| Nov 2024 | SEAT BELTS | ALL 5 seatbelt retractors have gone out at the same time estimated $2000, the dealership put in a claim to Crysler Customer Care that stated they would cover 40% and I would have the remaining 60% since the vehicle has 53,000 miles and is out of warranty. Although, even IF it were still in warranty that part IS NOT covered. This is a safety issue and the manufacture should be responsible. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Screen is delaminating and sometimes it will randomly hut a button on the screen (seat warmer, radio change, etc). Sometimes this is sudden while on highway and distracts me to see what happened. Thus also makes it much harder to see when using backup cam sometimes to the point of it being useless. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | uconnect display has air bubbles forming on top left and top right corners. Both bubbles run down the side of the display. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | uconnect display has air bubbles forming on top left and top right corners. Both bubbles run down the side of the display. We own two of the same Grand Cherokees and both exhibit the same failure. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | Vehcile affected: 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Overland _ 2 wheel drive Vehicle Mfr Date - October 2018 The vehicle was in Park and engine was off. I got in the driver seat, mashed the brake, pressed the starter button, the starter responded so I immediately took my hand off the button. Even without my hand on the button the starter button would not disengage… it just repeatedly kept spinning and spinning and spinning. Kind of like it was hung or something. I had even tried pressing the start button again to make it stop but that didn’t work… (The button went in and came back out with no problem so the button itself was not stuck) The starter just wouldn’t disengage. I couldn’t figure out what to do. It did this for at least 30 to 45 seconds…. Like, My husband had time to get out of the backseat and WALK all the way around the front car to the driver’s door. Right before he got there I tapped the brake pedal with my foot and it FINALLY disengaged and stopped trying to start the engine. This problem Scared the beejeebies out of me!!! The engine never started up when the starter wouldn’t disengage. I had plenty of gas too - Just under a full tank of gas. Nothing coded. No problem indicator lights came on. Husband said it acted like either the bendix was stuck OR motor was spin over but would not successively crank up … it just kept spinning on its own I was not pressing the starter button anymore. This is the hardest thing to describe! All I know is… that was NOT normal! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | SEATS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee; Manufacture Date October 2018 Vehicle engine off and vehicle in park in the driveway. Came out to the car to get something out of it and found that the passenger side active headrest safety feature had deployed. My car was not involved any type of collision - nothing has hit my car. It just popped out all on its own when no one was in the car and the vehicle wasn’t even turned on. I have seen SEVERAL reports on this problem, and Jeep agreed to extend the warranty on this problem indefinitely but only on year models up to 2018. My vehicle was manufactured in 2018 but the dealer says my vehicle VIN is not included for this warranty. That’s ridiculous! The same exact problem has occurred to my headrest that they cover for everyone else but not my vehicle. Same problem, made in the same year as the other vehicles were made but mine not covered because the vehicle is labeled as a 2019 design. Also, the faulty part is also made of plastic!! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | My jeep has a screen on the dashboard that controls the radio, navigation, and settings for the vehicle (i.e. the main "navigation screen"). All of the safety and advanced driver assistance systems are controlled through this screen and user interface. There is no other way to control/adjust these systems. There is a widespread issue with the late generation WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokees where the screen delaminates, rendering the entire screen and user interface non-functional. This results in a safety issue where multiple systems (including the ADAS) cannot be cannot be adjusted or used. I reached out to Jeep/Chrysler/Stellantis for assistance in repairing/replacing the screen. The denied a claim to repair or replace the screen. I do not feel safe operating a vehicle where I cannot control or adjust critical operations of the car. I believe this widespread issue of screen delamination should be considered for a recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | STEERING | While merging onto an interstate, the steering wheel became stuck in the R turn position. In order to return the wheel to the center position, driver had to pull steering wheel back to center. This issue only occurs when the car is going greater than 35 mph. Driver can let go of steering wheel and the steering wheel is stuck in the R turn position and car continues to turn right. It does not happen when turning left or merging left. It happens on a daily basis when merging onto interstate. This issue has increased to about 2-3 times daily for the past 2 weeks and increasing in occurrences. It has been reproduced by a mechanic. No warning lamps or messages appeared on dash. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | POWER TRAIN | On three occasions over the last three years my vehicle has randomly lost power and I have had to pull over and turn the vehicle off, place in Park and restart the engine. The latest incident happened on I95 in heavy traffic, and I was lucky to no be involved in an accident. This time the engine did not restart immediately but only after a 15-minute wait. I received no check engine light and no computer indications of the failure. I know this is an issue with Jeep as my wife and sister have had the same issues in other jeep models. on all occasions the dealerships said they have no idea of what the issue could be and really offered no help. