| Aug 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I am requesting a recall to be reissued to my vehicle. Recall is 23-047:6MX00 2019-23 pilot farka service cables safety recall. I bought my vehicle to Bay Ridge Honda for 2 recalls and an oil change on July 21, 2023. When I picked up my car, I was told everything has been completed. The next day I received a text from Bay Ridge Honda stating parts for my vehicle have arrived. That is when I looked over my invoice and it stated parts were on special order. I texted back Bay Ridge Honda the next day and they stated there were no open recalls on my car and all recalls are completed. I received a call 2 minutes from them, telling me to bring back my car as the recall has not been completed. I bring back my car on July 28, was told it would be about 2 hours to complete. I go back in 3 hours, was told the vehicle would be ready in a few minutes. I wait one hour later and am told that the parts are defective. Of course I’m upset at this point and told them to put the recall back to my VIN and I would go to another Honda. As of today, the open recall is not on my vehicle. Please update. Thanks. I have included the invoices and text with Bay Ridge Honda. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ENGINE | When the vehicle comes to a stop it shuts off and will not restart. We have had it to the dealership for more than 7 times for the same time. They have sold us 3 new batteries and the car is only 4 years old. It is not the battery. It is a safety concern because of the damage of being rammed or being attacked in an unsafe area. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | POWER TRAIN,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Transmission fluid is burning up within 15,000 miles or less. When the flood is going bad the vehicle studders as you accelerate and it's not safe. Ive seen a lot of people online with the same issue. Contacted Honda of America and they also know about the issue and are not doing anything to help. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,BACK OVER PREVENTION | The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Collision Mitigation System, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, brakes, and seat belt warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the RPM gauge operated as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), 19V298000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), and 20V439000 (Back Over Prevention, Electrical System). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 102,000 |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | On or about June 15, 2023 I put my 2019 Honda Pilot in reverse and observed the dashboard screen displaying an assortment of green and purple colors, which is blocking the rearview image, making backing up unsafe. My vehicle is just shy of 5 years old and only has 33,000 original miles, has never been involved in an accident and is always garaged. This image occurred at the same time that NHTSA issued recall 23V-431. Prior to this time frame, the backup camera image was perfect. It is my belief that this issue is directly related to the aforementioned recall. My local Honda dealer complied with the recall repairs and advised that the camera unit itself was bad. I doubt this assesment, as the camera has no moving parts. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | Auto start-stop failure. After the auto start-stop engages (turns off engine at intersection), sometimes the vehicle does not restart. I have to press the starter on the dashboard to restart and put the transmission back in gear. Other times, when it does restart like it is supposed to, it flashes a "collision alert warning" on the dashboard when it restarts. These incidents started about three months ago and are now happening much more frequently. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Crackling sound in speakers and error message on touch screen (entertainment screen front) MOST NET OFF and screen goes off. This is a safety issue as when we are drving on roads we are usually relying on google maps, when screen goes off during critical turns, driver gets distracted and park the car to side road, which sometimes is dangerous due to other fast moving vehicles. Many times when screen goes off it distracts the driver by not keeping eyes on road. The crackling sounds are very loud, it sometimes make the driver apply sudden braking on highways due to distraction. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | When i turned on my vehicle errors started coming up Collision Mitigation System problem, Road departure mitigation system problem, auto high beam problem, Adaptive cruise control problem and Lane keeping assist problem. Also has orange Brake System highlighted. Unable to use any of the safety features mentioned as well as cruise control. Took vehicle to Honda dealer on February 6th and was informed the camera behind the rearview mirror had gone bad. There were no warnings prior. I had driven the vehicle around and stopped to get gas and when I turned it back on all the errors begun to appear. This was the first time they appeared and they have been there since as the dealer wanted over $1800 to repair this. After looking on the internet/Facebook Honda Pilot group there have been several others that have had this same issue with their 2019 Honda Pilot. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | My car was parked in my driveway, when I started the car, 4-5 warning lights started to flash in orange, ACC, LKAS, Automatic High Beam, Collision Mitigation Problem, Road Departure Mitigation Problem. When driving the vehicle, none of these safety features are working. Took the vehicle to the dealer and was told the Multi Purpose Camera had an internal failure and it was likely due to heat exposure. The vehicle only has 32,000 miles on it and it was not at any unusual heat exposure. The past 3 summers the temperature has been the same and no problems. This appears to be a Manufacturer Defect on this camera but dealer won't accept that. The same day I took my car to the dealer, on 7.12.23 for the check up, I was told 4 other customers came in with the same problem. That is Not Normal. I live in Southern California and the temperatures have been in the 90's for the past 2 weeks. I googled this and found many other Honda Owners have had the same problem and Honda is wanting to charge us about $1800-$2,000 to get this camera fixed but again, this must be a Manufacturer's Defect. There are thousands of Honda vehicles on the road and these safety features are not working. Thank you. