Jan 2025 STEERING,AIR BAGS,SERVICE BRAKES On December 31, 2024 we had a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo cause a crash due to malfunctioning parts. The ABS brakes failed and locked up. The steering wheel also locked up, causing the vehicle to crash hard into a guard rail. This resulted in the vehicle being totaled, property damage, and a ER visit. While braking on a mountainous road, the brakes and wheel locked up and the vehicle could not be controlled. The police report states this is what happened. We had the vehicle into the dealership multiple times within a year stating that the brakes weren't working properly. They kept telling us that they couldn't find any issues; however, they kept trying to replace different parts to both the front and rear brakes. The vehicle was inspected by the police, insurance adjuster, and a collision body shop. The vehicle was totaled and not 1 single air bag deployed during the collision either. This incident was confirmed by the 3 parties I listed. A family members life was put at risk and looking at the damage, it appeared that it started to roll but ended coming back down instead. When I contacted Mopar about this incident, I was informed of the recall. They also said that there was a fix for the recall. However, there is no fix as to date. We are short a vehicle, which was paid off, an increase in auto insurance, and had a Lifetime Max Care Warranty through Mopar. None of this was in our control. The insurance company has taken the vehicle into their possession. There was no warning signs, it just happened suddenly.

Jan 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Electronic stability control, check engine and ABS lights are all on. This effects not only my ESC- I have gone out of control multiple times in bad weather, but because of this the cruise control and the automatic starter on my vehicle do not work either. I live in northern VT where winters are tough. ESC needs to be working properly to prevent potential for crash. I have come close several times this winter to going out of control. Also very annoying that the convenience items do not work. Lastly- these lights have been showing on the dash since last summer. I wanted to trade the vehicle in about this time and still do for a different vehicle but can not because of the dash being lit up. This is causing significant financial impact on my household as the vehicle is depreciating day by day and I would certainly not get what its worth with a dashboard full of mechanic error lights.

Jan 2025 AIR BAGS As I was sitting in the back part of my jeep in the hatch out of nowhere the car shook and a large bang went off. I searched the car to find out what happened I couldn't figure it out. later when I got home my son noticed that the driver side headrest looked funny. I checked it myself and saw that the driver side air bag on the headrest deployed itself. My car has not been in any accident and the air bag deployed on its own. When I took my car for a routine oil change. I was informed that it's not jeeps responsibility and I didn't have any warranty coverage.

Jan 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER My car is saying to service my Electeonic stability control. It is making weird noises when I back up. It’s skidding when starting off from a complete stop. This is absolutely putting my safety at risk. And I am afraid to drive the vehicle to my job. With the ESC not working driving this is putting me at risk. And if there is no fix “yet” what am I supposed to do? The vehcile was also shaking when I was going up a curved on ramp to get on the highway probably 35-40 mph?

Jan 2025 LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE There is a recall on my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee it is a safety recall. Manufacturer Recall Number94B NHTSA Recall Number24V-838 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available Summary An HCU/ABS module that falsely reads pressure in the primary circuit may illuminate the brake lights (up to 4.5 mph), disable the ABS and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and allow the vehicle to start and shift out of park without the brake pedal being depressed. Safety Risk A brake light that inadvertently illuminates may result in surrounding drivers not receiving accurate indication of slowing or stopping, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. Disabled ABS and ESC, that are needed to help control the vehicle, can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. A vehicle that is able to start and shift out of park without depressing the brake pedal can result in unintended vehicle movement which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning and/or injury to others outside the vehicle.

Jan 2025 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL Vehicle shut-off while in route, in traffic, check engine light then came on. The second time this occurred, check engine light came on and immediately vehicle proceeded decelerate from 55 mph to 25 mph while I was on a highway. The vehicle would not shift to a higher gear and remained in the lower gear at 30 mph on a 55 mph highway, causing me to move off to the side , turn off the vehicle and then restart the vehicle. Check engine light not shown, vehicle operated, except shifted hard. On several occasions I have shared with the dealer at service appointments that I experienced transmission sensor issues causing delayed shifting, not able to shift into reverse or drive from park, vehicles stalled, and rough gear changes, unusual noises coming from the transmission. The engine check light would come on, then disappear shortly after, but not always. Service appointments by a Jeep dealership resulted in them updating software, which I shared did nothing to resolve the problem, so I brought the vehicle back and asked they check the transmission fluid level and cleanliness of the fluid, and whatever else needed to be checked. I was told the transmission was completely sealed and it was fine by the dealership. It was not fine, and the vehicle stalled again, and again it while on the freeway, almost getting into and accident, the transmission locked up and would not move past 30 mph. A warning light did not appear. I brought it back to the Jeep dealership for repairs because it is not safe to drive. I am being told that the transmission is defective by the service department. I asked if they drove it and they said yes. This has been a problem I have been trying to get resolved for the last four months of 2024. I do have service records, in my glove box, and a video of the transmission flashing in reverse. Vehicle is at the dealership for assessment and repair.

Dec 2024 SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Brakes lights remain on when vehicle is in Park and in Drive without brake pedal activation. ABS is also engaged in Park and presents with hard pedal and no travel. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealer in September 2014. Note- Recall Z48 software update was performed April 2023. Service notes state replaced ABS module, no change. Internal pressure sensor reporting 117PSI with no brake pedal input. Replaced HCU module. I paid $1529 for this repair. FCA refused to reimburse me on the original Z48 recall and now refuses reimbursement for the 94B/NHTSA 24V-838 recall.

Dec 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The UConnect screen is delaminating. This is a known issue for this year/make/model. Jeep has a history of repairing this under warranty. Despite my vehicle falling within their guidelines for a no-cost repair, they have denied my request. This is a safety issue because as the screen delaminates, it (from what I understand from other Grand Cherokee owners) becomes non-functional. This means the backup camera and critical vehicle controls and settings can be come unusable while the vehicle is in use. I have requested that Jeep repair this under warranty as has been done for many other Grand Cherokee owners (based on my own research).

Dec 2024 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Cylinder head gasket(s) has a leak. It limited my ability to speed up and keep up with traffic in a timely manner, requiring me to put on hazards forcing others to navigate around me causing a backlog of traffic and other potential hazards. I have had inspected by two different auto repair shops and both came to the same conclusion, they have also told me that they have seen this issue on the same make and model of my car and other surrounding years of the same make and model quite a bit. check engine light came on, and there was a sensor warning on the dash the day of the problem cropping up. Per the repair shops either this issue has been silently present in my car for some time or the leak in it is very aggressive due to the remaining volume of oil in my engine.