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE | I purchased a 2019 grand Cherokee and the radio started to delaminating. Called Jeep cares and they told me if I went and got a diagnostic saying that The screen was delaminating, and I got a diagnostic that said that they would put it in the system and it would be covered was ever said to me about a warranty because I’m over my warranty, but I have an extended warranty through Lafontaine. It’s called easy care and when they told me that I was excited because, I was gonna get my radio fixed because the radio is the main brains to the car controls the camera on the phone or settings. I’ll have to get diagnostic. I called to make sure that was in the system and the lady told me that they changed the policy and that they would not cover it. The company knows all those radios that they put in those cars are defective and they are replacing them, but they’re giving people a hard time that don’t have a warranty and the fact that I was told it would be taken care of they should be held accountable to their word it’s a contract, even if it was verbal. And spreading, and that means that that radio can take control of my car is a getting somebody hurt or myself. It is very distracting the screen where it’s peeling on the inside.. Lafontaine told me Carol warranty and insinuated it was going to be covered. That’s why I had to drive all the way up to Fenton to get the diagnostic done there and then once I did the diagnostic, they said there was no warranty and the dealership does not want to help me out of her hands Somebody has to be accountable for him. Jeep knows about the defective products and . Several people gone through the same thing. They would rather make people come to them and then try to collect all this money for their defective product. It was the beginning of September when I called and I talked to somebody from customer care a About the Jeep. I’m finally complaints with whoever I can until they fix my radio like they told me they were going to do | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,LANE DEPARTURE | JEEP grand Cherokee’s are know for their faulty transmissions, I just bought a 2019 jeep grand Cherokee from the dealer and it has a faulty transmission. I’ve research and found out that other owners have same issues. This issues cause the car to jerk forward going from 2nd to 1st gear. This can be an issue because the jerk is strong and can cause an accident when stopping. Please help us out with this issue as it is a safety concern. Thank you! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER,LANE DEPARTURE | Well maintained and properly serviced car. Never had any issues. While driving out of town, 4hrs into the drive the electrical system went haywire. Error messages began cycling through on the driver panel - stability control lights, service air bag system, engine light comes up, and service bag system, after which the car loses total power. After pulling onto the side of the road, I placed car in park, and attempted to restart and it would not power on. All lights are working but the vehicle will not start - it makes starting sound but won’t power on. After trying for about 30 minutes, the ac blower pop on, which was strange b/c the car was powered off. The car starts and is driven about a mile and the same thing happens all over. After trying another hour it starts again and drives another 2 hrs to my destination (at this time the radio and ac was powered off.) I chose to leave it off as I didn’t want anything to stop vehicle since it was running. Upon arriving to my destination a mechanic looked at it and said the electric systems stopped communicating and he reset it. The vehicle drove around town, a fee miles here and there, seemingly fine. When I put it back on the highway to return home the next day, the problem started all over again. We ended up stranded on the side of the highway yet again and after about 20 minutes, the car started up. We were able to drive to the nearest gas station at which time I attempted to turn the car off, thinking that maybe that would help to reset it. At this time the vehicle would not turn off. The front windows were not operating. The windshield wipers would not come on. It just so happened to be raining heavily, and I had to drive in the rain with no windshield wipers. Next, all the instruments went down. Gas hand went to E, even though there was over 200 miles of gas. The blind spots warning lights lit up and remained lit, the car appeared to want to lose power, would putter but remained on. Made it home and car powered off. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | ENGINE | Camshaft failure caused misfire while driving. The car is currently being repaired so there are no receipts yet. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the temperature gauge rose to HOT, and the vehicle would hesitate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where a diagnostic test was performed. The diagnostic result indicated that the O-rings on the bottom of the coolant module were worn and that the oil filter adapter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic where coolant intrusion inside cylinder #6 was found. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,600. | Crash: No Fire: No | 95,000 |
| Sep 2024 | STEERING,SUSPENSION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Navigation touch screen delamination rendering the user interface that controls many of the car's functions inoperable. Many of the advanced driver assistance systems along with settings for the car's engine, suspension, and steering are controlled through this interface. This is a widespread issue in the WK2 models of Jeep Grand Cherokees. Safe operation of the vehicle is predicated on a functioning touch screen. The car cannot completely be operated safely without this user interface. I reached out to Stellantis with my concerns. Stellantis will not cover the cost of replacing the screen once the car is out of warranty. These cars are unsafe to operate without a functioning touch screen. