Dakota in September 2020, a small pebble came off the road surface creating a small chip on front windshield. Within one hour the windshield had a crack horizontally covering the entire windshield. This caused a complete one day delay on our vacation trip as the windshield had to be replaced at a local Safelite location. Certainly the delay was an inconvenience but more important we are concerned about our safety. This occurred when vehicle was less than 2 months old. Now it is July, 2021 and on another interstate a small pebble came off the road and caused a small chip in the lower left windshield. Next day the small crack started to run requiring a compete windshield repair AGAIN. If a small pebble can do this immediate damage, I fear the entire windshield could shatter causing a major accident or at worst a fatality. Safelite and Travelers Insurance have all documentation regarding the two incidents. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2021 | AIR BAGS | The vehicle's air bag warning light on dash was noted to be intermittently illuminated when car being driven, and only when passenger is in front passenger seat. Car taken to dealer, air bag sensor in front seat to be replaced. Problem has persisted despite being repaired three times by the dealership. Error codes remain the same or similar when checked by dealership. Repair records can be furnished on request. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2021 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | A small rock hit the windshield and a huge crack ran all the way across at 7,000 miles. Before I even Had time to replace the windshield another crack in a totally different location developed. Extremely unsafe! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2021 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | The auto glass must all be restored. It’s essential that the windows/ windshield be in good condition at all times. Driving with a chipped or cracked windshield may put me and my passengers at risk for injury in the event of a rollover or collision. I do not feel safe with this windshield as the crack spread halfway within 24hours. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2021 | ENGINE | About 1 1/2 hours into a 7 hr trip driving on vacation the car started running rough. Upon slowing the engine shut off several times. The car started knocking and the check engine light came on about 30 min from our destination. We took it to the closest Hyundai dealer who informed us the engine needed to be replaced because it had no oil in it. We NEVER had a low oil light or check oil light come on. I had checked the oil life before we left on our trip and knew I had a cushion of several hundred miles before it was due for an oil change. This could have caused all of us in the car since the car shut off and all power was gone. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2021 | WHEELS | My tire was losing air so we took it to a local tire shop to be repaired thinking it had a nail in it or something. Turns out it was losing air because the wheel was cracked and slightly bent. The only 2 people who drive this car are my husband and I and neither of us could recall hitting or running over anything. The Hyundai dealer refused to submit a warranty claim (car had 16,200 miles on it), so we called Hyundai corporate and they submitted a warranty claim that would be assigned to a case manager and they would get back to us. That was 5/24 and by 6/15 we still hadn't heard anything back from them in spite of calling 3 more times to check the status of the case. I believe either this particular wheel was defective or the engineering design of the wheel is wrong. We still have the wheel for inspection. No warning lights other than the low tire pressure warning came on. The dealer inspected the wheel twice and Les Schwab (tire place) inspected it twice and installed a used ("take-off") wheel for us yesterday. The tire had no damage and there was no damage of any kind anywhere on my car, so I find it hard to believe that we could have hit something so hard to crack the wheel but had no other damage and couldn't remember any such event. The crack is over 1 inch long and absolutely could have caused a blowout or accident, so we weren't able to use the car much for a month except right around our home. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER | VEHICLE WINDSHIELD STARTED CRACKING AT THE TOP MIDDLE AND MOVED DOWN THE WINDSHIELD. WE DID NOT NOTICE ANY ROCK HITS TO HAVE CAUSED IT. WITHIN 2 DAYS THE CRACK SPREAD ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TO THE EDGE. IT HAS NOW STARTED TO DO THE SAME TOWARDS THE DRIVERS SIDE. FROM RESEARCHING FOR A REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD IT SEEMS LIKE THE WINDSHIELD CRACKING IS A MAJOR ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2021 | SEAT BELTS | It is extremely difficult to buckle the seatbelt around our childrens' booster seats. We have a six and nine-year-old who are fully capable of buckling their own seats. However, they are unable to buckle in this vehicle due to the limited slack on the buckle and the narrow captains' chairs in the second row. I am barely able to buckle them and often concerned that the clip did not secure properly due to the challenging nature of the process. This is a safety concern because if we were to wreck and it was not secured, my children's lives would be at risk. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2021 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | The windshield was hit with a pebble at a low speed of around 35mph. There were no other cars within about 3 car lanes, so this was not a high-impact situation. However, the pebble cracked still cracked the windshield. The dealers confirmed that this model vehicle has a high incidence of cracked windshields that could potentially lead to injury or harm. I am worried that a truly high-impact rock would be life-threatening to the passengers. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | emergency brakes came on ,on the freeway twice ,and one in front ,no other car around. on the right side a person in the parking lot while the car was moving about 2 mph ,walked next too the car and it felt like one brake came on only to slow me down and did not stop ,just braked for 2 seconds ,like on the freeway all the brakes came on the freeway, but in the parking lot only one came on it felt like. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | THIS IS A USED 2020 PALISADE. I AM UNABLE TO CHANGE THE OWNER ON THE MYHUNDAI APP SO THE OLD OWNER CAN START MY CAR REMOTELY, CHANGE THE MODES OF AUTOPILOT CRUISE CONTROL WITHOUT MY PERMISSION ENDANGERING THE PASSENGERS. THE WEBSITE TO UPDATE THE OWNER IS BROKEN. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI SUPPORT 5 TIMES OVER A MONTH AND THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED AND UPDATED MY INFORMATION AND TO UPDATE THE OWNER BUT IT STILL WON'T ALLOW ME TO CHANGE IT AFTER SUBMITTING THE REG, BILL OF SALE, AND MY DRIVERS LIC IMAGE AS REQUESTED. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2021 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | Windshield chipped and subsequently cracked with no noticeable impact with any rock or other object. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