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Radio Screen is not working and completely Dark. The Backup Camera does not work! The radio and anything tied to the main screen does not work! Took the car to dealer and got car back in the same condition. Do not feel that Honda has a fix! I will take car back sometime in future when they order and recieve parts to repair the Backup camera and entertainment system. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER | The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the vehicle came to a complete stop. The contact attempted to accelerate, and the vehicle stalled while making an unusual sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a faulty fuel pump. The contact was informed that the upper high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the dealer informed him that the vehicle had experienced the same failure as in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 56,000 |
| Jul 2023 | POWER TRAIN,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | 2019 Honda Pilot EX-L AWD; approximately 76k miles; all routine maintenance performed as scheduled Power Train (Jun-2023)-- had to replace both seals on on transmission / transfer case within the same month as case was leaking transmission fluid. Problem has been confirmed and repaired by two service centers (one seal each) with one at dealer and one at independent service center. No warning lights or indicators, just fluid leaking. Results could have been catastrophic transmission failure. Also replaced "burned" transmission fluid. Fuel / Propulsion System (Jun-2023) -- per service technician at dealer, loose / failing spring in high pressure fuel pump / fuel joint pipe. Per independent service center, if / when pump fails, fuel will spill into the engine. No warning lights or indicators, just noise when starting and accelerating. Trying to schedule service to address this but service centers and dealers are booked and part seems to be hard to come by taking 1-2 weeks to obtain. Neither of these issues should be happening at 75k miles and certainly not on a Honda. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Auto off engine idle. At stop after activating the auto off, the engine cuts off and no power to move vehicle. Unable to restart or shift into park for at least 20 seconds. Have to shift to park, then off and on again. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Jumping when shifting and shifting delays | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Honda issued a Safety Recall in 2021 to replace a faulty fuel pump on our 2019 Honda Pilot. We took it to Buena Park Honda in November 2021, where they replaced the pump. This weekend the pump failed while we were driving through Parker, Arizona, stranding us on the open highway with two young children in 102 degree weather, putting us at risk of being hit by passing vehicles or heat stroke. We had to have the Honda towed over 130 miles to Unicars Honda in Indio. The dealership informed us that the fuel pump had failed and since the Recall was closed when the recall pump was installed, the cost to replace now would be our expense or charged against our extended warranty. Just prior to the vehicle shutting down we received an alarm and the check engine light came on. I have read that if a recall component is replaced with another defective component this repair should be fully covered, "free of charge" by the manufacturer. I have not received any documentation from the Service Department as yet. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Rear ended the vehicle in front. Vehicle in front had emergency braking activate, our pilot did not activate emergency braking. It does often go off on 2 lane highways when a large vehicle is coming the other way or when trying to take a freeway exit, but apparently not when you're about to hit someone. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The Infotainment System in my 2019 Honda Pilot Touring has had problems with its display since September 2020 when it went dim/dark all by itself while driving. The unit would come back on at some point by itself. The unit would not acknowledge the controls being accessed by me. This unit includes the rear camera-a vital safety item of the vehicle. The below is the sequence of events to date. The infotainment center is still not functioning properly. 1. Sep 9 2020: Brought car to Honda due to a dark not functioning infotainment screen which includes the back-up camera. Honda replaced the audio unit (Display, Center). 2. Feb 27 - Mar 7 2023: Infotainment center cracking from speakers and dropping calls and sudden signal off. The crackling and dropping calls would proceed the system completely shutting down by providing a multitude of errors to include: Network Communication Lost: MOST Net Off; Radio unavailable; Anti Theft System: This system has lost power. Push and hold the power button for more than two seconds to enable the system; No audio connection for FM. Honda performed the campaign recall for the MOST Bus Network Connectors. 3. Mar 14 2023: Same issues from #2 above. Honda states they did everything from the recall for the MOST Bus Network Connectors. Honda states it is the AMP and replaces amp. 4. Apr 6 - May 31 2023. Same issues from #2 above. Honda state they did everything from the recall for the MOST Bus Network Connectors. Honda states it is the Control Unit, Navigator(A)/Infotainment. Honda replaces the control unit. 5. Jun 14 2023 to present. Same issues from #2 above. Honda rechecks every connection between the gauge control module and stereo amplifier. Honda shop learns there is a new service bulletin coming out in the next 4 weeks. They want to wait for that to assess. System still fails w/no camera when the unit powers off by itself. