| Sep 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Back camera failure and shows image with color mixed. This creates an unsafe environment and its hard to recognize anything with this issue. This makes it unsafe for the driver who is backing up and to the people behind the car. Honda will not address it saying its not related to the cable recall NHTSA Recall #: 23V-431. I believe this cable issue actually fails the camera as well and Honda should address it as well. This issue looks like is not a random issue and there are lot of cars that are having this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Sep 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | To address the General Guidelines questions, the responses are identified below: 1. Charging System problem appeared on dashboard. Took the vehicle for inspection 9/18/23. 2. Possible vehicle crash/death if stopped suddenly, highly possible 3. Yes, see uploaded 2nd file 4. No, the vehicle has not been inspected per entities noted above. 5. There appears to be hesitation in the vehicle operation. See 1st uploaded file as message appeared on dashboard. NOTE: On the dealership report, it appears the tech conducted tests of the components associated with the matter. Did he/she conduct a visual inspection of those components? I am scared of driving of vehicle because of the possibility of being stranded or crash or death to myself or others, as the reasons I am producing this report. I have made my family members aware of the problem and this report to you. | Sep 2023 | ENGINE | Pulled to stop. Engine Auto-Stop shut down the engine. When I released the brake pedal the car did not restart. The display stated that I needed to shift the car out of drive before starting. I put the car in park, pressed the Car On/Off button to restart the car, and it restarted without issue. Shifted to Drive and car moved without issue. This has happened 2 times. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ENGINE | Brought vehicle to stop on a hill at a traffic light intersection. Auto Start/Stop activated, shutting engine off. When releasing the brake the vehicle did not restart. Placed foot on the accelerator, there was no response. The vehicle then started to drift backward down the hill toward other vehicles stopped at light. Slammed on the brakes. Had to restart the car manually with the push button starter switch. Vehicle was able to start and move under its own power. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Our 2019 Pilot has experienced intermittent stalling at lights since 2019 and the incidents have occurred more frequently in the past few months (multiple times per week). It has been taken exclusively to the dealer since purchased and for years, they said they were unable to duplicate it. Last service was 08/2023 and Sheehy Honda of Alexandria, VA stated that they duplicated it and fixed it (by resetting codes). Six days later, the stalling began again. I believe it's related to the Auto Idle Stop function. Yes, it's available for inspection. This puts us and others at risk when the car suddenly stalls and stops at a busy intersection with people lined up behind us, not expecting to have to brake. It requires putting vehicle in park, turning it off and restarting engine. It has not been inspected by anyone except the Honda dealer. Warning lights come on when this happens, as it's dying....collision mitigation, battery, and this has been told to the dealer. I recently read online that turning off "Auto Idle Stop" helps and this seems to be true. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated the rear-view camera failed to display the rearview. The contact then learned that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V431000 (Back Over Prevention), so they took the vehicle to the dealer and had the remedy completed. The camera continued to fail to display the rearview of the vehicle. They returned the vehicle to the dealer who then diagnosed that the camera had failed. The camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle had been repaired a second time. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 54,000 |
| Aug 2023 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | While driving on two lane roads and roads with left turn lanes, the "BRAKE" warning comes on almost every other on-coming car. Most instances it just the warning light and sound, but every once in a while the automatic brakes are applied by the system momentarily at times. This became worse on a highway while driving in the left lane and passing a truck that was in a left turn lane, the system braked immediately and without prior warning, nearly causing a rear end collision by a vehicle behind. This occurred twice on a recent trip. Went to the Honda dealer and they informed me the only thing they can do is set it to the closest setting or turn off the driving assist system. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,VISIBILITY/WIPER | My rear camera does not work in my car. I received a recall notice regarding this. It was unable to be completed because my Infotainment system is completely non functional at this point. This is an on going issue that I have had with this car almost immediately after purchase. My speedometer also disappears while driving… the screen goes completely black and I have no idea how fast I’m going. It happens numerous times a week at this point. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ENGINE | Auto-stop failed to restart the engine when stepping off the brake pedal after it had engaged while stopping for a traffic light. Although the car never had an issue with auto-start, the auto-start recall was applied at the same time as the hood latch recall. Since the auto-start fix was applied, the car has had several instances where it seemed at first like it might not start, but eventually did. This failure happened while on a road trip with my family and we were hundreds of miles from home. Sitting in a turning lane off a highway with when your engine doesn’t restart is very scary, especially as you’re trying to figure out the state of your car—while surrounding drivers are reacting to the disabled car in front of them—in order to figure out how to try restarting it. Dealing with a push button start, a push button transmission, all the safeties involved e tween the systems, and an engine that should be running is panic inducing. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | EQUIPMENT | The air conditioning system abruptly ceased emitting cold air, prompting the involvement of the dealership. Their assessment revealed a compressor leak stemming from the failure of the shaft seal. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I have taken the vehicle to the dealer 3 times since taking ownership of this vehicle, for the same issue. When changing gears, usually going uphill, the car stutters. And it has not been fixed | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I had a engine light showing P0430 which was dealer confirmed to need the fuel injectors replaced. This was the same that is shown in Service Bulletin 21-010. However, my 2019 was not covered under the extended warranty noted in the Service Bulletin for faulted fuel injectors since the extension only applies to "certain" vehicles. This appears to be a model wide problem since the dealership's parts department will not directly sell customers the replacement parts referenced in the service bulletin and seems like there is more of a problem that should be applied to all models. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The rear view camera isn't working. The camera itself is the problem according to the dealer, which isn't covered by a similar recall that was related to a cable. They claim the module itself stopped functioning for no known reasoning, which costs about $800 to replace. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Car drops to Nuetral while breaking at red light. Car must then be put to Park and turned off and back on before it can proceed. Highly unsafe when there are cats waiting behind. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | came to stop sign at busy intersection and engine shutoff as part of the auto engine stop. The issue is when I let off the brake the engine did not restart and put the car in neutral. had to cut off and restart. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Was driving normal and the windshield camera radar fail, and a lot of warning lights come on, take to a dealer and told me that some internal part of the camera fail, and need to be replace, they estimate for that is $1600, now I’m driving with out automatic brake, no cruise control, no line keeping assistant, 2019 Honda Pilot Ex-L, I think is a common problem and need to recall this,. Thank you | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | NHTSA Recall # 23V-431. MOST cable needs to be replaced for the backup camera. Received recall notification on August 5, contacted dealer on August 7 to schedule repair. I was given November 28 as the date for the recall repair. That date is 113 days from my scheduled date. This time frame is unacceptable and more than the 60 days noted in the recall letter. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
