| Jan 2022 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Vehicle engine light came on and then gave me a service shifter alarm error. With the error I lost power steering traveling thru the mountains on the interstate in the snow. The dash lights started flickering followed by numerous fault codes. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2022 | SUSPENSION | The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that upon entering the highway at 60 MPH, his vehicle hit a few bumps in the road and the vehicle experienced the "death wobble". The contact stated that he had experienced the failure while between two semi-trucks as he firmly held onto the steering wheel. The contact also stated that he lost control of the vehicle and that his vision had been obstructed due to the violent shaking moving his glasses off his face. As the vehicle began to slow down, the shaking stopped, and the contact pulled over. The contact then carefully drove the vehicle home without incident. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer who initially denied that they had never heard of such a failure. The contact left the vehicle in the dealer's possession for a week; the dealer then notified the contact of a service bulletin which was related to the failure. A software update was performed on the vehicle and returned to the contact. Despite the repair, the contact stopped driving the vehicle because of fear that the failure might occur again. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 30,000 |
| Jan 2022 | POWER TRAIN,STRUCTURE | Severe front in wobble. Took 3 visits to get it fixed. Bubbling paint, was in the shop 5 weeks for repaint. Loud whining noise in the drive train, still waiting on dealership to address, hopefully I won't get stranded in the mean time. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2022 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | purchased vehicle in sept 2019 and had no issues until recently. Hitting bumps on freeway causes extreme shaking which lasts upwards of 6 to 10 seconds. Having this occur on icy roads can result in total loss of stability. I've taken this into the dealership already once, and issue still occurs. From research it looks like this issue has been present in jeeps for decades. Why hasn't the NHTSA forced jeep to notify the public of the issue? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | The defrost is absolutely terrible. Both left and right vents do not push air causing the right and left side of the windshield to freeze up and windshield wipers to freeze up. Had to pull over in an unsafe location because visibility went to zero and created a very unsafe situation for me and my family. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | SEATS | The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the lever located on the headrests of both the front driver’s and passenger’s seats failed to recline as needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | STEERING | While in 38 degree weather, the steering wheel locked up when turning to the left. Turning to the right was unaffected. This occurred immediately after engine start. I used a far larger amount of force than usual to push the steering wheel in an attempt to get it to unlock. This eventually did work, but every time I tried to turn to the left, the steering wheel felt like it was catching on something and required more force than I was accustomed to. This continued to happen though it eased as the drive went on and the car warmed up. The next day at around 35 degree weather the same thing occurred though not as bad as that first instance. It kept feeling stuck when turning left and the more I pushed it the more it eased. This did not happen over the summer when the temperature was repeatedly over 60 degrees. The binding occurred at both high and low speed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | at 70mph or higher driving over rough highway transition joints will cause steering wheel and entire car to shake violently until slowing down to 60 mph | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The radio/infotainment system would reset every time I would have my Bluetooth & usb connected to my phone. This started about 4 months ago. Weeks later, my battery would be dead so I would have to jumpstart it. This started 2 weeks before the incident. The day of the incident, my car failed to start right after taking my foot off the brake while my car had shut off(due to the gas feature) at a stop light. I hooked up a jump kit but it did nothing. All the lights in my car began to blink like Christmas lights & even my windshield wipers went off until my car slowly & completely shut off in the middle of traffic. This took place on November 17th, 2021. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | POWER TRAIN | The entire clutch system failed and the vehicle passenger compartment filled with smoke. It was difficult to breath and burned my eyes I had to pull over immediately. I had the the vehicle towed to the dealer, upon arrival the dealer indicated that there was a safety recall that was limited to “computer components” and involved a software fix. They then proceed to tell me that the the entire clutch system had failed and they could not tell if it was my driving or the recall parts that had impacted. They then proceed to hand me a $2,000+ repair bill, this is a top of the line vehicle less than three 4 years old with no more than 43k miles. I reached out to Jeep/Mopar/FCA/Stallantis whatever they are going by today, and was referred back to the dealer without any resolution. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the rearview camera would inadvertently turn blue or black while reversing. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed by an independent mechanic or dealer. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the failure was a manufacturer’s defect. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The manufacturer also advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 30,000 |
| Oct 2021 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | Driver's side sun visor attachment to roof fails unexpectedly causing visor to fall and obstruct driver's vision. | Oct 2021 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | After switching to four wheel drive my jeep indicates that the axle locker needs service. I only used the lockers on it once back in 2019 during September. I was on gravel road and the light came on. Picture below is not mine but that is the error that occurs. Also seems like my lockers at engaged at all times. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | While driving with traffic at highway speeds, bumps in the road surface cause the Front End of my 2019 JEEP WRANGLER to bounce violently and I have to reduce the speed to around 45 MPH to have the suspension return to normal. I have brought the vehicle to Golling Jeep Dealership 3 times. They replaced the Steering Damper in May of 2021which temporarily resolved the issue. I brought the car back in August and September where the dealership reports they could not duplicate the failure. In a recent Detroit Free Press Article, this condition was called an "Alleged Death Wobble". Golling tells me there is nothing wrong. There was no accident, no known damage and there was no warning of any kind. I just watch for bumps and drive slower - not with the speed of traffic on I 696 in Oakland County Michigan. I believe this is Unsafe and I told Golling's Service team the same. What Can I do? | Jul 2021 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | I own a 2019 Jeep Rubicon and the steering wheel rotates violently (~25° back and forth) while driving at any speed and when I hit a bump on the road. Even a small bump on the road causes this problem. I have researched this and some Jeep websites call it a ‘death wobble’. 25° violent steering wheel rotation at 70 mph is very startling it is an extremely unsafe. It almost caused me to crash on more than 3 occasions. There are no apparent recalls about this issue but this problem is reported on several Jeep websites. Are there any plans to implement any sort of safety warning or a recall about this problem? Thank you and please keep me posted. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