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | SEAT BELTS | The seatbelt that serves the middle row center seat detached from its attachment point during normal use without an accident. We are the original owners of the car with no accidents. My daughter has sat in that seat for 4.5 years and 50,000 miles. She is currently 10 years old. Had we been in an accident, I believe that she would have not been protected by her seatbelt. One day, we noticed a large bulge in the back of the car roof that we hadn’t seen before. The next day, when my daughter puller her seatbelt out, there was resistance when she pulled. Once the seatbelt did come out, white fabric came out of the seatbelt hole and the seatbelt fabric was torn/frayed. We brought the car into the dealership where we purchased it. Upon inspection, the bulge was the reel assembly that had detached from the frame of the car. The seatbelt assembly was wedged between the metal roof and the fabric trim - not attached to anything. It is being repaired under warranty on 6/16/2023 at the dealership. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Vehicle automatically applies brakes in several unwanted situations: (1) driving down 2 lane road going around curve with other vehicle approaching from opposite direction (2) something small in roadway such as plastic bag or small limb (3) normal stopping when car thinks other vehicle is too close in front but driver is under complete braking control These actions are dangerous at normal highway speeds and on wet road!!!! This has happened multiple times, not just on date listed below. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I was at a stop light and my car cycled off as it does when I am stopped and then it did not start back up. It stalled and the dash told me to put the car in park and press the start button and the brake. I tried it several times before it started back up. Very dangerous situation. I had been noticing prior to this that it would hesitate to restart and my car would ding like it does when the light comes on for a service notification. But it would start - this was the first time that it stalled. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | ENGINE | The car did not auto restart when it shut off at a stop. I had to put the car into park and press the engine start button again. Supposedly there had been a software update done a few thousand miles ago but the car has shut off and not restarted 3x in the last 2 weeks so issue isn't fixed | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | 2019 Honda Pilot AWD fuel pump replaced per recall in June 2021. Replacement fuel pump failed June 2023 and was replaced by Honda dealer. Initial replacement part examined by Honda service dealer when replacing fuel pump for the second time, not by others. Honda service report states that fuel pump assembly found to be corroded at connection for haness plug. I do not possess the initial fuel pump replacement. Multiple failure messages appeared at time of fuel pump failure, unable to start vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | On May 27, 2013, while approaching a traffic light controlled intersection, I applied the vehicle brakes (depressed the brake pedal) with no response. My vehicle speed was slow enough to allow me to make a right turn at the intersection without damage to my vehicle or others in the vicinity. Within a few seconds (less than 5) the brakes started responding correctly with no subsequent occurrence, to date. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The transmission has slipped now twice while driving. The car keep on giving jerks hard after the car starts moving The car is in automatic drive mode. During acceleration, the car will jolt forward, also when using the brakes. The dealer did recognize the problem but said it is not covered by warranty and that transmission needed to be flushed… which was going to cost $740 and parts extra. After initial diagnostics recommended to flush transmission fluid 3 times. For even Diagnose they charged me $179 . I Have done maintenance on time Transmission fluid was change before 30000 miles for the first time and now they are asking to flush it 3 times ,As per Honda Manual recommendation every 30000 miles we need to change Transmission fluid . They should replace either Transmission or do the service free of cost under powertrain warranty(60000 miles) as I only have 46800 miles within 4 years of purchase. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Car is at 56K mileage. I was at a stop light engine was running, when I took my foot off the brake and tried to accelerate the engine died, the dashboard flashed a collision warning, (there were no cars or animals near my car), then all the screens dashboard behind steering wheel and on middle console all went blank. I restarted the car and made it home fine. Drove the car the next day for several stops (street and highway driving), then the same thing happened at a stop light and it restarted and I made it home fine. The third day there were no problems while driving 30+ miles streets and highway. The fourth day, drove about 15 miles to work and all was fine. Drove about 13 miles street and highway just fine. Ran an errand and car would not restart. Pressing the engine start button resulting in clicking but not engine start, headlight flashing, and the dashboard behind steering flashing various warning messages (cycled through several as I held the start button down, collision, braking system failure, power steering, etc.) but never started. Let it rest for ~3 hours and still would not start, same result with clicking and flashing headlights and warning messages. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
