WE FELT INSECURE AND HAD TO LET GO OF THE BRAKE PEDALS FREQUENTLY JUST TO PERHAPS COOL DOWN THE BARKES THEN APPLY AGAIN ON STAGGERED TIMES. WE REPORTED THIS TO A HONDA DEALER IN LOMA LINDA AND THEY SAID ITS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY NOR ON RECALL. IT WAS SO SURPRISING TO HEAR THAT BECAUSE THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS DILEMMA. | Feb 2020 | POWER TRAIN | I WAS DRIVING MY 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY UP A SLIGHT INCLINE AND THEN SUDDENLY I LOST ALL POWER. THE MINIVAN AUTOMATICALLY PUT ITSELF IN NEUTRAL AND THE DASHBOARD SCREEN SWITCHED BETWEEN SAYING, "STOP DRIVING WHEN SAFE. TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. SEE MANUAL" AND "TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. APPLY PARKING BRAKE WHEN PARKED." GIVEN THAT I HAD NO POWER I HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I FEEL LUCKY THAT THIS DID NOT OCCUR ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, I WAS UNABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK OR DRIVE. IT WAS LOCKED IN NEUTRAL. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON THE CAR HAD AUTOMATICALLY PUT ITSELF IN PARK AND I WAS UNABLE TO PUT IT INTO ANY GEAR (DRIVE OR REVERSE). I CALLED HONDA ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE WHO SCHEDULED A TOW TRUCK TO COME GET THE MINIVAN. THIS LOSS OF POWER OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET AT ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR. I HAD TWO OF MY LITTLE CHILDREN IN THE MINIVAN AND THIS EXPERIENCE WAS QUITE SCARY. BOTH ME AND MY CHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING, LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURIES, PARTICULARLY IF THIS OCCURS ON THE HIGHWAY. | Crash: No Fire: No | 25,357 |
