This camera controls the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), automatic headlights and high beams, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Collision Mitigation System, Road Departure Mitigation System. This issue first began in March 2023 and occurs all of the time. I brought the vehicle to the dealership to be inspected. The warning lights and dings occur constantly throughout my ride. I have attached a link to a video that I had recorded and uploaded through Youtube, due to the size of the file. [XXX] Dealer quote states $1579, plus tax for camera replacement and proper aiming. This seems to be a common issue with the 2016-2020 model of the Honda Pilot per online chat boards. The price of repair among people that have either received a quote or had the camera replaced is from $1500-$1800. As this appears to be a manufacturing issue and not due to normal wear and tear, this should not be the responsibility of the owner. | Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN | The Honda Pilot has a known history of "Judder and Surge" with the transmission. Which means to shake rapidly or spasmodically; vibrate conspicuously. Honda in America has a TSB/Technical Service Bulletin for this condition and that is to triple flush the transmission and reprogram the transmission computer. This is OBVIOUSLY a serious safety issue and the vehicle does not behave in a normal operating condition and surges and vibrates until service is performed. This is not normal wear and tear, this is bad engineering. Honda is aware of the TSB for Judder and Surge, but will only correctly repair certain trim levels and model years, although Honda knows that it exist in all configuration of the Pilot 2016 and forward. We have a 2019 Honda Pilot and Honda refuses to fix this vehicle as a TSB, but instead wishes to leave the vehicles on the road and have the unwitting customer pay for this serious repair condition. The warning lights and beep go off frequently when driving on highways and surface streets, in fact it’s nearly impossible to have an incident-free trip longer than 20-30 minutes. Upon inspection, I observed excessive amounts of moisture had accumulated on the inside of both headlight assemblies and was refracting the headlight beam resulting in extremely poor visibility placing myself and other drivers at risk for an accident and injury. It is likely that the moisture entered the headlight assemblies while I was driving in a severe thunderstorm the prior day. Much to my surprise, I learned that this is a known issue to Honda. Please see the attachment Service Bulletin number 23-024, titled “Moisture in the Headlights”. Upon review of the technical information from Honda, I learned that the cause of the moisture in the headlight is a broken seal that resulted from improper assembly of the vehicle. When brake is released the engine does not start, the car goes into park or neutral and will not move until the vehicle is shut-off and restarted after a period of time. Time varies. Dealership is blaming after-market battery, stating vehicle auto idle stop/start feature requires Honda OEM battery with specific voltage. Incident occurred in January 2024, reported at 50K mile service and again in June 2024. With both incidents there were no warning lamps, messages that appeared. Honda stated they could not recreate the issue then worked with Master techs that stated it was a battery issue. Blaming it on our specific vehicle and did not inform us of investigation of thousands of claims with this specific issue. The problems begin when I take my foot off the break expecting the engine to start up again. What happens inconsistently is that when I take my foot off the brake, the engine shuts off, shifts itself into Nuetral, and I have trouble getting the engine to start up again. A number of warning messages may show up on the center console as well. Things like, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation, Brake System warnings start displaying. I can get the engine to start up again, but need to put into Park then start it. Also, I have noticed the car's collision mitigation system comes on when it restarts sometimes without actually turning off.