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Circulate button will automatically cause the heat and/or ac to blow full blast while vehicle is in drive/motion randomly. The only way to stop this from happening is to stop vehicle turn off engine and restart and instantly using screen to “off” option for no heat and/or ac | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES | The exact same issue described in NHTSA 23E-019 happened to this vehicle, but Chrysler is saying this vehicle doesn't qualify for the recall even though the same issue described in the recall notice occurred to this vehicle and since this is a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it does fit the timeframe this recall occurred 2011-2022 (WK) Jeep Grand Cherokee. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | STEERING | The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the steering wheel seized. The contact was unable to turn the steering wheel to the left or the right. The contact was then able to get the steering wheel to turn using more than normal force. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and was able to reset the power steering; however, the steering wheel was not functioning normally. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering rack gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V637000 (Steering). The failure mileage was approximately 74,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 74,000 |
| Aug 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The touchscreen in the car which has controls for the radio, navigation, phone and other features in delaminating and causing the screen to change buttons, features while driving. The screen gets stuck or shuts off while driving causing a safety issue while driving. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | I have a few different issues with my car. The transmission has been shifting roughly, there’s a loud clunking sound when I put it in reverse, and I'm experiencing slipping, hesitation on acceleration, and sudden bursts of power. The car has been starting to jerk a lot. The engine has lost power while driving, which forced me to pull over on a busy highway at night with my kids in the vehicle. Fortunately, I was able to roll off the freeway, turn off the car, and after several attempts, I managed to drive home. Also my vehicle sometimes have a difficulty starting. I’ll press the start button and no response. I’ve also been dealing with electrical problems. My screen constantly freezes, goes blank or turns off. At times I can’t connect my smart devices. My AC has broke, repaired and having problems again. I previously took my vehicle to the dealership to address issues with the AC. I mentioned these problems, and I was told they would be checked. However, an employee later said they couldn’t find anything wrong. When I spoke to another employee, he admitted he wasn’t aware of the issues. It’s very frustrating dealing with these significant problems, especially since I can’t trust my vehicle and always feel scared to drive out of town. All of this has been an ongoing issue. I have a few friends same model and year and they received recalls but I didn’t. This is my only vehicle, I paid a lot of money for it and I shouldn’t have to be dealing with this. Please help me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The radio screen starting developing bubbles on each side. After speaking to several dealers by phone they are telling me this is very common with this yr vehicle that the screen is delaminating and Jeep will not cover this. For my concern how and who do I contact? Beings this system controls the heated seats is this eventually at some point going to stop working? Each time I turn on these seats I am concerned the heat will not shut off and if traveling a distance I do not want to get burnt. Could you please help/assist as I do have a friend that was burnt from a heated car seat. Thank you. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | SUSPENSION | There is something wrong with the front suspension of my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. At highway speeds there is noise and vibration which is felt through the steering wheel and brake pedal. At lower speed, on city streets, you can feel / hear a noise when turning and the steering will pull hard to the left you have to quickly turn to the right to get the car going straight again. There seems to be something loose in the suspension which shifts out of place. I have taken it to the Jeep dealer several times and they say they do not find anything, they will balance and align the suspension but this did not fix the problem . The last time they blamed the tires, which had 55K miles, so I replaced the tires and still have the problem. This is a very dangerous situation, if it occurred in heavy traffic it would could cause the car to lurch into the oncoming lane of traffic and cause a head-on collision. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The screen on my information center is delaminating. Took the vehicle to the dealership for extended warranty service and was told this was not covered under warranty. When this is a known issue not sure why the manufacture is not covering this claim. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES | I received a letter in the mail that my Jeep had a recall for some type of sensor that affects the brakes and brake lights. I’ve read that a malfunction in this sensor can cause my brake to not work and can cause me to crash into someone or something. The fact that this issue hasn’t been resolved yet is beyond me. This recall came out in 2022. It had been 2 years. What’s going happen when a mother is driving her family around in her Jeep that also has this recall on it, she switched the brake on but it doesn’t brake and she and her family crash into someone. Life’s are at risk here. I am planning to start a family within the next year and I will be getting rid of this car because I will not trust my family in it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ENGINE | While driving 65 mph on the highway, the jeep lost all acceleration. I was able to get to the shoulder and the car said to put it in park. I did and then was unable to shift to any other mode. The brake pedal was hard as a rock and would not move. The air then turned hot. When I turned the vehicle off and back on - everything seemed fine but losing power on a major highway was extremely dangerous. No warning lights or messages. No other symptoms prior to this instance. Car is currently at independent service center and they cannot determine what is wrong. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
